I Will Call You Slave

Inuyasha worked through the soaking terrain, trying his best not to ruffle the disdained Kikyou who was tucked safely within his arms. She said nothing, only rolling her cheek against her wishful lover’s chest, the brilliance of her touch making him wild. And yet…no matter the arousal that the priestess stirred, it could not dash all the thoughts concerning Kagome, and this kept him moving rather that stop and further indulge a more…coquettish behavior.

Kagome…what have I done? Of all the things I could say and do for you to witness, why is always at the moments when I give in to Kikyou that you appear?

Inuyasha stumbled, nearly spilling his cargo upon the ground, but with a heaving shrug of his shoulders, he managed to juggle her back into his grasp, her hands instinctively pulling at the collar of his costume. The air was thick with the scent of demon, and tinged ever so delicately with terror and pain, the intricate code making his head spin. His eyes were wide with caution, the deepening night making them glitter as jewels. Where was Kagome?!

A crow demon, which had been conveniently perched on a dead branch overhead, threw back its head in a simpering cackle, the sound invoking goose bumps on his arms. Kikyou cu tig tighter against him, softly crying out his name at the sound, and Inuyasha looked up at the demon, fearing it wn emn embodiment of something that was indeed a worry. “Kagome!” He shrieked the woman’s alias, unable to conceal the fit of worry he suffered. “Kagome, where are you?!”

“Inuyasha?”

Inuyasha whirled at the sound of his near, the femininity of it fooling him to the wild hope that it was Kagome herself. She was ok! He had found her, and he could now make the wrongs right again! But his brightening face fell once Sango stepped from the night and into his stare, her hiraikotsu thrown neatly over her back as she finished clipping the last bit of armor on her arms. The pink and black decor should have been easily spotted to even the blindest of creatures, but somehow in all their travels Sango had never been spied by her attire. Her expression was one of confusion and slight bother, but before inquiring directly as to why Inuyasha was stumbling about in the shadows without them, she threw her voice over her shoulder, calling for Miroku. Miroku tore himself from the bushes soon enough, holding his hand to his chest as though he had been sprinting for quite some time. The two companions looked to their white-haired friend, and then to the bundle in his arms.

“Inuyasha,” Sango cried, hoisting her head indignantly, “ why is she here? You know the trouble she brings us!”

Inuyasha snarled deep within his throat, causing the other girl to take a step back. Kikyou’s lips twisted in a sneering smile, turning her face into Inuyasha’s coat with a barely audible sob. “Inuyasha! Don’t let them inflict harm upon me!” Inuyasha, who was fully sucked into the act, lowered his face to Kikyou and kissed her forehead with a tender coo in his voice.

“Inuyasha! Where is Kagome!” This was Miroku’s turn to speak, who watched the display with a small hint of disgust. He raised himself with the aid of a walking stick he had seemed to uncover, leaning to it with a heavy sigh. He was only human himself, unable to pull the scents from the air and discover their secrets, but he was perfectly skilled in the art of feeling auras. Sesshomaru’s being quite a capable sensation, he easily knew that the demon had made his presence. Unnoticed until now, Shippou’s pale face poked from Miroku’s robes, where he trembled with justified fury.

“You fool!” He barked, showing the tiny points of his teeth as his lips twisted back. “How could you? How could you?!”

The mention of Kagome ShipShippou’s voice snapped Inuyasha from the priestess’s spell over him, and his face was blotted with fear and anger, looking at the sky to see the crow demon again. But it had gone, leaving only its scent behind. Damn! He truthfully felt that the demon had answers it might give, whether it was the cause of Kagome's’ abduction or the witness of it. Gently, with obvious strain in doing so, he set Kikyou down, despite the panic in her voice when she said his name again. He ignored Sango’s distasteful snort, motioning with his hands to inspire his concern. “Kagome is missing! I believe Sesshomaru has taken her away!”

“Well duh, Inuyasha.” Sango turned her back to him, trying to mask her well of tears. She had shared the ache of similar heartbreak with Kagome before, and she understood the emotions that must be trapping her det frt friend as they spoke. She might have let Inuyasha slip away from such an act before, but actually bringing Kikyou with him and then kissing the dead woman’s face while they watched was far from passable! She quivered in rage, lowering her gaze to the ground, which was trampled by all their feet. Certainly enough, it was more ravaged from Sesshomaru’s and Kagome’s conference, but she could not track them simply by this. Inuyasha made a sound that she could not identify, she she interrupted him before he threw a hateful comment at her. “Inuyasha,” she said softly, closing her misted sights, “don’t even bother to make up for what you’ve done. We must only accept the idea that you were under some spell when it happened, and let it go. We must find Kagome.”

