Nii-san

A/N: Thank you nette and luvsjazz for reviewing. I finally got another chapter. Sorry it's short.

Chapter 31

Nii-san

Admittedly, Katsuro hadn’t loved the human woman and had nearly killed her the instant he’d realized she was pregnant. Yet, in the back of his mind was the idea that she was carrying his child, and had been carrying his child for some time before he’d know. He couldn’t bring himself to do it. That was his little girl. Now as he stood behind the servant as she prepared to deliver their child onto the soft bed below, he still felt no love for her, but his love for the little girl grew by leaps and bounds.

The woman, who had seemed so disposable the night he’d asked her to come to his bed—which she had willingly—was now doing something so remarkable that if there was no love, there was certainly respect. He braced her as she screamed, and out of nervousness, he did as well.

Katsuro had no idea what he was doing. He’d had to take her away from everyone, to hide her. As her body slipped further down, muscles tensing, a loud cry escaping from her lips. She pushed again, cried again. She screamed again, Katsuro trying to be encouraging behind her.

Finally, her body relaxed and he saw that on the bed was the bloody, tiny form of a baby girl.
Using his claws, Katsuro cut the umbilical cord, grabbed a blanket and began cleaning the baby off. She had white hair and tiny ears on top of her head. His daughter. His child.

“She’s beautiful,” he said. Reluctantly, he handed over his daughter to her mother, knowing that the tiny child needed to feed. He looked down at the woman, struggling for something to say. “You did an amazing job.” He watched in amused wonder as his daughter, perfect and tiny immediately knew how to eat.

For days, he watched over mother and daughter, forcing his own finger to bleed in order to feed the tiny baby. He cared for the little hanyou, not considering his place in his clan, only his place as the little girl’s father. He was anxious to see his daughter’s eyes, though it would be nearly a month before they finally opened.

He finally had to leave to bring some other foods to the mother. On his way back, he smelled blood, human blood mixed with family blood. He smelled his daughter. Katsuro had put up the strongest barrier he knew. He ran into the den he’d created, finding his father standing over the lifeless body of the servant and his little girl. He ran at his father, claws out, growling, snarling. His father grabbed his wrists, stopping the assault of his claws.

“You killed her!”

“She was a hanyou. It is my right to see her destroyed.

“She was my daughter! Your granddaughter!” Without thinking, he bit his father’s arm. He felt the very arm he held within his jaws throw him backwards and smack his head against a cave wall, forcing him to black out.

Hearing the disruption outside, Katsuro knew that Sesshomaru’s family must have followed him. Why couldn’t they just accept that clan tradition was unbreakable, as he had? It was better in the long run. Inevitably, tradition would win, as it had with his daughter. There was no point in fighting it. You could bend it, manipulate it, but you couldn’t break it.

“Do not worry,” the ancient demoness said. “I have very strong guards out front.”

“Why would I worry?” Katsuro asked. If he died, he died. So be it.

When Miroku climbed out of the well, he found himself faced with Yasashiku sitting atop Kirara. “Well, have you satisfied your curiosity?” Yasashiku asked.

“How do you mean?”

“Were you satisfied meeting your Sesshomaru in the future?”

“You know about this well?”

“You could say that.” The human-like hanyou touched Miroku’s face, making the former monk draw back. “You got yourself hurt. I am guessing it didn’t go well.”

“This is nothing.”

“I doubt it,” Yasashiku said with a roll of his brown eyes. “But you’ll ignore it anyway.” The strange hanyou rubbed the top of Kirara’s head. “Now, hop on and let’s get Sesshomaru.” Miroku climbed onto Kirara’s back behind Yasashiku, seeing that he had a bow and arrows strapped to his back.”

“Your weapons…”

“Gifts from my father. I learned how to use them from my mother.” Yasashiku turned and looked at the map in Miroku’s hands, though Miroku had the impression that the hanyou only half-paid attention to it before giving instructions to Kirara where to go. As Kirara took off, the white-haired hanyou turned to Miroku, smiling at him, so familiar, though the dark hanyou was at a loss from where he’d seen it. He’d only felt this way once before, at that club in Kagome’s time.

Violet eyes wide, jaw dropped, he looked at Yasashiku. “You are that man with the blond hair.” He grabbed the half-demon’s shoulder and turned him. “You know of the well, so you are from Kagome’s time.”

Yasashiku laughed, scratching Kirara’s head before turning back to the former monk. “You aren’t a bad kisser. I’d always wondered if you would be.”

Sesshomaru fought responding to his mate’s emotions, sensing that Miroku was not only incredibly distressed, but confused. He also knew that the former human was on his way. He then looked down at what he was wearing in disgust. To allow his mate to see him this way, to see him dressed in a woman’s kimono, it would be humiliating.

