Good thing Inu and Kag's bond is true. And as for Inu cutting off Kag's arm, nope. I don't remember I wrote something that he cut it off, just cut her. And I'm glad for your suggestions, keep 'em coming okay? Some of the things you said were really interesting. And i'm surprised you're not angry at me... thanx for that! As for Inu in his demon form, well with those other fics he transformed of his own accord, right? Or because the Tetsusaiga is not in his hands. In my story, it is neither. The one who triggered Inu's change is Naraku and the black shards. Thus, it can possibly be explained that the effect is far more dangerous and incomprehensible. With the power of the Shikon no Tama, anything can happen right? That's why Inu has no recollection of Kag and their being mated. Even more so when he lost the sword, everything shut down at once and all he could think of is to kill. ~*~Chapter 31—Is Life ~*~
I… did this.
My mate is lying in my arms, dying. And the cause of her death will be me…
I cursed at the stupid, evil demon blood that coursed through my veins— the dark legacy of my father. The sword he left me, said to be able to seal my demon blood, is useless. Everything is useless and worthless when faced against Naraku…
~I-I want to… tell you. I forgive… you… for what… ever will… happen. A-and that… I… will al…ways love… you. Even after… d-death. O-our ch-child… will under…stand too. I-I’ll… make h-him… under…stand~
And the pup… the child that I’ve been alternately hoping for and dreading for her to have, is now gone. Its’ existence denied even before it had the chance to live. The blood of my blood… dead.
And I never even knew my child is there until I heard its’ heartbeat calling out to me…
Tears continue to course down my pain-weathered face as I clutched the lifeless body of my mate to mine. I have failed her; I have failed both of them. I wasn’t strong enough to fight against the shadows our enemy brought upon me. I was too weak to protect them…
And now they’re gone…
“No! Kagome,” Inuyasha sobs out.
“Wake up, Kagome. Onegai, don’t leave me here,” he shakes her body, but to no avail.
“I’m sorry. I’m so fucking sorry about everything. Please, open your eyes, Kanai,” Inuyasha pleaded with Kagome.
His lips moved to her forehead, one hand lowering to her stomach. His soul searched out for hers, willing for it to come back. He willed their child to live, for it to announce its’ presence to him again. To save its’ mother…
And it happened…
~*~
“Kagome-chan!” Sango cried out, as tears of horror come to her eyes once again. First her brother, and now her best friend.
It seems Naraku managed to kill all of her loved ones one by one…
Then she felt Miroku’s arms tighten around her waist, giving her strength. Here is one love yet to be destroyed or killed… and one she isn’t going to let go of or allow to die.
“Believe, Sango. Inuyasha couldn’t have… he loves her too much to kill her,”
“But he did! Didn’t you hear? What could have caused him to cry out like that? He’s in full-youkai, houshi! Surely you understand what that means. He won’t know anyone… even her,”
“Both of you stop fighting right now. Everything can be resolved. You have to help me get past Naraku so I can revive her,” Sesshomaru said, his hand lingering on the hilt of Tenseiga.
“And do you honestly think I would allow you to do that and have you ruin all my plans, Sesshomaru-sama?” Naraku commented as he woke from his stupor and heard the last comment.
“No. After all the lengths I’ve gone through to succeed, you will not stop me. YOU CANNOT STOP ME,” Naraku then starts to laugh maniacally.
“I have been a nobody for too long. Not anymore. Today, the youkai race shall bow before the dirty hanyou you despise. I will be the alpha and the omega of this world. I will hold complete power in my hands!”
As the dark hanyou raised his hands, the almost-complete Shikon no Tama in it, the dark miko rose up into the air as if magnetized. The last of the shards are inside her body, and he will have it.
Kikyou tried to fight Naraku’s power over her body, but she cannot. The larger piece of the Tama calls out to its’ missing pieces, taking her with it. It was a consolation that he followed through his promises though, and killed her reincarnation. At last, Inuyasha is hers once again…
“Fool,” Kikyou spat out at Naraku as she stopped in mid-air before him.
