A Tale For The Holidays

Dear Readers,

I just wanted to say that I know that the second chapter didn’t have a Christmas song listed. I am having a George Michael moment today and felt it necessary to put at least one more of his songs up before I Christmas ya’ll to death. This story will get to a Holiday point, but ya have to remember that although many more Japanese are celebrating Christmas that it is pretty much a new holiday for Japan since without Kagome the Inuyasha crew wouldn’t know anything about it. So there will be a lesson taught to our favorite characters to look out for as I go along.

By the way thumbs up and smooches to all of ya for the review and votes. Also thanks for just reading since that makes this so much more fun to write.

Inuyasha walked into the hut, but Kagome wasn’t there. He began to freak out. Where the hell could his pregnant wife be? It wasn’t like she could go far since she pretty much walked like a duck where ever she went.

Soon he heard the voice of Sango and Miroku who were busy putting up decorations for this Christmas Holiday that Kagome told them all about.

“Hey Miroku, have you seen my wife?”

Miroku stood up on the ladder and looked down at his friend.

“Yes, she went to Kaede’s with Rin. I think it is time for you know what…….”

Inuyasha was glad he dropped the wood at the hut otherwise he would have dropped it right there.

Inuyasha ran as fast as he could to Kaede’s house and barged in without knocking as usual. He and Kagome promised that if she had the pup he could be there which was very unusual for those days. Normally men had to wait outside until the baby was born.

He saw his wife laying on the futon and received dirty looks from both Rin and Kagome. Kaede just hummed as she stirred up some warm broth and some medicinal herbs to help Kagome with her false labor pains.

“Where were you?”

Kagome demanded as she crossed her arms over her chest.

“I had a run in with Sesshoumaru. I guess the bruise healed up on my face.”

Inuyasha stated as he adjusted his jaw which was still a bit sore.

“Lord Sesshoumaru came? When?”

Rin asked happily.

“About an hour ago, but he only came to beat me up this time. Sorry to get your hopes up Rin.”

Rin’s tried to smile, but the sparkle she had in her eyes dimmed.

Kagome tried to get up to check her husband for wounds, but Inuyasha made her lay back down.

“He didn’t cut me up much Kagome and all those cuts are healed. He mainly just disarmed me and then wanted me to push him down to the ground to test my strength. I guess if he wanted to kill me I would be dead already.”

Inuyasha stated as his eyes also lost some of the sparkle.

“So what did he want?”

Kagome asked.

“He wanted to prove that he was the stronger of the two of us and since I couldn’t beat him he wants me to live at his castle after our pup is born. I am going to assume he is taking you and the pup in with me because I will die first before anyone forces me to be away from you.”

Rin was pretty sad now. She wondered if Lord Sesshoumaru was going to leave her in the village still. He hadn’t promised that she could come with him anymore and it hurt that he never said much to her about it. He always brought her something nice like fans, hair clips, and other very fancy things that made her feel like a princess. They were just things though and not what she truly wanted which was to continue following him like she had done before.

Thing was though, Kohaku was courting her now that she was of age and the thought of being away from everyone here that she got to know was hard on her too. It felt like she was trapped between two worlds.

One world being all encompassing her beloved Lord Sesshoumaru and the other world being Kohaku who she had developed a crush on when they first met. They had even kissed one time and Rin was looking forward to this Christmas Holiday since Kagome said they would make some form of this mistletoe plant that everyone kissed under.

Kohaku had been gone for years fighting demons with Kirara and helping villagers in various regions as Inuyasha and his pack had done.

Now though, Kohaku came to Kaede’s village for Rin so he could someday marry her with Lord Sesshoumaru’s consent if the demon Lord ever stayed for more than a few minutes.

Kohaku came to the village much more often this year donning this beautiful armor that Sango had helped make for him since he had grown so much into a young man. In fact Sango and Rin were making him a new obi for this year’s Christmas gifts.

Rin was taught how to be a demon slayer along with the twins Kanna and Kagura who were now 10 years old with their 8 year old little brother Hiroshi (Properly named after Sango and Kohaku’s Father) learning along with them.

It was Lord Sesshoumaru’s wish that Rin learn from all the humans so that someday if she needed to fight for herself she would be able to defend herself as well as heal her own wounds.

Rin liked using the sickle like Kohaku’s older weapon before Totosai had upgraded it into a formidable fighting weapon with the power to paralyze the demon foes as it took them down.

The only other weapon besides the demon slayers tools was the bow and arrow. That was Lord Inuyasha’s choice for Rin and had been a gift from last year’s celebration.

Rin looked at the people who had become like family to her. She had been there for all the births of Sango and Miroku. Thank goodness they slowed down a bit after their son was born or their small home would have been even more overcrowded. Both had agreed to 20 or more children which would eventually repopulate the demon slayer’s village which they would return to someday.

Kohaku and Rin would live there also, but everyone at the village promised to remain until a new miko was chosen after the death of Kaede.

Kaede was moving slower and slower this year. Everyone knew that eventually she would drift off to sleep and never wake again. It was hard to think of a life without the Grandmotherly figure that opened her heart to all of these small families and had protected the small village with her life more times than any woman should have to do, but Kaede was ready to be with her sister again.

Mushine, the monk who practically raised Miroku had died last year from drowning himself on sake at the Master of Potions (Season 1, Episode 12 Inuyasha the Final Act) as he wished to die in a way he desired. The group of young people hoped that Kaede would get her wish to and die as painless a death as Mushine had died.

Inuyasha looked at his wife and held her hand. He felt so lucky that Kagome loved him as he was and never wanted to let her go.

“I am not going anywhere without you, our pup, and our friends. I really don’t want to leave here, but if Sesshoumaru insists we will have to go.’
“I feel bad about this Kagome since I have beaten him before, but now I know he was just messing with me. I would indeed be dead if Sesshoumaru had really pursued me to kill me since now I see his full power with bakusaiga.’
“I was lucky he only nicked me with it since it did take longer for my wounds to heal. I don’t think I could go up against that sword and survive if he had run me through.”

Kaede sighed.

“I think that this broth is ready for you Kagome. Can you help her sit up Inuyasha?”

Inuyasha did so as Kagome sipped the medicine. It was still a bit hot so Inuyasha set the bowl down until it cooled off a bit.

“Thank you Kaede.”

Kagome stated as she laid back down and tried to rest a bit.
