Chapter 3 - Rendezvous

I was thankful that my Gramps was able to pick me up from school this afternoon, for today is the magic day ladies and gentlemen. It is Friday and tonight is Kouga's big birthday bash downtown at the Club Rendezvous. It's typical you know, guys would have no idea how long it would take for girls to get ready to go to an all out party like this, especially if you gotta look your best, your hottest, your sexiest.

I was sporting a hunter green tube top, the outer layer of fabric was almost see through and hung down in a flowing spill to my hips. The under part, just covered my bust, which meant that I was showing mid-drift but you had to look hard enough to see it under the semi-see through outer layer. I thought it was tasteful and fun at the same, especially to go along with the white flare leg - hip hugger - low rise jeans Sango let me borrow. My feet were, just for the night, in kitten healed shoes, and for those that don't know... that means the heal is pointed like a stiletto, almost, but there is a solid pump under the toe for really good balance. Basically... think of stripper shoes, but just not as tall... for I am no stripper... but I love their shoes. They were a simple white in color, so that they matched my pants, because the pants covered most of the shoe... I just liked the shoes because, believe it or not, they are comfortable, and they make me taller than my normal five foot one inch, I was now proudly standing at an entire five foot five. Point for me.

Kagome and I actually settled our differences for the time being, and she even helped me out with my hair. Honestly, I had no idea what to do with it. I was just going to leave it down, but then she reminded me of the diamonds I was going to be sporting around my neck and my wrists. She actually did a really great job. My hair was pulled up into a bun on the top of my head, but it twisted in pieces so that it looked like it took someone hours to get it to stay in tiny twists and then wrap it up into a bun. Hanging from the bun were small tendrils of my hair, that were curled into corkscrew ringlets. And even though, I am more than capable of doing my own make up, since Kagome was on a role I let her do that as well. My eyes were shaded a lighter green than my top, and lined in black to make my eye color pop out. I love having green eyes. I am not a big fan of lip stick, so instead I just applied some raspberry flavored lip gloss and taa-daa I was done and ready for the party!

Sango was also over at Kagome's getting ready for the occasion, and I was pleasantly stunned when she came out of the bathroom dressed to the nines. She was wearing a Chinese silk top that was black with accents of coral colored flowers that danced as they fell from tree branches. She had a long and black ankle length skirt with slits that came all the way up to her thighs. She had really cute shoes, black one inch heals that had a strap around the ankle and a thong between the toe. She had put her entire outfit together all on her own, as well as her hair and make up. Her hair style matched her Chinese top, pulled into two buns on the top of her head, and her bangs were brushed to cover her forehead with more of the soft pink in the ribbons that were tied around each bun. Coral colored eye shadow was applied lightly to her lids, and she also wore black liner, but she added tiny tiny crystals to the wings of the liner, three on each side. She painted her lips a dark burgundy red which looked gorgeous on her. The thing that stood out the most was her thick eye lashes... I wish I had thick and dark lashes like that, they were beautiful.

"Wow, Sango..." I commented when she came into Kagome's bedroom. "You look stunning."

"Take a picture, this is the most dressing up I will ever do until the day I get married," she teased.

"My camera is already packed into my purse," Kagome pouted as she turned around from her vanity mirror. She was finishing the last touches on her hair. She had it pulled up into a high pony tail and was taking pieces from the base and twisting them around the hair tie, securing in the twists with bobby pins. She was fashioning the color blue, with a light blue halter top and midnight blue flare leg jeans that had sparkles all over the legs. She was going for cute, elegant, and simple. I mentally applauded her on her choices, since she was going out of her way to look less appealing but still look presentable for the party. In the back of my head though, I knew that Kouga wouldn't care if Kagome was dressed in nothing but a potato sack and he would still be drooling over her.

Kagome padded over to where I was sitting on her bed. "You will dress up for prom won't you Sango?" She asked as she sat down behind me and I saw a flash of white come over my face and down towards my neck. Kagome clasped the diamond choker in place, then took each of my wrists to put the bracelets on as well.

"I might... I was thinking about wearing a tux," Sango answered.

Kagome wrinkled her nose, "Does that mean that you would make Miroku wear a dress?"

"Don't be ridiculous," Sango laughed, "He will be wearing a tux too."

I joined in Sango's laughter, "Although, you have to admit that it would be pretty damn funny to see him in a dress, especially something formal."

