The Pain of lose and betrayal

“I refuse to believe she is dead,” InuYasha roared. The others just looked at him, sorrow and pity gleamed in their eyes. “It can’t be.”

“We must except the fact we may never know what happened to Lady Kagome and poor Shippo,” Miroku sighed, only to be given an angry glare from InuYasha.

“This isn’t fair,” Sango sniffed. “Why Kagome?!”

“She is back in her own time with her own family,” Kaede told them. “Aye she will be miss, but if she be alive then she is fine.”

“Stop talking about her like she is dead!” InuYasha fumed. “Kagome is alive and well and she will find a way back to me!”

“Poor Shippo,” Sango wailed. “How will he know how to survive in Kagome’s strange time?”

“Feh,” InuYasha grunted as he sat back down. “All I know I once Taijina tells me who did this to her, they will pay dearly.”

“Did you not kill those strange demons?” Miroku asked curiously as he held a sobbing Sango to him, not daring to grope her.

“I think so,” InuYasha said, trying to recall what had happened after he saw Kagome falling the well and the Earth closing in on the well permitantly sealing it forever. “I don’t remember much after my demon blood took over.”

“Who was that strange demon who brought you back to us?” Miroku asked, seeing he was not going to get any answers about the fight after they had left.

“Oh her,” InuYasha snorted. “That was Taijina, she was part of my father’s pack and I guess now she is apart of Sesshomaru’s pack now that she is back. I really don’t remember much about her, but she saved me when I was younger from a demon after my mother died.”

“Strange that she would help you if she is apart of Lord Sesshomaru’s pack,” Miroku thought as he rubbed his chin in thought.

“Feh, it isn’t that strange,” InuYasha replied. Miroku looked at him, waiting for him to elaborate. “She made a promise to my father to protect his unborn child where he not to survive the battle.”

“How do ye know that for sure?” Kaede asked as she started making a stew for dinner.

“She told me the night she rescued me,” InuYasha yawned.

“Ye all should rest now,” Kaede ordered as she stared at the tired sad faces of the three occupants in her home. After a few protest they ate the stew and laid to rest. All their thoughts where on the two who fell down the well.

Back in the forest Taijina came upon Sesshomaru.

“Stubborn jerk,” she laughed as she walked up to him. “You didn’t even bother to move.”

“I knew you would be back,” he replied, his voice still void of emotion. “No one disobeys a direct order from this Sesshomaru.”

“Arrrr! You are so frustrating!” she shrieked, having enough of his cold attitude. “What happened to the little boy I grew up with!”

“You mean the one who put frogs in your hair?” he replied, remembering the pranks he use to play on her.

“Yes and then would laugh afterwards,” she huffed, putting her fists on her hips. “I bet you don’t even know how to laugh anymore.”

“You haven’t changed at all,” he replied. “You are still the little girl with a short temper.”

“I haven’t been called little in a long time,” she sighed, giving up her fight for now and sat across from him. “Now what exactly do you wish to know?”

“Why did you leave?” he asked her, still hiding his emotions. This was the question he longed to ask since she left him twenty years ago.

“I haven’t decided that myself,” she sighed, looking up thru the trees to the clear blue skies. “I couldn’t just stand around once you knew the sword would never belong to you. Your father’s wises were known and you, a power hungry Inu-Youkai, were beyond my reach. Ever since your father’s death you have become so cold. Who cares if you will never know if you surpass you father in everything. You had a pack to protect after their Alpha died.”

“Those stiff bastard could not except me as Alpha until I proved my worth,” he told her, golden orbs never leaving her figure. “I brought the pack under order until you left. You defied my orders to stay, why should I accept you back?”

“I didn’t come back to be apart of the pack,” she sighed, staring back up to the sky. “Those days are long gone.”

“How did you learn of the Miko, and InuYasha’s feelings for her?” he asked as his inquiry continued. He would learn as much as possible from her before he punished her for disobeying her Alpha, as was pack tradition.

“Unlike you, I have a heart,” she sneered, bringing her legs to her chest, and resting her chin on her knees. “I kept tabs on InuYasha, incase you would let his body fall into harm while pinned to the tree. I was shocked to hear the reincarnation of the filthy priestess who sealed him to the tree had freed him. Worst she brought the Shikon Jewel with her, and smashed it, leaving shards everywhere.

“Our chaotic world we lived in seemed to be thrown deeper into chaos with the shards. The leader of the Kami Demonesses ordered for her death, but then much deliberation after the appearance of the evil Hanyou Naraku the decision was reversed. We would watch this ordeal unfold and remain in the shadows, prepared to step in if need be.

“Upon Naraku’s death all wondered what the Miko would do with the Jewel. Unfortunately for her, not making a wish upon it lead tem to seek action against her. Tired of waiting for her decision, they learned of the well and decided to send her back home with the Jewel forever. I could not stand back and watch InuYasha lose another he loves. But I could not stop them, and her and the Kitsune are trapped on the other side of the well. Now you know I left the pack to wander around with demonesses who have in turn hurt one of my own pack. Now you know.”

“You do of course realize I cannot go easy on you for your betrayal,” Sesshomaru said as he stood up.

“Nor do I wish you to,” she replied as she bared her neck in submission. “I only ask my life be spared.”

“Indeed, as our pack is small in number, you life might be spared,” he replied coldly as he his claws swiped against her neck, leaving four bloody trails on her neck. Closing her eyes, she refused to scream in pain as her felt his claws dig into her back. “However, if you do survive this then you shall be welcome back into the pack.”

“I deserve all I get,” she replied.

“It’s no fun if you are submissive,” he sneered as he kicked her to the ground. “After all I remember you being a spirited youth who would tell me to bite her every time she did something offensive towards me.”

“A spirit can be broken,” she coughed as she sat up, keeping her head down. “I realize what I have done to the pack through my foolish whims.”

“To think father thought you would be Alpha bitch,” he laughed darkly as he kicked her back, the dirt rubbing into her wounds. He placed a foot on her throat and stared down at her. “You where never worthy of this Sesshomaru.”

“Maybe you where never worthy of me,” she hissed. “I guess I just forfeited my life.”

“Bitch, you shall learn your place!” he roared as he picked her up by her neck. “I should kill you.”

“Then why haven’t you!” she fumed, as the claws tighten around her neck. “I tire of these games! Kill me and let it be done!”

Dropping her after she passed out, Sesshomaru left to head towards the village. It was time he took care of another pack problem, namely his Hanyou brother. He was the Alpha and it was time to prove it to everyone. Taking one last look at the passed out Inu-Youkai he knew he would be seeing her again. No one with her high spirits could ever be killed so easily.
