~~~Chapter 3: Meeting~~~
Just like Kirara had told him, it didn’t take long before Inuyasha had gathered quite the following at the party. When Kirara told everyone that the object of their affection was engaged, the chase was on. There were no pouts, only determined faces. It had seemed that Kirara’s little plan had failed and he was worse off than before. Inuyasha couldn’t believe the audacity of some of these women throwing themselves at him.
But the main reason he had come had yet to show up. He hadn’t seen Kagome anywhere, and he was beginning to think this was a waste of time. These women were starting to get on his last nerve. “I thought you said Kagome was going to be here. We’ve been here two hours and there is still no sign of her.” He snapped at Kirara out of frustration.
“Look, I’m sorry. I told you it was a long shot.” She said as she glanced around the crowd as if she were looking for someone. She spotted Sango and smiled. “Wait here,” she commanded Inuyasha, as she left him to fend for himself.
Inuyasha just stood there in the middle of the circle of ladies, trying to keep an eye on Kirara and ignore their endless chatter at the same time. He watched her walk up to the director’s wife and point him out, and then call him over there.
He gladly obliged and fought his way through the circle of women to make it over to where they were standing. When he approached Sango, she shook his hand and smiled. “Kagome will be here any moment. Shippou, her assistant, is already here. She can’t be far behind. He never lets her go too far off. When she gets in here I will let her know that you are looking for her. If she has the time I’m sure she will seek you out. If not please don’t take any offense. She is a very busy girl.”
Inuyasha smiled; at least this wasn’t a total waste of time. Although this Sango person made it seem like talking to him was a waste of time. But he would just have to suck it up for now. “Thank you very much for your assistance.”
Sango chuckled as she stared at Inuyasha, making him feel quite uneasy. “Your lucky Kouga hasn’t seen you yet. Miroku just loves fucking with that arrogant prick. You’ve got your work cut out for you if you don’t stay out of Kouga’s path.”
Inuyasha laughed as the uneasy feeling dissipated and glanced over at Kirara. “So I’ve been told already.”
“Good then. Well I wish you luck.” She shook his hand in farewell and then gave Kirara a hug. “See you later Kirara.”
Twenty minutes later Kagome still hadn’t shown and Inuyasha had had enough. He bid his farewells and made his way out against Kirara’s protests. The girls were overbearing and it just wasn’t his scene.
Instead of going straight back to his room he decided to take a stroll in the hotel gardens. They were the only gardens he knew of with an ocean view and he had been all over the world.
He needed to relax and sitting by the ocean was just what he needed. The sounds of the waves crashing on the beach were so soothing. All this talk of Kikyo had really struck a nerve, bringing back a lot of unwanted memories.
As he strolled down the garden path he came upon the most beautiful fountain he had ever seen. It was draped in roses and reflecting the most beautiful woman he had ever seen in his entire life.
Kagome sat there, staring out at the ocean. Her reflection shimmering in the pool in combination with the reflection of the moon in her silver eyes was absolutely breathtaking.
Inuyasha just stood there, stuck in his own thoughts the moment he laid eyes on her. ‘The camera doesn’t do her any justice. She is absolutely perfect. I would have never known how truly beautiful her eyes are, a silver to rival my gold. Wait, snap out of it Inuyasha, she’s way out of your league. You don’t want any gossip going around. As far as everyone knows, you’re engaged.’
He quickly pushed his thoughts aside, and not wanting to look like a stalker he spoke up. “Excuse me, are you really allowed outside here all by yourself?” he said approaching her smiling. “You know we can’t afford to lose our lead.”
Kagome didn’t jump, but she didn’t look at Inuyasha either. “I can protect myself quite well sir,” she said rather coldly.
It didn’t deter him. She was only protecting herself. “I’m sorry to disturb you then. But may I ask you a question?” he asked, never taking his eyes off of her and placing his hand atop hers.
The man placed a hand on hers and caused her to look up into his face. She couldn’t believe what she saw standing before her. She knew she had seen him before, but she just couldn’t place him. As she scanned his face her gaze fell upon his eyes, beautiful amber eyes that looked like molten gold. They were eyes that heated every inch of your body, melting your every sense.