"You guys are weird..." Kagome sighed.

"Not weird," I retorted, "original and eccentric."

"Whatever you want to call it," Kagome shrugged. "So... does that mean everyone is ready now?"

Sango looked down at herself, straitening out her skirt, "I think so," she pulled her cell phone out of her black hand bag, "It's six thirty... we should probably head out soon so we aren't late."

"Do both of you have your iPods?" Kagome asked.

Since her hand was already in her purse, Sango pulled her black one out with a grin, "I have mine."

I leaned over the side of the bed and pulled my overnight bag from Kagome's floor. She had invited both Sango and I to spend the night at her place after the party. I unzipped the front pocket, and pulled out my nicely decorated iPod shaking it as I raised it into the air, "I have mine too!"

Kagome picked her baby blue one from her dresser, "Alright, then we are all set. Let's get this show on the road ladies!"

We all exited Kagome's bed room and descended the stairs. Her mother and her grandfather were waiting for us in the kitchen.

Kagome's family has always been really nice to me... and sometimes just seeing Kagome's mom made me miss my own. It was very generous of Ms. Higurashi and her father to invite us over to spend the night, and to let us borrow the car for the evenings events.

Her grandfather handed Kagome the keys. "Now Kagome, you have to remember to be careful when you are on the road. Be a defensive driver because others are not looking out for you, but to busy worrying about themselves to care about three teenage girls."

"Yeah, I know Gramps," Kagome nodded.

"And even though we are letting your friends spend the night," he continued. "We still have the rules that no boys are allowed over when the party is through."

"But Gramps," Kagome whined, "InuYasha was going to come over afterwards and watch a movie with us because he was not invited to the party."

Kagome's mother looked down at her own father with a soft smile, "Now father, I told Kagome it was okay for her boyfriend to visit when they came home."

"Just as long as he doesn't spend the night, then I guess it's okay..." her grandfather sighed.

"Thanks Mom!" Kagome grinned widely and leaned forward to give her mother a tight hug.

"You girls have fun," her mom said, waving and pushing us towards the door.

"Thank you Ms. Higurashi, and Grandfather Higurashi," Sango and I said in unison as we followed Kagome out the front door and to the car. Sango sat in the back, while I got shotgun and Kagome took the position behind the wheel.

"I haven't seen you drive much Kagome, we are going to make it there in one piece aren't we?" Sango asked as she fastened her seat belt.

"Of course we are..." Kagome replied, adjusting the mirrors so she could see out of them properly. She put the car in reverse and I followed Sango's example and fastened my seat belt as well. I had never seen Kagome drive either, and I didn't even know she had her license.

She pulled out of the driveway and onto the road, and I let the breath that I had been holding out slowly as she drove out of her neighborhood. Okay, this wasn't going to be so bad after all. Maybe we won't die on the way there. As we got closer and closer to downtown, I could feel myself starting to get more and more nervous. My stomach was knotting up and giving birth to butterflies. I closed my eyes, and mental images of the night's events went soaring through my mind. At least... how I would want them to happen anyway.

Kagome, Sango, and I would be dancing out on the strobe lit floor and Kouga would come over to us to dance behind me. His hand would find my hips and I wouldn't be shy about dancing with or on him. His warmth, his presence, the touch of his skin and the feeling of his breath in my ear as he whispered that the diamonds looked gorgeous on my neck. I would turn around in his arms and wrap my own around his neck as we continued dancing and grinding into each other. Then he would tell me that I was the woman of his dreams.

I opened my eyes and snapped from my reverie when I felt the car stop and Kagome put the gear in park. "We are already here?" I asked.

"Yeah," Kagome nodded, "Were you not paying attention?"

I shook my head, "Not really... I'm a little nervous actually." I glanced down at the diamond bracelets around my wrists, "I just have no idea how Kouga is going to take this..."

"Don't worry about it Ayame," Sango leaned forward and placed her hand on my shoulder. "You look fucking gorgeous, so even if Kouga intended the jewelry for Kagome, you are a perfect replacement."

"Replacement?" I asked raising an eyebrow, and a smile on my lips as I turned to face her.

She laughed, "Well, Kagome has a boyfriend... and you are single. Kouga will just have to face the facts and take you instead of Kagome."

I felt a small blush creep up over the bridge of my nose and leak into my cheeks. "Take me?" I averted my gaze, then quickly looked back at Sango, "I don't think he will 'take me' in any sort of circumstance. If anything, he will play along with it and at the end of the party I will have to give him the jewelry back."

