Chapter 3

A/N: Hello! I’m back again! Man, I’m sleepy.

By the way, I’m sorry for taking so long with this chapter. School is really starting here in my country and let me tell you, being a college sophomore is downright exhausting! I hardly have enough time for myself, and all that work made me forget the little thing called ‘internet’ for a while. LOL!

Enough of the boring old author’s note! On with the fic!

Disclaimer: I do non Inn Inuyasha and company. Man, doesn’t life suck?!

FEVERISH

Chapter 3

-----/---@

Inuyasha awoke to the soft sound of humming birds and the soft scent of the morning wind. He sniffed around him, taking in the wonderful scent of the one that lay beside him, before opening his eyes to gaze upon the still sleeping form of Kagome, his ‘mate’.

Kagome was snuggled against his bare chest, her arm wrapped around his waist. His arms were around her as well, protectively wrapping her in a firm but gentle embrace. Her legs were hooked over his bent ones, her long obsidian locks draped across their upper bodies. His oversized yukata covered their lower bodies like a warm blanket. he noticed the long-forgotten futons on the other side of the room.

He stared down at her tenderly, his eyes darting over her delicate, lovely features. Her closed eyes seemed to call to him as he imagined the beautiful brown hue of her widely open orbs. He lifted a hand slowly to caress her face. Her cheeks, her lips, her hands, everything about her was enticing.

Her d, sd, smooth breasts rubbed against his chest and he felt his blood heat again, but decided to stamp the flames down right away. He settled for watching her as she slept, silently reliving the blissful moments they spent together the previous night.

He could vividly recall her calling out his name as she climaxed, her face reflecting her utter bliss and pleasure. He brushed her bangs back as he silently thought of how he had never been so close, neither physically nor emotionally, to anyone but Kagome. He smiled lightly at the glee that filled him as he noted that his first time had been incredible, since it was shared with the woman he truly loved and trusted.

Trust... the word echoed in his head. He had loved and wanted Kikyo once, but what he felt for Kagome was entirely different.

Firstly, he loved Kagome with unequaled passion. He had only loved Kikyo in the simplest state. Secondly, he TRUSTED her. He hardly trusted Kikyo when wer were together. Kagome, who lay within the warmth of his embrace at that very instant, was his life and salvation. She was his world.

He listened intently to her steady breathing as he stroked her cheeks reverently. She was always so calming... even her soft breathing calmed his nerves. She was like a drug that induced the most wonderful effects.

Her scent was especially relaxing to him. He always felt such peace when she was nearby, right where he could see and smell her. Her scent... he smiled as he took a deep breath, inhaling her scent almost greedily.

‘She smells a bit different today,’ he thought dreamily. Yup, she definitely smelled different. She smelled of something that was vaguely familiar, but Inuyasha couldn’t quite remember where he had smelled a similar scent before.

His smile widened when she started to stir. ‘She is so predictable,’ he thought. She always woke up at almost the exact same time everyday. A few minutes after Miroku and a few minutes before Sango. He should know – he always watched her as she slept, and waited til she woke. He never did know why the sight of her asleep fascinated him so. He had assumed that it was probably because he found her sleeping face astoundingly lovely.

Her waking followed the same pattern every time: first, she would open her eyes a tiny fraction, not widely enough to even see. Then, she would close them again and yawn widely as her right hand trto cto cover her mouth in vain. She would scratch the back of her head sleepily, try to feel around for her pillow which wasn’t there at all, and upon realizing that she was in Sengoku jidai and not in her twenty-first century home, her eyes would pop open as wide as sleepily possible. She would then smile at the first person she set her eyes upon, which was usually Inuyasha.

It was the exact same thing that morning.

She smiled lovingly up at him with a smile that drove all other thoughts out of his head. He grinned at her, then kissed her lips gently.

“Ohayou, Kago-ko.”

“Good morning to you too, Inu-chan. How did you sleep?” she asked softly.

“Very well. You?”

“Hmmm... I’ve never slept so soundly. Ever. I must be tired...” she answered with a mischievous wink that made his cheeks burn.

“Keh,” he answered teasingly, his cheeks still tinged with pink. “You most probably are. We did a lot of impromptu exercise last night. That type of night work is said to be REALLY taxing!” he added, laughing heartily when she blushed a red that was nearly as deep as his yukata.

“Mou,” she replied, swatting his nose playfully. She started to laugh along with him, and soon enough, the two were breathless with laughter. Inuyasha had started coughing, and Kagome’s laughter was interspersed with breathless giggles.

“We *cough* should start *cough* dressing up, Kagome. We never know *cough* when someone would barge in here. I don’t think you would want Miroku to see you naked.” Inuyasha strugglo sao say, before grumpily adding, “and neither would I.”

Kagome giggled again. “My, my! Aren’t we possessive?”

“Keh! Of course I am!” Inuyasha said. “You’re MY Kagome, and only one person is allowed to see my mate naked, and that is ME.” He added with a superior air.

“Mate?” Kagome echoed confusedly, an amused glint in her eyes.

