Chapter 3
Heir
Today marks day 3 that I have returned to my ‘normal’ life. Well as normal as an heir to a billion dollar company can be. I don’t think I can ever get use to the attention that being Sesshomaru’s heir has given me. Or my name change for that matter. No longer am I just Kagome Higurashi now I am Kagome Higurashi-Taisho. The adoption in to his family was legal and complete. We had taken care of all that stuff before going to the press conference that publicly names me as Heir to the Taisho fortune.
And god was it a fortune, I had found out that Sesshomaru is the richest man in Japan and the second richest in the world. Even though I am heir to this fortune I know it is only in namesake because Sesshomaru will never grow old and die; at least not before herself. It was still a lot to take in because now demons are not my only worry. No now I also have to watch out for money grubbing males that only want me for my supposed money. If I was to every marry it would have to be with someone who knows of demons and could understand what was really going on.
This means I’m limited to demon males or informed humans, in other words demons. I maybe the only informed human that is single because any informed humans would be taken. They would have become informed only when they had taken a demon mate.
From the little I had spoken with Sesshomaru I was told that the demons of this era hide their secret viciously. The last informed human was over a century ago meaning the ones alive were those that were a mate to demons.
I am in for a lonely life.

“Kagome Sesshomaru-san is here” The voice of Kagome’s mother could be heard yelling from the bottom of the stairs as she saw the ‘man’ she was speaking of coming towards the home.
“Coming” Kagome called after her mother as she slipped on the new shoes she bought yesterday for this occasion. Looking into the mirror on her closet door Kagome straightens her female business suit that Sesshomaru had told her to pick up and left the room with haste not wanting to keep him waiting long.

“And sign there” the beefy finger of the town hall clerk pointed to the paper.
Looking down to where the man pointed Kagome signed her life away. And Sesshomaru also signed below her name as newly appointed guardian.
“Here you go Ms. Taisho this is for your copies and these are for Mr. Taisho” the clerk stated as he handed her two separate files of papers.
“Thank you” Kagome said as she excepted the files knowing not to even attempt to give Sesshomaru his until they return to the limo. ‘Kagome Taisho’ was her only thought as she looked down at the files that named her family to Sesshomaru.
Once they returned to the limo Kagome hand Sesshomaru his copy of the paperwork “here you go” she said and as the paper was switching hands something finally occurred to her ‘Sesshomaru is now my Daddy!’ and as ridiculous that statement was Kagome could not stop the giggle that broke through her mouth.
Hearing her giggle Sesshomaru looks over to the miko with a raised brow clearly asking ‘and what is so funny’ silently.
Another giggle “So do I call you Daddy now?” she asked with a smile as she tried to hold in the laugh that wanted to come out making a very comical face.
Seeing what she found funny he could not help the lift in one side of his mouth as he tried to stop the humorous smile that wanted to come to him. “In public you will have to address me as such but not as daddy. You will address me as father.” (hahahahaha I have seen many where he takes her as sister, but I thought this would put a funny twist to things.)

“No camera’s of any kind will be allowed within the press conference. My Heir is still underage and I have the right to deny pictures for safety purposes.” Sesshomaru stated with authority to the security officer that would be in charge of admittance into the call they were to have the conference.
“Yes Sir!” The man exclaimed before turning to inform the others of this rule to see that it is upheld.
Following behind Sesshomaru quietly Kagome looked around the room they were to have the conference in. Seeing all the seats that she knew where to be filled she became a little nervous ‘I can do this’ she thought to herself as she took a deep breath and held it in for a few seconds before exhaling slowly to center herself.
Know about her nervousness he did not see need in mentioning it as he could tell she was trying to take care of it herself. “You will stand behind stage until you are announced and then you will walk in from the right side and come to a stop at my side.”
Kagome nodded her head as she looked to the right side of the stage thing they were standing on “Ok” she stated more to herself then him.
“You have no need to speak nor do you have to answer any questions. Just be silent and wait, but you must look upon the crowd without fear. You are to be the next owner of my company and you must project the image that you are capable of such a feat in the future when trained.
Straightening her back Kagome answers him “hai” she will not embarrass him or herself today.

The sounds of people shouting questions could be heard clearly from back stage where Kagome was standing waiting for the announcement. Doing some breathing exercises she tries to calm her nerves. ‘think of this as acting. I can pull this off’ she thought to herself reassuringly.
“Mr. Taisho, Is your heir here today? Will we meet him?” a female voice shouted from with in the room filled with reports from all over the world.
“Mr. Taisho is it true that your heir is adopted?” a male voice shouted right after the female.
“Mr. Taisho as one of the worlds most eligible bachelors why did you see the need to adopt?” Another female voice shouted from within the mass of reporters.
“The world wants to know Mr. Taisho who is this new Heir to Taisho corp.?” A man shouted before the room was quieted by Sesshomaru’s press manager.
“Please be silent and allow Mr. Taisho to speak” was the sound of the only other person on the stage with Sesshomaru.
“Once the room was quiet Sesshomaru spoke “I will not answer asinine questions. I am here to announce my Heir Kagome Taisho.” he finished turning his eyes to the right of the stage knowing that is where she will be coming from.
Hushed whispers broke out through the room as a young beautiful lady walks onto the stage with her head held high. “My daughter and heir to Taisho corp.” he announced as she took her place beside him. Placing a comforting hand on her back he told her silently that she was doing good.
With the same nod she saw Sesshomaru give others a million times already she greeted the crowd silently.

Sitting on her bed taking those hurtful heels off Kagome sighs “that wasn’t so bad” she spoke into the quietness of her bedroom. She got away with not having to say a single word to them, to which she was grateful. She knew it would take some time getting use to this sort of thing.
A lot of the questions asked though had made her see things she had not before. Someone had asked if there was an arranged marriage already prepared for her as is custom in other rich families. Though Sesshomaru saw no point in answering this question it bought worries to Kagome’s mind.
She was not worried that he would actually place her in an arranged marriage, but it also made her see that she would have problems finding love. “Figures. I trade one problem for another.” Kagome stated as she stood to take off her cloths and change in to some pajamas.