"You never know," Kagome chimed in with a smile that left me rather curious as to what exactly she had discussed with Kouga on the phone. If she was keeping her end of the bargain, then she was supposed to have called Kouga a few nights ago and told him herself that she gave the jewelry to me, and that she has a boyfriend and isn't interested in dating Kouga.

"What are you planning Kagome?" Sango asked for me.

"Why do I have to be planning something?" She asked in her own defense, but she didn't drop the smile. That look on her face was not helping the butterflies that decided to have a luau in my stomach.

"Because you always wear that sort of grin and have that tone in your voice when you have something in mind," Sango answered. "You aren't going to embarrass Ayame are you?"

Kagome's large brown eyes widened, "No! Ayame is my friend, why would I do something like that?"

"You both had an argument the other day..." Sango countered in my defense... seriously, I was having a hard time doing it on my own because of how nervous and anxious I was at the same time. Gods help me.

Kagome crossed her arms over her chest, "I held up my end of the deal. Now it's Ayame's time to shine."

I finally found my voice when she spoke my name. "Right," I nodded in affirmation, clasping my fist over the space on my chest where my heart was located. "Let's go."

Sango laughed, "You sound like this is some mission Ayame..."

I swallowed a rogue lump that decided it would be fun to get caught in my throat, "No, it's not a mission. I'm just a tad nervous."

Sango's hand was still on my shoulder, "Don't be... it's just a party."

I wanted to add in behind her, 'Yeah a party for the man of my dreams, and I am wearing the Prince's Crown Jewels for his Princess,' but I kept that thought to myself.

We all got out of the car and walked across the street to get to the club. I had not noticed that the parking for the club was already packed, and there was a huge line gathered outside of Rendezvous. The club's regular patrons were being turned away for the night for some punk teenager's eighteenth birthday blow out. I could feel all eyes on me and my two friends as we came strait up to the door without even going to the back of the line.

The bouncer at the door was huge... using a metaphor, he was two stories tall... when really he must have been seven foot something, cause oh man...

We all smiled cutely, and Kagome took the lead of the pack, "Higurashi, Kagome and my two friends: Niji, Ayame and Taijya, Sango. We should be on the VIP list." She leaned forward as if she was not intimidated in the least by this big guy, and she pointed to his list. The tall and bulky bouncer glanced down at his clipboard and read through the list with his creepy sunglasses still covering his eyes. I know the shades were supposed to make him look more intimidating, but seriously... at his height, I don't think he needed the help of the glasses.

He moved out of the way and unclipped the red velvet rope to the entrance of the club. He didn't say a word, but the oaf of a man had let us pass, even though we skipped the rest of the line. Even if there were some club goers in the crowd, I noticed that some of the students who had been invited were in the line as well. None of them had given me or my friends a happy look when we just skipped them all. Still, it doesn't matter... we were in... at least the front door.

We traveled down a narrow hallway until we came to another roped off area where a cute girl was waiting behind a desk. She looked like she worked here, because I didn't recognize her from school or anything. She had her golden blonde hair pulled back into a ponytail which left her face clean of any distracting or weird bang cuts. She had light blue eyes, which were rather pretty... but nowhere as blue or as heart melting as Kouga's electric and ice blue ones.

"Hello ladies, welcome to the celebration. Do you have your iPods?" she asked us kindly, smiling at Kagome and Sango, then her eyes widened when she looked at me. She glanced away quickly so she could inspect all three of our iPods, which we had presented to her. It only took her a few moments to find the file she needed to see to make sure we could get inside. She leaned over and unclipped the second rope for us to get all the way into the club. Without a second thought, the three of us entered... and I am not totally sure, but I think the Invitation check in girl called someone over a walky-talky or something because I heard a lot of static behind me and some muffled voices.

I couldn't think on it anymore when Kagome gasped in shock at the get up of the club. It was amazing. There was a huge dance floor, but it was placed two tiers down so it was set into the floor. The dance floor was covered in a black marble tile, and the walls were covered in black tarp. Yes, tarp. Why? I have no clue... but I think we would find out before the night is over. There were black, white, and blue streamers dangling from the ceiling and the same color scheme of balloons were everywhere. They were hanging on chairs that were behind the bar area, which was where we were currently standing, and they were hanging on poles that lead down stairs. The most awesome decorations were the eight foot ice sculptures in the shape of columns, and in the middle of the columns was a table. The table had black cloth over it with an electric blue runner going down the middle. Set on the table was another ice sculpture of a wolf, howling, with it's head thrown back. It was the school's mascot... and Kouga's favorite animal. Secretly... it was my favorite too... and it had been long before I even met Kouga.

