The next day came quickly for all. Miroku and Sango sat at their usual picnic table awaiting for their long missed friend to make her appearance. They were excitedly talking about her entrance the previous day in Myoga’s classroom. As was the whole school. They sat and waited, and when Kagome finally showed up they were all floored. The baggy girl from yesterday was replaced with a stunning beauty. Her long hair had slights waves running throughout it, softening her face. She wore tight jeans, and a black tank top. Over the tank top was a fish net shirt which hung slightly off her shoulders. The sleeves came to her hands and a hole allowed for her middle finger to poke through each sleeve. High heels topped it all off. Before them stood one of the most gorgeous creatures that they had ever seen. And Miroku never lost out on a moment such as this. Making his way over to her, he was quickly deterred with a hard slap to the face.
“You’ll never change, will you Miroku?” Kagome asked, trying her hardest not to laugh at the red imprint she had left behind on his beautiful face.
“Nope, sorry! Can’t help it! It’s this damn cursed hand ya know…” Miroku had been trying this excuse since discovering girls. It didn’t usually work, and his friends all knew better. He was just a lecher.
“Whatever Miroku! Geez, I thought that Sango would’ve had you straightened out by the time I got back! I can’t leave you guys alone for even an instant, can I?” Kagome wasn’t even trying to stop from laughing now. It felt to good. She hadn’t laughed since…well, in a really long time. It was good to be back. Kinda.
“Hey, I’ve tried the best I could with him, I really did, however, it’s easier said than done! And you’d better not leave again! We missed you!” Sango’s eyes were starting to tear up as she thought about the year lost with her friend.
“I know Sango, I’m sorry. But I didn’t really have a say in the matter at the time. But now look, you guys are stuck with me! Get used to it! Awk! Stop it! Let go! Come on, not fair!” Kagome was now stuck in the middle of a friend sandwich. She was glad that somehow Sango had managed to get Miroku on the outside. She didn’t want to hit him more than once a day, unless he deserved it. While trying to struggle free, she noticed InuYasha staring at her from across the parking lot. He had just emerged from Sesshomaru’s car, and was looking at her like…like she wasn’t used to be being looked at anyways. She couldn’t read his expression from this far away, but she assumed he wasn’t entirely thrilled she was back. ‘Oh well, screw him!’ she thought to himself. ‘He dumped me! It was his loss!’ She stared right back at him, a defiant gaze, as if telling him to go on and try to talk to me, lets see what happens. She looked over next to him and saw his elder brother, Sesshomaru. He was looking pretty good. Since being gone, she had developed some new tastes, and she now had a thing for the older, bad ass kind of guy. Sesshomaru was just that. Then again so was…
Suddenly, her body tensed. Her senses began to pick up a strong aura coming closer. Her friends noticed the shift in her body language and quickly let go. They stood and stared at her, her head tilted to one side, eyes closed, as she appeared to be listening to something, waiting for something. Her eyes suddenly snapped open and a huge grin took over her face. She maneuvered her way over to the picnic table and climbed up onto it. She turned her back to her friends, held her arms out to her sides, and began to lean backwards…

InuYasha’s car was in the shop getting a tune up, so he managed to get a ride with his brother, who was studying to be a math teacher. He was a student teacher in Myoga’s math class. It sucked having your older brother sit and watch you while you chatted with your girlfriend. And now Kagome was back. Awkward barely began to describe how InuYasha felt. This was going to suck.
As he got out of Sesshy’s car, he smelt her first. Her scent hadn’t changed much. In fact, it had become sweeter. He looked around and noticed her by the picnic table. Sango and Miroku had her in a death grip bear hug. InuYasha wished that he could go over there and tell her just how much he had missed her, what a jerk he’d been, how much he regretted it…but he couldn’t. He sighed and stared at his former love. He wouldn’t even know where to begin with her. The air suddenly changed. Sesshomaru picked the scent up first, being full demon. He tensed his body and waited for the demon to show himself. InuYasha was watching Kagome’s movements. She too seemed to notice the change, and was…climbing onto the picnic table?
‘What’s she up to?’ InuYasha thought to himself. Then he saw she was falling.
“Shit!” he cried out and leapt to stop her.
“Stop.” InuYasha felt Sesshomaru’s hand hold him back. He began to twist and turn, trying to free himself but it was useless.
“Let me go you jerk! I have to stop…” InuYasha began to frantically try and break free again.
“Look.” Sesshomaru calmly stated, staring at the group of friends. InuYasha too looked and was stunned to see Kagome in the arms of a tall, long haired demon.
“What the Hell…” InuYasha muttered to himself.

As she fell, her friends had no idea what to do. Just as they were about to finally spring into action, out of nowhere, a tall, handsome guy had her in his arms.
‘What the Hell…’ they all thought at the same time.
“Aww, my hero!” said Kagome giggling.
“You could’ve really hurt yourself! What if I hadn’t been here? Huh? What then? You think these mortals would have protected you?” His voice was cold, but his eyes were laughing. A piercing shade of blue, long black hair pulled into a braid going down his back, strength seemed to radiate in waves off of him. He looked at the friends suddenly, narrowing eyes, “You should have at least tried to stop her!” he said exasperated.
“Oh come on, give them a break. They haven’t seen me in so long, they have no idea what I’m capable of. Besides, I know you’d never let anything bad happen to me Hiten!” she said while trying her best puppy dog expression. It usually worked on him. This time was no exception.
