Surprise! Kagome’s a What?

AN: Thanx for the review Suniko. Anyways, on with the story.

*** With Sesshomaru (His POV) ***

The shrieking was really getting on his nerves. Even his beast was roused and irritated at this point.

~ Just one little kick… we could end it. He can’t scream if he’s dead. ~

* Hn, unfortunately that would leave us without someone to watch over Rin. *

~ We could find a replacement ~

* Sadly none would be so loyal *

~ … ~

Sesshomaru was brought out of his conversation with his beast by the smell of a female. Oh, and what a smell it was, vanilla and some type of fruit he couldn’t identify. He had to investigate. Sesshomaru turned back to his ward. “Rin stay with Jaken and Ah-Un, Jaken if anything should happen to Rin your life will be forfeit.” With that he headed off towards the scent that called to him so. Not far down the river, he spotted her.

* Why does she seem so familiar? I just can’t place where I know her from. * Sesshomaru watched as she stood eyes closed entirely focused on the sound, smell, and even the feel of the forest around them. As he took in her beauty he noticed something. Sorrow, subtly laced in with her scent. He took the time to look her over, before she realized he was there. She was exquisite, from her blue-black hair to the tips of her toes. What intrigued him the most was the image on her forehead though. It was a cracked pink orb. He knew most of the family markings within his territory, but he’d never seen this one.

** Kagome’s POV **

Kagome closed her eyes, the air was damp, it would probably rain tomorrow. She found that with her new heightened senses just closing her eyes she could examine the world around her in new and more interesting ways. She could hear the whoosh of the stream as water rushed past. Even the smallest splash of a fish just brushing past the surface made an impact on her senses. The breeze made the most soothing sound, almost like the exhale of a tired traveler moving through the forest. Next she focused on smell, the stream had a smell that was uniquely water, fresh and clean and clear. She could smell the dirt beneath her feet, the trees around her held a musky smell of age. It was then she discovered a new smell, something that wasn’t there before. Male, Inuyoukai male and a strong one at that. He smelled like the forest itself, which is why she hadn’t detected it before, there was just a slight hint of what could only be described as rain to his scent which intrigued her.

It was then that she opened her eyes to find out who was behind this new and interesting scent. As she looked towards the man only one thing sprang into her mind. *Sesshomaru*

** Normal POV **

Sesshomaru was the first to speak. “Who are you? What are you doing on my lands?” Sesshomaru wore his usual mask of indifference, and he spoke, in his regal tone.

Kagome was shocked. Had she changed so much that he could not tell who she was? She made a mental note to find a mirror at the soonest opportunity. “I am the Shikon Miko Kagome. I was not aware I was on your lands, but please accept my apology Sesshomaru-sama.” Kagome made a small bow as a proper greeting to the Lord of the West. Whatever he had been expecting, that was not it. He just managed to keep his shock from registering on his face, but it took him a moment to reply.

“Do not lie to this Sesshomaru… The Shikon Miko is a human. You are not. This Sesshomaru will not repeat himself. Now answer the question.”

At his rude response Kagome became slightly miffed to put it lightly, though she was able to control herself. “I was human Sesshomaru-sama, but Inuyasha made a wish on the Shikon no Tama and now we are both full inuyoukai.”

** Sesshomaru’s POV **

This Sesshomaru had a hard time believing, but after a quick sniff he knew she wasn’t lying for there was no deception in her scent. It didn’t make sense though. He didn’t profess to know a whole lot about Inuyasha’s wench but she didn’t seem irresponsible enough to just give over the jewel to his stupid half-brother to make such a selfish wish upon. So he did what naturally came next. “Why?”

After asking the question he quickly noticed the shift in her scent, a mixture of irritation and sadness that piqued his curiosity. “He stole the jewel from me and made his wish. I can only assume that he wished for us both to be Inuyoukai because he thinks I’ll become his mate. “She sighed and rubbed her temples, the day was catching up with her, and she was getting a headache from all the stress.

Sesshomaru had to think on that one for a minute. *The half breed is no longer a half breed…* He mused.

~ You have a beautiful inu-demoness standing in front of you and you want to worry about our damn half brother! ~

*Silence, this Sesshomaru did not ask for your opinion.*

~ Too bad! I WANT HER! ~

*She is our half brothers wench. This Sesshomaru will not settle for his cast offs.*

~ First off, if you were listening he still wants her, so technically she’s not a cast off. Secondly you cannot tell me you cannot smell her innocence. It’s so intoxicating. TAKE HER! ~

*You will be silent beast for you will not persuade me.*

~ I’ll leave you alone for now, but I’m not done arguing over her. ~

Sesshomaru almost sighed with relief, before he caught himself and continued his questioning. “Why are you not with the retch?” What surprised him the most was she did not object to his calling Inuyasha a retch.

** Kagome’s POV **

She didn’t react to the term retch because to be truthful, she wasn’t feeling all that amicable towards him herself at the moment. So she just replied. “He’s back with the rest of our pack. I needed some time to think. Though it seems I’ve gone further than I intended to.”

*So far so good* She thought to herself. *At least I still have my head attached*

~ Ooh, he looks yummy! ~ Kagome was startled when she heard another voice coming from inside her head.

*Great now I’m hearing voices again. I think I’m going crazy.*

~ No you’re not going crazy. I’m your beast. Your primal side, you know, the beast that lerks inside. You’ve seen demons loose control before, you should know that you’d have one too now that you’re a demoness! ~

*Oh, sorry. Ok, but you don’t seem like a raving lunatic and that’s what most demons are like when they lose control.*

~ That’s because when demons lose control it’s usually due to rage or lust. The two emotions that really make a beast go crazy. ~

** Sesshomaru’s POV **

Suddenly the woman was frowning and not looking at him anymore. It was then that he realized after a second what was going on. *So she is talking with her beast…interesting*

Then he heard her speak. “You really shouldn’t say stuff like that about Sesshomaru, he’d probably kill you for that.” Now that was impossible to ignore.

“Hn, and what might it be that your beast has to say about this Sesshomaru?” He asked amused more than irritated. The look of shock and horror on her face was just priceless…