In front of the ice wolf statue was the largest cake I had ever seen. It looked very similar to a wedding cake, but in reverse. I know most wedding cakes tend to be white... but this cake was black with blue trim that I couldn't quite make out the details from this distance. But it was indeed breath taking. Hakkaku wasn't kidding when he said that Kouga's dad was going all out for his birthday.

There was a DJ already spinning on a stage, that was on the far side of the sunken dance floor, and the music he was playing was catchy... techno. There was a strong base, and the beat was so hot that I couldn't help but start to dance... just a little.

I stopped moving completely when I felt a strange hand on my shoulder. I squeaked and jumped, turning around. This caused Kagome and Sango to turn as well, even though they didn't jump or squeal. It was another bouncer... this one was not nearly as tall... but the fact that he wore the classic bodyguard shades made him just as serious looking as the social service men that protect the President.

"Are either of you Miss Kagome Higurashi?" Great another Kagome fan... what is a red head to do to get some attention here?

Kagome raised her hand, "I am... and these are my friends, Sango Taijya and Ayame Niji."

"This way ladies," the man took his hand off of my shoulder and escorted us to some stairs that went winding in an arc upwards to what I guessed was the VIP room. Kagome had mentioned that we were on the VIP list... so I could only assume that is where we were going. And boy was I right. The VIP section was decorated in the same colors as the rest of the club, but there were nice big plush leather sofas to sit on, and a mini bar. A mini bar? Well I don't think they would serve alcohol to minors, but it probably had stuff like soda and water. It was a nice get up.

Standing on one of the few huge black leather couches was Ginta and Hakkaku, Kouga's two best friends. They were busy entertaining themselves with some video game that was being played on the largest plasma flat screen television I had ever seen... even bigger than the ones you normally see in the electronics store. I grinned when I recognized the game they were playing. It was Dance Dance Revolution... one of the hottest games out on the market. Kid's at school were crazy about this game, and I don't blame them... I got addicted to it too. Ginta and Hakkaku were dancing pretty well to the beat of the game, and it was really cool to see them keep in step. When their round ended, Ginta turned around and grinned at us.

"Hey girls!" He stepped off of his dance pads and grabbed a hand towel, wiping the sweat from his face as he came over to hug all three of us.

Hakkaku stayed on his dance pad, but at least turned and waved at us, "Hey ladies, glad you could make it."

"Thanks," the three of us ladies said together.

"Yo, Ginta... mind if I play a round?" I asked with a grin on my lips.

"Sure! Go ahead. You guys are on the VIP list, so you can have as much fun as you want and go anywhere in the club that you want," he answered taking a seat on a sofa. Kagome sat next to him and Sango on the other side of her.

"I play winner," Sango called out, already taking off her shoes. I was doing the same thing, there is no way I would damage nice dance pads with these killer heals. That and I don't really feel like leaving the party early because of a twisted ankle.

"Deal," Hakkaku gave her a thumbs up and I stepped onto the pad.

"Since you are warming up, you wanna pick the song?" he asked me.

I shook my head, "Na, you can pick.... I just want to adjust my settings before the round starts."

He nodded and picked the song "You" which was a song done by the Japanese singer Ayumi Hamasaki, and the band Initial D. I held down the right buttons with my foot and set my pad to my personal settings that I liked to play on. Standard mode, with boost on, and no freeze arrows. We started the round, and quickly Hakkaku and I started to play. The song was upbeat and had a fast pace, and as I watched the arrows fly up the screen, I heard Kagome and Sango cheering me on in the background which brought a smile to my face as I continued to dance and follow the arrows. One mess up and I would have to start my combo count all over again... and I was already at one hundred and thirty two combos. Perfect Perfect Marvelous Perfect! Go me!

By the end of the round, I had gotten an A and Hakkaku had just managed a C.

"Woo," I licked my finger and touched it to his shoulder, "I think I just burned you."

"I think you just handed him his ass," Ginta laughed from the sofa.

