Sesshomarus Decision
Chapter 30
Sesshomarus Decision
The next morning, after another restless night, Miroku and Sango were told that Lord Sesshomaru would see them after breakfast. They were served in their room, but hardly touched their meals. Soon Jakken was by to collect them, and they were brought to the throne room again. Sesshomaru and Rin were waiting there for them.
“Bring me the child,” he said, “and I will tell you my decision.”
Koichi babbled and looked up at the face of his sire with wide wondering eyes as Sango handed him to Sesshomaru. Then to Sangos shock and dismay, he handed the baby to Rin, who left the room, Koichis little face peeking out over her shoulder at them with a perplexed look in his eyes.
“I have decided to keep the child and raise him as my own.”
Sango and Miroku were startled by Sesshomarus words, and turned to look at him.
“You-you’re keeping him?” stammered Sango, and stumbled in disbelief into Miroku, who moved to quickly support her.
“Yes, you and the monk may leave.”
Sesshomaru stood up to go.
“Jakken, help them get their packs from the room and see them to the door.”
Then the Lord of the West was gone.
“You heard my Lord,” said Jakken, “It’s time for you to be on your own.”
Sango slipped out of Mirokus grasp and fell to her knees, her face pale. She did not look like she had heard him. Stricken to the heart, she started to keen, which turned into a heart-wrenching wail. Jakken was startled.
“Okay, I will be back with your packs but then you better leave before you face my Lords wrath.” He said, and quickly retreated.
“My baby, my baby, please give me back my baby,” Sango keened, the tears leaking off her face onto the floor as she bent forward, the pain in her chest dragging her down.
Miroku knelt at her side, his own tears running unheeded down his face as he tried to pick her up.
“We have to go Sango,” said Miroku, “Koichi will live, he will be recognized by his sire, just as you wanted.”
“No, no, no…I want my baby, get my baby Miroku,” she gasped, and fell completely flat on her stomach on the floor.
Miroku wiped the tears off his face with the back of his hand, and heaved a deep sigh.
“You know I can’t do that, but if I could I would in a heartbeat.”
“If I don’t get my baby back I’ll die!” She wailed.
“Sango…”
“I’ll die, I’ll die, I’LL DIE!”
When Jakken got back, Miroku was lifting the loudly crying demon slayer off the floor by her waist and awkwardly slinging her dead weight over his shoulder. Jakken handed him the packs and he staggered out the door. Sango screams and wails for her baby could be heard by Jakken long after they disappeared from sight.
THE END
A/N: Yes this is a darkfic. No happy ending. What, did you think Sesshomaru would marry Sango and they would live happily ever after? As if! BUT...I have decided to write a sequel about what happens to Koichi- a departure for me, because I don’t usually write my own characters. It will take place about 17 years in the future, the same age InuYasha was when he first met Kagome (I have heard). It has the working title of “The Next Generation.” So if you want to know what happens to Koichi in Sesshomarus, ahem, care, be on the look out for this story.
