A Fallen Angel

Ahh finally this is where the Sailor Scouts come in. The only real note for this chapter is that Shinozaki is NOT the same Shinozaki that is Makoto's best friend in the SM series. I just used his name because I liked it.

"Well it started a couple of Mellinia ago. In my universe there was an era called the Silver Mellinium and it was a very peaceful time with the rule of the kingdom being transferred from my mentor, Sailor Galaxia, to the Queen of the Moon, Queen Serenity. To celebrate this once in a mellinium transfer of power, a grand ball was to be held at the Moon Palace.

** Flashback**
An elegant ballroom with the sound of fountains and laughter filling the air. Men and women in exquisite formal attire dance around the room. Azarruya is in a circle with four other women sipping her glass of champagne and chatting amiably. They watch the couples swirling around the floor as they talk.

"Really Haruka, there must be some time that Michiru and you could come visit with Galaxia and myself. Setsuna is planning on spending a couple of weeks with us at the summer palace. Perhaps you two could come with her." Azarruya pleaded with her friends.

"Azar...you know we would come if we could, but there is simply too much going on with the merging of our respective kingdoms." Michiru replies gently, smiling at her new wife.

Galaxia and Haruka glance at each other and share a nod. "Michiru, darling, Galaxia and I feel it is time to discuss the dark vibes we have been feeling. We will return momentarily." With that Haruka pecked Michiru on the lips and walked into the foyer with Galaxia.

Azarruya sighs and turns her attention back to the dancers. "This darkness must be really worrying Galaxia, she's been different since we first caught it."

Setsuna and Michiru said nothing as they studied the woman standing before them.

**End Flashback**

Literally all the nobles of the universe were invited, but the top names were the princesses of the eight planets and the prince from Earth. Galaxia and I attended to perform the ceremony and the evening was progressing wonderfully. That is until Chaos showed up.

I, as the chosen neutral party of power, was in posession of the crystal of power. In order to keep it safe, the neutral party keeps the crystal hidden within their soul so that evil has no way of knowing who has been chosen to carry it. Somehow, Chaos figured out I was the carrier and lured me out into the castle gardens, where she attacked me at my weakest moment.

**Flashback**
Azarruya was becoming impatient with the endless suitors that were asking her to dance. She had no interest in these weak, arrogant aristocrats and she highly envied her younger counterparts as they snuck off, one happy couple at a time, to more private quarters. Princess Minako of Venus and Kunzite had been the first to leave, with Zoisite persuading Mercury's shy Princess Ami to follow not long after.

Azarruya was just about to give up hope when she felt a wave of relief at the next voice she heard say "May I cut in?". Without missing a beat she nodded her head at her current dance partner and twirled into her new partner's arms.

Neither of them missed a beat as they flowed with the music and couples around them. Everything seemed right when she was in his arms and her heart felt lighter than it had in weeks.

"I've missed you my dearest", the man whispered into her ear.

"I've missed you too my dear Shinozaki", Azarruya sighed into his shoulder. His look of contentment changed to one of confusion as she began to giggle into his chest.

"Something funny dearest?" he asked with a small grin.

"Honestly, yes. Haven't you noticed Rei dragging poor Jadeite into the hall? He is so embarrassed his face matches her crimson dress." Azarruya tried to stifle her mirth.

"Poor guy, he had big plans to woo her in true scoundral fashion tonight. Guess her impatience ruined that plan," he watched the poor man being dragged out of the ballroom as well as the handsome brunette that was leading his emerald-clad princess into the back hall. "Nephrite seems to have seduced Jupiter into his submission. And I do believe that Edymion and Serenity were here only five minutes before they snuck out to the balcony, that would make us the only couple of our friends still out here"

With those words he took her hand and led her out to the gardens. He held her tightly to his side as they walked through the maze of luscious green hedges. They stopped in the middle of the maze where there was a circular clearing with a fountain. He stopped her infront of the fountain and wrapped his arms around her.

"I have something I need to tell you before anything happens" he started uncertainly. Her expression changed from one of joy to one of confusion. "I just wanted to say that I really do love you and I'm sorry that I am so weak."

Azarruya was completely confused by her lover's words. She looked into his eyes to try and find answers to her questions, before she could ask anything his grip around her tightened into a painful vise. She felt the sharp pain in her back as the knife pierced her skin and she felt the energy draining from her body. Her mind told her to be strong and fight, but her heart, broken by betrayal, overpowered her mind and she succumed to the paralyzing power of Chaos.