I made a gesture, leaning over and grabbing Hakkaku's ass, then proceeded to put my hands in his face. "Here's your ass Hakkaku. They said I just handed it to you."

He pouted and playfully smacked my hands, it didn't hurt, but I think I damaged his ego. Oh well... it was funny. He stepped off of the dance pads and made room for Sango to come up and challenge me next. "You ready to get owned?" I asked her.

"Bring it on baby," she replied as she started rolling the waist of her skirt up so the fabric wouldn't get in her way.

After a few more rounds, I defeated Ginta and Kagome once and then beat Hakkaku and Sango twice. I was the VIP DDR champion!

I took a step down from the pads, bowing at the waist, "Ladies and Gentlemen, I say we take a break for beverages. This DDR Queen needs some water or something before she can continue kicking ass."

Sango laughed, and got up to stand next to me. "Ayame's right, what is there to drink guys?"

Hakkaku glanced down at his watch, "Well we can get drinks, then we had better head down to the main floor. There are already a lot of other people here, and its quarter to nine. Kouga will be here soon."

After playing all those rounds of DDR, I had totally forgotten that it was even Kouga's birthday. I reached up and touched the diamonds that were still around my neck. I felt like I really needed to freshen up. I didn't want to meet Kouga when he got here while I smelled like sweat from playing DDR. I smiled nervously after the mention of Kouga's name and the others must have seen it too because Ginta and Hakkaku finally noticed that I was wearing diamonds around my neck.

Ginta looked at Hakkaku, and Hakkaku gave the same look back to Ginta... then they both turned their gazes at me.

"What?" I asked, probably a little more harshly than I should have... it made me sound defensive.

Ginta blinked a few times, "Those diamonds.... they are supposed to be around Kagome's neck."

Kagome, thankfully stepped in for me. "No they aren't."

Hakkaku nodded, "Yes they are, Kouga told us so."

"Well I am not going to wear them," Kagome stated flatly. "I already have a boyfriend and I am not going to break up with him for Kouga."

Points on my list to Kagome.

"I let Ayame wear them because she doesn't have a boyfriend. And if Kouga wants a girlfriend so bad, then he has to look at someone else other than me because I'm taken. Ayame is perfect for Kouga," Kagome nodded.

I couldn't help but blush at her bold declaration. I was surprised to say the least. "Kagome," I whispered... leaning over to give her a hug.

"Ohh... Kouga is not going to like this..." Ginta said nervously.

"Water," Sango sighed... "Can we get some water to drink before Kouga gets here? And where is the VIP bathroom? I gotta piss... and I wanna wipe all the sweat off of me."

I nodded, "I wanna freshen up too..."

Hakkaku pointed to two black painted doors on the other side of the VIP room, one had a blue neon man above it that read, "Pimps" and the other had a pink neon woman above it and it read, "Hos". I narrowed my eyes at the degrading neon lettering and shook my head. I think Sango had the same thoughts as I did as we walked into the pink door.

"Men can be pigs..." she huffed as she walked inside a stall and locked it behind her.

I stayed in front of the mirror and checked my make up. Everything still looked perfect. I reached behind me and unclasped the necklace, laying it on the counter. I took a paper towel and wet it in the sink, wiping the dried sweat from my neck and chest. "I know it's supposed to be a theme... but still... I for one am no ho," I replied to her.

She exited the stall, the toilet flushing behind her... must be automatic or something. She stood next to me at another sink and washed her hands. She glanced down at the sink and blinked. "You took off the necklace?"

"Yeah, I wanted to wipe off my neck..." I answered.

"Just don't forget it," she reminded me.

"Help me put it back on?" I asked.

"Sure," she nodded, clasping the expensive jewelry back into place around my neck.

We came out of the bathroom to find two unopened bottles of water waiting on the mini bar for us. Kagome was already drinking from hers while Ginta and Hakkaku had sodas. Hakkaku glanced back down at his watch after finishing his cup, "It's almost show time ladies, we should probably go ahead down stairs."

We all nodded in agreement and followed the two boys down the stairs and onto the main floor. Hakkaku wasn't kidding when he said that there were a lot of people here. The floor was packed. The DJ stand had moved to another corner of the stage and as soon as we walked off of the main floor bar area and towards the stage, the lights went out. The crowd gasped at the sudden darkness and the cease of the music. A few seconds of silence passed over all of us, until I picked up whispers from other people.

"What's going on?"

"Did the power go out?"

"What time is it?"