“Dammit woman! You’re going to kill me one day!” he said, placing her feet gently on the ground and turning her around to face him.
“Now, why would I go and ruin all my fun by killing you, Hiten?” Kagome snuggled up into his arms and tilted her head so she could look into his clear eyes. She loved his eyes. They were so…blue. Of course, it was only the contacts he wore to try and blend in, but still, they were hot. And blue! She giggled out loud at that thought. Hiten looked down at her curiously, and shook his head. He was getting used to her weirdness. It was what had drawn him to her in the first place. Besides her obvious beauty that is. He looked into her eyes and slowly brought his head down, softly touching her lips with his own. As was the usual case, a sudden heat filled him. He wanted, no, needed her. All he could think about was mating with her, possessing her as no one ever had. He intensified the kiss, tightening his arms around her waist. Her hands were on the base of his neck, drawing him closer. She too felt his want and need, but she still refused to take part in the ritual that would bind them always. She knew it was in a demons nature, that their one purpose, besides survival that is, was to find a mate. Yet she still refused. He knew it had something to do with a previous boyfriend. If he ever met the guy, he’d kill him. Not because of the emotional scars he had inflicted upon Kagome, but because of him, he wasn’t getting laid! He tried to push the thoughts from his mind, and concentrated on the girl in his arms. He used his tongue to slide across her bottom lip and gain access within her mouth. She accepted it and used her own to cause him to shudder with pleasure. He pulled back from the kiss and looked at her dreamy expression. He groaned and pulled her back to him, beginning an even more intense kiss. He was getting to the point of throwing her to the ground and claiming her right there, despite her objections. He picked her up and sat her on the picnic table. Separating her legs, he stood between them, rubbing himself into her. He could feel her body responding, her soft moans encouraged him. Suddenly, Kagome came to her senses. She could feel eyes watching her, not just her friends, but InuYasha’s too. She quickly pulled away from Hiten and pushed him playfully away. Hiten just stared at her. He had felt her beginning to cave, what had happened? He finally noticed the scent of demons in the air. He turned and saw the two Inu youkai brothers looking at him. He saw the taller, older one staring at him, without much expression. It creeped Hiten out a little, and that took a lot. The younger one looked like he wanted to strangle Hiten though. That caused interest. He turned and looked at Kagome who was blushing and looking out the corner of her eyes over to the younger demon.
‘So, is this the guy that broke your heart, fair Kagome?’ he thought to himself. Judging by the expressions on her friends faces, it was. They were staring at the younger one when a sudden cry of, “Oh Inu-baby, there you are!” filled the air.
They all cringed, including ‘Inu-baby.’ He turned and a scantily clad girl flung herself into his arms. She looked up at him and kissed him. He looked like she was the biggest burden in the world at that moment, and he stole a glance over at Kagome. Kagome, however was to busy trying to ignore him it appeared. Her back was turned to him and the floozy, and was trying to engage her friends in a conversation.
“So, uh, guys, this is Hiten. We met while I was living with my cousins, and well…uh… have kinda been seeing each other for the past six months.” Kagome’s blush intensified as she told her friends what she had been keeping from them in her letters.
They all looked in shock at Kagome. Their senses were finally kicking in telling them that he wasn’t mortal like they were, but a full demon. He smiled smugly at them, showing a glimmer of a fang. They all looked at Kagome hesitantly, not sure how to react. Kagome sighed. “Hiten, come on now. These are my friends. Play nice!”
Hiten glared at his future mate. No one talked to him like that. Once she was his, she would learn her place as the lowly mortal she was. But for now, he could do nothing. Well, not much.
He looked over at InuYasha and turned back to Luna. “And what about him Kagome? Should I play nice with him too?” He awaited her reaction, and when it finally came, it was nothing that he could have ever imagined.
Her face turned red, then her eyes blazed fire. She looked over at the Inu youkai with the girl hanging off of him. Her face became an unreadable mask. She turned back to Hiten and her eyes betrayed her. Her brown orbs held such pain, anger and sadness, more than any one being was capable of having within them, Hiten thought. Her eyes held Hiten’s and looked past them, down into his very soul. Suddenly, he began to feel pain such as he had never felt before. He realized dimly that it was Kagome sending him all the pain she had ever experienced, the pain at the loss of her parents, the breakup, everything multiplied to ensure a great deal of misery.
“No Hiten,” she pretty much hissed, “you don’t have to play nice with him. But if I were you, I’d stay away from him, understand?” And with that, jumped off the picnic table and headed for class. Her friends slowly trailed after her, not sure what to make out of the display they had just witnessed. They had never heard anyone use that tone of voice before, much less Kagome. This girl was a complete stranger to them. Suddenly, Kagome turned around, a big grin on her face, a grin that could brighten any room in an instant.
“Look,” she began, “I know you guys are worried about me, but don’t be. I’m okay. I’m still the same old Kagome, just a little more jaded and not as naïve is all. I’m like herpes, once you catch it, you’re stuck with it. You’ll all see.” She smiled at them, and they could never doubt that smile. It was like the old Kagome was back. And she was. It didn’t matter that she had changed, everybody does, all that mattered was that she was back.
Well, there you go. Yeah, I know it’s not Sesh/Kag YET, but wait, they shall prevail. Or else it wouldn’t be in this section, right? Right!…right? Umm, yeah-cough-. Anywho, hope it was alright. I’ll try to update sooner next time. Thanks for reading, Darkness