**End Flashback**


No one was expecting an attack, so Chaos was able to rip the crystal from my body before the princesses came to my rescue. You see each princess is...was also a Sailor Scout with mystical powers given to her by her home planet. The battle was long and hard, but in the end Galaxia was able to trap Chaos inside her very soul.

Things went on peacefully for another Mellinium until another attack forced Queen Serenity to send the princesses and prince to the future. Galaxia and I spent the centuries patrolling the Universe and keeping a close eye on the young royalty. We never slacked in our attentions until Galaxia became sick. She changed slowly from day to day and I knew that the internal battle between Chaos and Galaxia's soul was coming to an end, and not in our favor.

**Flashback**
"Galaxia, please I'm begging you. Let me take Chaos within to myself so you can rest." Azarruya pleaded with her mentor.

"Aghhh LEAVE ME ALONE YOU PATHETIC WEAKLING!!!" Galaxia sent a table flying at Azarruya.

Azarruya dodged the table and sent a blast at Galaxia's back. Galaxia turned and caught the blast in her hand, smirking evilly.

"You foolish child, you really think that an attack like that could harm me?" Galaxia began to laugh.

"It doesn't have to hit you to work. Palenatao" Azarruya whispered.

The ball of energy in Galaxia's hand surrounded her and froze into a crystal, temporarily containing the evil of the universe.

**End Flashback**

I saw Chaos break down Galaxia more and more. I begged Galaxia to pass Chaos onto me, but she refused. To this day I dont know if that was Chaos talking or if Galaxia really thought she could win.

In the end, Chaos won over Galaxia's soul and took over her body. I tried to defeat her, but her power coupled with the strongest sailor was too much for me. She immediately went after the prince and princesses with me hott on her tail. The battle was a bloody one with each of the princesses giving their lives to help the moon princess, Serenity, defeat Chaos.

**Flashback**
Mars...Mercury...Venus...Jupiter...Saturn...Uranus...Neptune...Pluto the bloody lifeless bodies of her friends surrounded her. Serenity and herself were the only ones left. She could have ended this, Azarruya knew she could have killed Chaos more than once during this battle, but everytime she tried; Chaos would use Galaxia against her. She couldn't bring herself to kill her mentor, even though her body was no longer hers, her soul was still there.

She watched as Sailor Moon transformed into her princess persona and attacked Galaxia with a sword. The sword shattered before her eyes and Azarruya flew towards where the two would meet. Serenity grasped Galaxia's hand and they disappeared. Azarruya looked around and finally found the two, lieing in a life bubble suspended in the air.

She could see that Galaxia's soul was in her princess attire and standing in the middle of her favorite meadow from their home. Serenity was reaching out to her and darkness was surrounding them. Galaxia reached for Serenity's outstretched hand. As their hands locked, a bright light surrounded them and burst through the bubble. Azarruya squeezed her eyes shut knowing that Serenity had given her soul in order to free Galaxia's. Now they were both gone. The bubble shattered and Serenity's body fell to the ground. Galaxia's body, however stayed hovering and the blackness was seeping into her armor and hair.

Before Chaos could regain control of Galaxia's body, Azarruya brought out her sword and flew at her. Chaos' eyes shot open at the feel of Azarruya's sword slicing through her host body. In one shrill cry, Chaos rushed from Galaxia's body and materialized in a cloud above the two sailors. She watched Azarruya grab her mentor's body and bring it gently to the ground. She hugged the lifeless woman close to her and cried. Chaos noticed Serenity moving slowly on the ground. In an instant she had her foot on Serenity's throat and her sword aimed at her heart.

Azarruya looked up, not believe that Serenity could be alive without a soul. *The crystal must be keeping a part of her soul alive as long as her body still lives*

Serenity looked at Azarruya with those deep blue eyes, their eyes connected and they shared a look of sisterly love that had survived entire melliniums. Chaos chose this moment to shove her sword through Serenity's heart. The princess uttered a terrible cry of anguish and slumped lifelessly on the ground. Those blue eyes, now blank slates, still staring into Azarruya's.

**End Flashback**

Unfortunately she was just too strong. She conquered Earth and we came to battle at the edge of the universe, she taunted me and then ran. I followed her and we ended up here. I guess you guys know the rest of the story from there." The group was silent as Azarruya finished.

She tried to keep her face as emotionless as possible, but the telling of what had happened had made it so vividly real to her that she could feel her heart breaking all over again.

"Excuse me", she whispered as she stood and ran into the woods.

Kouga stood and followed her.
