Inuyasha sat next to the bone-eaters well, watching the sunrise. It had been over 10 hours and still no sign of Kagome.

It took all his pride to keep him from going to go get her. He felt awful, no that’s not right, he felt like shit. The hanyou sighed as he continued to think about what had happened between the two.

’Before the whole incident with Kikyou, Kagome and I were getting along great. It fact everything was going wonderfully until then. After Kikyou showed up, Kagome has become distant and she’s started to act beyond unusual’

His troubled thoughts continued. ‘Maybe Sango is right, something has possessed her’ Inuyasha’s mind then yelled in frustration. ‘And I couldn’t even sense it!’ The hanyou turned his gaze away from the rising sun and down to the grass.

The suns dim light made the grass seem to glow. ‘A warm bright green…a lot like her eyes’ Inuyasha quickly shook the thought away, and looked at the well angrily. “why can’t I stop thinking about that damn wench!” He yelled as frustration filled him.

“oh come on Inuyasha, you’re not that stupid” A familiar wise voice rang through his ears. ‘I really need to stop thinking about that wench…Its letting my guard down’ Inuyasha thought quickly before facing the dark haired monk behind him.

“Oi, I suggest you leave me to my thoughts if you don’t want to end up as my own personal punching bag” Inuyasha warned. But Miroku had a goal set, and he was going to achieve it no matter what Inuyasha threaten to do.

“Inuyasha, Kagome is hurting really badly. I know you sense it even better then I can, she needs you more than she will ever let you know” Miroku was going to continue, but Inuyasha cut him off.

“How! I can’t even protect a dead women, how can I even protect one that is alive” Inuyasha yelled feeling a little bit better at lashing out. Miroku, however, didn’t take any offence and continued.

“Well, maybe you can’t protect the dead one because your fate is not meant to. Look, no matter what happen the other day, its not going to change the way Kagome feels about you” Miroku said in a ‘as a matter of fact’ tone.

Inuyasha gave him a questioning look. “elaborate monk” He said while staring him down. ‘Can he really be that dense!’ Miroku thought as he shook his head.

“I don’t think it is my place to say, Kagome should be the one to tell you” Miroku said. “That’s if she ever gets the courage to” He then added under his breath, but still clear enough so the hanyou could still understand.

“What was that?” Inuyasha said as his interest in the subject seem to be rising. “Like I said before, its not my place to tell you anything, but I will leave you with one thing…she feels the same exact way you feel for her” Miroku said in a wise tone, and began to leave when he was stopped by Inuyasha’s voice.

“And how do you know how I feel for anyone?!” Inuyasha yelled more hysterically than anything else. “Inuyasha, you and Kagome might not be able to see it now, but all of us around you can” And with that the monk turned and headed back to the hut.

Inuyasha sighed heavily. ‘How is that going to help me in anything, I don’t even know how I feel for the girl…I don’t even know how I feel about Kikyou anymore. Sure I would do just about anything for Kagome, but…what about Kikyou, I owe her anything she wants, right?’ Inuyashaughtught, questioning if he even believed that last part anymore.

Inuyasha continued to ponder on his thoughts until the confusion became unbearable. He got up quickly heading toward the well. ‘I’ve given her plenty of time, plus she and I need to have a little chat’ Inuyasha thought, while jumping into the well.

After fallowing Kagome’s sent, for what seemed like hours, Inuyasha found himself at an unfamiliar house. ‘What in the hell is that wench doing in there’ He thought angrily.

Inuyasha balled up his hands into fists as he walked over to the closest window, which happen to be the living room window. He peeked inside and saw Kagome sprawled out on the sofa.

She was laying on her back, one arm over her face and the other hanging off of the sofa. Her head looked as thought it was being swallowed into the sofa cushion. Inuyasha couldn’t help but think how anyone could look so troubled and so beautiful at the same time.

The hanyou quietly opened the window, and he was about to crawl in when his ear picked up two sets of footsteps headed for Kagome’s direction.

The man on the left had bleached blonde hair, and the other had black hair. “How is she doing, Nicole would have my head is she would have found out her cousin almost keeled over while she was here” The man on the left said.

