Hugs and Kisses as Your Pregnant Mate Runs into...
A/N: Might be getting a little distracted fairly soon with my full-time job, my full-time class load [even in summer; I’m such a loser I amaze even myself], my impending divorce, and the fiction project I will be diving into fairly soon. This one I hope to publish soon after it is completed, and it will be a fiction novel titled “The Elemental.” It will be about an unlikely pair coming together to save humanity: human graphic novel artist Noah and Erin, a woman as old as the Earth itself. Erin is one of a group of people called Immortals, and she’s a special one, connected to Mother Earth herself, called an Elemental. In the Immortals’ religion, she is basically the goddess of water and air. Still working on the plot, but the characters have been developed. And if someone else comes out with that book after I’ve put this on here, I will hunt you down and kill you.
So there. Consider yourself warned. Hands off my idea.
Anyway. Let’s start.

Chapter Three: Hugs and Kisses as Your Pregnant Mate Runs into a Trap.
Sango and Miroku grumbled a little, looking at Kagome’s large belly. The Miko had her hands on her hips and was glaring at them. “Seriously,” she told the pair. “If you two skip out on this trip with Inuyasha, I will be so pissed. He needs to get away for a while, and he needs some company. I’m too near my due date to go with him, so I’m recruiting you two.” She smiled sweetly, to no avail.
“I’m just gonna be too worried about you to care about relaxing or anything else,” Sango told her best friend. “I’ll be too worried about you to even worry about Miroku’s wandering hands!” She and Kagome groaned at the perverted smile making its way to Miroku’s lips. Sango smacked him. In the bedroom he shared with Kagome, Inuyasha shook his head when he heard the slapping sound echo into his room. ‘She must’ve hit him pretty hard for me to hear it all the way up here,’ he thought, ‘even with my super hearing.’
Kagome rolled her eyes as Sango continued, “I’m not kidding here, Kags! I’m gonna come home molested!”
Kagome shoved her index finger in the monk’s face right then. “Monk, I swear, if you touch Sango during this trip, I will cut off your most important leg,” she threatened him in a low tone. He gulped and nodded, intimidated. She brightened then and smiled at Sango. “See? All fixed. Now go pack!” She shoved them toward their separate rooms, which were on the other side of the shrine, and the 8-month-pregnant woman turned and waddled up the stairs. She found Inuyasha, still slowly packing. “Are you still stalling, babe?” she asked him, walking into the room. She held her belly as she leaned, trying to sit on the bed. Her mate had to help her.
The goddess groaned, her eyes flashing their true blue color. She growled at Inuyasha a little, throwing her hands in the air as he continued to pack. “I can’t wait to get this boy out of me! This is really annoying, having so much difficulty moving and walking and sitting! And when he moves around in there, it feels weird!” Her voice came off sounding whiny, and Inuyasha looked over to see her eyes glistening with tears. He chuckled a little and muttered, “Feh,” as he reached over and hugged her. She’d been like this for a few months, hormonal and emotional. Honestly, he thought it was kind of cute.
“I just don’t like the idea of going away from you,” he told her quietly. “It’s so close to when the baby’ll be born…”
She looked up at him. ‘No more tears,’ he thought with a smile. “You need time to yourself,” she told him. “You can’t be expected to watch over me all the time. And Sango and Miroku need to get out of the shrine too. At least, as a commercial photographer, I get to go out to a professional studio or the newspaper office once a day. Moriko goes to the University.” Her daughter was studying medicine, even though she already knew everything about the history of medicine. Kagome placed her hands on her husband’s chest, relishing the feel of his broad muscles beneath his red t-shirt. “You and the others need to get out for a while. No one can hurt me in Kami form, and I have Moriko as back-up. If the baby comes early, we’ll call you on the way to the hospital, and you three can hop a plane back.”
Inuyasha growled. “I’d feel better if Shippo were here to watch over you two girls.”
She nodded. “But, honey, he needed to go do that internship in Kyoto. You know my mom and Souta will tell him when the baby’s born, and he’ll come running to see his new little brother.” ‘And Moriko,’ she thought with a small smile, but her husband didn’t know about their relationship yet. She figured he would hit the roof when he found out, but she didn’t mind. As long as her two kids were happy, she didn’t care, and Shippo technically wasn’t Moriko’s brother, as he was adopted. They could date in Kagome’s eyes.
