A day out in the town
A/n: wow... I just cant seem to stop typing this story. Soon I'm going to finish it without meaning to... Anywys, thank you for what reveiws I have. I would like to know more about what some people think about this story. Its probably one of my best fanfics out there. *sweat drops* anyways, here's another chapter. And soon I'll have another written up before the end of the night. Or at least lets hope.
Chapter three: a day out in the town.
If it wasn’t for the fact that Sesshomaru was a power demon lord and would probably kill her for drooling all over him, Kagome would have to say that the inuyokai was the hottest thing that god had ever created. In his white kimono, he looked menacing, and even deadly. Now he wore jeans, and a button down blue shirt. The top button was undone, and the sleeves were rolled up partially. His long silver hair was tied up in the back, which showed even more sex appeal in Kagome’s mind. There was no way to hide his face markings or his wrist markings at all. She could always say that they were tattoos. But the ears were tricky. But then again, there were people who went all out and got their tongue split. So why not say he got surgery to get his ear’s pointed like that?
Checking her purse once more to make sure that she had everything, she turned and smiled at her mother. “I’m going to take Sesshomaru though the city and go shopping. I’ll show him around and get him more outfits. We’re just lucky that you kept some of dad’s old stuff.”
Her mother smiled warming. “You two be careful now. And don’t get in trouble while your out.”
Sesshomaru tugged at the clothing once more. It was tight and uncomfortable. He would rather wear his kimono, but the girl had told him that they would get stares all over town. He also missed the heavy weight of his swords. But once more, Kagome told him that if he ran around with his swords, they would get arrested and they would take them away. And before he could say anything else, she interrupted him and told him that he wasn’t allowed to kill anyone. Once more, he was hating this world.
Following Kagome down the shrine stairs, Sesshomaru was thrown into another part of her world. Humans walked around on the hard street that didn’t seem to be made out of pebbles and these…things were going back and forth the street. The air smelt worse, and the noise was much louder. For a moment, he lost his mask and both astonish, fear, and wonder crossed his face. Hearing the girl giggle next to him, Sesshomaru tossed a glare at her. “Explain this to Sesshomaru.” He practically demanded.
Kagome giggled again. It was like bringing Inuyasha here again. “Those things driving by are called cars. They transport people to other parts of the city. Right now we’re walking on the sidewalk. Cars can’t drive on sidewalks. Follow me Sesshomaru-sama, there’s other things here.”
“Why does the air smell so bad?” Sesshomaru continued to question.
“It’s because of the pollution in the air. I guess when you’ve been in the past; the air is much cleaner then here. Anyway, let’s get you some new clothes.”
Sesshomaru’s mask was once back on. He was scared of what he didn’t understand, and already he was longing for home. But he wouldn’t show it, nor will he ever show that slight bit of fear again. Fear was weakness, and he didn’t show weakness.
**
It had been an hour sense they went shopping. Already they bought at least ten different outfits for the yokai, and every shopping center they went to, Sesshomaru would ask questions, Kagome would answer and try to help him understand more about it. Every store they went to, girls stared at Sesshomaru like he was the object of their desires. Once more, Kagome had to giggle.
“Kagome-chan!” A girl called out.
Kagome turned around and smiled brightly when she saw her three best friends run up to her. “Eri! Ayumi! Yuka!” She called back happily. “Hey, what are you guys up to?”
Already the three girls caught sight of Sesshomaru, their mouths dropped. The girl had to laugh at their expressions. “Guys, this is Sesshomaru-sama. Sesshomaru-sama, this is my three best friends Eri, Ayumi, and Yuka. They go to school with me.”
The yokai only gave a small nod. He thought that the slayer and the monk were her good friends, but it seems like he was mistaken.
The three girls looked at Sesshomaru, then at Kagome, before grabbing the girl and dragging her off what seemed like a good distance so that Sesshomaru couldn’t hear.
“What ever happened to your cheating boyfriend Kagome?” Eri demanded.
“Isn’t that guy the evil older brother that you told us about?” Commented Yuka
“He’s very hot Kagome.” Ayumi said sweetly.
Kagome tensed up. She knew that Sesshomaru could hear them while they talked. But then again, the three wouldn’t let her go if she didn’t answer them. “I left Inuyasha.” She said simply. “He wanted to be with the other girl, so I just left him. Sesshomaru-sama is just visiting for a bit. He came and helped out at the shrine. He’s really not that bad of a guy.”
The three watched Kagome intently before Yuka sighed. “Well, if you cant get the younger brother, then you go for the older. Though I don’t blame you. He is a looker.”
Kagome’s face turned a bright red. “I don’t think Sesshomaru likes me very much…” She said, forgetting that he could still hear her. “My heart got broken with Inuyasha. I don’t think I could fall in love again. Not after what happened…”
Ayumi wrapped her arms around her best friend. “Its okay Kagome-chan. Inuyasha wasn’t a very good boyfriend to begin with. And now that you don’t have to deal with him anymore, you can relax and go on with your life. After all, he was just one guy.”
Kagome looked up at her friend and smiled warmly. ‘Thanks guys.” She wiped away her tears and looked back at Sesshomaru, who unfortunately was being bothered by another female. “Well, I have to get going alright? I’ll be at school tomorrow. Promise.” Giving hugs to all three of them, Kagome ran back to the yokai, who shook off the one woman.
“Lets get going home Sesshomaru-sama.” Kagome said, smiling brightly. “I think you’ve seen enough of the town to understand at least some of it.”
