Chapter 4: A Gift

InuYasha and Kagome left Kaede’s hut with smiles on their faces. Many oe mae married and older villagers understood the looks the two had. The others, namely the children, did not know. Kaede herself did not know whether or not to be happy. Sure, her sister’s reincarnation was happy, as was InuYasha. But did the hanyou see Kikyou or Kagome when he looked at the girl?

“Would you mind if we went back to my time for a day or two,” Kagome asked.

“What could you possibly want from there,” InuYasha barked out.

“What is so wrong about me going to MY time to see MY family and My friends,” countered with a glare.

“Feh, I’d like to see you try and go back there. You can’t out run me.”

Kagome smirked at InuYasha. The hanyou backed up in fear, the smirk did not bode well. “SIT BOY!”

“Gyah,” InuYasha cried out as he was harshly thrown into the ground.

“Once you are ready, come to my home. I’ll be waiting for you,” Kagome called over her shoulder as she walked to the Bone Eater’s Well. [Looks like I will have to teach this old dog some new tricks,] Kagome thought with a larger, more evil smirk.

InuYasha had just sat up from being forced to the ground. He had the rosary in his hands, trying to pull it off. “Why did that old hag have to put this on me,” he growled out, claws trying to rip through the necklace.

“I put it on ye to keep Kagome safe,” Kaede said nonchalantly.

“You are going to pay for this,” the hanyou continued as he attempted to lift the object over his head.

“It is futile, InuYasha,” Kaede said.

“I,” InuYasha pulled at the necklace, “get,” he clawed at it, “this,” he began to gnaw on the beads, “off!”

Kaede just shook her head.

A crack was heard followed by a cry of pain. Kaede turned to see that InuYasha had broken a fang on the rosary. “Ye had been warned,” Kaede sighed out.

“Grr,” InuYasha growled. InuYasha grabbed hold of the rosary and began to pull at it while he fell onto his back. “Get,” tug, “off,” pull, “me,” slash of the claws.

“Only Kagome can remove the rosary,” Kaede said.

InuYasha stopped thrashing about and stood before the old miko. “Why didn’t you tell me that before,” he asked while one of his eyes twitched.

“I did, you didn’t listen.”

InuYasha fell over. After recovering, he sprinted off to the well.

Kagome sat in her class bored. Sure, missing school was bad, but at least today was delayed because of a storm in her time last night. Wind, rain and lightning had knocked out the power to the street her high school was on until 8 that morning.

[At least I didn’t miss anything today,] Kagome thought with a sigh. [In some ways I feel dirty in this uniform. I’m no longer a virgin and this uniform seems to state innocence.] Kagome gave out a heavy sigh. [Oh well, at least I still have the jewel,] Kagome gripped the necklace through her coat, [and InuYasha.]

A bell suddenly rang, jarring Kagome’s mind back into the real world. Looking at the clock, Kagome saw that school was out for the day. [And no homework,] Kagome thought with a smile.

As she walked to the door, Kagome was ambushed by her three best friends, Yuka, Ayumi, and Eri.

“Ok, spill,” Yuka said.

“What are you talking about,” she asked.

“We know you had a very bad cold the last couple of days, but why did Hojo-chan constantly visit you,” Eri asked.

Kagome had a look of confusion on her face at what was being said to her.

“He kept taking herbal medicines and holistic remedies to your place,” Ayumi added.

Kagome now understood what they were getting at. [Jii-chan said a guy kept coming by the shrine. He had brought medicines and wishes for me to get well.] Kagome blushed in embarrassment.

“So what did he REALY do at your place,” Eri prodded.

“Nothing,” Kagome defended herself.

“Your blush says otherwise,” Yuka added.

“I didn’t see him while I was sick,” Kagome added.

“Then why are you blushing,” Eri asked.

“Um. . .” Kagome uttered out.

“What are you hiding,” Yuka prodded.

Kagome began to blush more. [What do I say? I’m a miko, guardian of a sacred jewel and capable of traveling through time? I also recently lost my virginity to an inu-hanyou from the past?]

“Well,” Yuka pushed.

Kagome looked to the clock nervously. “Sorry, I have to go,” Kagome said hurriedly as she ran past her friends and out the class door.

InuYasha sat on Kagome’s bed angrily. After he had come out of the well, Mrs. Higurashi saw him leave the shrine:

“Oh, hi InuYasha,” Mrs. Higurashi said.

The hanyou froze in his tracks and turned to Kagome’s mother. “Where is Kagome,” InuYasha asked with a hint of anger.

Mrs. Higurashi smiled. “She’s at school,” the woman answered. She then walked over to the hanyou and began to tweak, pet and scratch his ears. “These ears are so cute,” Mrs. Higurashi cooed.

InuYasha’s left eye twitched as he let the woman ‘touch’ his ears. “When will Kagome be back,” he growled out.

“Not until this afternoon.”

InuYasha growled audibly, tempted to go after his mate.

Mrs. Higurashi pulled her hands away from the hanyou’s ears and looked into his angry eyes. “What’s wrong,” she asked.

“I need to speak with her,” he said.

