Golden Eyes

Mirage and Sesshoumaru just kept feeling grossed out by their mates as the other males munched on spider webs through the caverns with Touga even stopping to grab a gob of it since he was basically only there to protect his sons not fight for them.

Scales eventually got sick of finding webs everywhere and threw fire out from his fingers as they kept moving forward. Once they reached where the smell was the strongest they found six different tunnels leading different directions.

“So which one since they all smell strong to me. I swear it is like those creeps are coming from every direction in here.”

Mirage sighed. They would have to split up.

“Well I guess each one of us takes one. We are just dealing with lower demons, a few measly humans, and some half demons. I doubt we aren’t powerful enough to handle them on our own until the others get there.”

Sesshoumaru looked at Inuyasha like he lost his marbles.

“Are you insane? This is not the feudal era Inuyasha and you are susceptible like it or not. We go in twos so everyone has a back up. That is the safest way to go.”

Inuyasha growled at Sesshoumaru.

“I thought this was my deal and you guys were going to let me lead? What can’t handle that I might be right?”

Sesshoumaru growled at Inuyasha.

“I can handle many things, but you have been wrong little brother more often than right. Shall we count how many times I had to save your friends, you, and let’s see everyone else because you made bad choices?’
“You may lead us into battle, but I am still the strategist in our family. You will follow these orders for your safety because I will not have you blown up in some area of this damn place nor the others.’
“Father, Blades, Robby, and Scales may be able to handle themselves. We four may be able to defeat an army of humans, undead humans, a handful of priests, and a bunch of demons. I am not saying we are weak or that we couldn’t do things your way. It would be foolish to do so Inuyasha. You must think before acting.’
“Our lives are not the only ones hanging by a thread. Your people need you alive, your people need you to help them see that you are one of them, and you decided to leave Hallow behind so it is your fault that I have to make sure you are safe from even your own people if they do not recognize you. They are all under spells remember? You don’t want to harm them do you? Do not be so damn stubborn, proud, and pig headed just because you think you are in charge Inuyasha. You earn respect; you don’t just get it handed to you. They may know of your heroics, but they do not know you.”

Inuyasha hated being lectured but Sesshoumaru was right as he hung his head in defeat.

“Damnit, it is just that it has been so long……..and it feels good to be the Alpha even for a little while.”

Sesshoumaru held Inuyasha in his arms.

“I know this. I know you hate that you cannot be the Alpha some days. I know deep down you are one and just because you are my beta doesn’t mean you are not one to your people. Your little pack still sees you as the Alpha. Even Kouga does even if he doesn’t admit it. You are my second in command, but Kouga likes doing the ruling stuff more with me then you do. You are a fly by your pants impulsive man who scares the shit out of us some days. You are a great leader Inuyasha, but you cannot be so brash. Now use that smart head of yours to think of how you want to do this so I do not have to embarrass you again.”

Inuyasha nodded as he kissed Sesshoumaru and then leaned against the wall thinking. If I were a trap door spider where would I go in here? Hallow said this was his home. Fuck it!

“We have to go back and get the kid.”

Sesshoumaru nodded as Kouga took off.

“Ok that is the first thing, now what.”

Mirage stated as she sniffed around the different caves. It was frustrating.

“Did you ever think that this might be an illusion?”

Inuyasha didn’t know much about trap door spiders. Touga shook his head at Mirage.

“No, the trap door clans are tunnelers. They would have several running underground. One could say they create their own little labyrinth so that if they ever have one hole close they can go to another as well as catch prey from multiple locations. This is just the beginning Mirage. I can guarantee one little trap door spider can create hundreds of these tunnels not to mention the other half demons here who are under grounders like him. Some are dead ends to confuse predators, but most lead somewhere.”

Mirage could see how a predator might get confused with the similar smells and just give up.

Kouga came back with Lee who was carrying Hallow on his back. The boy was asleep again.

“Poor kid is worn out.”

Touga stated as he looked over the child feeling that familiar paternal emotion only to have Scales roll his eyes.

“We do not have time for this. We have killing to do and I don’t want you getting attached Touga. We don’t have time to fool about with your obsession with cute little human pups. Personally I want to eat him, but I am not allowed.”

Blades looked horrified as Lee backed away growling at Scales who laughed a bit.

“I am a serpent, a dragon Lord. We eat spiders, most herbivores, and rodents. I am behaving, but don’t expect me to stick around if you don’t want little Hallow to become my lunch.”

Touga growled at Scales.

“I thought we got you off that diet and you will not eat any of these children Scales. This is not a hunt for you so behave you ass.”

Scales smirked.

“What you don’t know won’t hurt you my love and besides….I have to have desert on occasion. You can’t take my nature from me Touga even if you take everything else not that I mind. If it makes you feel better I will start eating grasshoppers.”

Hallow woke up.

“You can’t eat Tina dragon Lord. But, you can eat that demon bastard that keeps yelling at us. He is a lizard and I hear you can eat your own kind if they are a different species.”

Scales laughed at the kid who was starting to turn back into his true form. He licked his lips as the smell of young trap door spider was in the air.

“Delicious………”

Touga looked at the two and sighed.

“Scales quit looking at the boy like he is your next meal.”

