To Die Slowly
They spent the next hour looking for the missing girl, the whole estate was checked. Even Rin was helping to search, Kouga sent his mate home. Which everyone was happy about. The two men were beginning to panic when she wasn't found right away. She couldn't have gone far. She was only human. A human alone somewhere in a world full of demons that craved the jewel buried in her chest.
Kurama wasn't sure if she was in danger or simply hiding from them. He was still in his Youko form as they searched. He felt more at home in this form while in the Makai. They couldn't pick up her scent nor could Hiei locate her with his jagan. Even her powers shouldn't have been able to interfere with Hiei finding her. Yet the fire demon said he couldn't locate her. He stopped when he suddenly smelt something. He ran down a hill and then spotted it. Small drops of blood, he was sure it was hers. Had she fallen? If so then where was she now? Fear gripped his heart as he continued to search.
Koronue was in the sky, he saw the fox stop examing an area. He followed Youko as he took off, he was almost up to him when he sensed another youkai coming up fast. "Youko." He shouted and pointed in the sky. He landed beside the fox to wait.
Another bat youkai landed in front of them, he didn't speak merely placed a box of some sort on the ground. He bowed and left. They ran up to it, Koronue got to it first. He tore the top off and reached inside. His fingers came up with a long lock of black hair. Youko grabbed the note placed inside and read. "You stole everything from me, now I have returned the favor. Know that she is with me. While this note is being delivered I will be burying myself inside her warm flesh. After I am done, I will tear her heart and the jewel from her body. Keep this hair as a token. Jatsuchi"
"Kagome."
She slowly came to and her head was killing her. "Ouchie." She rubbed the back of her neck. Where was she? It was dark all around her. She stood up and tried to feel around, her hand felt a wall. She followed the edge and be damned if she didn't make a complete circle. Her head flew up, a small amount of light could be seen about ten feet above her head. She was in a well of some sort.
Suddenly a figure was standing glaring over the edge. "So you are awake. Pity. Seems the jewel won't let me harm you. As long as you are alive I can't possess the jewel. Then again I can't harm you. For some reason it suddenly decided to protect you. So, I'll just have to wait a few days for you to die. I have no problem digging it from your corpse. How long can a human go without food or water. I've always wondered. Don't even get your hopes up either. I have placed a seal at the top, no one will be able to find you. Not even the fire youkai with the fake jagan. You will die slowly." He glanced at her. "I don't like the smell of this place, so I will return in a few days to check up on you. Try not to be alive."
Kagome watched the figure disappear. As soon as she sensed that he was gone she tried to climb up the wall. She didn't even make it up a foot before her nails broke and she fell back landing on her back. She spent the next several hours attempting to make it out the hole. Was it true? Could no one find her? Was she doomed to slowly die in this hole. She fell down and cried.
They were all standing at Sesshomaru's estate, Koenma had shown up to speak to them all. Kurama and Koronue felt some relief being told that Kagome's soul hadn't crossed over. Wherever she was she was still alive. A day had already gone by and they had no leads. Hiei kept his jagan open, hoping for anything. What made them all worry was that someone's soul had crossed over. Jatsuchi's. Koenma told them that he'd been attacked by one of his own.
He'd been questioned about the location of the miko. He laughed and said he'd go to purgitory happy. Knowing that they would never find the girl, no one would. She would die and they couldn't stop it. He was being tortured at the moment.
Kurama and Koronue were both becoming hysterical, blaming themselve's. If only they'd told her how they felt then she wouldn't have ran off. Kouga called them both morons. He stated the fact that if Kagome is the type of person to believe in you. If they would have just told her she was more than a piece of ass, she'd have tried to find out what was going on. Instead, she had automatically assumed the worst.
"I think we are worrying to soon," Sesshomaru said. Even he had tried to locate her. "Kagome isn't one to sit back and accept death. If there is a way for her to fight she will. I know this from experience, she is strong."
"We won't just sit here and wait while she dies." Koronue stated.
"What else can be done?" He demanded. "Whatever is keeping the fire demon from locating her is also covering up her smell. There is no way to find her. We will just have to pray that she finds a way out of it herself."
