A New Life For Two

Chapter Thirty


Kagome looked over the table at the red head smiling at her. "I'm not suprised to hear that. Hiei strikes me as the type to attack first make introductions later." For the last four months since that night of their first date they'd went out every weekend. It was out to dinner, dancing, the movies or they went back to his place and watched a movie. Not once had he made a move on her. At the end of every date he'd give her a chaste kiss across the mouth. His hands never strayed or roamed, sometimes she wished they would. She already knew him as Kurama she was getting to know him as Shuichi. Some days he'd just stop by the house to check up on Sango. Which impressed everyone greatly. Yusuke had yet to speak to the girl. Wasn't suprising as far as Kagome was concerned. The bastard had gotten off scott-free. Keiko and he had broken up on good terms and were still friends from what she'd heard. Plus, he didn't have to worry about playing daddy. Kagome didn't ask about him and Kurama didn't mention him, score one for Kurama. No one spoke his name around Sango either. It only caused her pain. The girl was going on six months and she was showing.

Kurama was ready to get out of the restaraunt. He'd enjoyed the evening so far but had to call it an early night. He was to meet Yusuke in two hours and help him move some furniture. The boy had gotten a job over three months ago at a plant outside of the city. It was loading, manual work but the boy was good at it. The pay was decent enough also. He'd saved up enough and got his own place here in town. Nothing fancy but a two bedroom apartment down the street from Kurama. It was a twelve hour shift leaving little time for him. Whenever he had free time he'd been fixing up the extra bedroom. The fox was suppose to help him move some stuff in tonight.

When they arrived at the shrine Kurama walked her to the door. Once again he only gave her a quick kiss on the mouth leaving her disappointed. Sure she hadn't wanted to be just a piece of ass to him but she at least wanted him to desire her. He treated her more like a friend now. Maybe she'd made a mistake by demanding that they date for awhile before getting closer. Maybe next time they went to his place she would throw herself at him.

Sango was in what Kagome had called a mall. Souta was in the next store over looking at music while Sango had decided to visit the baby store. The clothes they had in this era looked kind of complicated. Did these sleeper things really need that many buttons. The only thing she looked forward to was what Kagome called disposable diapers. She was going to thank whomever came up with that invention. She'd been to her doctor last week for her check up. He'd put some type of device to her stomach to look at the baby. Sango wasn't sure how that was possible but before her eyes a picture of her baby had appeared on the small screen. From what the doctor could see it was going to be a boy. She decided to trust them and shop for boy things.

A blue little outfit caught her attention and she reached out to examine it. It was a little suit, it was too adorable. She replaced it and looked at another one.

"I like the other one better," Keiko spoke behind her.

Sango didn't know what to say to the girl. "Hello." She put the second one back and grabbed the original one. "It is cute isn't it."

"So, it's going to be a boy."

"That's what I was told but I'm not sure how the hell they can tell." Sango decided to get the outfit.

"Well, lets just hope he doesn't have Yusuke's personality."

Sango almost dropped what was in her arms. 'She knows.' She just stood there, not being able to face the girl. Guilt filled her. "I'm sorry."

"Don't be. I'm happy for you." Keiko grabbed her hand and gave it a squeeze. "Wanna go get some lunch with me?"

"Sure let me pay for these things." Sango walked up to the register with Keiko on her heels. After informing Souta that she would be in the food court, they walked on over.

The smell assualted Sango's nose and her stomach growled. Her hand came to land on the round spot across her stomach. She was starting to be able to feel the baby's movements regularly.

Keiko watched her hand find its way down and smiled. "Can you feel him move yet?"

"Yes though Kagome has been the only one to get him to actually kick. Can't feel him that good yet." Sango placed her order as did Keiko. Within minutes they were seated at a table.

"I hear Kagome is dating Kurama."

"Yes, I've never seen her so happy." Sango sighed. She was indeed happy for her friend yet it hurt to know she'd never be that happy.

"Between you and me, I think Shizuru has a crush on Hiei."

"And he her." Sango added.

"You think so?" Keiko couldn't imagine the little demon having a crush on anyone.

"Yes, that day at the carnival he was standing next to her like an over protective lover." Sango remembered the way he stood till this day.

"I've never thought about it but I think you might be right. They'd make one odd couple." Keiko laughed at the mental image in her head. "You know you and Yusuke make a cute couple."

Sango almost choked on her fried potato. "Excuse me."

"Yeah, I know its feels weird hearing me talk about you two. Before I forget I was going to have Kuwabara deliver it but since I ran into you. Here is an invitation for Genkia's birthday party. Can you make sure Yusuke gets it."

Sango eyed the small card, the only way he would get it from her was in his next lifetime. "I can't give this to him. Better have Kuwabara deliver it."

"Oh, you're not going to see Yusuke by this Sunday? I guess I can take it over by myself. Thats if you don't mind." Keiko waited for her reply.

"Why would I mind? Do what you want." Sango turned her attention back to her plate. Why would Keiko assume that her and Yusuke were together? Because she was pregnant for him! Of course they were mated but that didn't mean anything here.

"Wait, oh my, I thought." Keiko felt like an ass. "I'm sorry I just figured with everyone going on you two were together. I mean he has his own place. I went over there and there was enough stuff there for two people I naturally assumed you two were going to be moving in together. Why else is there.. Oh." Keiko felt like kicking her own ass. But the damage was done.

Sango felt the tears well up. So what if he was with someone else. Let him move in with another girl, she didn't care. The problem was she did, too much. "Excuse me, I gotta go."

"Wait Sango, I'm sorry." She was gone before Keiko could stop her. The girl gave up and sighed. She got rid of her and Sango's trash. She was heading over to see Yusuke since Sundays were his days off. She didn't care if another woman was there she was going to kick his ass. And if the woman said anything she'd get an ass whoopin also.
