Don't Leave Me
Chapter Thirty-Eight
Kagome felt like her head was splitting, she had the world's worst hangover. She couldn't remember anyone slipping her any saki though. She didn't even try to attempt to open her eyes but layed there. She could hear voices, loud voices! Someone needed to shut the fuck up and stop screaming. What were they deaf? A moan escaped her lips when she tried to roll over in bed. Pain shot through her side. 'Ouchouchouch, that hurt.' She tried to remember what had happened. The car! It had been heading straight for her and Sango. She'd put a barrier but it had fallen. Sango. Was she okay? She tried to speak, "Sango."
Kurama heard her speak and ran to the side of the bed. "Kagome are you awake?"
"Sango, okay?"
"Yes, she's okay. How do you feel?"
She tried to open her eyes but the light caused her pain. "Like shit. Cut the light out."
Kurama walked over and hit the switch going back to her side. He ran a hand over her face, "Your mother should be back soon. They went to go visit Sango."
"The baby?"
"She was in labor when they brought her in. They weren't able to stop it."
"No," Sango must be heartbroken. Kagome felt tears come to her eyes.
"Don't cry, he's okay. You forget Yusuke isn't all human. The child was developed enough to breath on his own. They have him in an incubator in the nursery. He will have to stay here a few weeks but he will live. Most demons are only pregnant for 30 weeks and Sango was in her 25th, she probably would have had him soon anyways."
Relief filled Kagome at the news. As long as both were alive and okay, she could live with her headache. "How long ago was he born?"
"Only five hours actually. You and Sango were both out of it for two days. They woke her up when her water broke."
Kagome knew it wasn't her place to ask but she had to. "Yusuke?"
Kurama smiled, "He came to the hospital with me. He hasn't left her side the entire time."
"Bout damn time." She looked up at him. "You look worse than I feel." His hair was a mess, he had on the same clothes from the other night and he had circles under his eyes.
"Thanks," he laughed. "I haven't left yours either."
This suprised her, "You didn't have to stay with me."
"Yes, I did." He leaned forward and brushed a kiss across her cheek. "I love you, don't scare me like that again. Don't ever leave me Kagome."
Sango woke up when a tall woman walked into the room. She'd slept for two days after being brought in, they had her doped up on some drug trying to stop her contractions. She'd woken up when they informed her that her water had broken, that she'd have to deliver. She'd been upset at first fearing that her child would die. Yusuke had made his presence known, he grabbed her hand and whispered into her ear.
"He'll be fine, he's part youkai remember." His words had reassured her. As Sango went through the birth he stayed by her side. Which suited Sango just fine. Every labor pain gave her an excuse to hit him. Their son was born weighing almost three pounds which suprised the doctors. He should have been a little over just one pound, almost twice the size he should have been. They both knew why. He was tiny but healthy.
The taijiya looked up when the woman came into the room. The first thing she did was slap Yusuke across the face. Which caused everyone to pause. "What the hell was that for?"
"I'm you're mother and I was the last to know that I was going to be a grandmother thats why." She turned and looked over at Sango. "Hello, I'm Yusuke's mother."
"Hi, Sango."
They nurse knocked on the door, "Hello, I came to get the parents."
Sango tried sitting up in the bed, she wanted to see her baby. Yusuke went to her side, "Don't get up by yourself. Here lean on me."
"I can walk just fine thank you." She shot back.
"I never suggested you couldn't. Just be quiet and let me help."
"Fine," She felt his arm go around her waist supporting her. She was just thankful he hadn't decided to carry her bridal style. Everyone else piled out the room, to the window in the nursery. They wanted to try and get a good look at the new addition. While everyone was at the window peering in Keiko came up. She knocked on the glass to get their attention. Sango smiled at the girl but turned her attention back to the baby that looked exactly like his father.