"Kouga's gonna be pissed when he finds out the power went out at his party."

I smirked, no one could see it since it was pitch black... I kind of figured why all the lights went out. Kouga was making his grand appearance.

Just as suddenly as the lights had gone out... the music kicked back on, but we were all left in total darkness. I reached over, and grabbed either Ginta or Hakkaku, I couldn't tell which one... but I knew I had one of them.

"I love this song..." it was Hakkaku.

"What song is it?" I asked.

"Sex Bomb, by the Lords of Acid," he answered.

"What a song for Kouga to pick..." I commented, raising my eyebrows.

I was suddenly blinded by firecracker-like light, that spouted from the stage in white and blue. There were over head lights and a spot light that shone at that moment towards the stage. In the middle of the stage was cloaked and hooded figures. I couldn't make out how many there were... but there was quite a few. They stood in an ominous looking circle... and started to slowly walk outwards from their circle, with their arms held out to their sides.

The entire crowd watched in anticipation, more whispers going over the wave of people.

"What's this?"

"Where is Kouga?"

"This is awesome!"

When the beat of the song picked up and the electric guitar pulsed, the hooded people threw their cloaks off and rising on a tiered platform was Kouga. He had two girls on either side of him, holding onto his arms. They were in nothing but their underwear... or at least bikinis which matched the decorations used for the club -- black and blue - the color of bruises... interesting combination if you ask me. They walked with him as he stepped off of the platform, and I noticed that the hooded figures had been more girls with the same costumes on. They started doing acrobatics and they lit torches on fire and started juggling with them. It was amazing. The two girls on Kouga's arms left his side and went to opposite sides of the stage and climbed up these two poles that seemed to just appear, but they had been there the entire time. They climbed up and into cages which went up and down the poles, moving animatronically, and slowly to give it a more seductive feel to the atmosphere.

Kouga walked to center stage and picked up a microphone. He was gorgeous... in black vinyl leather pants, and nothing but an electric blue fishnet shirt. He had his hair down which was to die for, and I had to stop myself before I started drooling all over the place. You could see the well defined and lean muscles of his chest and abdominal area working under his shirt, and gods it was sexy.

Not just because I have liked him for so long, but Kouga has a really nice body. He works out constantly, and plays a lot of sports. As far as I know he participates in swimming, soccer, and baseball. During swim season I would take a seat on the soccer bleachers which were a pretty fair distance away from the pool, and watch him swim. Or during soccer season I would hide under the bleachers... sometimes with Sango and Kagome so they could watch someone too... but I only had eyes for Kouga.

I licked some of my raspberry lip gloss off accidently, and the taste of fruit and the sight of Kouga made me just want to melt. He was a god standing up there with the music playing in the background. He held the microphone to his lips and held up his one free hand.

"Welcome to Rendezvous, Ladies and Gentlemen. More importantly, welcome to my eighteenth fucking birthday party!!" he called out. The crowd went wild! Me included, everyone cheered and screamed in his honor. I heard voices talking all around me.

"Kouga's so fucking cool!"

"This is the most awesome party I have ever been to!"

"Me too!"

"Kouga sure knows how to throw a party! This rocks!"

Before I knew it, I felt someone pushing me. I turned my head to see that it was the girl from the front who was checking iPods. I furrowed my eyebrows together at her as she grabbed my arm and started pulling me away. I snatched my arm from her, and spat, "What do you think you are doing?"

"This way," she tilted her head in the direction to the back of the stage.

"No way lady..." I sneered.

"Kouga won't be happy if his girl doesn't show up on stage with him," she snapped back. "Now don't be nervous. Get going."

My eyes widened in shock. What the hell was this chick talking about? "Look, I am not Kouga's girl."

"You are wearing the diamonds. Kouga said that his girl would be wearing the diamonds. You are going up there whether you like it or not," she demanded grabbing my arms again. She had a tighter grip this time and pulled me back stage. The music was so loud and now I was to far away to yell for the help of Kagome or Sango. When we were behind the curtains I snatched my arm back and glared at the girl. "I can walk you know..." I told her flatly.

"You were not going fast enough," she retorted.

Damn what a bitch.

"So now what?" I asked her.

"You wait," she said.

"For what?" I asked. I was getting tired of this game... and fast.

"Don't worry about it," she said.