Inuyasha wiped at his eyes in frustration, helplessly caught between the love at his feet, and the love that he could not find. He looked from Kikyou to the sky, searching fruitlessly for answers, and then he crossed his arms over his chest, listening to Sango. The cold air made his face itch from the small escapade of tears he had dared let show, and he only nodded, not daring to let himself speak.

“Sango is certainly right,” Miroku said, placing a hand emptily on Inuyasha’s slack shoulders, “we will not ask just why you did this. All that matters is finding Kagome.”

“Right.” Inuyasha lowered his head, defeated, and scooped Kikyou up again, before turning a braver, darker face to the group. “We will find Kagome,” he said simply, hoisting the sulking woman higher, “and I will kill Sesshomaru for ever touching her.”

Kagome had been ‘slumbering’ for over half of the journey back home, putting mild worry into Sesshomaru about how strong this supposed reincarnation was. Perhaps he had been too rough? But he grinned with insinuate manner hence her stirring, the gurgling moan exciting the hairs of his ears. His eyes gazed over her with a possessive obsession, letting the passenger awaken without saying a word. When her eyes fluttered open at the brown colors fell over him, he felt her stiffen and writhe in his arms. He let her do so, suppressing a chuckle by grinning at her again.

“Tell me, Kagome,” he said sweetly, touching his cheek forcefully to hers, “where is your dearest Inuyasha now? Why has he not attempted to stop me yet?” He relished the whimper she uttered, while her face was burrowed in her free hands, the scent of her tears clear to him. He did not hush her…did not demand that she answer. Her sorrow was pleasurable to him, and his ears flirted back against his head in evidence of this, letting them both remain quiet for the rest of the trip.

He finished gliding about the fields, the grass becoming drier with each stride he took closer to home, as he found distaste in rain and had banished the season’s rain with little more than a thought. He had a horde of weather demons under his reign, and should he find his throat parched of thirst, all he had to do was summon them. Nevertheless they were both soaked, the chilled whistle of wind cutting deep into Kagome’s bare flesakinaking her shiver uncontrollably.

Sesshomaru landed tidily on his walkway, trusting that his castle would still be intact over his brief absence. He looked up, not disappointed as the sprawling estate met his gaze, the moon’s light modestly hiding the huge manor. It had no decoration, only built to serve Sesshomaru, as many things had been. The walls climbed into the sky a moderate 80 feet or so, provided to assure that a demon, no matter the strength in his legs, could scale the wall. Of course, should one find its thr through there, it would find itself dead in time. His liking of flowers was evident, and a blooming garden stung Kagome’s nose as they passed the royal doors, the different perfumes making her sneeze more than once. Sesshomaru only cast an annoyed look her way, as though offended she did not find his odd choice of hobby pleasing.

He had not bothered to say anything more to her, but Kagome knew that she was in some sort of deep peril. Sesshomaru was not the kind of guo plo played rough simply because he was not aware of his strength…he preformed rough acts because he found enjoyment in it. Her midsection pulsed from its earlier treatment, finding her throat to be scratchy from her unheard screams she had tried to force in the forest. Her thoughts fled to Inuyasha and the swollen memory of him and Kikyou, finding a new scar hidden in this demonstration. Sesshomaru had hinted some sort of truth…why had Inuyasha not come to save her yet? Surely he had not stayed that far behind? Or perhaps…perhaps he wanted her gone, so he would not have to explain himself. But no! Sango, Shippou, and Miroku surely would not let her slip away so easily. She smiled to herself somewhat, comforted by the hope that she was loved by her friends.

Her imagination was interrupted when she was tossed carelesto tto the ground, letting a short scream escape when she bounced on the marble floor. Anger flushed in her face, looking up with an uncontrolled look of hatred on her face, the color splashing back to her cheeks. Her skirt rode up suggestively, and she was busy pulling it back down, when Sesshomaru kneeled to her, licking his lips as he spoke.

“Kagome,” he said, bringing his face uncomfortably near, “I have taken you away. You are now mine. You will not try to escape…or I will kill everyone you try to hide with. Until Rin is returned to me by your foolish friends, you are my property.” He brought his hand to lay on her arm, tightening his grip when she tried to duck away from it. “And I think I know what I want to call you.” His golden eyes, which would be identical to Inuyasha’s were it not for the sinister intentions behind them, played into her gaze with a promise of her future. “I want to call you…Slave.”