She remained captivated by his gaze for what seemed forever until she finally regained control of her body and mind. She flashed him a quick smile and a blush stained her tan cheeks. She had waited way too long to answer that question. “It depends on the question you’d like to ask?” She paused and thought to add, “And you weren’t disturbing me.”
Inuyasha couldn’t get over the fact of how beautiful Kagome appeared before him. She was dressed in a black sequin gown slit up to her hip that reflected the moonlight just as well as her eyes. Her soft black hair was down, loosely flowing about her body in the wind. The blush on her cheeks with the added smile made her even more beautiful.
It could have been his imagination, but he could have sworn she had forgotten to breath too when their gazes met. Inuyasha shook the thought from his head. She was way out of his league. He just would have to keep reminding himself that. He released his hand from atop hers and flashed her another smile. “It’s a business question.” He held out his hand for hers. “Let me introduce myself. I’m Inuyasha.”
She smiled at him and then returned her gaze to the ocean. “It’s good to meet you Inuyasha. So what brings you to this wonderful view of the ocean?” she asked sweetly, completely ignoring the fact that he wanted to ask her a question.
He sat himself beside her and gazed out into the ocean himself. “The ocean is very relaxing. It’s about the only thing that takes my mind off of things I don’t want to think about.”
Kagome nodded and smiled. “Same here, except I would prefer to be at my beach house instead. But I had to make an appearance at this stupid party. I’m sure Kouga won’t leave me alone. The disgusting bastard never does when he sees me. I would do anything to avoid seeing him, let alone talking to him. So I’ve decided that I’ll wait until the last fifteen minutes to show up.”
Inuyasha saw the disgust flicker in her eyes and he laughed. “I wouldn’t worry about him! He’s already left with two minor actresses in the movie. You won’t see him till tomorrow.”
Kagome squealed with delight. “Really? I better get going then!” She got up to leave and then turned around, remembering something. “Wait, what was your question?”
“If you would run through our lines sometime tomorrow with me. I am playing Sora. I would feel much more confident if I knew how you were going to play the part. Not that I doubt your talent.” Inuyasha stammered out nervously as her gaze trapped him.
“Oh, so you’re the one I kiss.” She had doubted that scene when Miroku had told her about it, especially with Miroku being the lecher his is. For some reason, however, she really didn’t mind too much anymore. Actually she couldn’t wait. “Well I guess it would be good to go over our lines together first. How about we meet here tomorrow at seven and get some breakfast. I don’t shoot until ten, so that gives us three hours to do whatever.”
She didn’t wait for Inuyasha to respond, she waved and bid farewell. “I’ll see you tomorrow Inuyasha!”
He somehow knew that this girl would cause him more trouble than he needed right now, but there was something about her, something that called out to him. He watched her intently as she ran down the path out of his sight, but not out of his earshot. He smiled as she thought she was.
When she was out of sight and sound, she began to twirl down the path in delight, prancing around the gardens, singing little songs. No one had ever made her feel like this before. Hojou had never even come close to making these types of feelings, and he was the perfect boyfriend.
A scowl crossed her features as she thought of him. He couldn’t take the pressures of Kagome’s spotlight and left her one day out of the blue. He had broken her heart into a million pieces. Inuyasha flashed through her mind again and she began to smile. She couldn’t wait to tell Sango whom she had just met.
She ran into the party and slung herself on Sango, giggling. Sango eyed her, her curiosity peaked. She hadn’t seen her this happy in a long time. “You’re in an awfully good mood tonight. Have you had a few drinks already?”
Kagome stuck her tongue out at Sango. “Can’t a girl be in a good mood for a change?”
Sango shook her head. “Not as late as you were. You had to be out there somewhere doing something. Shippou was here forty-five minutes before you were.”
She rolled her eyes. “I was sitting in the gardens. Although I shouldn’t have to explain myself.”
“I’m sorry, I just get worried about you.” Sango smiled. “We need to find you a man.”
Kagome smiled to herself. “No thanks, I don’t need help.”