“Lord Sesshomaru, you need to learn the other arts of a beta,” the female hanyou said. “Saruwatari has ordered it.”

“Has he forbidden you from telling me why he is so determined to ‘train’ me to be my cousin’s mate?”

“No, milord,” the male said.

“Then answer.”

Clearing his throat, physically looking as though he was bracing himself for an attack, the male answered. “He plans, when the disgrace of your pregnancy is revealed, to request your hanyou mate to join our group.”

Sesshomaru growled. “He would turn my mate into a prostitute?”

“But he would not be your mate—”

The demon lord cut off the female. “He will always be my mate. My youkai chose him, and I would go through every layer of hell before I would see him forced to serve others for pleasure.”

Unfortunately for the inuyoukai, the collar could sense his dark thoughts toward his supposed master, and began punishing him for them, forcing Sesshomaru to struggle just to stand.

The collar could control his actions while it was on, but Sesshomaru would be damned before it started controlling his thoughts. He howled loudly as he fought against the power of the thing around his neck, only momentarily cursing the fact that had it not been for his pregnancy, this piece of leather and spells would never have held such mastery over him.

Standing in front of the fortress, InuYasha stood beside the demoness, Manami, the other hanyou, Takara, beside Kagome, Kouga hovering nearby. It normally would have upset the heir, having Kouga so near and protective still with his mate, but InuYasha had to admit that it was nice having Takara around as a distraction, as almost all of Kouga’s attentions were now directed at the unfortunate half-demon.

With skill of many years of practice, InuYasha watched in shock as the demons came out of the fortress, nearly in the numbers that they had from the mountain, but looking at the demons, InuYasha recognized these were no weak, mindless things. They could rationalize, could react.

Manami extended a clawed hand, a long green whip dropping down. “Are you ready for this, InuYasha?” she asked.

Still clutching onto Tessaiga, InuYasha looked back at her. “I was born ready.” He looked over his shoulder at Takara and Kagome, the new hanyou holding a katana and Kagome with her bow and arrows, powering them with her newly aquired powers.

Once enough of the demons were within range, InuYasha used his windscar, ripping through those demons that couldn’t get out of the path of his attack. Takara blasted the demons with her own weapon, not nearly as strong as the Tessaiga, but impressive enough on its own. Kagome was shooting her arrows, a combination of both her goddess and spiritual powers. Manami sliced through countless demons with a single graceful swipe of her hand.

It was amazing the team they made with the wolves, Shippo, Rin and Jaken in the mix, moving as skillfully together as they had defeating Naraku, the two new mixed-breed inus blending in easily.

Unfortunately, none of them had accounted for additional guard demons attacking from either side, one blasting InuYasha with a ball of fire, sending him backwards and the Tessaiga flying forward. Kagome was knocked off balance as well, Takara quickly running to grab InuYasha’s sword.

“It won’t work for you.” He assumed that as a hanyou, the leather-clad demoness would be able to pick up the sword, even if she couldn’t use it.

“It’s okay. Tessaiga and I are old friends.” Takara grabbed hold of Tessaiga, and in shock, InuYasha watched as his sword transformed for her. “Windscar!” she yelled out, eliminating the demons nearing her and Kagome.

“This is taking too long,” he heard Manami say from her height above him. “InuYasha, brace me.”

“What?”

“Brace me.” Obeying, he jumped to his feet and pressed his weight against her back. Manami held her hands outstretched in front of herself. “Windtunnels!”

InuYasha nearly forgot to breathe as he watched two powerful windtunnels erupted from her hands, pulling not only the demons into them, but loose boulders, nearly burying the two of them, had she not stopped both windtunnels and erected a spiritual barrier around them.

“What—what the hell was that?!” InuYasha asked.

“That was what I inherited from my papa. Pretty impressive, is it not, Nii-san?”

“Nii-san?”

“Yes, InuYasha.” She reached up to her eyes, removing something from them both before letting her energy whip drop just slightly, revealing her violet eyes in the near-dark. Then, her other hand reached to her ear, removing a tiny shell and tossing it on the ground. “Now, you might want to duck.” Manami unleashed her whip on the bunch of boulders, obliterating them.

InuYasha looked up at the demoness slackjawed, her scent almost identical to that of Sesshomaru’s pregnancy scent, something that could only be possibly if she was the unborn pup. “You… How?”

“The well, big brother.”

“Then Takara is…”

He felt Tessaiga being forced into his hands. “Your first-born,” the dark-haired hanyou said.

“InuYasha?” Kagome said, standing back at her feet, Kouga helping her as she looked not only surprised but hurt.

“Your first-born, too. For Kami’s sake, woman, they’re older than me. They’re from your time.”

Manami smiled. “Now, let’s go find Katsuro so we can save Oto-san... And me.”
