Chapter 4
Although she was strong enough to stand, Kaida rode on Miroku’s back for most of the morning. It was when the group decided to take a rest, much to Inuyasha’s complaints, when she was more alert to her surroundings.
“Why hello there sleeping beauty.” Miroku said offering some chips to her.
Kaida took a chip, not so much out of hunger, but out of thankfulness.
“So what was that back there at the lake?” Inuyasha asked once she was finished chewing.
“Do you have to talk so loud Inuyasha?” Kaida said covering her ears, she had a splitting headache and every noise was torture. (Aahh a hangover headache…raise your hand if you can relate!) There had been times when his dog ears had made him hear things too loud and repeated the questions in a quieter tone of voice.
“It’s called an energy release. It takes up all the energy around the things you are near, rocks, birds, trees, whatever, puts it into a ball, and if you successfully haven’t been blown up at that stage, you throw it to at somebody. Efficiently wiping whatever was in front of you.” Kaida said between breaths.
“Oh.” Was the only thing Inuyasha could say. He expected her to lie or to just look at him with a look of ‘I’m not telling you.’ But she had told him and it made sense. The claw had been obliterated and, and like Miroku said, Kagome was alive. They didn’t say much after that. Kagome talked to Kaida for a while about her time, (‘why did it look more like a crab that a lobster?’ Kaida thought to herself) Sango talked to Miroku (which was cut short by a smack to the face), and Inuyasha simply sat there, looking at Kaida ponderihethhether he should trust her or not. He could smell she wasn’t lying about what she had said so far, but there was something she wasn’t telling them. The group finally moved on after a while. Kaida was still weak, but she kept up with the group good enough.
“At least she isn’t slowing us down.” Grumbled Inuyasha to himself.
It was then, when Inuyasha suddenly stopped.
“Kagura! What the hell does she want?!”
Everyone ran for cover but Kaida simply stood there not having the energy to move out of the way. If she had had the energy, she would have moved before Kagura landed in front of Inuyasha and used her wind powers. She was instantly was thrown into the forest that they had been walking next to. That’s when she caught the scent of someone all too familiar to her…
“Sesshoumaru…” She whipped her head around to see where his scent was coming from.
“He must have been following her…” she thought to herself.
He appeared to the right of her followed by Rin and Jaken. Sesshoumaru quietly scanned the scene. Kagura was fighting with Inuyasha, and like always, Inuyasha was aimlessly waving Tetsusaiga around. Sesshoumaru, deciding this was a perfect time to kill Inuyasha and the wench Kagura, ran straight for the battle.

“Perfect,” Sesshoumaru thought, “I’ll kill them both and then go back to hunt Naraku down.”
Unexpectedly, before his sword could kill Inuyasha, somebody had blocked his sword, making Inuyasha aware of Sesshoumaru’s presence.
“Get out of my way!” yelled Sesshoumaru to the unknown youkai in front of him.
“Please forgive me, Sesshoumaru!” Kaidid gid grabbing Tenseiga out of its sheath and using energy release small enough to throw Sesshoumaru back into the forest, but cause little to no damage to him. Immediately both Jaken and Rin ran toward him, hoping their master was alive. Knowing Inuyasha would take this opportunity to go after Sesshomaru and kill him; Kaida also used the same small energy release on him, but before doing so, knocked the Tetsusaiga out of his hand with the Tenseiga.
“WHAT IS SHE DOING?” Kagome yelled as she watched Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha go flying in separate directions. To add to Kagome’s dismay, Kaida proceeded into grabbing the Tetsusaiga!
“Doesn’t she know it has a barrier against youkai?” Kagome thought to herself.
Almost instantly the barrier around Tetsusaiga flashed when Kaida put her hand on the sword.
“Please Tetsusaiga it’s me! I know you, like the Goshinboku tree, are not from this time! So please recognize me as one of your future masters! For my sake and everyone here!” Kaida pleaded with the sword.
To everyone’s shock, including Kaida, the barrier around the sword died, making it possible for her to pick it up and transform it into the deadly fang. Sesshoumaru watched in plain amusement (although it didn’t show on his face) what was unraveling before him.
“How is it she can pick up the Tetsusaiga?” He asked himself squinting his eyes at the female youkai.
With her two new swords, Kaida stood in front of Kagura, who had just stood there the whole time, deciding whether this female youkai was an ally or an enemy. She put the Tetsusaiga out in front of her, while she put the Tenseiga above her head.
“Get away Kagura. Don’t force me to kill you.” She said staring down Kagura.
“Jajajaja kill me? Just try it!” Kagura said forming the dance of the dragon blades. Kaida crossed the swords in an “x”, putting the Tetsusaiga in front of the Tenseiga and ran directly toward Kagura, breaking the wind in doing so. Kagura, not being stupid, deciding that she couldn’t hold her ground against the two swords, jumped on one of her feathers, saving her life. If she had jumped away a moment later, she would have been caught up in the hell storm that both the Tetsusaiga and the Tenseiga had made. An ear-splitting boooooooom rocked Feudal-Age Japan. When everyone’s eyes adjusted they all saw Kaida who passed out frhe ehe energy whiplash in the middle of the fighting scene, and while the explosion should have left nothing in its wake, there was now a field, with trees, flowers, as if nothing had just happened.
“The two swords, life and death.” Thought Sesshoumaru.
Being a full blooded youkai, Sesshoumaru ran into the clearing grabbed Kaida and headed West, with Rin and Jaken on his heels, before Inuyasha was able to interfere with his plans.
“Dammit!” Inuyasha shouted angrily up to his fleeing brother.
“What’s going on? What happened?” Asked Kagome, as she stopped at Inuyasha’s side.
“He took Kaida, and Tenseiga. He would have taken the Tetsusaiga if he would have been able to.” Said Inuyasha looking down at his father’s sword.
“How is it she was able to hold Tetsusaiga?” said Sango coming from behind, startling Kagome and Inuyasha.
“I don’t know,” Inuyasha said, “but I’m going to find out.”
