Ch. 4
"Did you say he wore a baboon pelt?" Inuyasha asked.
"Yea," Sanura answered, "why?"
"Well, I can tell ya one thing, Sanura," Inuyasha said looking at her, "that was no kitsune messenger."
"What do you mean?" Sanura asked, looking confused.
"What he means is," Kagome started before Inuyasha could, "is that, that youkai that claimed to be a messenger is really a youkai named, Naraku."
"Naraku?"
"Mhm," Kagome looked apologetic at the hanyou.
"Keh, the bastard must've lured your mate away, killed him, then tricked you into taking that egg home so it would kill you and your family so he could get your jewel shard," Inuyasha said, pointing out Sanura's shard.
"This?" Sanura grasped the shard hanging around her neck, "You mean to tell me, that this is the cause for my family's death?" She ripped the shard from around her neck, "If so, then I want nothing to do with it." She handed the shard to Kagome, "It seems you've got quite a collection, here add this one to it," she said with disgust.
"Uh, thanks." Kagome fused Sanura's shard with her own.
"Sanura-sama," Miroku started, "I've been wondering something, did you ever find out anything about your otou-san?"
"My otou-san?" Miroku nodded. "Well, it was not long after the young couple took me in, I had traveled to the village I was born in, the couple had told me they found me near it, but they weren't sure if the villagers would be able to answer any of their questions, so they took me home and tended to my wounds, and when I was old enough, they allowed me to travel to the village. When I got there, I asked if any of them knew who tou-tou-san was, I told them what had happened to my okaa-san. When I asked about my otou-san, the elder of the village took me aside to explain it to me. He said that my otou-san had been a traveling houshi, they didn't know much about him, except that he was a cursed man. He explained to me that the curse was first given to my ojii-san, while battling a youkai. He didn't know much about the curse except that it was a curse to be passed on to his children, the elder thoughat sat since I was part youkai, I would be unaffected by it. That's about all we know about it. When I asked the where-abouts of my otou-san, the elder simply told me that the curse had already taken his life."
"Do you know what type of curse it was?" Miroku asked.
"I'm not exactly certain, but I'm pretty sure that the curse is very similar to your kazaana. Why do you ask?"
"Because the man you just described sounds like my otou-san. Do you know if he ever returned to the village?"
"Yes, the elder said he returned shortly after my okaa-san was killed, he had just heard that he had a daughter, but by the time he made it back to the village, she was dead, and the villagers had thought me to be dead too, only they never found my body, they assumed the youkai had devoured it."
"Hmm, and you say your okaa-san died about 17 years ago, right?" Sanura nodded her head. "That was about the time Otou-san had traveled to a village to see 'a young woman he once knew.' I wonder if it was the same village?"
"It may have been, what was your otou-san's name?"
"Mikaru (don't know his real name, so I just made that one up)."
"That's what the elder said my otou-san's name was."
"Wait, let me just get something straight," Inuyasha butted in, "you mean to tell us, that you two are siblings?"
"It looks that way," Sanura said, then silently added, "so, I'm not alone. Oh, here we are." They had finally arrived at Sanura's home. Suddenly, a small black fuzz ball came charging at Sanura full speed, nearly impaling her in the stomach. "Yami!" She laughed, "I thought the youkai had gotten to you too." Yami, was a fire neko, he looks like Kirara, except his colors are opposite her's (as in where Kirara is a cream color with black markings, Yami is black with the same cream color markings). Sanura turned back to the others, "This is my fire neko, Yami. I raised him since he was a little kitten."
"He looks like Kirara," Shippo pointed out.
"You're right, he does," Sango added, "where did you get him?"
"I recieved him from a village of taijiyas after saving their village from some sort of disease that had been killing some of their people," Sanura explained, "why?""I "I remember us giving away one of Kirara's kittens to a young girl who helped to save our village, I didn't realize she was you."
"Oh, I almost didn't recognize you, you're the daughter of the village leader, are you not?"
"Was," Sango said sadly, "the village was destroyed not too long ago, I was the only survivor."
"Oh my, I-I'm sorry for your loss. How did this happen? If you don't mind my asking."
"Not at all, in fact it's not much different from what Naraku did to you. He lured all of our best slayers away to some castle, while our village was left, unprotected, he had the youkai attack the village, destroying everyone. Then, he took over my brother's body and had him kill all the slayers that were with our group, I was the only one to get away."
As the group chatted, they did not realize they were being watched.
"Ku ku ku."
