Chapter 30:

A few days later Mirra, Sango, Kagome, and Sessha sat in a hot spring relaxing from the past days. Inutaisha still was confused about what happened. She had blanked out and wanted to know everything. She watched Kagome and Sango splash each other as Mirra laughed and her sister stared on in disinterest.

"What happened?"

Kagome looked up at her. "We told you Inutaisha. Their gone."

"That's not explaining it enough. I need to know what happened." Inutaisha urged them.

Kagome did not want to upset Inutaisha, however, she needed to know. "You sliced through them Inutaisha. The jewel shards made you stronger and you used your claw to slice through them both. It was so strange. It was as if they dissentigrated on the spot. Like there was no Naraku or Naraka."

"That's it? Are you sure?"

"You are leaving out something." Sessha interrupted. "It was through the combined power of the shards, yourself, and your pups that you and your counterpart defeated Naraka and Naraku."

"Why Sessha, I never knew you could compliment." Inutaisha said teasingly.

"It wasn't a compliment. It is the truth." Sessha replied matter-of-factly.

"Kagome, I have to ask you something. When are you and Inuyasha going to mate?"

Kagome blushed deeply, "Inutaisha!"

"So I can't ask about you but you all were all in my business with Kagoru." Inutaisha said as she crossed her arms.

"I don't know if we are going to mate." Kagome replied.

"You're not incapable. If Inuyasha won't initiate it then you do it." She looked at Kagome then said, "Don't let him drag his feet."

Kagome smiled. "I won't."

"Good," She smiled, "now let's relax. We need it."

Later during the day Kagome sat under a tree thinking about what Inutaisha had said. She realized that Inutaisha was right and if she wanted Inuyasha then she needed to tell him so. "What are you doing out here alone Kagome?" Inuyasha asked her.

"I wanted to think for a while. Will you sit with me?" She replied.

"Yes." Inuyasha replied as he sat next to her.

"Inuyasha...I love you and I realize that if I do not tell you now that I might risk never having a chance with you." Kagome began but was silenced by Inuyasha placing a finger over her lips.

"I love you too Kagome." He responded softly.

He pressed a kiss against her lips as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Her fingers softly entwined in his white hair as he kissed her deeper. She gently pulled back and smiled at him. "You really love me?"

"I have for the longest time Kagome. I did not know how to get over Kikyo's death. I love you." He paused momentarily. He looked sideways as if expecting someone. "Kagome...it's Kimi and Koga. Their back."

"Inutaisha! She will be in danger." Kagome cried out.

Inuyasha laughed. "Kimi is the one who is in danger. Inutaisha is pregnant and her sister has made a vow to kill Kimi as well."

"But what about Koga?"

"What about him?" Inuyasha returned with a soft smile on his lips.

"Come on. We have to help Inutaisha." Kagome said as she pulled him towards the village.

"She's not that way." He told her as he directed her to the forest. "She and Kagoru are in the forest. Climb on my back." Kagome did as she was told and watched as they both headed into the forest toward Inutaisha and Kagoru. She knew there was going to be a confrontation. Inutaisha wouldn't let Kimi come close to her mate especially while she was pregnant.

'What the hell!' Inutaisha thought to herself. 'Can't Kagoru and I ever get some damned peace?!' "What are you doing here?" She asked Kimi angrily.

"I've come to take Kagoru back with me." Kimi replied.

"You bitch! You think you are going to take my mate away from me! You better start running!"

"Please Inutaisha..." Kagoru started as he took hold of her arm. He could feel the strength of her muscles tighten underneath her kimono. "Let's not do this!"

"Kagoru," She tried to reason with him, "I have to. She's been threatening us since she showed up in our life."

"No you don't. She means nothing to me! Don't bother with her." Kagoru replied.

"I can't believe you would choose this...mutt over me!" Kimi interrupted.

"That mutt happens to be carrying my children and i'll have you not call her that." Kagoru replied as his eyes narrowed at Kimi.

Inutaisha smiled at her mate then turned to Kimi. "Go home. I don't want to hurt you."

"Ha, you hurt me? Unlikely!" Kimi returned.

"You have enemies here Kimi. I'm not the only one who is angry with you. Go back!"

"You heard her Kimi!" Kagome's voice interrupted.

"Stay out of this." Kimi replied as she eyed Kagome.

"No! You are such an arrogant person. You can't see past your own predjudices. Leave Inutaisha and Kagoru alone!"

Inutaisha smiled at Kagome. "Thank you Kagome."

"You'll regret it Kagoru." Kimi replied as she narrowed her eyes at him and Inutaisha. She ran off, not having the power she once possessed before to threaten Inutaisha.