“Hai. My mate. My WIFE. In case you haven’t realized, I rightfully claimed you last night. So, like it or not, you’re MY bitch now. No arguments.”

Kagome stopped giggling, but the smile stayed in her beautiful chocolate- hued eyes. She smiled shyly up at him, and for an instant, Inuyasha feared that she would refuse him. But all she did was smile at him.

“Na-nani?” Inuyasha asked with a slightly nervous smile.

“Would I argue with that? I love you, Inuyasha, and I’m glad that you chose me as your mate.”

“I’m glad,” Inuyasha said. “I... I love you too, Kagome. More than life. More than anything. I’d give up everything I have, everything I am, for you.”

“Same here, Inuyasha. I would rather die than live without you. Demo... how will we make this work? We’re from two different worlds, two different times. I’m human, you’re... well, not. Inu- mmph!” Kagome was cut off when Inuyasha kissed her suddenly.

“Kago-ko, I understand what you’re saying. If it means anything, I s I’l I’ll never leave you. I’d follow you anywhere. I would do anything to make you the happiest woman in the world. Just believe me when I say this, koi: I would gladly leave my old life behind, to share a new life with you...” he said with an honest smile.

“Oh, Inu-chan! Thank you! That is so sweet!”

Much to his delight, she pushed herself up to kiss him passionately, the way they had kissed the previous night. This time though, she was the one who controlled the kiss. She lay above him, bracing her arms on either side of him as she slipped her tongue past his surprised lips to slowly coax his tongue into playing with hers. She explored his mouth hungrily, the way he explored hers, and sensually trailed her fingers along the fine muscles of his chest and abs. Her actions were enflaming his passions once more, and he felt himself get hard again as he wrapped his arms around Kagome’s small frame.

“Inuyasha? Kagome? We’re back!”

“SHIPPOU!” Kagome gasped when they heard the little Kitsune’s loud voice from a short distance away. She pulled away from him quickly, and Inuyasha nearly scwe ied in frustration. He was still hard from Kagome’s attentions.

“Inu-chan, I am SO sorry!” Kagome breathed as she struggled to untangle the mass of cloth on the floor that was their discarded clothing.

Inuyasha was still on his back, forcing his heart rate to go back to normal. He sat up as Kagome was putting her ‘bra’ contraption back on. His lower body was still covered by his yukata.

“Not your fault,” he replied grumpily as Kagome threw his inner kimono at him. He caught it and put it on quickly. Shippou and Kaede’s scents were very near! His yukata followed, and both were dressed when the kitsune emerged at the door.

“Kagome!!!” Shippou yelled excitedly as he jumped into Kagome’s arms like usual. Kagome smiled lightly at the fox child as he buried his head into the crook of her neck.

Inuyasha watched from the sidelines, wanting nothing more than to pound the Kitsune. Kaede appeared at the door right before he went over to grab Shippou from Kagome and fling him to the farthest regions of the world.

Kaede looked at the two teeners, feeling clearly stunned. After the initial shock, she let out a sigh of relief. ‘Maybe Shippou got the right vial, after all,’ she thought before excusing herself to put her things back into order.

Kagome saw Inuyasha’s look of pure venom out of the corner of her eye and knew instantly who it was directed at.

She sidled up to him discreetly when Kaede’s back was turned. Shippou jumped down from her arms and ran over to ask Kaede what she was doing, and Kagome took the chance to speak to the angered hanyou.

“Inu-chan,” she began. “I propose that we continue what we started later, in a much ‘safer’ place. Would you be agreeable to that?” she whispered seductively.

Inuyasha visibly brightened. “Would I refuse anything like that?” he replied, pinching her behind discreetly. Kagome giggled and opened her mouth for a retort, but Kaede cut her off.

“Inuyasha, please get Sango and Miroku.”

-----/---@

Sango’s eyes were shining with unshed tears. Happy tears. She could barely believe all that had happened in less than twelve hours.

That morning, she woke up bright and early as usual, and much to her delight, found the sleep-clouded eyes of Miroku looking intently at her face.

-Flashback-

“Good mornineloveloved,” Miroku said before kissing the tip of her nose softly.

“Good morning,” Sango answered. She felt strangely happy. She had thought that it was all a wonderful dream... but now, as she looked up into the eyes of Miroku, she knew that what happened had been reality.

She smiled as she snuggled closer to him, feeling his heart beat steadily against his strong chest. She kissed his collarbone gently as she felt him wrap his arms tighter around her. The gesture, to her, was so familiarly possessive.

She looked up to look at his face again, when she saw that his features were scrunched up with thought once again, staring off into the distance. She loved that look. Hell, she loved all of him, but as much as she loved how his eyebrows knitted together when in concentration, it worried her to realize that something was bothering him.

“Miroku, nani o? Is something wrong?”

Miroku looked at her lovingly, then smiled. “Sango, I have something to ask you.”

“Nani?”

“Before that, I just want to say that... I’m worried about my hand, Sango. I... I just know we’re close to beating Naraku. I can feel it! But... the kazaana isn’t getting any smaller, Sango-chan. I’m scared of what may happen! I’m so happy that you and I are together now but... Sango...”