Mrs. Higurashi smiled and grabbed hold of InuYasha’s clawed hand and pulled him into the Higurashi home. “You will just have to wait for her. Would you like anything to eat?”

“I am hungry,” InuYasha said as he allowed himself to be pulled into the kitchen and sat down at the table. He watched as Kagome’s mother pulled out a cup that was covered and various writings on the side with pictures of noodles, vegetables, meats and some kind of broth. “What is that?”

Mrs. Higurashi turned to the cute hanyou at the table. She saw him looking at the cup in her hand. “This is ‘instant ramen’. It’s basically ramen with vegetables, meats and seasoning, but dried out so it won’t go bad. When you want to eat it, just fill the cup with hot water and wait a few minutes before eating it,” Mrs. Higurashi explained as she prepared the ramen and handed the cup to InuYasha with a set of chopsticks.

InuYasha gratefully accepted the food and began to eat it. “Mmm, I can see why this would catch on,” he said with his mouth full. It took him just a few minutes to eat the food and drink the remaining broth. “That was good.”

[And now I’m juaitiaiting for Kagome to return to her home,] he thought to himself.

“Kaa-san, Souta, Jii-chan, I’m home,” InuYasha heard Kagome call out. He just continued to sit on Kagome’s bed.

After just a few seconds, Kagome entered her room, only to see InuYasha, legs crossed, sitting on her bed. She did not know what to think.

“I’ve been waiting for a while wench,” InuYasha growled out as he stood up next to the bed. “Now take this rosary off me!”

Kagome crossed her arms as she glared at her mate. “I will not take your leash off,” she barked back.

“You will or I will be forced to punish you,” InuYasha threatened.

“Sit boy.”

“Ah,” the hanyou groaned as he was thrown onto the floor.

“You won’t hurt me,” Kagome calmly said.

“And why not,” InuYasha asked angrily from the floor.

“If you do, you won’t get a gift.”

InuYasha’s head perked up, the spell having worn off. “What kind of a gift?”

“A temporary solution to protecting the Shikon no Tama,” Kagome coyly said as she straddled InuYasha’s now sitting hips. She held out the jewel in her right hand without the necklace. Pulling open InuYasha’s haori, she pushed the jewel to her mate’s chest, right over his heart. Kagome concentrated her recently found miko energies into the jewel and began to press the orb into InuYasha’s heart. Once she felt the Shikon no Tama was inside her mate’s beating heart, Kagome pulled her hand back.

InuYasha was in a state of shock. Kagome had just merged the jewel with his body, giving him the power he always wanted. He could feel the energies course through his veins, charging him with strength, speed and more from this gift. InuYasha looked at his mate with a truly surprised look.

“I only gave you half of the jewel,” Kagome said. “The other half is in me. We are now sharing its power.”

InuYasha did not know what to say. With out thinking he pulled Kagome against his chest and kissed her passionately. After a minute, they pulled apart, breathing heavily. “Thank you,” he said.

“You’re welcome,” Kagome replied with a smile. “Now we just have to figure out how much stronger we have become.”

“I know one way,” InuYasha stated huskily.

“Oh, do you now,” Kagome coyly asked as she ground her hips into her mate’s crotch. InuYasha moaned and held his mate closer as he captured her lips in a soft yet passionate and loving kiss. Kagome pulled back from the kiss after several seconds. InuYasha tried to kiss her again, bhe hhe held a finger over his lips. “I need to get something first,” she said.

InuYasha groaned but nodded as he spoke, “Alright, but make it quick!”

Kagome giggled as she got off her hanyou’s lap and ran out of the bedroom. She quickly made her way down stairs and into the kitchen. Opening the refrigerator Kagome began to look through.

“What are you looking for dear,” Mrs. Higurashi asked.

Kagome jumped and looked to her mother with a blush. “I was wondering if we had any whipped cream,” she responded.

Mrs. Higurashi’s face contorted into one of curiosity. “What for,” the older woman asked.

Kagome’s blush deepened. “Um. . . uh,” she stuttered.

Mrs. Higurashi saw this blush. Suddenly she realized why her daughter wanted the whipped cream. “Oh,” she said, “you want it for InuYasha.” Kagome blushed more. “Don’t be embarrassed.” Mrs. Higurashi walked over to her daughter and embraced Kagome in a warm, motherly hug. “It’s alright to enjoy making love, even ‘experimenting’ with it.” Mrs. Higurashi pulled back from the hug. “Just keep it down for us, ok?”

Kagome smiled to her mother and nodded. “Now where is the whipped cream,” the miko pressed.

InuYasha was waiting for just a minute when Kagome came back into her room, an object in her hand. He saw her close the door and lock it before she pounced onto him. InuYasha was shocked at his mate’s speed, even more so by the fact he could track her every movement. “You’ve gotten fast,” he said.

Kagome smirked as she kissed InuYasha. “It’s the jewel,” she said after breaking her lips away. “Now,” Kagome said, pulling out the ‘object’, “it’s time to show you what this can be used for.” Kagome’s smirk widened as she disrobed both of their bodies in just a split second. “Time for the treat.” Kagome sprayed some the whipped cream onto her nipples. She bent her body over to let her hanyou ‘clean’ her off.

