Broken

Chapter three: Broken

He didn’t have time to tell Inuyasha. That and he didn’t want to listen to his insane rambling about how it was his fault that Kagome was gone. Sesshomaru already knew it was his fault that the Miko was gone. If only he had his demonic powers back. But there was no use pinning over the fact that he was powerless. He did not love the miko, but he cared enough to try and save her. Even if he did love her (Which he didn’t) she would never return it. After all, Kagome was in love with Inuyasha. He was sure they were mated by this time.

He ran as fast as his human legs would allow. The yokai was a crow yokai named Tenshi. He was proud, but ignorant. Tenshi challenged Sesshomaru at one point, but lost. He left the yokai alive, telling him that if they crossed paths again, Sesshomaru would definitely take his life. He maybe a human, but he was still Sesshomaru, and he never let anyone walk away alive twice.

**

Kagome cursed under her breath as she was chained to the wall. The yokai made sure to gag her, and chained her up spread eagle to his viewing pleasures. It embarrassed her, and made her wish that he would just combust.

The yokai looked at her and laughed. “My name is Tenshi. And you miko, will be my dinner.” He walked back to her and ran his clawed fingers up her thighs. “Though, I’m well known for playing with my food before I eat it. And from your smell, you’re still pure.” He tisked softly. “I guess I’m going to have to change that.”

Kagome’s eye’s widened as she began to struggle. He planed on raping her! Instantly she began to scream against the gag, trying to summon her miko powers to save her.

Tenshi laughed. “Struggle all you want miko, but no one will save you. Not even your powers. We’re high in the mountains in a hidden area. Not even a wolf could find us. You’re all alone in this.”

Kagome shook her head, her screams going to deft ears. Tears ran down her face, hoping that help would come. Yet the only name that escaped her mind was Sesshomaru’s.

**

He cursed this body. If he was a yokai again, he could easily scale the mountain and save Kagome. Instead he had to climb it. Sesshomaru realized that telling his idiotic half brother about this would have actually been a smart idea. But instead he was climbing a mountain for a human girl who didn’t even belong to him. If it were Rin, he would understand. But for Kagome, who wasn’t even his ward, it just seemed foolish. Or at least that’s what he was trying to tell himself. It was his fault she got captured. It was just beneath him to just ignore it.

Reaching out to grab the next rock, Sesshomaru realized it wasn’t another rock he grabbed, but a ledge. Hosting himself up, he found himself at the mouth of a cave. “Show yourself Tenshi.” Sesshomaru growled his hand on his sword once more.

The crow laughed as he saw Sesshomaru at the mouth of the cave. “I’m surprised that you could climb up here human. Most would have died half way up. But tell me, how do you know my name?”

“That is not important. Give me back the miko you stole from me.”

The crow laughed once more. “You can have her back. After all, I’ve had my way with her. Trust me, she’s quite a treat.” Tenshi moved from his spot to show Kagome lying on the floor. Her clothes were tattered, and she looked like a mess. Her body trembled a whimpering sound escaping her lips.

Seeing the scene before him, Sesshomaru felt something he never felt before. A painful feeling stabbed at his heart and anger swept into his body. “You will die.” He growled. Power pulsated though his veins, as the urge to kill was all too familiar.

Tenshi took a step back. The man before his every eyes, began to change. His black hair bleed to silver, his eyes glowing red. Fangs, claws, everything. “Sesshomaru…” He whispered. “Sesshomaru of the western lands… How could this be?”

Sesshomaru looked down at his claws, a smile reaching his lips. “It seems like my power has returned to me.” He said, his voice low and dangerous. “Did I not tell you Tenshi. If you ever crossed my path gain, I would kill you. You should have headed my warning. Instead you took what was mine.” His beast growled out, begging Sesshomaru to sink his fangs into the crow’s neck. “For that, there will be no mercy.”

He moved quicker then lightning, his left hand grabbing the yokai by the neck and slamming him against the wall. His right hand came up, poison dripping from his claws.

“Please Sesshomaru-sama!” Tenshi cried. “I did not know that the human was you! If I did, I wouldn’t have touched her I swear it! I won’t make that mistake again!”

“Your right,” The Taiyokai smiled. “You wont make that mistake ever again.” His sharp claw ripped the crow’s neck open, seeping poison into the wound. Sesshomaru watched as he screamed out in pain and melted before his very eyes. “Pathetic…”

He turned to Kagome, who by this time passed out. “I’m sorry…” He whispered softly, knowing she couldn’t hear him. He picked her fragile form off the ground and easily climbed down the mountain. As he took one final leap, his strength gave out on him and the two tumbled down the side. Cursing, Sesshomaru used his body to shield them from the impact.

