Chapter 3: Interruption Lor Lord Inari of the Eastern Lands sighed as he stared at the letter before him. Lord Otomo of the North and Lord Hisho of the South were coming to visit. He knew what those two old bastards were thinking, what they wanted to talk about. Not the hanyou, Naraku, nor any of the other minor insurgents in their lands. No, this was about Sesshomaru. They wanted to convince him to join their crusade to get the young lord mated. Most likely with his niece, Tsaisuki. Inari groaned at that thought. Tsaisuki was not one for the stoic lord, not one bit. She was far to stubborn. He wished that his mate still lived, he wished that his daughter was beside him. It had been sixty eight years since his sister, Miya, had taken her from their castle during a battle with the dragon youkai, Ryokoutsai (is that how it’s spelled?); the very battle that had lead to the eventual death of his dearest friend and father to Sesshomaru, InuTaisho.
The kitsune lord was ripped from his thoughts as he heard a knock at the door to his study. He sighed and rolled his eyes. “Enter.”
A young woman stepped into the room. Her blue hair pulled back into a high bun, revealing a pair of pointed ears. Her silver eyes stared at the taiyoukai before her with a kind light. She was dressed in a black kimono, decorated with cerulean colored stars and tied together with a midnight colored obi. She bowed to the lord and smiled. “My Lord, the taiyoukai of the South and North are here.”
Inari sighed and nodded. “Send them in, Tsaisuki.”
She bowed again. “After I do this, I head for the Bone Eater’s Well, uncle.”
“InuYasha’s Forest? Why?” Inari asked.
“My mother told me to,” she answered mysteriously as she turned to leave. “I shall return in a week’s time.”
Inari nodded. “Very well then, take Hotaru with you.”
Tsaisuki pouted. “You would command me to take her with me. Very well then, I shall take the hanyou with me.”
Inari smiled as he watched Tsaisuki leave him. ‘That child will be the end of me,’ he mused mentally.

Sesshomaru could smell magic on the air as he approached the ‘sanctuary’. Something strange was to happen this night, he could tell. His brother was nearby, seemingly searching for Kagome. That was unfortunate, for the hanyou would never be able to find her. Both he and the miko had cast a special barrier over the spot. Only they could enter this place, and no one would see inside their barrier. He smirked as he felt the sliding of energy over his form as he entered the clearing.
Kagome was afraid. She could sense Sesshomaru as he approached, but, the thing was, she could also smell him coming as w Som Something strange was happening to her. Over the past months, her body had been changing. Her hair, lightening to its current color, white with the streak of lavender, while her eyes, once a deep chocolate brown, were now a sparkling, brilliant cerulean. She had gained height, but only slightly, her body seemed curvier now, her features more delicate. Sesshomaru had never comed oed on it, much to her relief, but she knew that he had noticed. Her friends were also worried, although they had a tendency to coddle her and think these changes something evil. Kagome knew otherwise, this was something strange and magical, but felt natural; as though she was supposed to be this way.
Sesshomaru’s eyes widened as Kagome turned to him. He could see what she was now, and it shocked him. “You’re youkai,” he stated.
Kagome gasped. “I-I’m what?”
“You, Kagome, are youkai.”
Kagome stared at the taiyoukai of the West in shock. She then shook her head, a look ofbelibelief on her features. “That’s not possible. I’m a miko.”
“You have been taught of youkai breeds, yes?” he asked.
Kagome nodded.
“And, I presume, that you have delved thoroughly through the lore of the kitsune?”
“I wanted to make sure I could take care of Shippo correctly.”
“Then you know that you are kitsune, then,” he stated as though this were common knowledge.
Kagome gaped at the taiyoukai. “But I was born human!”
“Are you sure of this?”
Kagoauseaused. Now that she thought of it, she could recall memories from a life before her family at the shrine; a life with her father, mother, aunt and cousin. She had been told that it was not real, yet she had always felt otherwise. She had always felt out of place in her home in the future, and had always felt at home here, in the feudal era.
“There are five breeds of kitsune,” Sesshomaru lectured. “Black, the ruling class, red, the common kitsune, silver, a rare and outcast breed, blue, the magic casting class, and the white, the rarest and only youkai breed with the powers of a miko.”
“I’m a white kitsune?” she asked aloud.
Sesshomaru nodded. “Someone must have cast a spell on you to mask your true form. That and the scef thf the dead miko, Kikyo, has left you.”
“I see. Then I’m not really Kikyo’s reincarnation? You know, that’s a relief.”
Sesshomaru nodded. “The dead miko is a pestulant creature. This Sesshomaru is glad that you share nothing but the duty of the jewel with the bitch.”
Kagome chuckled and k hek her head. “Wait until InuYasha finds out.”