The other man laughed. “Nah, I took good care of this little beauty” he said, and reached out pushing Kagome’s arm away from her face. Inuyasha couldn’t help feel the a fire rage in him as this man touched her so affectionately.

“Aww…has my kid brother become attached to this little girl?” the blonde man teased. “No, I just want to fuck her” The dark haired man said while laughing. The blonde soon joined into the laughter.

They both continued to laugh until Kagome started to stir. “Mmm…Inuyasha?” Kagome muttered, and slowly opened her eyes. Inuyasha’s heart tighten at the way Kagome had said his name.

“Heh, looks like your not the guy she’s thinking about, eh Luke?” The blonde man continued to tease his younger brother. “Oh fuck off Jade, leave me to take care of her” Luke said sounding a little pissed off.

Jade just nodded as he stiffened a laugh, and walked out of the room. Kagome hadn’t been paying attention to the two, since she was still trying to take in her surroundings.

Inuyasha watched jealously as the man, apparently named ‘Loke’, made his way around the sofa and sat next to Kagome’s laying figure.

Kagome looked up at him with a questioning look on her face. Luke just laughed and pushed a strand of Kagome’s jet black hair from her face.

Inuyasha’s line of tolerance was about to brake. Kagome lightly pushed his hand away and sat up quickly. “I don’t really remember much of last night” She said while trying to hold back a yawn.

“Well hun you gave my brother and I quite a bit of a scare last night, we almost thought you were going to die on us” Luke said as he placed a hand on her knee.

Inuyasha was about to leap into the window at that moment, but held back as Kagome got up quickly and grabbing her red bag. “Look, I appreciate your help with last night, but I have to go now, I didn’t intend on staying the night, I‘ll show myself out” She said as she made her way to the door.

Kagome soon felt a hand around her wrist. She looked back to see Luke smiling sweetly. “Hey, there’s no need to be so nervous, look you almost left your shit behind” Kagome looked at the direction he was pointing at and saw her altiods box, and her crack pipe on an end table.

Kagome blushed as she made her way to the table. “I took the liberty to refill you with some of our best cocaine, and its on the house, but all you have to do is just relax a little bit, ant met me get you some water, you must be thirsty” Kagome nodded and sat down on the sofa.

It was true, she was dying of thirst. “Good girl” Was all Luke said, and then he turned, making his way out of the room. Inuyasha then took his opportunity.

He leapt into the living room, facing a dumbfounded looking Kagome. He quickly ran up to her and pulled her on her feet. “Oi wench, its time to go” Inuyasha said angrily as he pulled her toward the window.

Kagome, shock stricken, only nodded. She then realized something and pulled away from Inuyasha’s grasp. “Damn it wench what is it?” Inuyasha asked as he watched her grab the items off of the end table.

“Quite Inuyasha, you don’t want them to hear you do you” Kagome whispered. “I just almost forgot something, you don’t want me to end up coming back here again” She said as they both sneaked out of the window, and left the property with out being detected.

“listen Inuyasha, I’m still angry with you, you had no right coming after me, how did you know where I was anyway” Kagome said as she walked along side the hanyou, as they made there way to Kaede’s hut.

“Feh, how else, I fallowed your stomach turning stench” He said, feeling she disserved to be insulted. “you’re such a jerk! I never insult you, why do you have to do it to me?” Kagome asked angrily, stopping in her place and looking up at the hanyou.

Inuyasha stared deeply into her eyes. “What were you doing there?” He said calmly. ’please don’t lie to me’ He silently added. “That is none of your business, and you still haven’t answered my question” Kagome said, as rage started to fill her.

When he didn’t answer soon enough, Kagome started to walk away. But then Inuyasha pulled her into him and held her in a tight embrace. “Kagome, like you said about Kikyou, it is my business, you’re hurting, I can smell it”

Kagome held onto him as if her life depended on it. Her heart soon filled with happiness as he held her so close. Kagome was so overwhelmed with the feeling, she felt tears slowly fall down her face.

Inuyasha smelt the salty sent and lifted her head up so that his amber orbs looked into her bright green ones. Kagome’s breath caught short as she stared into the very eyes that could penetrate her soul.

“Oi wench, please don’t cry, I hate it when you cry, just let me protect you” Inuyasha said. Kagome felt the familiarity of that last phrase. Inuyasha closed his eye’s and leaned in, to soon feel an angry slap on his cheek.

