Chapter 2
Heartache’s Never-ending Circle
Just fake it if you’re out of direction
Fake it if you don’t belong
Just fake it if you feel like infection
Whoa
You’re such a fucking Hypocrite
Don’t you know that the lies won’t hide your falls
No sense of hiding all of yours
You gave up on your dreams along the way
Yea
Kagome climbed the rope ladder her grandfather had set up for her; just to make it easier to get out of the well. Climbing was becoming more difficult as she got higher; her tears were blurring her vision so badly. She couldn’t get what Inuyasha had said out of her head. It was like a broken record. Repeating constantly every word he had said to her. So she tried to think about that last view of Sango holding Shippo with Kirara lying nearby. She blocked everything from her mind but that vision. When she made it to the top Kagome took two steps away from the well and turned around.
Facing the well Kagome brought forth the power to create barriers. She was never as thankful to Kaede and Miroku as she was now. They had taken the time to teach her how to create them. Taking a deep breath Kagome created a barrier that would keep Inuyasha inside the well. Even his Tetsaiga would not be able to breach it. Kagome turned around and walked out of the old well house. The air inside dank and smelling of rotting leaves and moist wood. Stepping outside Kagome took a deep breath of fresh air. The wind drying the tears on her cheeks, Kagome looked at the house on her left and opted to walk to the foot of the Tree of Ages.
Sighing Kagome sat on the bench that was in the shade of the ancient tree she leaned forward placed her elbows on her knees and her head in her left hand the right dangling as if she could not move it. That is how her mother found her an hour later.
“Kagome! I didn’t know you were coming back so soon!” Mrs. Higurashi exclaimed as she caught her first glimpse of her daughter beneath the ancient tree.
“Hi mom.” Kagome replied dejectedly. Not looking up at her mother.
“Kagome, dear, what’s wrong?” Mrs. Higurashi asked worriedly. Wondering what had made her daughter behave like her dog had gotten hit by a truck.
“Mom! Why does he treat me like that!? I can’t understand it; before Kikyo came back he was totally different. Now it’s like I am some kind of stain on the world. He doesn’t seem to even care how much he’s hurting me!”
“So Inuyasha is behaving like any other boy. Kagome, you must understand that sometimes the Kamis have more in store for us than you could ever imagine. I would say to try one more time before giving up on him. I am sure that he just doesn’t know what he’s doing.”
“Mom he knows what he’s doing, every one in the group knows. I have tried to talk to him. All he says is that I am a disgusting reincarnation. Mom I just don’t know what to do. He doesn’t want me anymore. I mean he has Kikyo again. Why would he want me?”
“Oh Kagome! Come inside take a hot bath; and I’ll cook you something to eat.”
“OK mom. I still don’t see how that is going to help anything.”
“Well first it will allow you to relax so you can think straight. Second it will let you see things in a new light. Go and get in the bath, Kagome.”
Smiling softly Kagome stood up and gave her mother a big hug before heading toward the house to do what she was told.
Sitting beneath the tree Mrs. Higurashi’s smile turned into a frown. ‘Maybe it is time to have her let go of him.’ She knew what was on the other side of that well. If Kagome didn’t have Inuyasha she was sure to come back; but if she found someone else she could end up staying anyway. Maybe she should stay with Inuyasha, he seems to be messing every thing up any way.
Standing Mrs. Higurashi shook her head. She was not going to watch her daughter get hurt just so she could keep her baby by her side. That would be pointless just the pain her daughter would have to go through, it would cause her more pain because she would know it was her fault.
Looking up at the tree of ages Mrs. Higurashi thought about her husband. Dead so many years now. Her eyes teared up as a vision of her love came to her minds eye. She couldn’t let something happen to their first born baby. No matter how much she wanted to protect her child forever.
Inuyasha was walking slowly up to the well wondering if an insincere apology would fix it this time like it had all the other times. Shaking his head to rid it of those worries he smirked. ‘Of course it will fix it. She always forgives me if I turn my sad dog eyes on her.’ He thought to himself. Just then he came upon the old well took a deep breath and jumped, a flash of bright white blue light and he was gone.