“Finds out what, Kagome? That you’re youkai, or that you’re fucking my brother?” InuYasha’s voice broke through the air.
Both Kagome and Sesshomaru stared in shock at the hanyou before them, although only Kagome’s shock was visible. InuYasha had the Tetsuaiga brandished, pointed at the taiyoukai before him. His gold eyes were filled with an untold anger.
“InuYasha!” Kagome gasped.
“When were you going to tell me, Kagome?” the hanyou asked.
“InuYasha, put the sword away,” Kagome pleaded.
“No! Not until you tell me why you’re here with him! How long has this been going on? How long have you been fucking my evil, cold hearted brother?!” he shouted.
Kagome’s eyes seemed to glow with rage. “I’m not fucking your brother, InuYasha! Now put away the god damned sword!”
“NO!” InuYasha shouted back.
“Kagome tells the truth, hanyou. I have not rutted with her.”
“Liar! Why should I believe you? I can smell your arousal!”
Kagome seemed shocked at this statement. She then looked to Sesshomaru. His face remained its usual stoic mask, but she could see that InuYasha told the truth in his eyes. “Sesshomaru?” she asked.
“I will not deny that I desire her, little brother, but I have more control than to just act upon it,” Sesshomaru defended.
InuYasha glared heatedly at the taiyoukai his eyes tinged pink with anger. He would not hear him. He was already too angry. “Why should I believe you?”
“If not him, then believe me, InuYasha. Sesshomaru and I are friends, nothing more,” Kagome placated. “Now, please put the sword away.”
InuYasha glared at Kagome. “Why him? Of all the youkai in wor world, you chose him! You backstabbing bitch!” he spat.
“Me? Me, the backstabber? You who still sneaks off to be with thorpsorpse, when you swore you wouldn’t keep secrets from me? This is nothing compared to what you’ve done to me, InuYasha. I gave you my heart, InuYasha, and you spat on it. For two years I loved you! Now that I’m finally over that hell you put me through, you call me a backstabber? At least Sesshomaru doesn’t treat me like I’m second best! Like I’m nothing a coa copy! Well, guess what, InuYasha. I’m not a copy. I’m an original! Kikyo is not my incarnate! Hear me? I’m Kagome, completely and always!”
InuYasha stared at Kagome in shock. “Kagome…”
“No! I’m still talking! Sesshomaru-sama seems to be the only one to understand me! The only one to not see me as anything but Kagome! I’m not a shard detector to him! I’m not a tool! That’s all I ever have been to you, InuYasha, Kikyo’s replacement and a shard detector. I may have eventually become your friend, but I’ll still always be those things before friend,” she said as she walked over to Sesshomaru. “I have never, and would never degrade myself to sleep with anyone without love, InuYasha. I thought you knew that. But apparently not.”
InuYasha stared at Kagome, still in shock, his eyes clearing. “I… Kagome I-“
“Don’t bother, InuYasha,” she said as she turned to Sesshomaru. “Sesshomaru-sama, I suppose this is the end for our sanctuary.”
“This Sesshomaru values the time we had,” he said softly to Kagome.
Kagome nodded. “Hai. Arigato, for listening to me.”
Sesshomaru nodded. “You are always welcome in the Western Lands.”
Kagome smiled. “Arigato, Sesshomaru-sama. We will meet again, I’m sure of it.”
Sesshomaru graced Kagome with a small smile and nodded. “This, I am sure of as well.”
Kagome laughed as she leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on the taiyoukai’s cheek. “Until then, Sesshomaru-sama.”
Sesshomaru froze. ‘She has kissed me,’ he stated mentally.
*Well? What are you going to do about it?* his youkai instinct inquired.
‘I do not know.’
*Well, do something!* It shouted. Sesshomaru then moved quickly and pressed his lips to Kagome’s. For a moment, feel a slight relief from within that she did not push him away, and pride as she pressed back in their chaste kiss.
Kagome’s eyes widened as she felt Sesshomaru kiss her heatedly, before fluttering closed as she returned. It felt as though time froze in that moment, the world abouem mem melted. All that existed was herself and the taiyoukai. She wrapped her arms about his neck as he held her by the back of the neck.
As soon as it began, their moment ended. Sesshomaru parted from Kagome and stared into her deep cerulean eyes. His mate instinct sang in his veins and yet he resisted. ‘She wants love,’ he repeated in his mind as her eyes searched his face.
“Sesshomaru?” she whispered.
“Hey! Get your fucking hands off her!” InuYasha shouted.
Sesshomaru rolled his eyes at his brother before returning to Kagome. “I anticipate our next meeting, Kagome-chan,” he said softly before vanishing into the darkness of the night.
Kagome stared dazedly after the taiyoukai as InuYasha ranted behind her. ‘Sesshomaru,’ she sighed mentally.
