Chapter Thirty-Five

"You aren't helping Taree." Mai scolded her friend.

Kagome heard none of it as she began to cry in his chest. He was here, they were together again. He was alive, she'd been so scared that she'd never see him again. Her heart rejoiced at seeing him once more but that was it. The thought caused her to gasp, the touch felt like that of a friend. Thats exactly what the problem was, why? Why didn't she feel anything else? Her answer came in an angry shout.

"Release her so I can kill you."

Kagome's eyes widened at the voice. Hiei! He was the reason why, things felt different. When had she fallen in love with him? Taree's luck seemed to be rubbing off on her. She didn't have to pull away from him, the hanyou became angry as the small man threatened him. Kagome felt herself being shoved away to land on her ass.

He unsheathed Tetsusaiga, "I'd like to see you try." He eyed the small man, and was almost afraid. His aura shot around him, black and menacing.

Kagome saw red, not only did Inuyasha have the nerve to shove her but he was aiming his fang at her man. "SIT BOY!" Thud, he landed on the ground suddenly suprising everyone.

"Wow that was so cool, do it again."

Kagome ignored Tar, she was sure it would happen again. He hadn't changed in five hundred years it seemed. She stood up glaring over his still body.

"Fuck, I've forgotten what this feels like. What the hell is your problem? That little fucker threatened me, as soon as it get up I'm going to kill him." Inuyasha was pissed. The little shit had started it first.

"SIT!" Wham, she watched him go deeper into the hole. "Glad to see that still works."

"No, let him stand up first then say it." Tar was put on her feet and she ran over. She extended her foot down into the hole, landing on his tush. "Wow, nice tush, he's really in there. I gotta get me one of those. Would come in handy with Yusuke."

"Riigghht, I'd like to see you try to put one of those things on me."

Kagome tried to calm her nerves, Hiei was walking over to stand at the edge of the crater. "Let him up woman, we will settle this without your foolish interference."

"Boy did you just fuck up big time." Taree ran behind Yusuke. "Better move, she's scary."

"Stupid!" Came the muffled response.

Kagome turned on him, "Excuse me? What the hell did you just say to me? I'd suggest you retract that statement or you will find yourself with your own rosary. Don't piss me off." Her aura flared behind her, going up in flames.

"Can I get up now?" Inuyasha sat up and looked up at her. She wasn't paying him any attention but was looking at the small man. Then his nose picked it up, the man's scent lingered all over her. Seemed she had moved on also. He felt a weight lift from his shoulders. He had a mate and a family of his own. Even though he still loved Kagome they couldn't have a life together. So he wanted her to be happy. Just not with the little bastard glaring at him.

"Don't yell at me woman, learn your place. That fool had the nerve to touch what belongs to me, he will die." Okay that confirmed it.

"I'll yell at you all I want and I don't belong to anyone. My foot is going to find it's place right up your ass, you little bastard." She screamed at him, the nerve of him. Not that she minded belonging to him, he just didn't have to act like she was his favorite pen.

Heads turned watching the yelling match. Hiei took a step towards her, "You overstep your bounds, you shall be taught a lesson in manners."

"I'd like to see you try, shrimp. You aren't man enough you big jerk." Her eyes widened when he appeared before her suddenly. "Eeeeep." She soon found herself over his shoulder being carried away.

Taree watched them leave and ran to stand in front of the hanyou still on the ground wide eyed. "Sit boy." Nothing happened. "Darn it, it's not working."

"Of course not, you aren't Kagome."

"Uhh, I wanted to do it." She stomped her foot in frustration.

"Get up Inuyasha, you are an embarressment." Sesshoumaru walked up the group. He nodded at Yomi, he recognized the blind youkai. "We have come to offer our assistance."

"Very well. Come inside." Yomi turned to show him the way into the city. The others followed behind them, including Inuyasha.

Taree looked at the crater on the ground. She really wanted to get one of those necklaces. She sighed to herself, who was she kidding? She'd be dead in a few days, not like she'd have a chance to enjoy seeing Yusuke slam into the ground by a single word. She looked up when he walked back over to her.

"Forget it, you aren't putting one of those things on me." He'd chop his head off to remove the damn thing. He knew her to well, she'd speak the words just to laugh at him eating dirt.

"You're no fun." She smiled up at him, her heart twisted. He really was too adorable for his own good and hers. Deciding to take a chance, she ran up to him and wrapped her arms around his waist. He returned the embrace much to her suprise, his hand stroked her hair. She brought her face up kiss him softly on the mouth.

His tongue entered her mouth as he deepened the kiss. Someone clearing their throat caused them to pull apart. Jin was standing there, "Yomi said to come fetch ya."