"Listen here bitch--" I started but was shut up rather quickly when the flock of girls that had been dancing on stage suddenly ran right towards me, surrounding me and taking me onto the stage with them. They had me covered as they held up black and blue sheer fabric around themselves to make a bubble of sorts. I was pushed forward and the girls dispersed.

I must have looked just as shocked as I felt in my heart. The blinding spot light kept me from being able to see the crowd on the floor below me... and all that was left was Kouga... and he was only two inches away. Life seemed to go into slow motion. He turned towards me, and I felt a hand on my hips and they slid to my lower back, pulling me forward against his body. His blue eyes were closed and he was leaning into me. A second hand was on me, at the back of my head, tilting my face upwards. My eyes were wild with shock. I had no idea what he was doing. What was I going to do? Was he going to kiss me? What will he do when he finds out that I am not Kagome? Oh gods, what will I do?

Our faces were dangerously close to each other... and as I took one more breath, his lips were pressed firmly against mine. I had no more time to think, just act. My arms moved to circle around his neck, his hand dropped from my head to join his other hand at my lower back. His lips opened to mine, and I felt something wet and soft dance across my lips. I felt a heat start to build up in my chest and I let him explore my mouth. I felt like I was in heaven. Kouga is my heaven... and I was in it. Now, and for the rest of my life, I will never forget this moment. This one instant in the span of time where our lips are locked in a heated tangle and our bodies are embracing. He was kissing me so passionately, and that one thought triggered my more logical side to kick in. Kouga thought he was kissing Kagome... he thought it was Kagome who was kissing him back with equal force and passion... that it was Kagome who was in his arms, not me... not Ayame.

No! Kouga is kissing me! I don't care what fantasies are dancing around in his head! Kagome is NOT the one kissing him! It's me! And dammit I will make sure he knows it that it was Ayame Niji who gave him the best damn kiss that he has ever gotten in his entire fucking life!!

I tightened my grip around his neck, and crossing my mental fingers I jumped, wrapping my legs around his hips. Thankfully, he caught on and supported my weight by holding under my legs, and his hands were dangerously close to my ass. Not that it mattered right now. Right now... it was just me and Kouga, and we were making out, hardcore, in front of the entire party, that consisted of a large majority of junior and senior class-men.

I think he needed air, that or it probably clicked in his head that he can't spend the rest of his time at his own party making out on stage. He pulled away, and at first I thought he was going to drop me, but he kept his hands steady on my rear. He searched my eyes in wonder... at least it looked like wonder to me. Was he surprised that I wasn't Kagome?

Slowly he let my legs drop so I could support my own weight. He took my hand in his, and held it up to the rest of the crowd, "My girl!"

I think I started blushing the darkest color red, but I would never be able to tell since I didn't have a mirror directly in front of me. I looked out into all the people who were still cheering, and I could barely make out faces, but I could definitely make out human shaped figures. I smiled, flashing teeth... and started to giggle. Using my free hand to cover my nose, attempting but failing to hide my apparent blush.

Kouga still had my hand when he lowered it and turned back to me and kissed me again, this time it was short and sweet. We headed towards the back of the stage hand in hand. He held the microphone up to his lips again, "Have fun guys!"

When we were behind the safety of the curtains he stopped and dropped my hand. I looked up at him, blush still fresh on my cheeks.

"Kouga? I-?" I started but stopped when he turned and gave me the coldest look of hatred.

"I told you to give the present to Kagome!" he snapped at me.

"Kouga, I did... she-"

"I don't want to hear it," he growled.

I felt my heart sink. Kagome said she had talked to him. What the hell was going on? I suddenly felt alone and helpless. I was a deer stuck in front of a semi-truck with its headlights flashing for me to move, but I was paralyzed. I could feel my breath starting to get stuck in my chest, and my voice was lost. I was losing my composure, and quickly. My hands were balled into fists at my sides, and I could no longer fight back the tears that had been threatening to burst from my eyes. They rolled down my flushed cheeks in dancing rivulets.

"How can you be such an asshole!?" I demanded from him.

"You are nothing but a selfish bitch," he snapped back.

"What!? How dare you," I couldn't stop myself. I slapped him. He had a nice new red mark stinging across his cheek in the shape of my hand. "I gave the damn jewelry to Kagome and since she is dating another guy! She gave this stupid necklace, and these stupid bracelets to me! She told me that she told you that she was doing this! So you have no right to be pissed off at me Kouga Ookami!"