He took a step back, and looked at Kagome’s rage filled face. “Listen asshole! I will not be a substitute for that bitch Kikyou! Just because I look like her doesn’t make me her!” Kagome yelled as now angry tears flowed out.

“Kagome I…” Inuyasha started to say but then was cut off. “NO! Just leave me alone!” Kagome yelled and then ran off to the hut. Inuyasha only stared dumbly at Kagome’s retreating figure.

That night Inuyasha sat up in the god tree, trying hard to find out what he had did wrong. ’I tried to kiss HER! How could she think I’m using her as a substitute for Kikyou?’ His thought soon changed into another naging thought.

’Why did I even try to kiss her anyway, I know I care for her, but do I care that much? And what about Kikyou…now that I really think about it my love for her died when she did…but don’t I still owe her?’ The confused hanyou’s thoughts soon came into a full circle.

’So I don’t care for Kikyou that way anymore…can it be that Kagome is the one I’m in l…’ Inuyasha’s thoughts were then interrupted by Kagome, who sped walked by the tree and headed down to the hot springs.

Inuyasha was about to fallow her when he heard another set of footsteps. Sango soon came out of the bushes and fallowed down the same path Kagome had taken. Inuyasha leapt down and fallowed quietly behind Sango.

Sango crutched down and hid into a set of bushes. Inuyasha then imitated her. “You know I don’t think Kagome would approve of this” Inuyasha whispered. Sango jumped slightly, but then relaxed.

“Shh…I want answers. She’s not telling me anything, and she’s giving you the silent treatment. So I suggest you shut up and watch” Sango whispered forcefully. Inuyasha would have argued, but held back knowing it would blow there cover.

They remained silent as they watched Kagome pull out a glass pipe from her bag. She then pulled out a lighter and an altoids box. “That’s the box the guy said had more cocaine in it” Inuyasha whispered with out realizing he said it out loud.

“What, you have explaining to do later” Sango whispered angrily. When Sango had looked back at Kagome, the girl had put a little white chunk into the hole that was in the little bulb of the pipe.

She then brought the opened end to her mouth, and lit the lighter bringing the flame to the bulb. The pipe soon filled with smoke as Kagome inhaled it and then exhaled quickly. Kagome repeated that a few more times and then placed the pipe down on the wet grass.

She then got up and stripped down. Sango gave Inuyasha a look to look away. The hanyou soon did and felt a blush creep onto his face. As Kagome immerged herself into the water, Sango took the opportunity to crawl out of the bushes.

“What are you doing?” Inuyasha hissed. Sango ignored him and quietly crawled to Kagome’s bag. She grabbed the altoids box and the glass pipe. She then retreated back to the bushes without Kagome noticing.

“What are you doing?” Inuyasha asked in an annoyed whisper. “Well…this is it, this is what’s controlling Kagome. Where going to take this and ask Miroku what he thinks this is” Sango whispered back, while pocketing the objects.

“What do you mean we, if she finds out, its all you” Inuyasha whispered back, as he glared at the daemon exterminator.

That fallowing morning Sango and Miroku sat near a tree, while Shippou played with Kagome’s cards. Inuyasha approached them and sat across from the monk.

“So have you…” Inuyasha started but then stopped as Sango glared at him while pointing at Shippou. Inuyasha nodded as he looked over at the kitsune.

“Oi brat, go play with Kagome” Inuyasha said dryly. “but she’s sleeping” Shippou said as he placed another card on top of the other.

“Well then go take a nap with her, or better yet tell her that I was beating up on you” Inuyasha said in an annoyed tone. Shippou gave him a questioning look.

“NOW RUNT!” the hanyou yelled, causing the kitsune to run into the hut where Kagome was sleeping. “So monk, what do you think about this cocaine stuff” Inuyasha asked, trying to sound bored.

Miroku was about to answer when Kagome’s voice rang out “SIT!” Causing the hanyou to meet the ground head on. Sango couldn’t help but laugh at the poor hanyou.

“So as I was saying” Miroku started to say as the spell on Inuyasha started to wear off. “I really don’t know anything about this strange powder” Inuyasha let out a ’Feh’ at the monks answer.

