Chapter Three

* * *

Kagome hummed quietly to herself as she went around her room, looking through the boxes that had arrived before her and her father did. She was at the moment looking for suitable clothing to wear to her school, wearing your own clothes was different to her. Since at her old school they had a uniform, finding an outfit amongst the clutter was turning out to be seemingly impossible.

After a few more moments of searching Kagome had finally come upon an outfit that would do for today, grabbing the clothes she headed to the bathroom to take a quick shower before leaving for school.

After exiting the bathroom, freshly cleaned and clothed Kagome quickly made her way to her bedroom to grab her book bag before heading downstairs, although there was still a good hour or so before school started she wanted to leave early to find the school, and her classes when she made it there.

As she reached the bottom of the stairs she noticed her father sitting down on one of the available couches in the living room reading, she approached him and smirked as she noticed the book in his hands. “Interview with a Vampire, hm?” She questioned.

Landon looked up and greeted his daughter with a smile, “Yes, It is a good read.”

Kagome nodded and went towards the door to leave but stopped at her father's voice.

“Are you going to school already?”

Kagome turned around with a smirk upon her face, “No, I just thought it would be fun to go outside dressed and with my book bag.”

She chuckled as her father scowled at her sarcasm, she smiled. “Yes, I am going to school right now.”

“I thought it didn't start for another hour?” He questioned.

Kagome nodded, “It doesn't but I want to make sure I can find it- and I need to find my classes too.”

Landon looked thoughtful for a moment before nodding, “Okay, But remember after school we need to get your license updated for here, try not to get pulled over on your way to school.”

Kagome mentally rolled her eyes, but nodded. “Sure, sure. I'm leaving now, be good!”

Landon waved to her “I always am” he stated, before returning his attention towards his book.

Shaking her head Kagome walked out the door, and made her way to her father's car. After getting inside she turned the car on and the heat up before grabbing the GPS on the window and entering the school's address into it. After seeing it find the location entered into it, she pulled out of the driveway and started following the directions given to her.

Forty five minutes later a very aggravated Kagome entered the school's parking lot. After finding a parking spot she glared down at the device that had taken her the longest most difficult way to the school. She growled, she was really starting to hate technology as of now. With a sigh she looked around the parking lot, it was pretty full. Which was to be expected, though Kagome was glad that she had left when she did otherwise she would have been later for her first day of school.

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she turned off the car, and made sure she was presentable before getting out and heading inside the school grounds.

Once inside the warm hallways Kagome looked around, nervously chewing on her bottom lip as she searched for the attendance office. After a few moments of looking, she found it and entered.

Once inside she noticed a small woman behind the desk, looking at her computer. Seeing that she had not been noticed from the secretary she walked quickly to the front of the desk. “Excuse me” looking down at the desk she noticed the name, “Mrs. Cope.”

The woman looked up, surprised at not hearing the student when she had entered.

Mrs. Cope offered the girl a small smile, “Yes dear? What can I do for you?”

Kagome returned the smile, “I'm new here, I was wondering if I could please get my schedule?”

Mrs. Cope nodded and hummed as she went to computer, the room was silent aside from the clicking of the mouse and tapping of the keyboard.

After a few moments Mrs. Cope looked up towards Kagome, making eye contact with her. “Kagome Higurashi, correct?”

Kagome nodded.

Soon the sounds of the printer was heard throughout the small room, Mrs. Cope rose from her seat and went towards the printer, grabbing the multiple sheets she stabled them together before handing them to Kagome.

“ Here you go, your classes should be easy to find, but If you need any help please do come and ask me, or any of the staff , I'm sure a fellow student would be able to help you too.” She said.

Kagome looked over her classes and then back to towards Mrs. Cope, she smiled.

“Thank you very much, I'll be sure to do that.”

After bidding Mrs. Cope goodbye Kagome exited the room, and went back into the hallways-wandering around trying to find her first class.

She sighed in relief as she reached the class just as the bell rang, she entered to see it mostly full.

The teacher turned around to face her, “Yes, may I help you?” He asked.

Kagome nodded, “I'm Kagome Higurashi and in this apparently my first class.” she answered quietly.

He hummed, “Of course, Of course- please go and sit by Mr. Cullen- Mr. Cullen please raise your hand so Ms. Higurashi knows who you are.”

Kagome looked thoughtful as she turned towards the class, noticing a buff male raise his hand into the air. Kagome smiled in recognition at the face, figure and name of the man who raised his hand.

She quickly made her way towards him and sat down beside him.

He smiled towards her, in which she returned before both returned half of their focus to the teacher.

The class had passed quickly, and Kagome had been able to follow everything that was being taught- though some things she didn't understand, she had decided that since her father was so old, he would know some of these things.

After the bell rang she gathered her books and put them back into her bag before starting to leave, she was stopped however by a gruff voice.

“Wait!”

She turned towards the voice and saw the boy she had sat next to, Emmett she believed, Approach her.

“Hey” He greeted, “I didn't know you were going to school here.”

She smiled, “Hello, Yes- my dad said I could have started later, but the sooner the better I suppose.”

He chuckled, “Yeah, thats true. So how do you like it in Forks so far?”

