Inu's POV---
I picked up the crying monk once again from being rapped by my bastered brother. Unfortunatly I came a little too late and he had already penatrated Miroku, hurting him. I told him I would protect him before, and I didn't. I was too late... How is he ever going to belive me now? How can he? After being molested and deeply wounded. I can't imagine what he must be feeling right now, and I can't pretend to understand, because he knows I don't. The only thing I can offer him is the comfort that I'm always going to be here and will protect him. I blew it. I really blew it. He cuddled up to me in my arms as I carried him to the hut. His tear stained face burried in my chest. The girls had seen him, and were now waiting in the hut to question the monk. "I'm sorry Miroku" I said trying to get him to say something.
"It's not your fault" he said almost inaudibly.
"I will get Sesshoumaru for this, I promise"
"Don't worry about it" he knew that I had trouble defeting him, and he didn't want to see me fight and loose. He will be in worse trouble if that happens. But that won't happen if I win.
"I will worry about it Miroku, he's already done this twice, I won't let him do it a third time, I will fight to my death" Miroku looked at me, tears still in his eyes. "I'm sorry Miroku" I said again. No matter how many times I will say it, it won't ever fix things.
"Thank you for saving me" he cuddled to me closer and wrapped his arms around my neck tighter. "Just don't ever leave me again even if I ask... Please" he said fear in his normally brave voice.
"I won't don't worry" We reached the hut and I looked at Miroku, put him down and he straightened himself out. We found his clothes where he had left them so he wasn't going to be embarrassed by walking in naked. "Okay, ready?" I asked making sure he is ready to face the girls after what they saw. He nodded and wiped his tears away and shook his head making himself look like he wasn't crying. Inuyasha and Miroku walked into the hut casually.
"Miroku, are you alright? You were bleeding" Sango said jumping up.
"Yeah, Sango told me you were sitting on it, did he scratch your back or something?" Kagome said. So naive thank god. But from the look on Sango's face she knew it was no back wound. "Let me see it so I can apply some healing lotion on it" Kagome said opening her bag and rumanging though it.
"No! ... No thank you Kagome I'm fine"
"Are you sure Miroku?"
"Yeah... I'm... I'm just going to go to bed now..."
"Don't you want something to eat first?" Shippo asked offering him a bowl.
"No... I'm not really hungry" He said grabbing his staff that was leaning on the wall. "Goodnight" He said smiling a little. I saw him give me a small glance before disapearing in the room.
"Yeah... Me too" I said as casually as I could and followed Miroku in the room. "See you in the morning" I said sliding the door shut behind me, looking at Miroku who sat on his matress leaning against the wall crosslegged. His staff laid at the head of the matress away from him. He looked at me with those sparkling eyes of his. I sighed and sat next to him, grabbing his left hand and stroking it. He sighed this time and watched my caresses.
"I never thought that would happen to me... Sesshoumaru of all people" he said shaking his head slowly. I didn't know what to say, I just gazed at his face and continued to stroke his hand attempting to give him a little comfort. "Why me of all people? What have I ever done to him?" he asked the unanswerable question. I shook my head not answering, not talking. Just wanted him to get things off his chest by himself. "I wish I were dead... I wish he had just killed me the first time he did that to me... At least I wouldn't have felt so miserable... I wouldn't be feeling depressed now... It was enough that I had to watch my father die right in front of my eyes and I couldn't do a thing about it... It was enough that Naraku cursed my family... It's enough that I know everyday is one day closer to the windtunnel harming my friends or even killing them... My life is a living hell and everyone thinks I can handle it... A human heart can only hold so much sadness..." His eyes began to well up with tears and fall onto his soft cheek. My hand invuluntarily wiped them away, not wanting to see the monk cry again. He was in so much pain. I didn't know what to do. I don't know what I can do. I pulled my arms around him and did the only logical thing to do in this situation. I embraced him letting him shed more tears onto my kimono. I kissed his forehead letting him know I'm here for him and I care about him. We stayed like that for hours, neither of us had much sleep. Miroku dozed off sometime in the middle of the night but woke up an hour later from a nightmare. The next morning he had bags under his eyes from lack of sleep and he was constantly yawning which in turn made me yawn. We stayed in that hut another night. Kagome had to go do one of her stupid test things again so we had to stay in place. I wasn't really thrilled with the idea at all. Sesshoumaru knew where we were. I will protect Miroku even if my life depended on it. The monk has been through so much I couldn't let Sesshoumaru hurt him even more. Miroku sat next to Sango, eyes closed in a meditaive position. Sango and Shippo were looking at him curiously and Kirara was sniffing him.