“Well then that means we will never be able to find out, and if we don’t find out what this stuff is then how can we help her…Miroku, Inuyasha told you what he saw in Kag’s time and what happen here…are you sure you can’t figure something out?” Sango asked, her voice filled with pleading.

“Well there is one thing” Miroku said confidently. “Out with it monk!” Inuyasha yelled. “We can always confront her about it” The monk said simply.

Frustrated Inuyasha sighed angrily. “Feh, fine that’s exactly what we’ll do” He said while getting up. “Wait, just let her rest, shsn’tsn’t slept all night, we’ll confront her after dinner” Sango said in a more demanding tone than a pleading one.

“Are you sure you’re not hungry Kag?” Sango said offering a bowl of Oden to her. “Nah, I’m ok thanks” She said simply, while looking at her bag.

’I can’t believe I lost it! I need to find is before I get sick again” Kagome’s mind screamed. Kagome continued to replay her events of the night before over and over again.

Kagome’s thoughts were soon interrupted though. “Kagome, we really need to talk to you” Miroku said in a deathly serious tone. Kagome laughed nervously as she looked away from Miroku, only to lock gazes with a set of amber orbs.

Although she was ignoring Inuyasha, she couldn’t stop staring at him. “listen Kagome we know about your cocaine stuff” Sango said a little quickly.

Kagome continued to stare at Inuyasha. “I don’t know what you’re talking about” She said in a blank tone. Inuyasha who had been silent for so long, sprung up as raged filled him.

“LOOK WENCH! I’M SICK OF HEARING LIES COME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH!” Inuyasha yelled as he advanced on her. Kagome quickly backed away from the hanyou.

“I DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT!” Kagome yelled at the top of her lungs. “OH REALLY!” Inuyasha yelled as he reached into his pocket.

Kagome’s breath quicken, and she could feel her guilty tears trying to escape. “if you don’t know what the fuck I’m talking about, then what in the fuck is this!” Inuyasha yelled, but not to the extent he was before, while he pulled out the altoids box and pipe.

He practically shoved them into her face. Miroku and Sango stared wide-eyed at the two, while Shippou ran to Kagome’s side. “Leave her alone!” Shippou yelled while getting into an attacking position.

“Stay out of this pup, I’m only trying to help Kagome” Inuyasha said in a warning tone. Shippou could see the sincerity through the anger and nodded, moving away from Kagome.

“Now tell me what this is!” Inuyasha’s yell starting to grow louder again. “how dare you get into my things!” Kagome yelled back as she reached for the objects.

Unfortunately for her, Inuyasha was quicker and he threw the box and the pipe into the fire. The tin box opened on impact and the glass shattered. “YOU ASSHOLE! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME!” Kagome yelled through uncontrolled sobs.

She jumped to her feet and attempted to attack him when she felt arms wrap around her. Inuyasha had pulled her into a tight hug. Kagome tried to pull away, but then gave up, knowing that his strength was to much for her.

For the next five minutes Inuyasha continued to hold onto the sobbing girl. She was like a glass doll, so fragile that if you held her the wrong way she would just shatter into pieces. Sango quietly approached the two.

Sango rubbed Kagome’s back reassuringly. Kagome turned her tear stained face to Sango, who also couldn’t help but cry. “Kag, look at yourself, what ever this stuff is, its destroying you. Your really skinny, you hardly sleep, and you just seem so empty now” Sango cried.

Miroku pulled Sango into a warm embrace, as she let out all the frustration she had been keeping in. Kagome gently pulled away from Inuyasha’s hold. A fresh batch of tears escaping from there prison.

She started to cry even harder as realization hit her in full force. “oh my gods…I have just been hurting you all” She said quietly, as she fell onto the floor with a thud. She felt as if her whole world was just pulled right from under her feet.

She sat there, right hand clutched over her mouth, as she gently rocked herself back and forth. Kagome closed her eyes, for what seemed like only a second, and opened them to stare straight into Inuyasha’s amber orbs.

“Kagome, please tell me the truth” Inuyasha said in a pleading tone. As Kagome stared into his eye’s she felt as if her soul was bared naked in front of this hanyou.

This hanyou, who she had finally came to realize at that very moment. Was the only one that held her heart. She took in a deep breath…