On the other side Inuyasha smirked again. She hadn’t even figured out a way to keep him in the past, what a baka. With a short bark of laughter he jumped to get out and before he reached the top he hit a barrier. He fell back again and when he looked up he didn’t see the inside of the well house he saw the clear blue sky of his own time looking back down at him.
Snarling Inuyasha jumped out of the well and thought everything through again. ‘So she thinks to keep me out by putting up that tiny barrier! Ha! I wonder how Kikyo’s soul ever became reincarnated in such an Idiot!’ He began to laugh nervously. The power of the barrier he hit had Kagome’s scent but it was tougher than she could ever manage. There was no way she had put it up. He walked to the barrier again, nervous about trying to break the barrier. If there were any humans nearby, they could get hurt. And Inuyasha didn’t want to know what Kagome would do to him if her family got injured. But he had to try.
Kagome went to school, hung out with her friends, talked with her mother, picked on Souta and her grandpa. Nothing she did could take her mind off her barrier. Since that first day here Inuyasha tried again and again to get through it, failing each and every time. She wondered if he would give up eventually. Thought it over and answered herself, ‘No he won’t give up until I speak with him.’
So the next day, when Inuyasha showed up in the well Kagome was sitting at the top waiting for him. Inuyasha was so surprised he nearly fell down on his ass.
“There you are! I have been trying to get out of this well so we could talk for almost a week!” Inuyasha shouted at her.
“Why Inuyasha? I probably wouldn’t understand anything you have to say since I am only a stupid reincarnation, remember?” Kagome asked him sadly.
“You idiot! I was upset about what had happened the night before!” Inuyasha said angrily.
“I don’t care Inuyasha! Just leave me alone I need a few days to think without you around! Why can’t you see that!? I requested for you to stay in your own time! Why can’t you give me some time to think things through!? I am sick of it Inuyasha! I am not some possession that you can take every where you want just because you think I belong to you! I do not belong to anyone! LEAVE ME ALONE INUYASHA!!!” Kagome yelled at him in fury.
“Look Kagome, I’m sorry. I really am; about everything. Please come back with me. We need your help.” He turned on his big sad dog look.
“No dice Inuyasha. I won’t fall for that routine again. Your only option is to leave me in peace for a little while. Just leave!” Kagome said disgustedly. He actually expected her to fall for that one! The nerve of the dog!
“FINE! I’ll go but think on this; without me around you could get into a lot of trouble. I protect you remember? So when you come back I will expect some respect from you! No more sitting me! Got that?”
“Inuyasha, you have to give respect before you get any. You got that? I get no respect from you, so you will get none from me. You do not always protect me. Miroku, Sango, even Shippo and Kirara have done that. I do however protect you. From your self, your brother, even Kikyo. Now go away Inuyasha.”
“Why you little-” Inuyasha jumped toward her. Before he could reach the barrier Kagome said the two words that always mean pain for him.
“Sit boy.”
And she walked out of the well house. Stayed at home for a month; was soothed by her mother. Told by her friends that there were better guys out there; ones that weren’t so possessive.
When she went back through the well Kagome still hadn’t thought of what to do. But she knew that her time with Inuyasha was short. So she had brought along something that might cheer him up. Climbing out of the well Kagome came face to face with a pair of golden eyes. She let out a squeak of surprise. The eyes were familiar to her but they did not belong to Inuyasha.
“S-s-sesshoumaru? What are you doing here? You scared me out of my wits!” Kagome said breathlessly.
“This Sesshoumaru does not need any reason to be here. Wench where does this well lead to?”
“MY NAME IS K-A-G-O-M-E! KAGOME! NOT WENCH! And as for the well, you don’t need to know.”
“This Sesshoumaru knows what your name is wench. I am not stupid. Perhaps because you spend so much time around my half-brother you believe all Inu Demons to be stupid. As for the well I might not need to know; but I want to. Do you understand this Sesshoumaru?” Sesshoumaru had narrowed his eyes to slits and glared at her. The tenacity of this ningen was surprising. Speaking to him like that.