Sango cut him off with a soft kiss. “We will get him, Miroku. And we will kill him in time. You won’t meet the fate of your forefathers! I know we can do it. With Kagome, Inuyasha, and even Shippou!”

Miroku smiled. “I believe you Sango. Now...”

Miroku took a very deep breath. Then, closing his eyes, he sighed deeply, then opened them again. He looked at Sango seriously, holding one of her hands in his.

“Sango,” he began. “I love you with my whole body and soul. I... I am but a poor monk with nothing extravagant to offer. All I can give you is a decent roof over your head and the best resources I can find, along with my undying love and devotion. With the promise to eternally make you happy and shower you with love, I ask you no

Sango held her breath.

“Sango, when all the chaos is over, will you be my bride?”

-End Flashback-

Sango reached out a hand to hold his face. She slowly traced the curves of his cheeks and eyes as he waited with bated breath. She smiled up at him brightly before answering.

“It’s strange that you ask me to marry you after the ‘wedding night’ took place, but, of course I will, you silly hentai houshi!” she replied with a giggle. “As long as you promise to keep your paws on ME and ONLY me from now on!”

Miroku’s eyes brightened visibly as he nodded vigorously and he crushed her within his arms. He held her to him as tightly as he could, before releasing her just slightly so he could lean down and kiss her. He poured his heart and soul into the kiss, almost wishing for time to stop right then.

He felt the moist coolness of Sango’s tears on his face as they kissed hungrily, and he left her lips to gently kiss away the tears on his beloved’s cheeks. She smiled up at him as they pulled apart.

“I promise, Sango. But I won’t be held responsible for any groping that ensues from now on, ok?”

“As long as the groping is directed at me.” Sango said as she smiled and snuggled up closer to Miroku.

Both wanted to stay like so for longer, but the loud call for Inuyasha and kagome from a young male voice told them one thing: Kaede and Shippou were back.

Miroku reluctantly pulled Sango up. Both dressed quietly, each silently debating on whether they should tell the others or not.

Sango was about to ask when a loud, seemingly annoyed hanyou’s voice cut through the natural silence of the morning.

“Miroku! Sango! Get your lazy asses out here! We’ve got shards to find!”

-----/---@

Kirara ran up to Shippou. The neko was concerned – she smelled a definite change in her mistress’ scent, and it wasn’t just Miroku’s scent on Sango that she sensed. There was... something else.

The group had just finished their breakfast and were preparing to go on another day of shard-hunting. Kaede and Kagome were outside, gathering vegetables that they could bring on the trip. Sango was polishing Hiraikotsu and Miroku hovered over her, asking help with sharpening his shakujou. Inuyasha was scanning the nearest area for threats as usual, wearing a goofy grin on his face. He had been grinning that way since Kagome spoke to him before he called for Miroku and Sango.

Shippou turned as Kirara came up to him. He spoke to her, his features twisted in confusion. “Kirara, Kagome smells really strange!”

Kirara nodded.

“You think so too? She smells like Inuyasha right now, doesn’t she? And Inuyasha smells like her! And there’s some other scent. I just don’t know what it is!”

Kirara nodded, then purred out her reply.

“Sango has changed too? Strange. What do you think caused it?”

Kirara growled a bit. Shippou panicked.

“WHAT?! What do you mean, ‘they’re pregnant’?!”

-----/---@

Kaede heard Shippou’s outburst as she was coming into the house to arrange some things. She was shocked, and realized that the four must have had the wrong medicine. The medicine was made for the purpose of giving barren village couples a chance to have children, not for teenage adventurers!

She slowly walked into the room to talk to Shippou and Kirara. If the youkais’ hunch was right, there would be big trouble indeed!

“Shippou, I couldn’t help but overhear what you said. Are you... certain?” Kaede asked as she apphed hed the two youkai.

Shippou turned toward Kaede half-heartedly. “I don’t know Kaede baa-chan. I just know there’s another scent on Kagome. It’s Kirara that says that they’re pregnant.”

Kirara purred again as Shippou listened to her. Shippou turned back to the old lady and told her what Kirara said. “Kirara says that she is positive. She knows the scent of pregnancy when she smells it.” Shippou started to go pale at that.

“IT”S MY FAULT! WAAAAH!” Shippou wailed loudly. Kaede turned to Kirara at the neko’s questioning look.

“Shippou gave them a child-bearing draught by mistake.” She answered Kirara’s unasked inquiry. Kirara’s small eyes grew a fraction wider at that.

“We have to tell them soon.” Kaede said. “But I’m puzzled. When we found them this morning, everything was as it normally is! There was no indication that anything so groundbreaking had happened.”

Kirara purred and Shippou ‘translated’ with tearstained cheeks. “Kirara says thamethmething happened between them all last night. She had to sleep up on a tree.”

“Well then,” Kaede began. “It is best that we inform them of the situation. Kirara, call Sango and Miroku and bring them back here. Shippou, find Inuyasha. I would call Kagome. Go.”

Kaede sighed as the two youkai left for their tasks. ‘This is going to be hard.’