Kagome hummed for a moment as she thought it over before answering, “Well we had only arrived yesterday, and all we did was go to your families home before leaving to our own. But today thanks to a detour I was able to see most of the town. Its nice, and green.” She finished with a smile.

He laughed again, “Ah, a detour? For what?”He questioned, “My brother's girlfriend said the same thing about the green anyways.” he finished with a smirk.

Kagome glanced at him for a moment, “Can we go to my locker? I need to find it and change some things.”

He nodded and they walked towards the direction Kagome had seen it at.

“As for the detour thing, it was my dad's stupid GPS, I swear those things just like to boss you around so they take you the longest way.” She told him, remembering his earlier question.

He smirked, “Yeah, I wouldn't doubt it. Also, I thought your dad was driving a rental car yesterday?”

Kagome shrugged her shoulders, “Yeah, I guess it was at the house last night, and my dad returned the rental car really early in the morning.”

Emmett looked as though he was going to say more but got interrupted by the bell, he frowned. “Well, I have to get to class. Will join my family at lunch? I'm sure they would all want to see you.”

Kagome nodded, “Sure! sounds great.”

Waving goodbye to her, Emmett left and went towards his next class. Kagome watched him go, and then heard another bell cursing herself she grabbed her books and ran to her next class.

* * *

Emmett glanced around the crowded cafeteria anxiously. It slightly amused him that a few days ago he was doing the same thing, though instead of doing it out of anxiousness he was doing it with a mixture of boredom and depression.

Alice grinned at her brother, “Don't worry Emmett, she is going to have lunch in here- and sit with us.”

He glanced at her briefly, “I know.” He said before returning his attention looking around the cafeteria.

He jumped up quickly as he noticed the familiar figure as she walked in the doors, almost knocking down the table with the force he used to get up.

He waved his arms frantically to the girl that was in the lunch line. “Kagome!! Over here!!”

She jumped at the sudden loud noise but looked at him and nodded. Silently telling him that she would be over there shortly.

“Jeez Emmett, are you trying to get her attention, or make an airplane land?”

Edward asked his brother-going off of how his brother was waving his arms, he chuckled at the glare he received from his brother.

After glaring at his brother, Emmett sat in his previous seat. Watching Kagome as she paid for her food and then made her way to their table.

He wasn't over Rose yet, that much he knew for sure. But when spending so much time with one person, it was common for it to be hard to let go of them.

Yet, something about this girl, Kagome, Intrigued him, she was different- from what he had been able to gather so far of her.

The fact that her father, knew his- was an obvious sign that they would see each other often. Which to him, he didn't mind much.

He was brought out of his musings as Kagome sat between himself and Jasper, she greeted all of them before starting to eat her food. Emmett was glad that Alice had thought beforehand to bring an extra chair to their table.

Emmett looked at her with interest, “You can eat?” he questioned.

She finished chewing before answering, “Yes, But lately I haven't had to eat at often as usual, my dad says its because I'm getting older are the ward will be coming off soon.”

She quickly finished her food, just in time to get questioned from his sister, Alice.

“So Kagome, How do you like the school so far?” She questioned, while tipping her head to side like a confused puppy.

Kagome smiled, “It's nice. Different from my other school- I'm glad we don't have to wear uniforms here, but I don't have many clothes with me. So I might have to go shopping soon.”

She finished with a frown, obviously showing her loathe for the sport called shopping.

Alice clasped her hands together and smiled widely, “Shopping?! Thats great! We can go together! ! That is if you would want to anyways.” Alice suggested.

Kagome nodded and smiled, “That sounds great.”

This time Bella spoke, “Not to sound rude or anything- but how do you speak English so well? I mean aren't you from Japan?”

Kagome chuckled, surprisingly that was the first time she was asked that, but she knew it would happen soon.

She shook her hand in an , ' oh you' fashion and responded.

“No worries, They teach English at my school- but I knew before then, my mother and father taught me both English and Japanese when I was small, that way I knew both of my parent's 'first' language.”

Bella blushed, but nodded. “That makes sense.”

The rest of the lunch period was spent talking about everything and anything that had come to mind. But too quickly the bell rang and all of the Cullens, Bella and Kagome made their way to their own classes.

* * *

Kagome sighed in relief as she stepped out of her final classroom, glad the day was finally over she started towards the parking lot. The day hadn't been bad, she enjoyed most of her classes, and the fact that she actually knew some people at the school already made it easy to avoid the 'eat by yourself' day of school. She also had most of her classes with a few of the Cullens, but mainly Emmett.

They were as she thought before hand, very interesting and she really couldn't wait for the following days of school, she chuckled mentally to herself, this is the first time she actually thought she would be happy to go to school.

“Yo Kagome!”

Looking at the direction of the voice she smiled, as she made eye contact with Emmett seeing him wave her over she approached the spot where he and his siblings were standing.

“Hey guys.” She greeted.

They all returned the greeting in a familiar way.

“Do you want to come to our house?” Emmett asked.

Kagome shook her head, “I would, but I have things to do right now. But knowing my dad we will probably be there later tonight.”

Alice sighed, “Awe, well I guess that is still good- I'm sure Esme would love to talk to you more, and we still need to arrange a shopping date.”

Kagome smirked and nodded,

Bidding goodbye to them for now, Kagome want towards her car, and got in and started on her way home.