“Look Mr. I have had a bad month and I suggest you let me get out of this well before This Kagome purifies That Sesshoumaru’s ass out of this world!” Kagome huffed angrily. Really these dogs had no consideration.
“Did you just threaten this Sesshoumaru’s body?”
“NO I just threatened your life; now back off and let me out or so help me god I WILL purify you! That would just be one less problem for me on a long list of problems!”
“Hmmm.” Sesshoumaru took a step back and let Kagome get the rest of the way out of the well.
“Now that you have gotten out of the well, you will answer my question.” Sesshoumaru leveled a cold look at her.
“No I will not. The well is of no concern of yours. Now if you will excuse me I have to get to Lady Kaede’s hut. Good day Sesshoumaru!” So saying Kagome attempted to stalk past him.
Sesshoumaru grabbed her arm, spun her around and growled low in his throat.
“You will not insult this Sesshoumaru. I wish to know where the well goes and I will find out with or without your information wench.” Sesshoumaru narrowed his cold eyes. “Or do I need to start questioning your friends.” He knew it was an idle threat; he wouldn’t go near her friends. But his cold voice and eyes told her other wise. He hadn’t earned his reputation by backing out on any threat; and he wouldn’t start now. If he had to question her friends he had the perfect way.
“Sesshoumaru, get a life. I need to go and don’t even think about going near my friends. The purification threat still stands.” To prove her point Kagome sent a burst of purification light through her arm straight into the hand he had on her arm.
“Fair enough miko.” Sesshoumaru relented thinking about placing Rin in the care of the slayer until she could find out where the well went to for him. “I need to have a word with the slayer.”
“Don’t you dare try to question her. She’ll kick your ass.” Kagome said angrily.
“With you close by I wouldn’t dare.” Sesshoumaru muttered with a smirk. “I merely wish for your group to watch after Rin for a short period of time. That is all.”
“Well you don’t need to ask her. Sure we’ll take Rin we probably won’t be leaving Edo for a while. Where is she at?” Kagome asked feeling absurdly like this was all a set up.
“Off with your kit and the Neko. Picking flowers for lady Kagome she said. Because she was so upset when she left according to the kit.” Sesshoumaru leveled a look at her that just said he knew why she had left like that. But he never said it and he didn’t ask if it was true.
Kagome felt lower than low. Walking down the hill to Edo with Sesshoumaru smirking like he knew a great big secret. Kagome and Sesshoumaru walked into Edo village together; he escorted her to Kaede’s home without saying another word. When they stood outside Kaede’s door he just turned around and walked away.
“Ah, Kagome there ye be. I am glad to see ye returned to us safely.” Kaede said as she came to the doorway.
“Kaede, what has been going on since I left?” Kagome asked really confused.
“Well come inside and I will tell ye all.” Kaede said as she turned around and walked back inside her hut.
Following, Kagome began to wonder why Sesshoumaru would be in Edo. And why he would want them to watch over Rin for even a short time. Kagome sat next to the fire waiting for Kaede to calm herself and relax across from her.
“Kaede, I must know, what has been going on around here? I climb out of the well and find Sesshoumaru waiting for me; at least that is what it seemed like. He is requesting us to care for his human ward Rin. Inuyasha is not anywhere around here. Where are Sango and Miroku?”
“Kagome calm down now. Inuyasha is no longer welcome in this village. He has spoken harshly to a Miko Priestess for the last time. Ye and the rest are free to come and go. If Inuyasha is caught by another Priest or Priestess with purification powers to be treating another Miko harshly he is to be dealt with. Sango and Miroku took Kirara to look after young Shippo and Rin. Sesshoumaru was probably just waiting for his ward. And I do not understand why he would request any such thing.” Kaede said calmly.