“You cannot kill me—you need me. I am the last miko available to you, and you cannot forge the Shikon no Tama together unless I do it,”
“Ahh, my dear Kikyou. Do you see? What I can offer you, what I can give you? Do you still long for the worthless hanyou when you know you can have me? Be mine, and we’ll rule everything and everyone together,” Naraku purred out as he lifted one hand to her cheek.
“You are nothing but a worthless hanyou yourself, Naraku. Remember that. You are nothing to me, and forever will be,” Kikyou answered him coldly.
Naraku clamped his hand on her throat angrily, blocking off her breathing. He used his powers to raise the final shards and reveal it to him. With it in hand, he flung her back to where she came from, with Sesshomaru moving fast to catch her.
“Then you will be nothing to me too, Kikyou. I have no further need of you; the Shikon no Tama will join with me at my command, and you’ll regret your outcry,” Naraku vowed as he erected a barrier around him, no one in their present company having the power to break through it.
And like before, a bright light flashed through everyone’s eyes; its’ brilliance blinding for a moment before fading away. And there, in Naraku’s hands lay the destruction and the salvation of the entire world…
The Shikon no Tama is now complete…
~*~
The blinding light reached his eyes, but he didn’t even blink as he kept on staring at Kagome’s beautiful face in desperation, waiting for the sign that she’s alive. Inuyasha pressed his hand more firmly against her belly as he reached out with his soul to hers, hoping she’ll come back…
And as the glow from the Shikon no Tama began to fade, he felt the skin beneath his hand begin to warm and a sound, almost unnoticeable to the human ears, invaded his senses…
~Thump, thump~
Kagome is not dead.
Inuyasha swept his hands over her body as he helped her recoup her body heat, his eyes roaming over her feverishly as he waited for her eyes to open. She’s still pale and unmoving, but her heartbeat didn’t lie. Or rather, their child’s heartbeat did.
“Come on, sweetheart. Open your eyes for me. I’m here, Kanai,” Inuyasha coaxed Kagome into doing his bidding, but she took her own sweet time obeying.
Her eyes finally fluttered open, revealing her cobalt depths to his golden gaze. He felt tears prick at the corner of his eyes, but he desisted in giving in.
“I-Inu…ya…sha,” Kagome spoke, her voice small and breathy. She held up her hand weakly it almost fell if not for him catching it and holding it to his face.
“You… were… crying,”
It was a statement, not a question. But he couldn’t seem to stop himself from nodding.
“Keh! Yorriorried me. Never do that again, do you hear?” Inuyasha tried to be his usual arrogant and uncaring self, but he ruined it by pressing her hand more firmly to his cheek and closing his eyes at the feeling of life.
“I’ll… try,” Kagome replied, smiling. Then she noticed something else.
“The… Shikon… no… Tama?”
Inuyasha snapped his eyes open at her question. The fucking Shikon no Tama! He forgot it because of her and didn’t even know what’s happening now. But he realized inot not really that important anymore…
“I don’t know, Kagome. And as of now, I honestly don’t care. Naraku can screw his self over it as far as I’m concerned. YOU’RE what’s important to me now, Kanai. You… and OUR PUP,” Inuyasha said, his emotions clearly showing on his eyes and face.
“You… know?” Kagome asked, her eyes revealing her surprise and apprehension.
“I know. Our child saved the both of you, I think. Gomen, Kagome. For everything. I wish… you’d find the strength and the will to forgive me for all I’ve done wrong,” her mate lowered his head, his bangs falling to cover his eyes.
Kagome shook her head at him.
“Iranai… Inuyasha-kun. Ai… shiteiru. That will… never change. There is… nothing… to forgive,”
Kagome said in finality.
She tried to sit up then and happened to look behind Inuyasha. What she saw almost made her heart stop again…
“Help… me. We’ve got to… stop Naraku… Inuyasha,”
Inuyasha clasped herhis his chest, helping her sit up. Each movement is an agony for her, and she gritted her teeth every time the pain shot up her body. Inuyasha closed his eyes, willing for his aura to surround her and help her heal. Kagome felt it, and closed her eyes too to concentrate with him.
