The Call For Help
The Call For Help
Kagome sat against the wall and stared up. She had been a fool to run away. Now she was going to die here. After being in the hole for over two days, she was beginning to feel dizzy. No water and food with the heat in the tiny space was draining her. It must be true. No one could find her due to the seal.
Not wanting to give up yet. She once again tried to climb out. Her fingers were raw, bleeding. She couldn't count how many gashes she had on her head. Everytime she went down some part of her body got bruised or cut. Lately, she'd been trying to stretch her body out. The flat of her hands and her feet touched both sides. That didn't seem to be getting her anywhere. It got her up about two feet, then the surface got slippery. She'd end up falling down again.
She was once again trying, her limbs started protesting but she kept going. Her hand hit the slippery surface and she fell once more. This time when she fell her head caught on a rock sticking out the side. She cried out from the pain. Sitting back up she looked up and got an idea. Her hands searched the wall for the rock. Having found it she dug for over an hour, clawing with what was left of her nails to dig it out.
She was elated when it finally came out. It was the size of her fist, but light enough for her to throw. She only had one chance at it. She concentrated on the rock, feeling her power entering it like it would her arrow. She threw it up and out the well. She watched the seal break as the rock passed the top. She felt a sigh of relief seeing it disappear. Without wasting anytime, she screamed at the top of her lungs, praying someone would hear. "SOMEBODY HELP ME!"
They were all sitting in the parlor, trying to console the two men. But what could they say, it had been almost three days since she'd been taken. Most humans couldn't live without water for four days, five at the most. Another day and all hope would be lost.
Hiei was standing near the fox, hoping his presence would comfort the man. He'd never seen the fox cry and it was disturbing to watch. He was looking down at Kurama when the scream penetrated his mind. "SOMEBODY HELP ME!" The bandana was off but he'd had the jagan closed. It suddenly opened and he saw her. "KAGOME!"
They turned when he shouted her name. He took off without saying anything. He didn't need to, they were all on his tail. He could see her at the bottom of a well. He tried talking to her, he could feel her slipping. 'Don't you dare die girl.'
Kagome heard him and smiled as she sat down. It had worked, surely they'd come find her now. She closed her eyes, trying to wait. What she wouldn't give for some fries and a cheeseburger. And some ice water. 'Can you stop by the drive-thru on the way over here?'
'Hnn. No, Kurama tells me that food isn't any good for you.'
'He would. Mr. I Only Eat Salads. Must be a fox thing.' She smiled at the memory. 'Hiei, thank you.' She felt herself falling asleep.
'Don't go to sleep. You have to stay awake.'
'Wake me when you get here.'
Hiei stopped suddenly. He felt her go, obviously so did the fox because a shout was heard in the distance. He continued to make sure. A few minutes later he found the cave, he ran inside. He almost fell in the well himself. He jumped down to land beside her still body. He reached out and picked her up. She was no longer breathing as he jumped out the hole. As he walked outside the cave everyone showed up.
Kurama was already crying, Koronue walked up to him and took her. "Kagome."
"Give her here," Sesshomaru walked up to him. "I'll see what I can do. Place her on the ground." Koronue did as he said. He withdrew the Tensaiga, he hadn't used it in centuries. He brought the sword down across her.
Her chest began to rise once more. Koronue picked her up again holding her to him.