Sesshomaru didn’t say anything to that. Instead he followed the girl back to the shrine, still holding all the bags. He heard every word that Kagome had said. Even though she tired to hide her tears, he could still smell them off of her. Its not like he hated the girl. He despised his incompetent half brother, but had nothing against her, the monk, or the slayer. After all, Kagome risked her life a couple times to save Rin. Kagome was an interesting human anyway’s. She didn’t fear him like some humans, but seemed to respect him. The only problem she had with him was when he would try to kill Inuyasha. But it was more of anger then fear. But when he would come to them for some reason, she would be the voice of reason and help him out. Even if he didn’t ask for it. At least he was stuck in this world with her and not Inuyasha. Though he would never tell her that.
**
“What do you mean enroll Sesshomaru into school?!” Kagome cried out. Her mother suggested the idea, and Kagome didn’t know if it was a good idea at all.
“Well Kagome, Sesshomaru-sama needs to know more abut our world if he’s going to be living in it. If he can read and write, then I’m sure he can go to school. On top of that he looks like a high school student. So we’ll pass him off for that. We’ll give him a last name and all. He just has to keep it a secret that he’s a demon and everything should be alright.” Her mother said happily. “What do you think Sesshomaru-sama?”
The Taiyokai didn’t like the idea at all. To be surrounded by humans and taught by them seemed lower then himself. “This Sesshomaru will think about it.” He said finally.
“Mom, he’s only been here for a day. I mean, we should have to come up with a whole background story for him, false birth records and everything. This seems almost impossible!”
Her mother gave Kagome a stern look. “Kagome, you’re already behind in school, and you can’t teach him everything. Neither can your grandfather and I. Eventually you both will have to get jobs and lead your own lives.”
Kagome sat back down and bit her lip. Her mother was telling the truth. Even though Kagome was sixteen by this point, she needed to start thinking about her future. She always thought that she would end up living with Inuyasha in the feudal era for the rest of her life. But Inuyasha was still there with Kikiyo instead. And now she was in her time with Inuyasha’s brother. Something she didn’t expect at all. Kagome would have to pick up her life where she last left it, and Sesshomaru would have to start anew. She glanced at the dog demon, who was currently eating dinner, and sighed. Sesshomaru told her that it wasn’t her fault that he was stuck here, but she still blamed herself for it.
“I’m going to my room…” Kagome said with a sigh. She stood up and left the room without another word, but worried glances followed her as she left.
Sesshomaru had to admit that the food was good, but his attention was more towards Kagome. He could tell that she was upset over the fact she was stuck with him. And he could only guess it was because he was not his brother.
“Excuse me as well.” Sesshomaru said, standing up. Before he could follow Kagome’s scent to her room, her little brother grabbed the yokai’s arm.
“Are you really Inuyasha’s older brother?” Shota asked him.
“Unfortunately.” The demon answered.
Shota looked down. “I see you guys aren’t that close. That’s a shame really. I mean, Inuyasha’s a great guy. He rescued Kagome a couple times while he visited here. And he saved me too. Do you know what happened between Kagome and him though? She won’t talk about it and she gets really upset.”
Sesshomaru tugged his arm away from the boy. Honestly he didn’t care about what Inuyasha did while he was here. But what he was concerned about is that she kept getting upset. And thinking about it, it angered him. He turned quickly and headed off to where Kagome’s scent was the strongest. He would get to the bottom of her worries.
**
Kagome sat in her room, reading a book and blaring Ayumi Hamasaki in her ears. She needed to get her mind off of things and try to relax. Try being the key word. That was when her door slammed open. Looking up, she saw Sesshomaru standing in her doorway, his hard as a rock mask on.
“What’s up Sesshomaru?” She asked in confusion.
“Why do you keep thinking about that hanyuu?” The demon demanded.
Kagome blinked, confused. “Excuse me?”
“I will not repeat myself women. I may not be that incompetent half-breed, but I am stuck here with you. I’m not Inuyasha, nor will I ever be him.”
Kagome blinked once more till it finally hit her what Sesshomaru was ranting about. He was jealous! He thought that she regretted having him here instead of Inuyasha. “It’s not that Sesshomaru.” Kagome chuckled. She motioned for the yokai lord to sit on her bed. When he did, she turned her chair around and took a deep breath.
“I’ll admit that I’m sad about Inuyasha and Kikiyo being together, but its something I couldn’t help. After all, I did love him. I felt used and like I meant nothing to him. But I guess I had it coming. After all, he loved her first. And I don’t think he ever loved me. Or ever will for that matter. But right now Its just that your some all and powerful demon lord, stuck here in my time. And even though you told me that it’s not my fault, I still feel like it is. Your now stuck with humans, and you can’t get back to Jaken or Rin. And I feel responsible for that. I don’t regret having you here with me. And I certainly don’t wish Inuyasha were here instead of you. Actually, your company is lots better then his. All he would do is bitch and complain about it.”
Kagome smiled and offered her hand to Sesshomaru’s. “So, lets put the past behind us and just be friends now alright? I’ll help you get though all of this. And you don’t have to do anything in return. The only thing I ask is that you try and get alone with everyone. And smile every once in a while. You don’t have to pretend like the whole world is against you. Because trust me, the only people who is against you is going to be teachers and grades.”
Sesshomaru looked down at Kagome’s hand and grasped it with his own. “I don’t say this often, but I’ll trust you Kagome.” He said before letting her go and beginning to walk out. “I’m turning in for the night. I shall see you in the morning. Maybe then you can tell me more about this school.”
Kagome smiled. “I look forward to it.”
