Author's Note: For those who are wanting longer chapters; I'm trying my best with the length. I always had trouble with it so please bear with me!
Inyasha sat in his usual tree outside of Kaede's hut, waiting with Shippo on his lap. They had braught Kouga there per the wolf's request. Inuyasha didn't understand why he had to talk to the old woman, he never told them.
"Papa?" piped up Shippo, making Inuyasha look down at the kit. Despite how harsh he was towards him, Inuyasha still felt warmth spread through his chest everytime Shippo called him 'papa'.
"Yes?"
"What do you think they are talking about?"
"I'm not sure, kiddo."
"Well, I hope they are done soon." Shippo sighed and Inuyasha knew that the younger was getting bored. He decided to fix that by tugging on the other's tail and jerked his hand back when the Kit whirled around to grab the offending hand. This went on for minutes, Inuyasha playfully tugging his tail and pulling his hand back when Shippo tried to grab it.
"Inuyasha," Kaede's voice reached him from within the hut, making his ear twitch. "Can ye and Shippo come in?"
"The old woman wants us." Inuyasha informed Shippo before jumping down from the branch and inside of the hut. Kaede was sitting in her usual spot with Kouga leaning against the wall beside the hut entrance.
"What ya want?" Inuyasha asked curiously.
"Kouga and I were speaking and have decided on what the next course of action should be."
"I got one: me training." Inuyasha stated automatically.
Kaede gave him a stern look. "You're wounds have yet to heal fully, so no."
"Then what is it, Lady Kaede?" asked Shippo.
"We think that it would be safer if ye and Inuyasha would go with Kouga to his tribe and rest there."
"What?! You have got to be kidding me! I'm not going anywhere with that idiotic wolf!"
"I don't like it either, muttface." kouga grunted. "But it would be safer than you staying in this village. Naraku knows where it is no doubt."
"We really have to leave?" Shippo asked sadly. "But I wanna stay here!"
"It's not my idea, pipsqueak. Now, say goodbye to the old woman and we can go."
"I told-"
"Inuyasha." Kaede cut Inuyasha off. "It's for the best. Your still too injured right now to fight, so you must go with Kouga to his tribe. Don't worry about the village, we shall be fine."
Inuyasha bit down on his bottom lip before sagging, showing his defeat.
"I'll miss you!" Shippo jumped into Kaede's arms.
"And I you, young one. Do try and behave- especually you, Inuyasha."
Inuyasha tch'd, looking away. He felt Shippo jumping back onto his shoulder a second later.
"We better get going before it gets dark." Kouga stated as he walked out of the hut. Inuyasha glanced at Kaede one last time before following the wolf out and stood beside him, waiting.
"Since your injured and slow, you'll need to be carried."
"YOU ARE NOT CARRYING ME!" Inuyasha snarled. Kouga just ignored the outburst and picked up Inuyasha bridal style before taking off in a mini-tornado, smirking at Inuyasha's surprised squeak.
Inuyasha clung to Kouga, not expecting him to just pick him up and take off like that. Although, Shippo seemed to be having fun since he let out a small whoop from his torso.
"Stupid wolf." Inuyasha growled quietly and Kouga just gave a snicker in reply.
They traveled fast through the forests and plains, not stoping once. It only took until sunset for them to get to the mountain where Kouga's tribe lived and once they got to the caves, Inuyasha's ears went back against his head as he saw a few members giving him glares of disgust and malice.
"Gather everyone." Kouga states as he set Inuyasha down. "I have an announcement to make."
A young looking wolf scrambled off and Kouga led Inuyasha ontop of a large boulder.
"I have an announcement!" stated Kouga once the tribe gathered. "This half-demon and the fox kit will be under my, as well as your, protection. Naraku decimated his pack without remorse and is in need of a safe place to heal. No one is to disturb him while he's in my den unless I say so, do you understand?"
There was a collective 'yes sirs' throughout the crowd.
"Dissmissed!"
The crowd dispersed and Inuyasha finally spoke up.
"What ya mean I'm staying in your den?"
"Only safest place in this tribe. No one will bother you there." Kouga stated before leading him to said den. There was tourches bound to the wall, though they had yet to be lit. Towards the back of the den was a rather large pile of hay and furs.
"Get some rest." Kouga told the two before leaving them. Inuyasha hesitated but laid down on the bed of hay and furs before turning on his side, back towards the entrance, bringing Shippo close to his chest and started to sing a a soft tune that Kagome had taught him to get the small kit to sleep, which didn't take long.
Inuyasha followed suit not too long after.