He held his cheek, stunned that I had slapped him.

I was on a role, "And if you didn't want me up there! Then why did you kiss me a second time after you had seen it was me? Why the hell did you tell all those people out there that I was 'Your Girl' if you don't like me? What the hell is wrong with you Kouga? How dare you torture my feelings like that you fucking asshole!?"

He stared down at me, still in shock that I had hit him and from what I was saying. I think he was speechless.

I took in a deep breath, clutching my fist to my heart... I was hurting so badly right now. My heart was breaking in two, and all I could do was cry and scream at him. He fucking deserves this!

"How can you be so narrow minded and cold?" I asked, averting my eyes from him, not being able to stand looking at his beautiful form in front of me anymore.

"Kagome..." he said.

I cringed, flashing eyes of pure rage at him, "Is she all you fucking think about Ookami? You know, that means you are fucking obsessed! You are almost her fucking stalker!" I moved my eyes from him again, "You are fucking hopeless Kouga..." I moved and started walking away when I felt a forceful tug on my arm. What the fuck is up with everyone wanting to rip my damn arm off tonight?

"I'm not done talking to you yet," he spoke. He wasn't pissed anymore... I think he was more awe struck.

"I don't want to hear it Kouga, because all you will tell me is that no matter what you want to be with Kagome," I said refusing to look him in the eyes. "No one else is perfect enough in your eyes... you must really enjoy breaking girl's hearts."

"I do not..." he defended himself, tugging on my arm which forced me to face him. He even used his other hand to lift my chin to make sure my eyes couldn't escape his again. "Look... when Kagome called me and told me what was going on, I didn't believe her. How can she be dating another guy when she could have someone like me?"

I narrowed my eyes at him, "Gods you are dense Kouga. Kagome didn't even know that you liked her that way until Sango and I told her so. Which was only like three days ago. She started dating the boyfriend she has now over the summer... so get over yourself."

"Who is this other guy?" he demanded from me.

"Why does it matter? She isn't going to break up with him just for you. It's proof right here Kouga, I'm wearing the precious diamonds you got for her... and she is out in the crowd," I answered, pulling on the choker around my neck.

He stared at me for a few moments of silence then smirked... and I had to remember that I was still pissed off at him, damn him for being so yummy.

"Her man isn't here is he?"

"You didn't invite him, or did you forget that you made sure that only the people whom you invited got in the door tonight?" I spat.

He narrowed his ice blue eyes at me, "No! I didn't forget."

"So then how could her boyfriend even be here if you didn't invite him?"

"Don't get smart with me?"

"What scared of girls with a little more than air in their head?"

"Are you calling your own friend an airhead?"

"No, but you tend to flirt with the girls that have the brain the size of an acorn. Why? Do smart girls intimidate you Kouga?"

"I'm not intimidated by anyone!"

"Then why are you so scared that Kagome is dating a different guy!?"

"I'm not!"

"You are! You're in serious denial Kouga! You even admitted yourself that you didn't believe that Kagome was dating someone else, and you go and hurt my feelings in the process of discovery. You have some fucking balls!"

"Why are your feelings so hurt then? What does it matter to you that I want Kagome so badly? Huh?"

I had to stop for a minute. Oh gods... was this the ultimate moment of truth? Do I tell him that I have had the hugest crush on him for the past three years of high school or do I keep my secret safe?

"You're so blind Kouga..." I chose my words carefully.

"What?" he snapped.

"You are so involved with Kagome that you don't even see it if other girls like you," I said.

"That doesn't tell me what it matters to you..." he started... then I think realization hit him hard. His blue eyes widened slightly, and he pointed to himself, "Unless.... you like me."

Fuck... he hit the nail right on the head.

"Oh my fucking God," he smirked, "You... you have a crush on me don't you?"

I didn't answer... which I think was answer enough for him, for he interpreted my silence as a 'yes'.

I felt like I needed to just die, because at that very moment, he let me go... stopped touching me completely and started laughing. He laughed so hard that he doubled over and was hugging himself so his sides wouldn't split open. I wanted to cry and run... so I did. I ran off the stage, and out the side... not wanting to confront all those people out on the dance floor. Not after being laughed at... not like that. The side door I escaped out of lead into an alley way that turned into the main road. I told myself that I would just wait by the car until Kagome and Sango came outside to look for me. There was no way in all the hells I was going back inside that damn club. My heart was broken... and so was my spirit.
