A Pixie's Kiss
Sorry its so short, I'll make the next chapter longer.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Rin sat at the edge of her parents bed, the duty old book open in her lap she leaned back into the plush cotton pillows to continue the story, wondering is maybe she could finish the tale.
The king and queen knelt beside the cradle, clutching at each other in an effort to contain their grief and horror.
“How could this have happened?” Sobbed the queen, wanting to reach out to her child, yet fearful that if she did his life would end right there. “Is there nothing you can do?” She asked the crowed of mystical beings clustered around them.
“The thirteenth fairy’s power is great. I’m afraid I cannot break her spell.” The polar bear whispered softly.
“So there truly is no hope for him?” Fresh tears filled her eyes as she reached down to stroke her son’s deep black hair.
At that moment the small toad hopped down from his perch. “My queen” Said the frog “my friend here still has her own gift to give.”
The small pixie shyly flittered down beside the frog, waves of golden dust sifting down from her delicate wings. “I am not so great, my friend, I cannot dissolve the malicious energies that now tie to the child’s destiny.”
“But you can soften it!” Croaked the toad. “You can loosen the knots on those ties so that one day maybe the they will fall free themselves.”
With a sigh the pixie fluttered over to the boy, staring at the sorrowful faces of the people surrounding him, his large golden eyes filling with fretful tears as a baby’s usually did. “I no not if you this will help.” said the pixie to the child more than the people around her. “I truly wish for you to know the ultimate joy. A wondrous gift that now will come for you no matter what destiny has in store for you now.” Softly she kissed Inuyasha's forehead. “A pixie kiss can grant even the most lonely, wretched soul the gift of love. If you find your love before your sixteenth birthday than you will know a joy that will make your passing a bit easier on our hearts, for you will have had what many search for lifetimes to find.”
The queen smiled sadly through her tears, though the knowledge that her son will know love eased little of her pain.
“However,” The pixie exclaimed, fluttering above the cradle. “If you have not found your love before you prick your finger, you will not die, but will fall into a deep sleep, almost as that of death, but for the soft beating of your heart. You will remain as such, until the one your heart is destined to choose claims a kiss.”
“I thank you little Pixie.” said the queen, bowing low to the tiny person who may have saved her sons life. The celebration began again, but it was not as it had been. The thick foreboding sensation still clung to the air and to the hearts of those who attended, and soon everyone was departing, feeling as though there was nothing left to celebrate for. The prince might as well have been dead.
Seeing this troubled King, for he wanted his son to live wonderfully, even if it was only for such a short time. In an effort to avert the terrible fate thrust upon his child by the affronted fairy he decreed that every spindle in the kingdom be destroyed. On penalty of death he forbade everyone form using a spinning wheel or keeping a spindle in their homes.

The reason this chapter is so short is becuase next chapter we will get to see inuyasha throughout his childhood and I wanted to start that off with a new chapter. See you all in a week or too. I've gotta work on Flirting With Demons.

The spinning stopped, the cloths having to be purchased from foreign kingdoms who crafted garment especially for their neighbors.