Kagome tried to absorb the new information. Everything was swirling around in her mind. Inuyasha’s harsh treatment, Sango and Miroku helping her to leave; Kaede passing this decree about Inuyasha in an attempt to help. It all just swirled in her mind; it gave her a gigantic head ache. She couldn’t concentrate on anything, suddenly the door to the hut swung inward and Kagome was tackled by two bundles of what looked like flower bushes.
“Lady Kagome!”
“Mama!”
“Rin, Shippo how are you!? I missed you Shippo very much! And Rin it has been a long time since I saw you last.”
“Lady Kagome, Sesshoumaru-sama said I would be staying with you for a short time! Please Kagome, please say it is true! I really would like to stay and play with Shippo!” Rin yelled excitedly. She was nearly jumping up and down in Kagome’s lap with excitement.
“Yes Rin, it is true. Now calm down I don’t think my lap can take much more of that!” Kagome said over the excited chattering of the little girl. Kagome was laughing so hard that she hadn’t noticed Sango and Miroku had stopped in the doorway to watch the young woman with the two youngsters.
‘One day Kagome is going to make a great mother to children of her own.’ Sango thought to herself, a small half smile curving her lips. Glad to see her friend in better shape than when she had left.
Glancing up Kagome smiled at her two friends in the door. “So how much trouble has Inuyasha gotten into since the last time he visited my time?”
Grimacing at each other, Sango and Miroku looked at Kagome seriously.
“Kagome, we don’t know how to tell you this but Inuyasha has been off with Kikyo. Sesshoumaru has been nearby though. I suppose that is why fur hasn’t gone flying. We don’t know where Inuyasha is exactly.” Miroku told Kagome gently.
“It’s ok. I know he doesn’t want me. If he ever did, it was probably just because I looked like Kikyo.” Kagome said a false cheerfulness in her voice.
The group waited for Inuyasha to show up for a week. Three days after Kagome returned Sesshoumaru showed up to gather Rin. Four days later there came word to Kaede’s hut that Inuyasha had been spotted at the Tree of Ages in Inuyasha’s Forest. The group packed the next morning and met up with Inuyasha about two miles outside the village.
Kagome was deep in thought when she remembered she had picked up something for him while in her own time. It was meant as a piece offering nothing else. She would have to tread carefully; he hadn’t looked to happy to see her earlier.
“Hey Inuyasha, I just remembered something. I brought it back for you but forgot about it. Let me just-” Kagome called out looking through her pack. The group had just met up with Inuyasha and were heading north-east. Everyone was anxious and Kagome had been trying her best to make everyone more comfortable. Yet every time she tried to make Inuyasha happy he just clammed up and got irritable. She knew it was going to happen, she knew what was coming.
But on such a beautiful day how could he not be nicer? The sun was shining the path was highlighted through the tree tops with the sun’s rays. Birds were singing in the sky, butterflies were venturing closer to the group the quieter they got waiting for the explosion.
“What are you looking for you baka? Like I would want something from your time. Idiot!”
“But Inuyasha you liked them before and I brought them just for you.”
“Not interested let’s go. Naraku is out there and we are going to find him.”
“But Inuyasha,” Kagome said her eyes watering and pleading with him, for what not even she was sure.
“I said no Kagome! Why do you constantly press that crap in our faces? I know I am not the only one. I just speak it aloud. We Don’t Want That Stupid Shit! Get it through your head! Kikyo would never do this stupid shit! Why can’t you be more like Kikyo?!” Startled birds took to the sky from their nests and hunting grounds in the forest.
“You don’t want me anymore, do you Inuyasha? You want Kikyo instead. You don’t want me. Kikyo is more important. Well Inuyasha I am sorry I am not dead like Kikyo. Maybe if I was you would want me. But I can’t be what you want I won’t fake it. You are a Fucking HYPOCRITE INUYASHA! SIT BOY! SITSITSITSITSITSITSITSITSITSITSITSITSITSITSIT!!!” Tears streaming down her cheeks Kagome ran off into the forest.
“Geez that was the worst fight yet. The baka had it coming.”
