A Dream of You

The Guardian

Kagome was in a cave, littered with bones of youkai. A woman sat waiting patiently for her, watching her approach. The woman had on old armor, a sword on her side and a mark on her forehead. "Where Am I?"

"With Me."

"Where's that?"

The woman placed a hand over her chest. "There isn't much time, Kagome."

"You know me?"

"Of course, I chose you. You are to be the final resting place of my soul."

Kagome gasped, "Midoriko."

"Yes, now listen. In order for you to be the true guardian, you will need more. There are many reasons I chose you. And now I will bless you with my power."

"Why? How?"

"Shhhh. You will know how to use it upon waking. We need to hurry your friends need you." Kagome stood there as Midoriko covered the few feet that seperated them. Placing a hand on her forehead, she began to chant. A bright light flashed in her eyes, she felt consumed by it.

"Wake up, wake up, they need you."

Kagome slowly opened her eyes, her head felt groggy. A scream caused her to become instantly alert. She sat up in the bed, looking around. Terror filled her when she saw Ayame being pinned against the wall by a youkai while Rin tried to beat him on the back. The small human girl was knocked aside, landing against the edge of the bed.

Kagome climbed out off bed on shakey legs. She walked up unnoticed by both, Rin tried to stop her. Kagome grabbed the youkai's arm and felt the power surge through her. He turned around to look at her, a suprised look crossed his face. He screamed when he felt his power being drained. Ayame felt him release her, she looked to see Kagome.

"What the hell have you done to me?" He screamed. Ayame decapitated him before Kagome could answer.

"Kagome, you're awake."

"What's happening?"

"We're under attack. Thousands of them, too many. Rin and I were to stay here with you, while the others are outside defending. That one managed to get in somehow." Ayame stated.

"Where can I find a bow?"

"The armory, come I'll take you there. Come Rin," Ayame called to the girl. The three took off out the room, straight to the armory. Screams could be heard from outside causing them to hurry. Kagome saw a bow and quickly found a quiver, Rin grabbed two more quivers.

They headed outside into the bright day, what Kagome saw shocked her. She'd hoped the wolf had been over exagerating, sadly no. There had to be thousands and they were all after one thing. Her! She ran forward leaving them to trail behind her.

"Wait we can't just run right into battle." Ayame tried to stop her.

"Like hell I can't." That was exactly what she was doing, running straight into the horde. Upon sensing the power, they started heading to her. "Ayame stand back, I'm not sure if I'll have complete control."

The wolf took off to find her mate, Rin stayed at Kagome's side. Soon chanting was heard, making their skin crawl. "The jewel, give us the jewel." An arrow was notched, and She took aim trying to find a center. There, she released the arrow. Unlike her usual arrow, instead of streaking across in a pink light. The arrow began to grow into one massage ball of light as it tore across, within seconds it collided with hundreds of youkai.

The small girl handed Kagome another arrow, "Thanks." She nodded and smiled grabbing another for when Kagome needed it.

Ayame quickly found her mate, "Sesshomaru, we got a problem." He was standing next to the fox, bat and fire youkai.

"Why aren't you inside with Kagome?"

"Thats the thing." A large blast was seen in the distance, taking out a portion of the youkai. "She's up, and from the looks of it extremely pissed."

"Damn it, no wonder they aren't advancing anymore. They're going for her." He suprised everyone by transforming into his demonic form.

"Fuck Me," Youko couldn't believe his eyes. He'd heard rumors of Lord Sesshomaru's impressive stature.

"At that size he'd kill you," Hiei stated.

Ayame tried not to laugh, "Come on."


Kagome released another arrow. It was endless, where were they all coming from? Hiei arrived the same time as Kouga. "Hey, guys."

"What the hell are you doing out here? Trying to get yourself killed?"

"No, are you?" Kagome looked over at the area and something caught her eye. "Hiei can you give me a ride? I think I see where they're coming from. I'll need your back though."

"Hn." He stepped in front of her letting her climb on.

"Take care of Rin, don't let anything happen to her Kouga." Kagome yelled as Hiei leapt off. She held on as the fire demon jumped around trying to avoid the youkai heading towards them.

"Should have made you take the bus," Hiei jumped out the way as fire blasted around them.

"But I thought you liked holding me," Kagome felt him almost fall over at the comment. Guess he hadn't realized it was his voice that had woken her up that night. "There, take me there." She pointed towards an area where the youkai were thin. Turning around she noticed that it was anything but behind them. It seemed all the youkai were heading towards them. "Better hurry, I don't think we can take all them out."

He could hear Kurama trying to contact him, yelling. "You mean before your mate decides he wants my head." He saw her confused look. "Is he the one doing it?"

"Yes, we gotta take him out. Get me within firing range. Don't let me fall either," She felt him squeeze her thighs, a blush crept up her face. She tried to steady her bow, not only did Hiei get her close enough he landed right beside the youkai. They were coming out his stomach, like it was some type of portal. His head turned when they landed but it was too late. She let her arrow go, a blast destroyed him and the ones coming out.

Hiei leapt back before the blast could take him with it. "What about them?" He could see what was left were still coming for them.

"Don't grope me like that again and hope we don't die. Keep me close enough withing getting me killed. Oh tell the others to back up please. I don't want to accidently kill anyone."

"Buy a cell phone."

"Just do it." She heard him muttering but assumed he was doing it. "Are they getting out the way."

"I told them to but whether or not those two are listening I can't control." He heard the fox's comment. "You might want to wait, they aren't stopping. Sesshomaru and the others are out of harm's way but they are coming this way. You can yell at them."

Kagome spotted them, Youko and Koronue were indeed heading for them. A bunch of demons were on their tail too. She notched another arrow. "Tell em to hit the deck."

A few seconds later she saw them suddenly hit the ground and let her arrow go. The second the coast was clear they were back on their feet. She almost started to panic when they got close, uncertainty filled her. Until she was filled with embarrassment when she felt Hiei's hand inch up and carress her thigh. Her face turned five shades of red, "Hiei."

"Got your mind of it didn't it."

"Thats besides the point, if you don't want me to return the favor don't do it."

Kurama and Koronue got there in time to see the fire youkai blushing. Kagome didn't have time to think as another mass was heading towards them. "Move aside." They split and she fired another arrow.

"Shouldn't have warned them." Hiei said it loud enough for only her to hear.

She didn't know what to say when they stepped beside her. The last time she'd seen them, they'd been about to make out with that whore. The thought made her angry, "What are you doing here?" It was directed towards both of them. She got off Hiei's back and felt her feet hit the ground. "I said to stay with the others."

Koronue was angry that she'd put herself in danger and he didn't like the way Hiei had been holding her. "Who are you to tell us what to do?"

"Obviously, I'm nobody as far as you to are concerned. Thanks so much for reminding me."

"Move," Hiei grabbed her as a blast came down. He yanked her so hard she dropped her bow. It was turned to ash along with the ground where they'd been standing.

Koronue was in the air and Kurama landed next to Hiei. The fire demon handed her over, "Here, her bow has been destroyed, I'll inform the others. Make sure to keep her safe, while we take care of the rest."

"As if you need to tell me Hiei," he said softly.
