SUMMARY: “I don’t want to tell you again, Kagome.” Sesshoumaru hissed, as his face moved closer to her. She sighed against his mouth. “Tell me what?” Then Kagome rubbed her nose against his, not thinking very clearly due to Sesshomaru’s proximity.

CHAPTER 39: A HESITANT FIANCÉE

‘BINGO,’ Kagome’s thought. ‘Why the hell wouldn’t I be? I haven’t been truthful to him, or the rest of my friends and family for that matter. And I can only imagine the commotion he is going to make.’ She didn’t look at Sesshomaru but only listen with some interest at what point was he trying to make.
“He will not care Kagome. Inuyasha loves Kikyou; not you. It is best to get over that fact.” As Sesshoumaru continued to talk to her, he couldn’t help but get jealous. ‘She still has feeling for the idiot.’ Sesshoumaru paused for a second, trying to remain calm. “Tell me, Kagome, who, in the end did he ask to marry him? You?” His tone did not hold back the biting sting of his remarks.
Kagome went rigid. ‘So, that was his game.’ She stiffly cocked her head and glared at him. “I do believe, Sesshomaru, that Inuyasha made his choice, but it was his to make.” Kagome stopped walking and planted her feet to the ground. They were going to finish this little talk before she moved anywhere. “Else, why would I have agreed to marry you? It couldn’t because you are pompous ass ….” Her temper was rising through the roof.
Sesshomaru turned his head back to her, and she lost all train of thought. “I heard Kikyou make a comment to one of the employees at the club that night. She said you were just damaged goods, and that no one will want her, she isn’t worthy for any man.” He saw the flash of rage in her stormy eyes. ‘Good,’ he thought. ‘I don’t want her concerning herself with doubt about what would have been between her and my injudicious half brother. He is not worthy of her.’
A scream was threatening to escape her lips. ‘Damaged goods! Who the hell did Kikyou think she is anyways?’ And why did the arrogant asshole, in front of her, constantly rub it in her face. “Tell me, fluffy,” she stressed his pet name, “then why is it you want to marry this, damaged goods?” She said threw clenched teeth as she pointed to herself. Kagome didn’t love Inuyasha like she had in the past. Over time it had changed. It was like a deep rooted friendship that she would do anything for, and if he couldn’t see that then maybe he didn’t deserve her loyalty and friendship any longer. Kagome’s feelings had changed, maybe evolved, a little and it was a scary because what she felt was something for her business partner/ fiancée. Sesshomaru knew how to push her buttons, but in the back of her mind she thought she could sense his jealous. ‘Jealous? No, not him.’
Sesshomaru knew Kikyou was speaking a falsehood. Kagome was still a virgin. She had never been touched. That fact made Sesshomaru happy for some reason. “Listen, my Kagome,” he murmured, “you are mine, and I will not tolerate for one moment, if you hold any ideas that Inuyasha will changes his mind about you.” ‘I will kill him before that,’ he thought darkly. “You will only be thinking of me.” ‘From now on,’ he added silently. “So, I suggest that you compose yourself and act like my fiancée.” He squeezed her hand with finality, but still Kagome didn’t move. Sesshomaru’s eyebrow arched up at her rebelliousness.
“Sesshomaru, I will be what you so demandingly desire. I would give you no less!” Kagome said vehemently, trying to pull out of his hold. “I just wished you wouldn’t get angry with me, because this is a most unusually situation.” She looked uncomfortable.
Sesshomaru could tell she meant what she said, but he could still see the distant far off look winning Kagome over. He jerked her to him in one fluid motion, using the hand he was holding as a pulley on Kagome. She was crushed against his muscular frame, while Sesshoumaru locked his arms around her waist. Sesshoumaru smirked when he heard Kagome let out a little yelp of surprise.
Kagome lifted her face up to look at him.
“I don’t want to tell you again, Kagome.” Sesshoumaru hissed, as his face moved closer to her.
She sighed against his mouth dramatically. “Tell me what?” Then Kagome rubbed her nose against his not thinking very clearly due to Sesshomaru’s proximity.
“You will only be thinking of me.” He demanded. “No one else!”
With that promise he sealed it.

Meanwhile…
Kikyou felt Naraku’s presence on the estate. ‘What is he doing here? Well, he is probably curious to find out who Sesshoumaru’s fiancée is. Ummm! I’ll have to find him.’ Before Kikyou went off to look for him, she looked around cautiously. She wanted to make sure that her fiancée was nowhere insight.
Kikyou spotted him talking to that horrid couple, Miroku and Sango. Why he even bothered associating with those two was beyond her. The three of them appeared to be consumed with their conversation, so Kikyou figured it would be safe to seek out her lover.

“Attention Ladies and Gentlemen.” Came a voice of the loud speakers. “It is now time to introduce Lord Sesshoumaru and his betrothed.”
The large group of people all shuffled to the large spiral stair case. The three friends were rushed by the large masses of people excited about the revealing of Sesshomaru’s fiancée.
Sango dug her heels into the floor in fretfulness when the guys headed for the stairs. ‘Oi, no, this isn’t going to be good. Inuyasha is going to blow his top. All hell is going to break loose, in a whirl wind between two demons and a little miko. Kagome, please, I hope you know what you are doing? Because this is so going to hurt Inuyasha.’ Sango started to fret over the next coming minutes.
“Sango? What wrong with you?” Miroku tugged at her. “Don’t you want to see who the infamous female is, who is engaged to Sesshoumaru?” Miroku notice her hesitancy and gave her a quizzical look.
“I, um, well…” Sango muttered.
“Speaking of which….” Inuyasha turned and scanned the crowd, looking for his fiancée. “Where’s Kikyou? She wouldn’t want to miss this.” He didn’t see her anywhere, so he decided to go looking for her. “I’ll be back guys.” Inuyasha called out to them as he ran off in search of his fiancée.