He opened his eyes only to realize, once more, his curse was upon him. “Why?” He cried out, looking at his human hands. “Why have I returned to this form again?!”

Kagome’s eye’s slowly opened, and when the first thing she saw was black, she screamed out and thrashed at whoever it was.

That was all he needed now, another headache. Sesshomaru grabbed her arms and forced the girl to look at him. “Its me.” He snapped. Oh how he was started to fear he was beginning to act like Inuyasha. “Calm down Kagome. Its me, Sesshomaru.”

Seeing that it wasn’t Tenshi, Kagome slowly calmed. “I… need to see Inuyasha…” She whispered, tears running down her face.

Sesshomaru sighed and nodded. He knew she would want to see her friends after what happened. He heard things like this happening before. And the best way to comfort one’s soul was to find warmth in the arms of your friends. He picked her up with ease and began for camp.

**

Sango fidgeted as she waited for Kagome and Sesshomaru to return. The sun had already risen and they still didn’t come back yet.

“I know Inuyasha said they would be back, but I’m still worried about them.” Sango said for the tenth time. “Miroku, what if something happened to them?”

Miroku sighed, looking one way where Kagome and Sesshomaru disappeared off to, and then to the other side where Inuyasha ran off, whispering Kikyo’s name. “Let’s hope Inuyasha gets back before Kagome does.”

Sango bit her lip. “True. I don’t think she can handle it if she found out where Inuyasha ran off to this morning.

“Guys! There’s back!” Shippo cried out.

Sango and Miroku quickly turned to great the two, but instead were met with a sight they didn’t think they would ever see.

Kagome was curled up in Sesshomaru’s arms, her clothing still torn up. She wore Sesshomaru’s Hakuma top, while the man was completely shirtless. Tears continued to run down her cheeks, and she staggered when he placed her down so she could walk on her own feet.

“Kagome!” Sango yelled, running to her friend. Seeing the state Kagome was, she turned her angry eyes at the once Taiyokai. “You bastard! What did you do to Kagome!”

“Look again slayer.” Sesshomaru commented. He wasn’t happy to hear that she would accuse him first of doing such a dead to the girl. “I no longer possess claws to do such damage to her.”

Miroku noticed what he was talking about and nodded. “Then who did?”

“Where’s Inuyasha?” Kagome whispered. “I want to see him.”

Sango and Miroku instantly looked away. “Kagome…” Sango whispered. “Inuyasha… he…”

“He left into the woods to see Kikyo.” Miroku said, pointing behind him. He didn’t want to hurt the girl even more, but she had to know where he was.

Kagome’s eyes went wide as she began to take a step in his direction. It couldn’t be true. Why would he go to her? He swore to her that he would never go to Kikyo ever again. Slowly, step by step she disappeared once more into the woods.

Sesshomaru’s eyes narrowed as she glared at the monk. “Explain.” He snapped.

“No Sesshomaru, first you explain. What happened to Kagome when you two disappeared? Why is she like that?” Miroku snapped back at him.

“This Sesshomaru does not have to explain himself to you.”

“Then I won’t tell you what’s going on either.”

Both men crossed their arms and glared at each other.

“Stop fighting you two!” Sango yelled at them. “Look Sesshomaru, we’re just worried about our friend. It would help us greatly if you just told us what happened.”

The man sighed and uncrossed his arms. As quickly as he could, he explained the situation. The two listened carefully, taking in everything he said. Finally he finished the story.

Sango gave a small nod. “It’s a theory, but Kagome might be the key to break your curse.”

“I don’t care about the curse right now slayer. Just explain to me what is going on with Inuyasha.” He snapped.

Miroku gave a small nod. “Kikyo is Inuyasha’s old lover. Kagome happens to be Kikyo’s reincarnation. There has been many times when Inuyasha left to see Kikyo. And each time, its hurt Kagome greatly.”

“Then why did you let her go?!” Sesshomaru snapped, running off to find Kagome.

Sango shook her head. “I’m not happy at what happened, but with everything that’s happened, do you think Sesshomaru’s aware that he’s falling in love with Kagome?” She asked the monk.

Miroku shrugged. “Only time will tell.”

**

Kagome continued to trudge though the forest, not caring that she continued to trip and stumble. Her body ached, her mind ached, and her heart was in pain. There was no way he was with Kikyo. He told her that he was in love with her, not Kikyo. And yet, how could he have run off with the dead miko when Kagome needed him the most? He wasn’t the one to save her from the crow. Inuyasha didn’t save her from being violated from the yokai. No, it was Sesshomaru. He was only a human who had a sword that couldn’t kill, and he saved her from her fate. Sure, she got beaten, violated, but not rapped…

~ flashback ~

Kagome continued to thrash and scream ash Tenshi ran his hands up and down her body. His dark eyes continued to stare into her face, his waist length hair tied back.