InuYasha sniffed the white substance on his mate’s breasts. He could smell that the stuff was food, sweet food. Opening his mouth, InuYasha took Kagome’s cream covered nipple into his mouth. The hanyou turned away from the window and closed his tired eyes.

Kagome awoke to a buzzing alarm clock and the rising sun in her face. Quickly turning off her alarm, Kagome sat up, stretching her arms back and over her head. Suddenly she felt her body pulled down to her mate only to have her lips captured in a kiss. Kagome’s shock was short lived as her arms draped themselves over InuYasha’s head as she kissed him back. When they pulled back from the kiss for much needed air, Kagome held her finger to InuYasha’s lips. “Not now,” she said, “I need to get ready for school.”

InuYasha frowned. “Why do you have to go to this ‘school’ thing,” asked with an edge.

Kagome glared at her mate. “Because I have to,” she barked back.

“Grr, you are not going to school!”

“Sit boy,” Kagome ordered. InuYasha was forced into the bed, giving Kagome the time to get off and don a bath robe. “I’m going to go take a bath. You can go down stairs and have breakfast.” With that said, Kagome walked out of the bedroom, uniform in hand, and into the bathroom.

InuYasha just lied on the bed, staring at the ceiling. “What is so great about school,” he wondered out loud. “All Kagome does is waste time, time that could be spent in better ways.” He shook his head. “Feh, stupid bitch.” Standing up, InuYasha grabbed hold of his kimono and put it on. He walked out of the messed up bedroom and by the bathroom. He heard Kagome humming as she was moving around in the tub. Shaking his head again, InuYasha walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. He saw Mrs. Higurashi working to fix breakfast for the household. He could smell the rice, fish and something else being cooked. Approaching her, InuYasha spoke up. “What cha’ fixing,” he asked.

Mrs. Higurashi turned to see the ‘cute koinu’ and couldn’t help scratching one of his ears. InuYasha gained an indignant face as one of his eye’s twitched. Retracting her hand after a second, Mrs. Higurashi turned back to the food before answering. mak making rice, grilling some halibut and making miso soup,” she answered.

“And I could smell it from the stairs,” Kagome said as she entered the kitchen. She was dressed in her school uniform, hair slightly damp, bag hanging off her back and face glowing in happiness and joy. “So, how long till we eat?”

Mrs. Higurashi noticed the slight bounce in Kagome’s step and satisfaction in her eyes. [I see the whipped cream worked very well,] the mother thought. “I’m serving right now, so sit down,” the older woman said while placing food on the table for all five people. “I’m going to go get Souta and my Tou-san for breakfast.” With that said, Mrs. Higurashi left for the two male members of the family.

Kagome and InuYasha sat down at the long edge next to the kitchen counter. InuYasha was on the left, Kagome on the right. The halibut was on a traditional raised plate with ginger root to the left and wasabi to the right. The rice was white in a ceramic bowl and the miso soup was in a plastic bowl. On the right of the food were chopsticks on top of a soft fabric napkin. InuYasha was impressed by the setup and almost lowered his face into the food to eat like a dog.

“Go ahead and eat, InuYasha,” Kagome giggled out as she picked up her chopsticks.

The hanyou grinned as he suddenly downed the entire bowl of soup before tackling the halibut and finally the rice. Kagome giggled as she ate at a more sedate pace. InuYasha had eaten the entire breakfast in less than a minute and was now slouching in his chair, a grin on his face.

“That was good,” he sighed out.

“What was good,” Souta said as he entered the kitchen with Jii-chan behind him.

“InuYasha was just admiring Okaa-san’s cooking,” Kagome answered.

“The youkai is eating at MY table,” Jii-chan gasped out as he saw the silver haired boy.

“He is not a youkai,” Kagome said indignantly, “he is a hanyou. That makes him half human.”

Jii-chan just stared at his granddaughter like she had grown a second head. So, just to save his ears, the old priest sat down at the foot of the table to eat his breakfast. Souta followed suit, but right across from InuYasha.

“InuYasha,” the young boy called out.

The hanyou opened his eyes too look at Kagome’s younger brother. “Yes,” he gruffly asked.

“Kagome told me about how you have saved her all those times,” the kid said with a glint in his eyes.

“Yeah,” InuYasha pressed with slight fear.

“I just want to tell you that you are my new hero!”

InuYasha reeled back in utter fear and shock. “W-what,” he stammered.

“I think it’s sweet,” Kagome piped up.

“WHAT?!” the hanyou continued.

“As do I,” Mrs. Higurashi said warmly.

“WHAT?!?!” InuYasha hollered out with absolute terror.

Before anyone could say another word, Souta was holding onto the trembling hanyou’s torso, head nuzzling InuYasha’s chest.

Note: I will not tell you all that InuYasha and Kagome will now be able to do with half the jewel in each of their hearts. Do note that their strength, speed, reflexes and senses have gone up (not to mention their longevity *looks at them with SEVERE ENVY*). What this will amount to is a drastic change in future battles. I should also tell you that I am working on my other stories. I will update them when I can. I am truly sorry about posting a new story but not updating my others.