Scales sighed.

“Well he is a bit on the skinny side so I will let him go.”

Hallow felt so weak, he couldn’t even walk.

“Inuyasha what is wrong with him?”

Inuyasha turned around and he was human.

“We are being purified. Nothing new.”

Kouga threw up and Lee started to back away.

“Here give me the spider kid and you two stay here.”

Scales stated as he went over to Lee who almost bit Scales on the hand as his eyes glowed red.

“Mine!”

Lee snarled as he forced himself forward only to almost fall down.

“Scales, don’t tease.”

Touga stated as he growled at Lee to let go of the spider boy.

“Hallow, you can’t go to sleep little one. You need to lead us through the tunnels.”

Sesshoumaru moved over to Inuyasha’s side gripping his arm like a vice. He didn’t want to lose Inuyasha especially when he was so vulnerable right now.

“Stay with me and Mirage.”

Inuyasha sighed. He really wanted to fight, but stupid tessaiga was back to being a dull rusty blade again.

“Stupid purification barriers.”

Blades just walked around with Mirage like they had no issue while the demons were ignoring the pain for the barrier. It slowed them down a bit, but did not stop them as Hallow wearily pointed the direction. Scales was behind him and Hallow really didn’t care that the predator was there although normally he would be on high alert.

Blades was basically bouncing off the walls with Mirage as the demons looked at the two in disgust. It wasn’t fair. They really should have brought Miroku with them too.

“See anything?”

Blades stated cheerfully to Mirage as they bounced endorphins off the walls causing even more hell for the demons who tried not to start laughing for no damn good reason although they were all smiling like idiots. Even Inuyasha wasn’t having issues as he let out a few giggles now and then.

“Nope! Keep going!”

Finally they arrived in a huge cavern. There were half demons in chains on the walls all in human form. A demon was on the alter screaming in pain as two priests, a voodoo Queen, and some other voodoo Priest were trying to purify the creature as a sacrifice to save the souls of those chained to the wall.

The group didn’t even see the demons coming.

The demon lizard looked over to see his King as he felt his body being torn apart. There were blades in his wrists and legs to pin him down that had been purified. He was naked and lying like a sacrifice with another knife held over his heart as the Voodoo Queen continued her chant getting ready to cut out the demon’s heart.

“Enough!”

Touga roared as the humans were shocked out of their trance. Suddenly another creature stepped forward. It was a man in purple robes except this one was a demon wearing some kind of charm.

“Ah, Inu No Tashio and family…. It is indeed an honor.”

The snake bowed before his Lord and then looked in disgust at Inuyasha.

“Lord Kim why are you torturing this demon and my subjects?”

Lord Sesshoumaru stated as the snake Lord hissed at the eldest son of Inu No Tashio.

“Human lovers, both of you, but I will pay you my respect for now. To believe a demon would harbor any feelings to create these pretty abominations is beyond me. I am merely correcting nature as should have been done many years ago. These children are my slaves and these shikigami are just an illusion to bring you here. As if I Lord Kim of the snake clan would sully myself with the likes of humans who are fodder for our kind.”

The humans fell to the floor dead as the demon in the middle of the table stopped crying out laying there panting in pain as his half demon self was now shown.

“He was a half demon?”

Hallow stated softly.

“Yes my pretty pet he was a half demon…….oh so sorry to tease you. Still you misunderstood my intentions little one. You thought I was going to purify you to be human. Not the case my Hallow. You were to become a demon from the souls of all of these ‘friends’ of yours so that you could be worthy in the eyes of your kind. Then I would feast upon you or perhaps kept you as a slave to my every whim. Whatever suited me at the time since you are such an attractive young thing that I would feel had been wasted if I just devoured you. You are a rare one.”

Kim pulled the hair of the young lizard boy on the table caressing the boy’s face as he ran his claws across it making tiny bloody trails.

“He is so pretty too is he not? Some of these half breeds are so attractive, but still such abominations to our kind. So I made use of them, but this one ran from me like you Hallow. So as you cannot behave yourself and finish the job I will insure he dies now in your place. Am I not kind to let you live after your failure?”

Stabbing the kid in the heart the young half demon screamed. Inuyasha went to take off after the boy only to have his brother pull him behind his body as he growled starting to attack the snake only to have the jewel in the charm thrust him against the wall as bars wrapped around the demon Lord’s wrists as well as the others except for Scales who frowned looking around for his mates who were trapped.

“Huh, you are a serpent demon. Figures that it would not work on you although it should have Lord Marcus.”

Scales laughed at the snake.

“I am a fucking dragon asshole, not some damn low breed serpent like you. Besides I ain’t the only one it didn’t work on.”

Mirage and Blades stood looking at their mates as they rushed to battle the snake.

“Oh, I see. Celestials. Well this should work then.”

Suddenly a dark light came from the jewel and Mirage fell to the ground gasping for air as Blades tried to fight only to fall too.

“Dark purification works every time.”

They too were thrust against the wall and chained.

“Now for you, I may not be able to keep you trapped, but I can remove you from my work.”

With that the Lord’s jewel glowed again and Scales was outside of the caves. He could find his way back, but it was going to take a while. Damn it! This was not the plan.