Their auras flared up and collided, emitting a glow of their own. It wrapped around them both and as if by magic, each cut, each bruise, each wound slowly closed up and disappeared, not even leaving a scar behind.
After the healing is done, Inuyasha and Kagome open their eyes to look at one another. Kagome then took his larger hand in hers in a firm grip saying,
“Let’s go kick Naraku’s ass,”

Kouga, with Ayame still unconscious in his arms, and Kagura, race to the center of the battlefield in desperation. With Kagome dead and Kikyou dying, they would have to work together to defeat him. They have to give it their all, and hope that it would be enough.
God knows they need it to…
The taijiya and the monk are still astride Kirara trying to help Sesshomaru who’s now protecting the dark miko. Oh, the irony of it all…
And Naraku’s barrier is still up and around him, making it impossible for them to get through.
“Where’s the fucking dog-turd when you need him!?”
“I will not count on him now. His loss is too great, the pain too unbearable. All that can be done will be done by those present here,” Kagura answered, her eyes flickering to her master.
‘My sister is not here… I wonder where she is?’

Sesshomaru caught Kikyou in his arms just in the nick of time. They were thrown backwards by the force and landed back to the demons. The Lord of the Western Lands is having a difficult time fighting the horde off and holding the miko in his arms. Sango and Miroku help from above.
“Give me back my bow and arrows,” the woman in his arms told him quietly.
Sesshomaru looked down at her, one eyebrow raised in surprise.
“No, I am not dead. Nor am I going to die. Naraku knew that when he pulled the shards off my body. I didn’t expect him to be able to complete the jewel by himself though. Will you put me down now? I thought you hated me,”
“Loathe you, actually. Especially now. I hope you’re happy. Kagome’s dead and Inuyasha’s in a deranged frenzy over it. It’s just us against the bastard now. Oh and by the way, you’re supposed to thank me,” Sesshomaru said in his bored voice after lowering her to the ground and slashing at each youkai who tried to move in on them.
Kikyou norched her bow and fired, purifying the youkais on his side, almost grazing him in the process.
“I call us even,”
~*~
Naraku gazed in wonder at the jewel in his hands, as though mesmerized by it. Finally, the power he longed for is now in his grasp. The world will go on,he whe wanted it to…
He held it delicately in his grasp as he looked down upon those who tried to defy him. They will all suffer and die; not one will be left in the face of his wrath.
“Kagura,” he called out to his child, who is now on her feather coming close to him.
“Have you done what I have told you to do?”
“Not yet, master. But I have managed to kill the prince’s mate. I thought you would like to do the honors of disposing of them one by one,” Kagura answered in a subservient way.
Naraku cocked his head at her, thinking what her game is. Kagura is strong-willed and rebellious, rarely submissive to him. That only happened when he asserted his power over her…
“I hope you’re not thinking of double crossing me this time, my child. That would not be wise,” Naraku said as he narrowed his eyes at her, making her feel the extent of his power.
“No, master. I have learned my lesson,”
“Good. Then let’s bring an end to this—“ Naraku cut off in a shocked gasp, his red eyes ing ing as he looked to where the attack came from.
The reason of his distraction is a purified arrow shot at him, intent on hitting the hand holding the Shikon no Tama. It went right through his barrier like it isn’t even there, and almost accomplished its’ mission if not for Kagura deflecting it.
He searched for its’ source, his gaze automatically returning to the dark miko. Only, Kikyou’s attention isn’t pointed at him, as she’s busy fighting the fiends surrounding them.
That means…
“NARAKU!!!”
The battle cry resounded just as his barrier gave way to the red Tetsusaiga. And there in the east stood Inuyasha and Kagome, with fierce determination in their eyes, very much alive.
‘This cannot be happening!’