"Oi... What are you guys doing?"
"I think he's asleep" Shippo said looking at his face.
"Then let him sleep what's your problem brat?"
"He looks tired, did he get any sleep last night?" Sango said also staring at his tired face.
"Not much... How should I know?" I quickly said sounding irritated. Miroku opened his eyes and feaked.
"Wah! Sango... Wha? What is it?" He said rubbing his eyes.
"Maybe you should go to bed Miroku" Shippo said still peering at him, at first the monk didn't see him when he first opened his eyes and gave a slight jump when he heard a voice on his lap.
"Ah... uh... naw... I'm fine... I was meditating..."
"You were not meditating Miroku, go back to bed Kagome won't be back for a while you can rest as much as you want" Sango said
"uhm..."
"Come on Miroku" I finially said helping him up and to the room. "I need some sleep too" He was dragging his feet and could hardly stand. We got nearly through the doorway and he practically tripped and collapsed. I caught him by his arm and carried him to the matress. "There... Sleep... I'll watch over you"
"I can't..."
"Why not? Just close your eyes and sleep, nothing is going to harm you" Miroku gave me a worried look and I covered his eyes with my hand. "I'm here, just sleep" His eyes were closed not a minute before he fell fast asleep. I gazed upon his slumbering face. So peacefull, so beautiful. If Sesshoumaru was really attracted to Miroku, he definatly could understand why. He's so delicate but not weak. Not too strong and not too weak. Just right. Long enough to stay conscious.
"Mmmnnah" I heard his voice, he must be having a dream. I crawled to the wall and leaned against it not too far away from him just in case he needs me. A familiar smell entered my nostrals. How dare he come back so soon. Doesn't he know I'll kill him the minute I set eyes on him, especially after what he did to Miroku! My hands were shaking with fury. I didn't want to leave Miroku, that's what Sesshoumaru would want. A growl escaped my throat as the scent grew closer. Should I wake Miroku up? Yes.
"Miroku... Miroku wake up" The monk frowned a little, very groggily and moaned. "Wake up Miroku! Come on hurry" I said desperatly shaking him. He was too tired he barely opened his eyes. My patience was lost and I scooped him up ready to flee to safty. But safty was better in bed where he was at least a few feet away from the armored chest that stood in front of the door way glaring at me. "Get out of here!" I yelled, Miroku still nearly unconscious in my arms.
"You don't need to yell Inuyasha" He stepped in the room, I could do nothing but back away. He backed me into a wall still holding Miroku. He looked at me and looked at the monk's face. He brought he hand up to caress his cheek.
"Don't touch him!" I spat out infuriated, how dare this thing touch Miroku in a mockinly kind manner after what he's done to him.
"He's beautiful..." he looked at Miroku's face is complete adoration which took me by surprise. "I would normal kill a creature I penatrated... But I'll let him live... He's too beautiful for death. You don't have to worry Miroku... I'll make you love me... That way you won't have to struggle so much" My eyes couldn't take themselves off of Sesshoumaru. How dare he... How dare he!
"Get out!" I said as my eyes got red and my claws extended. Sesshoumaru looked at me with such camality. No rage or fury in his eyes.
"Someday he will belong to me, Inuyasha."
"In your dreams!"
"Heh... In those aswell" He turned around and left the room. I layed Miroku back down onto the matress and pulled the sheets to his chin. He was actually asleep. When he's tired he could sleep through anything. I'm just glad he's not having nightmares.
"He won't... I said I will protect you... I promise... Sesshoumaru won't put you through it again... I swear it" I said petting his hair gently as he stired a little.
Over the next few months we have neither heard nor saw any sign of Sesshoumaru. Miroku got over his fear of being left alone for minutes and he decided to train with me. In ourspare time we would fight, I, being the stronger one would win most of the time. Sesshoumaru never came to claim Miroku. He was probably waiting for Naraku's death so the evil hanyou wouldn't put Miroku under a spell and turn him against Sesshoumaru. That was probably a smart thing to do. But until Naraku is dead none of us can rest.