Her mate seemed to relax a little at her words. He sighed. “All right. I’m done.” He left the room after helping Kagome to her feet and called for Miroku and Sango. Within the hour, the three friends had left to catch their plane to Thailand for a well-needed week of R&R.

Kagome knew something bad was about to happen, so she changed into her Kami form. She knew that Moriko was right behind her for back-up. “Mom,” the half-goddess whispered. “Mom! What the hell are we doing here?”
Kagome stopped and glared at her daughter. “Watch your language,” she snapped at her. “You’re still my child.”
Moriko rolled her eyes as soon as her mother’s back was turned. “Seriously, Mom. Why are we here?”
“You mean why are we here NOW?” Kagome replied with a smirk.
Moriko made a face. “Ugh. No wonder I felt sick. We went back, didn’t we?” Kagome nodded. “You’ll get used to the motion sickness,” she told her daughter. “Anyway, we’re back in the feudal era. I got a twinge from this area in this time.” Moriko nodded, knowing what she meant. They both felt the small prickle when something went haywire in history, and that always meant one or both of them had to jump in the well to go fix it.
Suddenly, there was a rustling noise behind them. They whirled around to find the tall and dangerous Sesshomaru standing behind them. Moriko nearly swooned at the sight of him, but Kagome gave her look. The goddess looked at Sesshomaru. “What do you want, Inu Lord?” she asked him. He gave her long, blank look, his trademark arrogance evident in it.
“I knew that if I changed a little history somewhere, you would come running, spirit of time,” he told her. “So I did. And now you’re here.”
“Wow,” Kagome exclaimed sarcastically. “You brought me here to show me how much you’ve improved on your ability to state the obvious.” She gave him an exaggerated thumbs-up accompanied with a nod. “Nice job.” She turned and took Moriko’s arm, preparing to leave.
“You won’t be going anywhere.”
Suddenly, Moriko was yanked away, disappearing into the dark forest with a yelp. Silence ensued as Kagome could only stare into the blackness around her, searching for her daughter. She grunted, frustrated. “Damn pregnancy!” she mumbled. “Why did I ever create it!”
“Possibly because you never expected to become pregnant yourself,” Sesshomaru said from behind her. She turned and glared at the youkai, who only watched her with the same blank stare. “You’re an asshole,” she shot at him. “Now bring me back my daughter.”
Sesshomaru tilted his head, his golden eyes still burning holes in her. “She is your daughter?” he asked. Kagome blinked. “Yea,” she answered. “Now bring her back!” She stomped her foot on the ground angrily to emphasize her point.
The demon walked toward her. She took a step back, but, in her current, extremely pregnant condition, she couldn’t move away fast enough. He grabbed hold of her, swinging a cold, stone necklace around her throat. She gulped when she felt her body automatically numb itself; she knew she was in her human-like form now. She was vulnerable. Kagome shivered when she felt Sesshomaru’s hot breath on her ear: “I had nothing to do with taking your daughter. That was Naraku’s doing.”
Kagome’s eyes widened, and she struggled against her brother-in-law. He held her tight, though; in her human form, all of her strength was gone, and she had very little range of motion due to her giant belly. She grunted and growled and tried to slip from his hands, but he just tightened his grip, digging his claws into the muscle of her forearm. She cried out in pain and saw blood running down her arm.
“Kagome!”
Sesshomaru was knocked away from her by an unseen force, but the goddess recognized that voice anywhere. She could barely see his silver hair flying behind him, his golden eyes flashing as he shoved his older brother away. She gawked at the red robes he wore. ‘Oh, no,’ she thought. ‘His younger self saved me.’
When Sesshomaru left, strange necklace in hand and disappointment evident on his arrogant face, younger Inuyasha turned and looked at Kagome. “I thought you were -” He stopped short when he saw her enormous belly sticking out at him. “Wow,” he whispered. His eyes came up to meet hers, which were blue once more. Without Moriko by her side, she was too afraid to leave herself in human form.
She rolled her eyes. “Inuyasha, don’t worry about it. I’m from farther into the future than your Kagome’s future, and I stumbled here on accident with my daughter, Moriko. She got snatched by Naraku just now, when Sesshomaru had me distracted. Please. You’ve gotta help me save her.”
He snapped out of the trance her pregnancy had him. Inuyasha nodded. “Sure, okay,” was all he said, and he bent down. She hesitated, then started to climb on to his back, just like old times. He grunted under the new weight of both Kagome and an unborn baby, but he managed it. “All right then,” he said. “Let’s get going.” He shot off into the darkness, careful with pregnant Kagome.