~*~Hah! Got you there didn't I? hehehe. Now things really get interesting. Imagine everyone's fury at Naraku... oops, I guess he's in for it now huh? :D And guys, just to heed MegaBorX's warning. As I said before, this story will contain some scenes not possibly to your liking. I know I may sound like a broken record or something, but I just wanted to remind you so that when surprises keep popping up like the last ones, you won't take it out on me. ~*~Chapter 31—Is Life ~*~
I… did this.
My mate is lying in my arms, dying. And the cause of her death will be me…
I cursed at the stupid, evil demon blood that coursed through my veins— the dark legacy of my father. The sword he left me, said to be able to seal my demon blood, is useless. Everything is useless and worthless when faced against Naraku…
~I-I want to… tell you. I forgive… you… for what… ever will… happen. A-and that… I… will al…ways love… you. Even after… d-death. O-our ch-child… will under…stand too. I-I’ll… make h-him… under…stand~
And the pup… the child that I’ve been alternately hoping for and dreading for her to have, is now gone. Its’ existence denied even before it had the chance to live. The blood of my blood… dead.
And I never even knew my child is there until I heard its’ heartbeat calling out to me…
Tears continue to course down my pain-weathered face as I clutched the lifeless body of my mate to mine. I have failed her; I have failed both of them. I wasn’t strong enough to fight against the shadows our enemy brought upon me. I was too weak to protect them…
And now they’re gone…
“No! Kagome,” Inuyasha sobs out.
“Wake up, Kagome. Onegai, don’t leave me here,” he shakes her body, but to no avail.
“I’m sorry. I’m so fucking sorry about everything. Please, open your eyes, Kanai,” Inuyasha pleaded with Kagome.
His lips moved to her forehead, one hand lowering to her stomach. His soul searched out for hers, willing for it to come back. He willed their child to live, for it to announce its’ presence to him again. To save its’ mother…
And it happened…

“Kagome-chan!” Sango cried out, as tears of horror come to her eyes once again. First her brother, and now her best friend.
It seems Naraku managed to kill all of her loved ones one by one…
Then she felt Miroku’s arms tighten around her waist, giving her strength. Here is one love yet to be destroyed or killed… and one she isn’t going to let go of or allow to die.
“Believe, Sango. Inuyasha couldn’t have… he loves her too much to kill her,”
“But he did! Didn’t you hear? What could have caused him to cry out like that? He’s in full-youkai, houshi! Surely you understand what that means. He won’t know anyone… even her,”
“Both of you stop fighting right now. Everything can be resolved. You have to help me get past Naraku so I can revive her,” Sesshomaru said, his hand lingering on the hilt of Tenseiga.
“And do you honestly think I would allow you to do that and have you ruin all my plans, Sesshomaru-sama?” Naraku commented as he woke from his stupor and heard the last comment.
“No. After all the lengths I’ve gone through to succeed, you will not stop me. YOU CANNOT STOP ME,” Naraku then starts to laugh maniacally.
“I have been a nobody for too long. Not anymore. Today, the youkai race shall bow before the dirty hanyou you despise. I will be the alpha and the omega of this world. I will hold complete power in my hands!”
As the dark hanyou raised his hands, the almost-complete Shikon no Tama in it, the dark miko rose up into the air as if magnetized. The last of the shards are inside her body, and he will have it.
Kikyou tried to fight Naraku’s power over her body, but she cannot. The larger piece of the Tama calls out to its’ missing pieces, taking her with it. It was a consolation that he followed through his promises though, and killed her reincarnation. At last, Inuyasha is hers once again…
“Fool,” Kikyou spat out at Naraku as she stopped in mid-air before him.
“You cannot kill me—you need me. I am the last miko available to you, and you cannot forge the Shikon no Tama together unless I do it,”
“Ahh, my dear Kikyou. Do you see? What I can offer you, what I can give you? Do you still long for the worthless hanyou when you know you can have me? Be mine, and we’ll rule everything and everyone together,” Naraku purred out as he lifted one hand to her cheek.