“I agree Shippo but if he actually believes that we do not appreciate Kagome bringing things from her time for us he is really clueless.”
“For once monk you’re right. Kagome deserves much better than him. Why doesn’t she just give up on him? I think we need to go after her. Inuyasha said some pretty bad things. I’m worried.”
“Dearest Sango you are not the only one worried. Let’s go find ourselves a Kagome.”
“You make it sound like a hunt.”
“In a way it is. She could be anywhere.”
Setting off the trio ignored the yelling that came from the crater in the middle of the path. Slowly they made their way into the forest that Kagome had run into. Picking the way slowly they followed Kirara and Shippo who were trying to pick up her scent.
Kagome just kept running, with no destination in mind she just ran and ran. It was about the time that she couldn’t even push her legs another step that she gave up in a clearing. This clearing looked familiar to her but she couldn’t think of why so she gave up. Her heart was breaking she could feel it. It was rending her chest into pieces. She kept replaying the whole scene in her head. How her other three friends had just stood off to the left and watched, none of them saying anything. She felt betrayed. Maybe she should go home and not come back. That way Inuyasha could have his precious Kikyo.
Kagome had been sitting in the same spot all day. She hadn’t moved; the most she did was blink her eyes. If someone were to come across her they would think she was in a trance but really, she was fortifying her defenses around her heart. It was still to sore she needed a way to protect herself better than interior walls.
‘What would work? That’s the real question. Think Kagome think. There has to be something.’
Stiffening her spine Kagome stood and looked towards the west. She felt six auras in that direction. Four were her friends they were looking for her. They were a ways off yet. The fifth was Inuyasha still in his hole. But the sixth is the one she was worried about. It was a lot closer than the others and much more menacing. Well not so much menacing as just scary. Sesshoumaru never showed emotion. Unless Rin is put in danger. Other than that Sesshoumaru was the King of Ice.
‘That’s it! I will be just like him! I can do that!’
Kagome sat back down and put up a mental wall that was impregnable around her emotions and her heart. As she did this her usual bright sunny smile disappeared replaced with a disinterested sneer. She was ready when Sesshoumaru landed not far from where she sat.
“So wench where is Inuyasha?”
“If you would open your eyes while traveling you would have noticed he was on the path 3 miles from here to the west.”
“He was not there! Do you dare to argue with this Sesshoumaru?”
“If there was a point to argue I would argue it. But seeing as Inuyasha was back on the path to the west of here and you did not see him I must surmise that you my King of Ice are Blind. Did you look in the hole? If not I must surmise that it was not him you were looking for. What do you want Sesshoumaru?” Kagome asked the Taiyoukai calmly not even betraying her emotions through her eyes.
“Your impudence knows no bounds does it? This Sesshoumaru will teach you a lesson.” Sesshoumaru paused a second, “Why are you not showing emotion wench?”
“That Sir Ice is for me to know. And for you to never find out. If you want Inuyasha you better hurry he should be able to move soon.”
“Miko, you cannot run away from your problems by hiding behind a mask. You can not hope to be like this Sesshoumaru. You are ruled by your emotions. By this time tomorrow you will be back to yourself.”
“I would not count on that Sesshoumaru. Shall we make a bet? You bet that by tomorrow at this time I will be myself, I bet that until I find a man who knows how to not fake it I will be the Queen of Ice to your King.”
“Hnnn” Sesshoumaru turned and started to walk towards the sunset. “It is a deal then. But what will the winner get?”
“That will be decided tomorrow. Goodbye Sesshoumaru.”
Watching the great and mighty Taiyoukai of the west walk out of sight Kagome let out a breath of air that she hadn’t realized she had been holding. Sesshoumaru could be the undoing of her new mental walls. How had he known she was trying to be like him? Taking a few deep breaths Kagome calmed her heart rate before sliding the mask back into place and going to look for her so called friends.
“Miroku shouldn’t we have kept looking for Kagome? I mean I just know we were getting close. So what if Sesshoumaru showed up right ahead of us. We’ve dealt with him before. Kagome was in that direction I just know it.”