"I hope you defend me like that Kagome." Inuyasha said with a laugh.

Kagome smiled demurely at Inuyasha, "I will."

Inutaisha cleared her throat, "Well I think we should leave Inuyasha and Kagome alone. Eh Kagoru?"

Kagoru laughed as she pulled him with her, "Yes."

Kagome turned towards Inuyasha after the two were out of earshot, "Where were we?"

Inuyasha smiled then wrapped his arms around her waist as he said, "Here." He pressed his lips against hers. Kagome pulled on his haori harshly after their lips parted.

"Are you going to make me your mate or what?"

"Kagome, you are extremely bossy."

Kagome smiled back at him, "I know."

"I like that."

"Good."

Inuyasha bent his head over her neck and gently kissed at the junction between her neck and shoulder. Kagome smiled to herself as her fingers intwined in his hair and she felt a sudden piercing pain. She gasped as the sensation melted into pleasure. Her eyelids fluttered as she felt him lick at her neck then everything went dark.

Later, when Inuyasha and Kagome rejoined the group they were greeted with a knowing smile from Inutaisha. It had taken a long time for the two to finally get together but it was all worth it. Now they had to simply wait for Inutaisha to have her children.

Nearly eight months had passed and Inutaisha was getting ready to have her pups. Over the past months she had become much closer to her sister. It was a surprise to everyone when they had started to become closer. Inutaisha gasped as she felt her water break. 'So much for thinking over the past.' She thought to herself. "Kagome!" She shouted.

Kagome slid open the wooden door and asked, "What is it?"

"I'm in labor." She told the girl patiently.

Kagome gasped. "I'll have Inuyasha get the midwife."

Half an hour passed before Inuyasha arrived with a midwife. Kagome, Sango, Mirra, and Sessha had surrounded her. Sessha had provided her sister with support as the other three females surrounded her. "No men!" The midwife shouted as she shooed the males away from the hut. "You," she pointed to Kagome, "heat me some warm water." She then pointed to Sango, "Get me some blankets."

"I'll prepare some tea." Mirra said.

"You know which herb to use?" The midwife asked in a doubtful tone.

"Yes. I am a priestess you know." She replied proudly.

Sessha glared at the midwife, no one was going to order her around especially a human midwife. "I'm staying right here."

"Suit yourself." The midwife said to Sessha. She then focused her attention on Inutaisha. "Spread your legs dear. We will try to get this over as soon as possible."

"Just make sure my pups are safe." Inutaisha commanded.

Kagome returned with some warm water in a bowl as the midwife took a blanket from Sango and put it under Inutaisha's bent legs. "Now dear push."

Inutaisha knew it was going to be hard but she found that what should take a short time was taking hours. She panted softly as Kagome took her hand and squeezed it in sympathy. "It's almost out. The first one is crowning Inutaisha." Sango said while assisting the midwife. Sessha grasped her other hand as she screamed agony. A wail met her ears. "He's a beauty." The midwife said then cut the cord connecting mother and child.

"There's another!" Inutaisha cried out.

"I know dear. Even an old midwife can tell." She responded. "You're almost done."

"I hope so." Inutaisha replied with a soft laugh.

Sessha looked at her nephew who was currently in Sango's arms. He looked just like his mother. He had the same snow white hair as his mother and the same dog-like ears. She felt her sister grasp her hand tightly as she pushed out her second pup.

Inutaisha cried out as she felt her second pup come out easier than her first. She felt the familiar pain then sighed in relief as she heard another wail. "Ai! (Ah!) She's so cute!" Kagome cried out.

"I agree!" Sango cried out.

"Oh Inutaisha you have such beautiful children." Mirra interrupted.

Sessha agreed with the humans but did not voice it. She looked at her new niece. She looked more like her father than her mother. She had black hair but kept the same furry ears that her mother had except her ears were black.

"You can look later. She needs to clean up and feed her babies." The midwife interrupted.

After Inutaisha had time to clean up and feed her babies, the males were allowed back in. Kagoru had joined Inutaisha and smiled as he saw her resting in a white kimono with a child in each arm. "So what do you think we should name them?"

"We will each name one. Which one do you want to name?" Kagoru questioned back.

"Doesn't matter. Pick one."

Kagoru thought for a minute then said, "I will name the girl. Her name will be Shizuka. For she is such a quiet little girl."

"I'll name him Ichiro since he is the oldest." Inutaisha added as she yawned.

"Get some sleep. Everyone can wait till tomorrow to see them." Kagoru said while gently stroking her brow.

Inutaisha smiled, "Thank you." She then closed her eyes for some well deserved sleep.
