chapter three
The yu yu gang walked down the rain soaked path and came to a small village. They walked over to the largest hut that seemed to have someone awake still. Kurama first turned to the gang.
“Allow me to talk to the person inside. Maybe I can convince who ever to let us stay for the night.” He knocked on the wood of the hut and an old woman came out.
“Who are ye and why are ye out in the rain? Come in and tell me before ye get sick.” She shooed them all in. “Well?”
“I am Shuichi and these are my comrades Yusuke, Hiei and Kuwabara.”
“And I am Kaede. Now why were ye all out in the rain?”
“We were traveling.”
“May I ask where ye from?”
“We don’t have a place. Our home was destroyed by a powerful demon. Took all our family away from us.”
“Ye are victims of Naraku aren’t ye? Poor things. Come get warm by the fire. I have friends chasing after him to destroy him. A powerful half-breed, a miko, a monk, a demon slayer, and two full demons are chasing after him to destroy him.”
“That is an unlikely group.”
“They all have been affected by his evil well one of the full demons haven’t been but his friends have so he feels he has as well.” She turned and only Kurama and Hiei were awake. “Well their human bodies must be tired. So what breeds may I ask?”
“Excuse me?”
“I may be old but I am not senile I am a miko and you two are demons.”
“I am a fox demon and my friend here is fire.”
“What of your friend with the smug look on his face always?”
“Yusuke is part fighter demon. And Kuwabara is pure human with spirit powers.”
“Well the rain most likely won’t clear up until the morning. Rest well.” Kurama sighed and looked out the window. The rain always made him sad. It reminded him of better times. Times when his best friend was alive, times when the world was simpler. He remembers a time when he and Kuronue were up late one night while Kuronue’s fiancée was asleep.
((Flash Back))
“Kuronue? Are you awake?”
“Yea I am Youko. What is it?” Kuronue had his fiancée asleep on his lap and he was stroking her head.
“It is about a painting that I heard of. It is worth more than anything else that we haven’t already stolen…” just then he noticed a necklace wrapped around his one hand. “What the hell is this? I thought you said red wasn’t your color.”
“Ha ha Youko. It is from Shizuka. She made it for me.” He smiled at it and played with his fiancée’s ear just to hear her purr.
“I shotty naming the first pup!” Kuronue looked at his friend and then flicked his nose.
“You are acting like a pup yourself!” Kurama held his nose and pouted.
“I want it kissed to make it better!” Kuronue laughed loudly at his friend’s antics and woke up his fiancée who looked at them like they were crazy. “Kuronue flicked my nose and won’t kiss it to make it better.” Shizuka laughed and rolled her eyes. She kissed her two fingers and then placed it on his nose. She smiled at them and then kissed her fiancée on the lips.
((End flashback))
“Fox. We better get some sleep.” Kurama snapped out of his trance and nodded to his partner.
“You are right Hiei.” Kurama went to one corner and Hiei the other and they slept for the night.