“Sango, my dear, we came back because Kagome was in no danger. I sensed nothing menacing in Sesshoumaru’s aura. Besides we had to come back and keep an eye on Inuyasha. She sat him very hard today and no one could fault her for it. We probably should have jumped in and defended her.”
Sitting off the path with a merry fire crackling, the four friends glared at the crater Inuyasha was still in. Sighing all four turned back to the food they were cooking. The smell coming from the fire was so good it made their mouths water. The meat Kagome had brought back along with the powdered seasonings such as onion, garlic, dried oregano, and parsley; made the meat tender and juicy. The trees were blowing softly in the wind. The crickets were singing their own melody, the moon was only a quarter full, and Kagome was just walking into camp from the dark forest.
“Get up Inuyasha. Stop trying to pretend you are still under the spell. I know you aren’t.”
“GRRRR what do you mean you bitch?” Inuyasha grumbled from the bottom of the hole. “How would you know what this is like!? I don’t see you at the bottom of this damn hole!”
“I am not playing with you Inuyasha get up.” Kagome said in a cold voice.
His interest perked by that tone he jumped up from the hole. “What is the matter with you? You’re all cold like that bastard brother of mine. What is going on Kagome? You aren’t still upset about that fight are you?”
Kagome just stared at him, ice flaring in her light blue eyes. “No Inuyasha I am not upset. You just need to stop pretending that you were brought so low by the Subjugation Beads. It isn’t even fitting for a dog like you.”
Inuyasha growled low in his throat, “So I am just a dog now am I? I thought you loved me. What’s with the insults and that cold look?”
“Miroku, Sango, Shippo and Kirara do you hate my gifts I bring back from my time? Or is it just Inuyasha?”
“Kagome we all love what you bring back. Miroku has been using that guide about females since you gave it to him, lord help us. Shippo and Kirara are always playing with the toys, and Kagome I love the things you give me.” Sango pleaded with her friend to show something worth mentioning as emotion.
“You see Inuyasha they like my gifts. I promise to not bring you anything else you have my word on that. Now then I am going to bathe. Sango make sure the dog and monk stay here. Shippo come with me.”
Turning to walk away Kagome grabbed her pack and headed towards the nearest hot spring with Shippo. She walked slowly allowing Shippo time to catch up with her. They made their way slowly to the spring neither one talking or making a sound the whole way. Shippo stared at Kagome afraid to ask what was going on with her. She seemed so cold. To everyone even Sango something was wrong.
“Shippo come on. We need to get away from camp.”
“What do you mean ‘get away from camp’? Momma where are we really going?”
“Away from Inuyasha. Sango and Miroku will catch up. They know that when I request to go alone with you to the hot springs and leave Sango there that it was time to separate from Inuyasha.” Kagome said in a low voice. “Don’t worry Shippo I will not leave you behind you are my kit. Inuyasha is a bad influence. Now we have a long way to go and must get there soon. Let’s go.”
Shippo looked doubtfully at Kagome. She had become almost a mother to him, and he liked that she thought of him as her kit but didn’t like how she had turned cold. It was like Inuyasha had ripped out all emotions from her heart. Looking at the ground Shippo followed Kagome knowing that whatever she did was what she believed was the best for him.
“Well Inuyasha looks like you have finally done it. You finally pushed her over the edge. That was a great move you Idgit. Why can’t you just stop trying her limits? I don’t think you can fix it. You screwed up get some sleep you will need it.” Miroku said agitated. Sango and Kirara were packing getting ready for the move and he was left to berate Inuyasha to keep his attention elsewhere.
“What are you doing monk? Giving me a talking to like an upset father. And what are Sango and Kirara doing? Why are they packing up? What is going on!?”
“Relax Inuyasha they are only getting a head start for tomorrow. We want to get an early start. Get some sleep we will talk tomorrow.”
“Feh! Fine. You and Sango get some sleep too.”
“We will Inuyasha. Good night.”
“So how did it go Miroku? Is he going to sleep?”