‘Don’t worry miko,” He purred. “I don’t rape human women. They don’t satisfy me as much.” He took out a feather, its razor sharp end gleaming in the firelight. “when I say I’m going to make sure your not pure, well… you’ll see.” With a flick of his wrist, he shred some of her clothes, wounds already marking her body. A smirk lined his lips as he continued to cut her body even more. His laughter echoed in the cave, and her screamed followed afterwards.

“Are we having fun yet?” He purred in her ear. “Now, lets get rid of that purity of yours.” He ripped another feather out of his wing. “You see, as a powerful miko, you could be a threat to me in the future. So instead of getting rid of you, I’m going to destroy what makes you special.” He took the feather in hand, and slammed into her body.

Kagome’s scream’s echoed as searing pain pierced her body. White flashes continued before her eyes as her body absorbed the feather into her being. Her heart felt as if it was being squeezed and her body was on fire. Finally the pain stopped, small tremors were left in its wake.

“What did you do to me…?” she whispered softly, her voice horse from screaming.

Tenshi smirked. “I took away your purity. Your miko powers are gone, your ability to give offspring no longer exist. You are just a normal human being now. With my feather imbedded deep into your body, you will never go back to the way you used to.” His laugh seemed to follow her into her dreams.

~ end Flashback ~

“Inuyasha, you shouldn’t be here…”

Kagome stiffened from hearing Kikyo’s voice. Turning slowly, she could see the two in the clearing.

Inuyasha grabbed Kikyo and held her close to his body. “Then why do you come to me Kikyo? You know I love you more then anything.”

Kikyo smiled as she embraced him back. “I love you too Inuyasha. But if you wish to see me again and again, you need to make it less obvious to your friends. You also need to tell my reincarnation that you love her so much as well.”

Inuyasha sighed. “I told her I love her, but I just can’t stop thinking about you. She’s nothing more then a copy to me. Someone to help me look for shards. You, Kikyo, are the only girl for me.”

Kagome clutched at her chest. He was right, she was nothing more then a copy. But that didn’t mean she didn’t have feelings. Her world was crashing down on her, and already she felt like she was going to break.

“Then why did you tell her you loved her Inuyasha?” Kikyo asked him.

“Because if I told her that, then she would do whatever I told her to do.”

That was enough. He opened her mouth to say something else, instead a hand covered her mouth.

“That’s enough Inuyasha.” Sesshomaru snapped.

Inuyasha and Kikyo broke apart, the look of surprise on both their faces. Sesshomaru only caught the tail end of the conversation, but it was enough. The distress on Kagome was enough on her. Watching and seeing the two would only break her even more. Already he just wanted to protect her from everything and everyone who wanted to hurt her. Inuyasha happened to be one of those things.

“Sesshomaru!” Inuyasha yelled. “What are you doing here with Kagome?”

His eyes narrowed. “Where were you when Kagome got kidnapped?” He snapped again. “Where were you when she was raped? And tell me Inuyasha, where were you when she needed you the most? With a miko who is nothing more then clay and grave yard soil. I’ve said it many times, you were born arrogant, live an arrogant life, and one day you will die an arrogant fool!”

Kagome looked up at the man, surprise written all over her face. Why was he protecting her like this? And she never said she got raped. Sure she wanted to find comfort in Inuyasha’s arms, but she should have known that he didn’t want her…

“What did you say you bastard?!” Inuyasha yelled, unsheathing his sword. “I dare you to say that to my face!”

Sesshomaru let Kagome go and took steps to the hanyuu. “You are nothing but a fool. She is not a copy, but a human being that cares and loves you. Being the leader of your pack, you will always put them ahead of yourself. When one goes missing, you are to be there to protect them. Not off with some other woman. You place our father’s name to shame!” His voice rose, his eyes began to bleed gold. “I hate knowing that the great Inutaisho’s blood runs in your veins you filthy half breed!” His fist slammed into Inuyasha’s face, knocking him into a tree. “You will never be half the demon that our father was.” He then turned around and walked back to Kagome.

“Lets go Kagome. Sense Inuyasha is incapable of leading this pack, I will have to take over for him.”

Kagome bit her lip and nodded. For a moment, she could have sworn that Sesshomaru turned back into his regular self.

“Bastard…” Inuyasha growled. “I’ll get you back for this…”

Sesshomaru turned his angry eyes back at Inuyasha. “Lower dogs should listen before they get beaten down again.” With that he grabbed Kagome and headed away and back to camp.
