Chapter 3

Kagome stared in disbelief. The man err demon in front of her was Inu Yasha’s brother. The second most powerful demon she knew of, and here he was bound before her. “Sesshomaru how…?” she started but stopped when she heard his growl become more menacing. She studied his face that was staring at the wall away from her; it had some smudges of dirt and his normally immaculate nails were broken and dirty. He now bore a collar around his neck that appeared to be made of gold but in the weak light it was hard to tell. The gems though are really what captured her attention, an alternating pattern of black and crimson stones. The dark stones seemed as though they absorbed the light around them, while the red stones glittered strikingly even in the faint light. Her eyes drifted away from the collar and proceeded down his chest. His hair, still the shiny silvery white it always was, hung loosely on his upper chest moving slightly with his slow even breathing. Visible were the small traces of newly healed wounds among the ripples of his muscular form. Absently she brought her hand to her neck, expecting warm flesh she was somewhat surprised to find a cool piece of metal. But remembering that Sesshomaru had one as well the shock was momentary. Feeling around the collars edges she was unable to find a seam.

She pondered again how it was possible he was here and chained in place but kept her questions silent. His growl had settled back to the low pitch it had been when she first crawled over. Sitting there staring and wondering for sometime she jumped when he finally spoke. “Human, why do you continue to stare at this Sesshomaru?” he questioned, while continuing to face the wall.

“Well Sesshomaru…. uh sama, I’m not exactly sure how I got here and you are the only other person in this room I can ask,” Kagome said rather nervously. Growling again he sat there as if he had no intention to answer her unasked question.

“You were brought in yesterday; this Sesshomaru knows nothing further than that.” Looking away her eyes roamed the room again, staring at nothing in particular. “And human…” Kagome looked back, “You should try to cover yourself.” She blushed ten shades of red when she realized she sat there in nothing but her tattered top and pink panties. It occurred to her that this was probably the reason Sesshomaru had not looked at her and she stammered an apology before moving to a position where she would be less visible.

Kagome leaned against the wall, eyes closed. Her leg was becoming more painful as time wore on but she brushed the pain aside. Listening to Sesshomaru’s even breathing, she was unsure of how long she sat there, she may have slept then or just drifted between worlds. A loud scraping sound brought her back to herself. Light shone through a small opening in the bottom of the door. A tray was pushed through the crack and the light disappeared. Deciding that her current state of undress was not going to contain her curiosity she stood and walked over to investigate. Upon the tray were two plates and a glass. One plate held a small loaf of bread while the other a gleaming piece of raw meat; the cup appeared to contain water. Staring at the food made her realize how hungry she was. When was the last time she had eaten? She didn’t know. Picking up the tray with her good arm she carried it over to Sesshomaru. “Nee, Sesshomaru-sama, they brought us food,” she reported while placing the tray beside him.

“This Sesshomaru is not hungry human,” he rumbled. Kagome’s shock of having him answer so fast quickly disappeared because his stomach chose that moment to growl audibly.

“Your face may reflect your words but your stomach tells the truth,” she said, smiling to herself. Tearing off a piece of the raw meat, she held it to his face. “Come on eat,” the though of him biting her hand flashed through her mind, but left as quickly as it had come. His golden eyes regarded her coolly but when his stomach growled again he took the meat from her fingers. Once he had eaten all of the meat, she offered him the small loaf of bread.

“You require food as well human, besides this Sesshomaru does not eat bread.”

“Arigato Sesshomaru-sama, and I would prefer it if you called me Kagome, instead of human,” she replied before hungrily taking a bite of bread. Grunting in reply he watched her eat. Finishing the small meal she picked up the cup and after a few sips, offered him some water. He gave a slight nod of his head and Kagome brought the cup to his lips. He drank deeply but left enough for Kagome to drink again.

This continued on for several days, the time in between was spent doing very little. She explored the walls of the cell, and the door, but found nothing of interest. The rest of the time she thought about her situation and examined the collar she now wore. It wasn’t very wide maybe 2cm at most, with nothing on the outside except what felt like scratches but were probably some sort of engraving. During the long hours she also attempted several conversations with Sesshomaru. Eventually learning after many conversations how he came to be captured. Apparently he had been fighting in a war for the western lands, against the army’s leader Gendatsu, when Naraku had appeared and helped restrain Sesshomaru long enough for Gendatsu to place the Gemmed collar around his neck. The collar, according to Sesshomaru, prevents him from using any of his demon powers but also allowed the person who placed it around his neck to control him. The pain in her leg was also getting far worse she was now having problems standing or putting weight on it. When food came that day she limped and almost fell trying to bring it over to Sesshomaru. “Kagome, the wound in your leg is infected,” He stated, his golden eyes staring up at her pained face.

“How can you tell?” she replied back.

“The smell of infection is beginning to relieve this Sesshomaru of any appetite I once had. It needs to be healed woman, stand in front of me.”

“What?” Kagome said shocked.

“Stand in front of me woman and this Sesshomaru will heal your wound.” He returned annoyed.

“But I uh…” she started unable to find the words. She began to blush a dark red at the thought of herself standing in front of him in only the revealing clothing she was wearing. Sesshomaru let forth a low growl at her hesitation but said nothing more. The pain in her leg was getting close to unbearable; carefully she placed the tray on the ground off to the side and stood beside Sesshomaru. “What exactly do you plan on doing?” she questioned.

Still irritated he replied, “My saliva has healing qualities.” Now understanding his intentions, yet still uncomfortable, Kagome lingered only a few moments longer before carefully placing a foot on either side of Sesshomaru’s legs. Staring down at him she watched as his head leaned forward and his tongue touched the lowest part of the wound, directly above her knee. The tingling feeling he incited with his tongue left her feeling weak, she reached out to the wall in front of her for support. His tongue followed that course from above her knee to her upper inner thigh twice before stopping; Kagome’s legs trembled in front of him. “It will heal now, remove yourself.” Legs still shaking Kagome moved to the side and eased to the ground. The pain was seeping away already, when suddenly there was a click and the door swung open.