“Yes Sango. He is and soon we will be able to go. Where are we to meet up with Kagome? She just said that when she tells you to keep us here and she and Shippo were going to the springs that we are to split from Inuyasha. Did she tell you more?”
Sango looked thoughtful for a second then an idea came to her. “I think I know where she is going. Check Inuyasha make sure he is asleep I will get Kirara ready.”
Miroku stood and walked slowly and quietly towards the tree Inuyasha had chosen to sleep in that night. Using his holy powers Miroku made sure Inuyasha was in a deep sleep. Then he walked across the campsite. The fire was going out, the only sign that anyone had ever been there.
“Sango, let’s go. Where do you think Kagome is heading?”
“Didn’t you notice the direction she took off in?”
“She started heading west. That doesn’t mean she would continue going that direction. Does it?”
“Think about it. Who is the one person Inuyasha would not search for? Inuyasha is not going to interfere with his Brother’s land. He may be an Idgit but he is not that stupid.”
“Yes but this is Kagome. His ‘shard detector’ that will be there. He may very well look for her there anyway.”
They were flying low over the treetops. They had not gone far to the west when they spotted Kagome and Shippo walking slowly on the forest floor. Sango told Kirara to land softly a little ways ahead of the two.
Kagome turned to Shippo and paused in her walking.
“Shippo now you get to choose. Sango, Miroku and Kirara are up ahead. If you wish to go back to Inuyasha you just follow your mushroom trail back. If you wish to go with us you stop dropping them. Now my kit, my little kit, choose. I will not take you with me if you continue dropping the mushrooms. I want you with me. Shippo you must make a choice. I leave it up to you.”
Shippo paused to think over the situation. If he wanted to stay with Kagome he couldn’t lead Inuyasha to her. If he wanted to go back to Inuyasha he just had to turn around. He didn’t want to leave Kagome. He really didn’t like the baka Inuyasha all that much. This decision shouldn’t be too hard. But it was; however much he didn’t like Inuyasha Kagome really did love him. Maybe he had finally pushed Kagome away.
“Kagome-sama I want to go with you. Let’s get away from here before that baka wakes up.”
Nodding Kagome turned around and continued walking. They passed bushes of Night Jasmine and Shippo picked three blooms. One for Kagome, one for Sango, and one for Kirara. Running to catch up with Kagome they soon came to the clearing where Sango and Miroku were waiting with packs of their own.
“So Kagome where are we going? I noticed you were heading west. On foot Inuyasha would catch up with you on Kirara he would lose the trail right here.”
“I knew you two would show up soon. I just hadn’t expected it this soon. How did you guys get Inuyasha so deep in sleep so quickly?”
“Well that was actually me. While Sango and Kirara packed I gave Inuyasha a talking to. Then when he asked what she was doing I simply said that we wanted to get an early start and he had best get some sleep.”
“Well Miroku, Sango, Kirara are you ready to go? Shippo drop the whole load of your mushrooms right here please. I do not want Inuyasha to get any further in his search. If he wants a ‘shard detector’ then he can find Kikyo.” Kagome said in a low voice. Her face and voice void of any emotion.
Inuyasha woke up late the next morning feeling groggy and not knowing why. He jumped from the tree ready to get onto the monk’s ass for not waking him up. When he started to look around he noticed that the camp had been deserted late last night. Kagome and Shippo had never been back and from the scent Miroku and Sango had taken off with Kirara shortly after he had fallen asleep. He quickly sniffed the area and picked up Kagome’s scent heading west out of camp. Smirking he took off and soon came upon Shippo’s Distress Mushrooms. Thinking something had happened to them he hurried after the trail.
Coming to a clearing after several feet of no mushrooms Inuyasha finds a whole pile of the little wailing mushrooms and he also finds that Miroku and Sango had met up with Kagome here. And here is where the trail ends.
‘Feh, they must have taken to the sky. And from here they could have gone in any direction. Damn you Kagome!’
“DAMN YOU TO HELL KAGOOOOMMMEEEE!”
