"Hey Kagome put these in a safer place." Inuyasha said handing her the jewel shards.
Kagome looked puzzled as to why Inuyasha had them in the first place. "So Inuyasha did you take care of that demon you were after?" Kagome asked.
"Heh the demon wasn't worth my time."
"What kind of demon was it Inuyasha?" Shippo asked.
"What does it matter? It was just a lowlife demon. Now lets get some rest so we can head out early morning"
. Inuyasha sat down against a tree while the others went back to Kaede's hut to sleep for the night. Kagome turned and looked at Inuyasha just sitting out there "he must have alot on his mind. That one demon beating him so easily earlier today without breaking a sweat. I wonder what he's thinking about?" Kagome said to herself as she went inside.
Inuyasha watched Kagome go inside with the rest of them before his mind wandered to the demon. So that was the secret of the black widow demons, they change genders to suit there purpose. Must make luring prey easier that way. Inuyasha thought rather disgusted at the trickery they use. Perhaps he should have killled the demon and put him/her out of its misery.
His ears twitched as heard someone approaching, he looked up in the distance to see that same demon coming this way. "Damn this demon doesn't give up does it? Well I guess I have but one choice but to kill it." Inuyasha said as he got up.
The demon almost stumbled over. "Geez what a klutz. What do you want?"
"I wanted to ask you...ow!" Ren yelled as he twisted his ankle. "Damn these legs!"
"What was it you wanted to ask? Or is this another trick to get at those shards?"
"I admit I need the Shikon Jewel but I have no need to try and trick you its not worth it."
"Heh right, your a black widow demon trickery is your specialty well I wont fall for such a trick no matter what form you take."
"Yes I am a black widow demon but what I was going to ask you is if I could join you and your friends?"
"Forget it Widow!"
"Please you must take me with you. I have no idea how long this form may last and..."
"Forget it you'll only slow us down. Why don't you just go do what you black widows do best mate and then devour your spouse."
"Your cruel."
"yeah well that's life get use to it. You probably wouldn't be coming to me if you were in your male form."
"You know too much."
"I do? Look even if I let you come with us that monk will try to seduce you to say the least. I don't think it be wise, as you said you don't know how long this form of yours will last. If Miroku did something and you turned back to your male form during that period he'd be scard for life, actually that be kind of amusing."
"I don't think its very funny."
"No I suppose you wouldn't for you'd probably eat Miroku afterwards huh?"
"That depends?"
"What do you mean it depends?"
"What insticts take over."
"You only have one instict your a black widow for heavens sakes and that would be to eat your mate after consumation."
"Normally yes, But I have a concious as it were."
"What do you mean?"
"My father was..."
"Was?"
"Hu...
"Human?"
Ren nodded. "I see so your a half breed too then?"
"Yes."
"Lord Ren!"Hiroshi called out finally catching up to him.
"Ren? That's a peculiar name for you it doesn't fit you at all."
"What is it Hiroshi?"
"Is it wise to expose yourself like this?"
"We leave first thing in the morning Ren better get some rest. You try anything funny and I'll cut you down." Inuyasha said as he headed back to his tree.

The next morning Ren woke up he walked down to the river. When he saw his reflection he frowned he was still in this female body. He scooped up some water with his hands and took a drink.
He saw Inuyasha talking to the others about him. He hoped he wasn't telling them about his gender changing. The girl in the wierd outfit waved him over. "Hiroshi come on lets go."
Hiroshi jumped down out of the tree and followed him. Ren stopped as saw the fox kit he'd be able to see right through him.
"Shippo I want a word with you privately." Inuyasha said.
Shippo looked at the girl who just stood there looking at them and then towards Inuyasha. They were in the presence of a demon and yet Inuyasha wasn't doing anything about it. Not that this demon would do any harm.
"What is it Inuyasha?"
Once they were far enough away Inuyasha spoke. "you can smell the demon on her do you not?"
"Yes."
"She's a black widow demon."
"What your going to let a black widow demon tag along with us."
"She's a he its the same one from yesterday afternoon."
"And you want him/her to join us?"
"Would you prefer if he joined Naraku? If that happened we'd be in trouble. You've seen how powerful his male form is."
"Yeah...but how long is this form going to last before he's back to being a man?"
"Who knows?"
"Well the others will find out sooner or later."
"I suppose they will."
"This wont make Miroku happy when he finds out."
"In any case Shippo I'd shut your trap or I will give your head a beating. Besides Ren would do away with you as soon as he turned back to his male form if you told."
"I understand."
"Good now lets go back to the others."
"She looks hurt." Miroku said noticing the way she was limping.
"She's being followed by a cat demon." Sango said.
"I wonder where she came from?" Kagome asked.
Ren came over and stood in front of the group not sure what to say. He hated relying on others but he had no choice. "Inuyasha says your need our help."
"Yes."
Ren didn't like the way Miroku was staring at her with curiousity and caution. "What's your name?" Sango asked.
"Ren."
"Ren what a lovely name it fits you perfectly." Miroku said with a broad smile.
"Um...thank you. Is he always like this?" Ren asked the girls.
"Miroku we don't have the time for your flirtations." Inuyasha said.
"Your right we got to find more of the jewel shards."
They headed off Inuyasha in the lead followed by Kagome and Shippo, followed by Ren and Hiroshi, Miroku walked behind Ren admiring her slender back side. Sango walked beside Miroku pondering why on earth Inuyasha would let this girl come along on such a dangerous journey such as there's. She figured something was up but wasn't sure what. Perhaps she could have a talk with this Ren later to get to know her more.