“You are nothing but a worthless hanyou yourself, Naraku. Remember that. You are nothing to me, and forever will be,” Kikyou answered him coldly.
Naraku clamped his hand on her throat angrily, blocking off her breathing. He used his powers to raise the final shards and reveal it to him. With it in hand, he flung her back to where she came from, with Sesshomaru moving fast to catch her.
“Then you will be nothing to me too, Kikyou. I have no further need of you; the Shikon no Tama will join with me at my command, and you’ll regret your outcry,” Naraku vowed as he erected a barrier around him, no one in their present company having the power to break through it.
And like before, a bright light flashed through everyone’s eyes; its’ brilliance blinding for a moment before fading away. And there, in Naraku’s hands lay the destruction and the salvation of the entire world…
The Shikon no Tama is now complete…

The blinding light reached his eyes, but he didn’t even blink as he kept on staring at Kagome’s beautiful face in desperation, waiting for the sign that she’s alive. Inuyasha pressed his hand more firmly against her belly as he reached out with his soul to hers, hoping she’ll come back…
And as the glow from the Shikon no Tama began to fade, he felt the skin beneath his hand begin to warm and a sound, almost unnoticeable to the human ears, invaded his senses…
~Thump, thump~
Kagome is not dead.
Inuyasha swept his hands over her body as he helped her recoup her body heat, his eyes roaming over her feverishly as he waited for her eyes to open. She’s still pale and unmoving, but her heartbeat didn’t lie. Or rather, their child’s heartbeat did.
“Come on, sweetheart. Open your eyes for me. I’m here, Kanai,” Inuyasha coaxed Kagome into doing his bidding, but she took her own sweet time obeying.
Her eyes finally fluttered open, revealing her cobalt depths to his golden gaze. He felt tears prick at the corner of his eyes, but he desisted in giving in.
“I-Inu…ya…sha,” Kagome spoke, her voice small and breathy. She held up her hand weakly it almost fell if not for him catching it and holding it to his face.
“You… were… crying,”
It was a statement, not a question. But he couldn’t seem to stop himself from nodding.
“Keh! Yorriorried me. Never do that again, do you hear?” Inuyasha tried to be his usual arrogant and uncaring self, but he ruined it by pressing her hand more firmly to his cheek and closing his eyes at the feeling of life.
“I’ll… try,” Kagome replied, smiling. Then she noticed something else.
“The… Shikon… no… Tama?”
Inuyasha snapped his eyes open at her question. The fucking Shikon no Tama! He forgot it because of her and didn’t even know what’s happening now. But he realized inot not really that important anymore…
“I don’t know, Kagome. And as of now, I honestly don’t care. Naraku can screw his self over it as far as I’m concerned. YOU’RE what’s important to me now, Kanai. You… and OUR PUP,” Inuyasha said, his emotions clearly showing on his eyes and face.
“You… know?” Kagome asked, her eyes revealing her surprise and apprehension.
“I know. Our child saved the both of you, I think. Gomen, Kagome. For everything. I wish… you’d find the strength and the will to forgive me for all I’ve done wrong,” her mate lowered his head, his bangs falling to cover his eyes.
Kagome shook her head at him.
“Iranai… Inuyasha-kun. Ai… shiteiru. That will… never change. There is… nothing… to forgive,”
Kagome said in finality.
She tried to sit up then and happened to look behind Inuyasha. What she saw almost made her heart stop again…
“Help… me. We’ve got to… stop Naraku… Inuyasha,”
Inuyasha clasped herhis his chest, helping her sit up. Each movement is an agony for her, and she gritted her teeth every time the pain shot up her body. Inuyasha closed his eyes, willing for his aura to surround her and help her heal. Kagome felt it, and closed her eyes too to concentrate with him.
Their auras flared up and collided, emitting a glow of their own. It wrapped around them both and as if by magic, each cut, each bruise, each wound slowly closed up and disappeared, not even leaving a scar behind.
