Chapter 4: Family Aionsions
InuYasha looked at Kyoto as if he knew this already. Seeing this, Kyoto looked at him with curiosity, “Did you know of my existence, InuYasha? You don’t seem shocked,” Kyoto stated with surprise.
InuYasha smirked, “I had a feeling that Sesshomaru was not my only sibling. But, from your smell, I guess that you are from a thirtherther. I can also smell a great deal of magic with you as well.”
Kyoto was surprised about his assessment of her but just smelling her. Kyoto then realized something, he was in a full demon form, he had been hiding his face until he spoke. InuYasha’s eyes had blue irises, white pupils and the ‘whites’ were blood red. Despite this very scary look, his eyes displayed control. InuYasha is able to control his full youkai form?! He is stronger than any other youkai, even our father! But how did he get so strong, Kyoto thought. Deciding to ask about this piece of information later, Kyoto answered her brother’s questions that were stated as observations. “My mother was neither yours or Sesshomaru’s, she was a sorceress. I inherited her magical abilities. Before I explain anything else, I would like to come in and sit down.”
Kagome answered before her mate would say anything, “Come in Kyoto, I’m Kagome. Oh, because I am InuYasha’s mate, can I call you my sister?”
Kagome’s question gave Kyoto a smile, some asked to if Kyoto could be called a sister. “Kagome,” Kyoto smiled as she said the name of her new sister while sitting down, “I would be honored. Sesshomaru basically disowned me because I am a half breed and the ‘product of an affair’.”
The ‘product of an affair’ line was what made Kagome look at her with surprise, concern, and support. InuYasha gave a look of joy, he had a sister, and she might be ato tto tell him more about their father. Kyoto took the opportunity to explain everything.
“Before I start my story, I want to ask you both to hold your questions until I am finished. It began when our father was trying to protect InuYasha and his mother from attackers. I do not know who or what they are, nor do I care. All I care is that he was devoted to his family. After the battle, he thought he was the only one left. Father thought that InuYasha, his mate and Sesshomaru were dead. He had no way to know they were alive.
“While my mother, Namiyo, was out one day, she came across an inu-youkai in human form. When she got closer to examine this youkai, Mother noticed it was a male and badly injured. Mother than drug him back to her village to help him. My mother was caring when it came to others. As she began to heal him, he looked up at her and mouthed a ‘thank-you’.” At this time Kyoto looked at her older brother, he was lookat hat her with shock. He knew his father had survived from meeting Kyoto, but he was unable to get the story from Kyoto before she was killed by Naraku.
“As Mother nursed him back to health, Father told his story. He told of how he tried to protect his family, thought he failed and more. Mother was told that he was the Lord of the Western lands. hey hey grew fonder of each other, they mated, I was the result. Father did his best to raise me as a well mannered little girl. Of course, from what he said to me, I had the natural curiosity that InuYasha had. This was when we both learned how to walk to when we were 10 years old. The blade weapon is part of a set of three. All weapons of this set had their blades made from one of Father’s fangs. He said Sesshomaru had a sword called the Tensaga and InuYasha was supposed to get the sword Tetsusaiga. The Naginata and Tetsusaiga both have the power of the wind scar, an attack capable of killing 100 youkai. The Tensaga however, it can heal and/or raise 100 dead/wounded youkai and/or humans. I have mastered the Naginata, but you InuYasha, where is your Tetsusaiga?”
InuYasha looked at her with exasperation, “I was never given it. If it still exists, I am going to want to find it so Sesshomaru cannot use it.”
Kyoto nodded and continued, “As I began to wander Japan, I stumbled across Sesshomaru. He said I was a disgrace, an insult to HIS father and blood line. After saying that, Sesshomaru said I was not his sister, just an ugly hanyou. I continued to travel, eventually finding out that I had a second brother. Still older than me, he was the second child, his name: InuYasha. For years I searched for you. When I finally came across your scent, I followed it to a tree that had a large dent in it. There I noticed InuYasha’s scent and yours Kagome. At first Kagome’s scent was human, then when I got closer to the tree, it was hanyou. I also noticed that InuYasha had just begun his heat cycle. Following your two scents further to a well, I jumped in, came out and found that I was some where else.
“My mother told me of some of the things I saw, these ‘doors’, ‘door handles’, and what I see in here. Mother said they were from the future. If this is the future, how far ahead did that well send us?”
Kagome was the one to answer the ‘when’ question, “ That well sent you about 500 years into the future. If you don’t mind, I’m tired, you interrupted us when we had just finished our third round for today and my mate and I are tired. Come on, you can sleep in our room sister.”
Kyoto smiled at being called a sister, deciding it would be best, Kyoto nodded. Following the two up the stairs and into a small room, Kyoto noted more of the ‘gadgets’ her mother had described. s nos not so bad here, I could get used to visiting this time often.
Kagome went to her closet, opened the door to it and pulled out some blankets and a pillow. Setting them up as a bed next to the floor, Kagome gestured to Kyoto that she would be sleeping there. Kyoto graciously accepted, it would be the first time in decades that she would sleep in a warm bed. Kagome answered before InuYasha could protest, “Ok mother. We will be down in a few minutes.” Foot steps were soon heard signaling Mrs. Higurashi’s departure.
Kyoto noticed that Kagome said nothing about her. Kyoto decided to voice her question, “Kagome, why did you telltell your mother about me?”
Kagome saw her sister’s uncertainty, “I did not want to tell her yet, she did not know you arrived last night, neither does Jii-chan or my little brother Souta.”
Kyoto nodded, Kagome was going to tell them all at once. With the conversation finished, they all dressed to meet the family. Going down stairs, Kagome and InuYasha walked side-by-side holding hands. Kyoto was behind them, she had left her weapon in Kagome’s room so as not to scare her soon-to-be family. Walking into the dining room, Kagome gave everyone a smile, InuYasha was neutral and Kyoto hung back so she could be introduced.
Souta was the first one to react; he started jumping all over Kagome and InuYasha with a grin. His rantings about how ‘cool she looked’, to ‘what happened’ and ‘can I change like that too’ were all spilled out within seconds. Another hour passed as Kyoto retold her life story. Souta was VERY happy. Kyoto just had the effect of just making him smile. Kyoto looked at him, pat him on the head and smiled at him. Souta grinned back, this was a sister he could really like.
Mrs. Higurashi noticed this exchange and asked Kyoto a question, “Do you like kids Kyoto?”

Kyoto nodded and continued, “As I began to wander Japan, I stumbled across Sesshomaru. He said I was a disgrace, an insult to HIS father and blood line. After saying that, Sesshomaru said I was not his sister, just an ugly hanyou. I continued to travel, eventually finding out that I had a second brother. Kagome saw her sister’s uncertainty, “I did not want to tell her yet, she did not know you arrived last night, neither does Jii-chan or my little brother Souta.”