After the healing is done, Inuyasha and Kagome open their eyes to look at one another. Kagome then took his larger hand in hers in a firm grip saying,
“Let’s go kick Naraku’s ass,”

Kouga, with Ayame still unconscious in his arms, and Kagura, race to the center of the battlefield in desperation. With Kagome dead and Kikyou dying, they would have to work together to defeat him. They have to give it their all, and hope that it would be enough.
God knows they need it to…
The taijiya and the monk are still astride Kirara trying to help Sesshomaru who’s now protecting the dark miko. Oh, the irony of it all…
And Naraku’s barrier is still up and around him, making it impossible for them to get through.
“Where’s the fucking dog-turd when you need him!?”
“I will not count on him now. His loss is too great, the pain too unbearable. All that can be done will be done by those present here,” Kagura answered, her eyes flickering to her master.
‘My sister is not here… I wonder where she is?’

Sesshomaru caught Kikyou in his arms just in the nick of time. They were thrown backwards by the force and landed back to the demons. The Lord of the Western Lands is having a difficult time fighting the horde off and holding the miko in his arms. Sango and Miroku help from above.
“Give me back my bow and arrows,” the woman in his arms told him quietly.
Sesshomaru looked down at her, one eyebrow raised in surprise.
“No, I am not dead. Nor am I going to die. Naraku knew that when he pulled the shards off my body. I didn’t expect him to be able to complete the jewel by himself though. Will you put me down now? I thought you hated me,”
“Loathe you, actually. Especially now. I hope you’re happy. Kagome’s dead and Inuyasha’s in a deranged frenzy over it. It’s just us against the bastard now. Oh and by the way, you’re supposed to thank me,” Sesshomaru said in his bored voice after lowering her to the ground and slashing at each youkai who tried to move in on them.
Kikyou norched her bow and fired, purifying the youkais on his side, almost grazing him in the process.
“I call us even,”

Naraku gazed in wonder at the jewel in his hands, as though mesmerized by it. Finally, the power he longed for is now in his grasp. The world will go on,he whe wanted it to…
He held it delicately in his grasp as he looked down upon those who tried to defy him. They will all suffer and die; not one will be left in the face of his wrath.
“Kagura,” he called out to his child, who is now on her feather coming close to him.
“Have you done what I have told you to do?”
“Not yet, master. But I have managed to kill the prince’s mate. I thought you would like to do the honors of disposing of them one by one,” Kagura answered in a subservient way.
Naraku cocked his head at her, thinking what her game is. Kagura is strong-willed and rebellious, rarely submissive to him. That only happened when he asserted his power over her…
“I hope you’re not thinking of double crossing me this time, my child. That would not be wise,” Naraku said as he narrowed his eyes at her, making her feel the extent of his power.
“No, master. I have learned my lesson,”
“Good. Then let’s bring an end to this—“ Naraku cut off in a shocked gasp, his red eyes ing ing as he looked to where the attack came from.
The reason of his distraction is a purified arrow shot at him, intent on hitting the hand holding the Shikon no Tama. It went right through his barrier like it isn’t even there, and almost accomplished its’ mission if not for Kagura deflecting it.
He searched for its’ source, his gaze automatically returning to the dark miko. Only, Kikyou’s attention isn’t pointed at him, as she’s busy fighting the fiends surrounding them.
That means…
“NARAKU!!!”
The battle cry resounded just as his barrier gave way to the red Tetsusaiga. And there in the east stood Inuyasha and Kagome, with fierce determination in their eyes, very much alive.
‘This cannot be happening!’
~*~Hah! Got you there didn't I? hehehe. Now things really get interesting. Imagine everyone's fury at Naraku... oops, I guess he's in for it now huh? :D And guys, just to heed MegaBorX's warning. As I said before, this story will contain some scenes not possibly to your liking. I know I may sound like a broken record or something, but I just wanted to remind you so that when surprises keep popping up like the last ones, you won't take it out on me. I like reading your reviews, sure but please keep the threats to a minimum. I can only take too much. This probably won't be the last time I'll say this, but I hope you understand me.
