Chapter 3
I don’t own Inuyasha, never will, wish I did, would love to be the rich girl behind the manga, but I’m not, it will never happen, so enjoy the story. If you can't tell already, I'm not really into naming my chapters. One of my stories has each chapter named, but its just too damn hard.

~~~ Chapter 3~~~
The well called out to Kagome’s jewel shards as she slept. As they began to glow and float in the air she snapped awake and cried out in pain. It felt like someone was burning a hole in her ears.
She got up and walked to the mirror to look at her reflection to make sure she was okay. She couldn’t understand why her ears hurt so badly. ‘I must have slept at least three hours, but why do my ears hurt so bad?’ As she looked in the mirror she noticed the jewel shards glowing and floating around her neck. The glowing usually meant one thing, that there was another jewel nearby. She never expected what she was going to get.
As she made her way to the well she heard a cry for her help coming from deep within it. She couldn’t believe her ears. How could anyone other than Inuyasha get across the time slip? There was no mistaking the voice. It was most definitely a terrified Shippou.
Confused and worried with how and why he had come in the first place she sprinted for the well. “Shippou! What is going on?” Kagome screamed as she quickly approached the well, still not understanding how Shippou could be in her time.
“Kagome! You can hear me!” cried Shippou in joy and relief.
“What is wrong!” yelled Kagome, not quite to the well yet.
“Naraku must have att…” and Shippou’s voice faded away as the shards around Kagome’s neck stopped glowing.
Kagome reached the well and could see nothing but the bottom of the well. “Shippou, where did you go? How did you get over here?” Only, to her surprise, he wasn’t there.
She clasped the shards that had ceased glowing in her hands in fear. He had said the one word that worried her the most, Naraku. If Shippou was calling for help, that was bad. “I knew I shouldn’t have left him alone. I know I said I wasn’t ever going to go back, but… I guess they really do need me. Plus…” she smiled to herself, “I wouldn’t have kept these if I had really planned on staying.”
That was all the confidence she needed as she smiled and grabbed her bow, arrows, and of course backpack and hopped down into the well. As the glow of the time slip faded a frantic Shippou latched onto his adopted mother.
“Kagome!” cried Shippou in relief and excitement. “You came back!”
“Of course I came. You called didn’t you?” Kagome smiled as she answered Shippou. “Although I don’t understand how I could have heard you in my era, but I think it had something to do with the jewel.”
She took on a more serious tone as she asked Shippou all the questions on her mind. She needed to know everything that was going on. She needed to know how the fight was going. She could see Kagura’s wind attacks from here. “Shippou, what happened? Where are they? Is everyone okay? Take me to them!” she demanded.
Shippou cried out and clung to Kagome, tears streaming down his face. “I don’t know what happened. I was waiting for you to come back when I heard Kagura’s wind attacks. The screams started shortly after that. Kagome I’m worried about everyone. Inuyasha can’t fight the same without you around. I’m sorry I can’t be any help. I’m just a kid!”
Kagome smiled down at Shippou comfortingly. “It’s okay Shippou, just lead me to where the fighting is. I won’t let anything happen to you.”
As Shippou led Kagome to the field, she approached and saw Inuyasha and gasped at the sight but only loud enough for Shippou to hear and barely at that. “Inuyasha!”
There Inuyasha stood fighting Naraku, covered in his own blood, barely able to stand up, trying his hardest to avoid Naraku’s attacks. “Shippou he’s hurt!” she said clutching her chest. It hurt her to see him in such a state. “and look over there!” She pointed to the area of the field where Kagura and Kanna were both laying dead. Kagura’s head had been cut clean off and sitting a good distance away from her body, while Kanna’s whole body was cut in half, her face mangled. “They are both dead!”
As she scanned the field even more she saw Miroku lying in pain and clutching his hand, his clothes tattered and covered in blood. ‘He must have sucked up some of those damn insects.’
Further down she saw Sango and Kirara laying next to each other, out cold. “Both Kanna and Kagura are cut in two! Shippou don’t look!” whispered Kagome as she covered his young eyes. “I hope Miroku, Sango, and Kirara will be okay. Shippou, go check on Sango and Miroku… quietly, and give them some of this medicine. Try to avoid looking for Kagura and Kanna. Trust me that you won’t like the sight. I’m counting on you Shippou.” Kagome said as she handed him her book bag. “I’ll go help Inuyasha.”
“But Kagome, you could get killed!” cried Shippou as he latched onto her skirt.
“Shhhh! If I don’t help him it doesn’t look like he is going to make it. I can’t let him die!! What kind of person would I be if I at least didn’t try! Go! I’ll be fine.” Kagome ordered.
“Okay, but only for you mamma.” Shippou sighed as he ran off to Sango and Kirara first.
She smiled as he snuck in her new title and came to the conclusion that she liked it very much. If they all survived this she was going to have to tell him that she liked that.
Kagome snuck along the woods to get as close to the fight as possible without being seen. ‘If I could only get a clear shot.’ Just then Naraku lunged at Inuyasha with one of his many tentacles, going straight for Inuyasha’s heart. Kagome panicked and did the first thing that came to mind. She pinpointed the shards in Naraku’s heart, mustered up all of the strength she had and fired an arrow. “Kami I pray this works.”
The arrow was making a beeline straight for Inuyasha. Naraku smiled at the sight of the arrow in the battle, thinking it to be one of Kikyo’s, not really paying attention to the slightly different aura. He couldn’t help but smirk at the thought of how much more sweet it would be if Kikyo killed the hanyou. But his smile faded as right before his tentacle or the arrow could pierce Inuyasha’s heart he heard the shrill voice of Kagome ring out.
Kagome screamed as loud as she could, in hopes that she was in time. She didn’t know what she would do if this didn’t work. “Osuwari!”
Inuyasha’s eyes widened as he heard the cursed word that was going to save his life. He screamed as his body flung down into the dirt, blood spewing everywhere from the impact of the ground with such force.
Kagome smiled as her arrow sailed through Naraku’s barrier with ease. He hadn’t been expecting her to appear and it was to her advantage. He hadn’t taken the time to defend against her. Striking him in the chest, she watched as her arrow exploded on impact in a bright pink light, shattering Naraku to pieces.
Kagome ran up to the piece of his body with the nearly completed Shikon no Tama and grimaced as she stuck her hand in the guts and pulled it out, wiping off the blood and ooze of Naraku, and purifying it by her touch. As she walked away, she took the jewels from around her neck and held them in her hand with the nearly complete jewel. She felt warmth overcome her body as her hand began to glow and the jewels fused together to form the once again complete Shikon no Tama. She smiled to herself as she looked upon the complete jewel.
Suddenly, Naraku’s body began to reform causing Kagome to spin around and face his reforming body. She cursed herself for forgetting that his heart still didn’t reside in his body and without destroying it, he was invincible.
“Silly, weak miko. Did you really think your arrow, that of a imitation miko that doesn’t even have her powers under control, could defeat me!” he bellowed. “I was waiting to complete the jewel later, after I destroyed Inuyasha and came to destroy your world as well, but you seemed to have accomplished this for me. Since Inuyasha is unable to help you at this moment, I will help myself.” As he said this he wrapped one of his tentacles around her thin neck and began choking her as he lifted her in the air, trying to shake the jewel from her grasp.
“Inuyasha!” she managed to squeak out as she was being choked. As she screamed his grip on her neck tighten and she could feel the life leaving her and quickly blacked out.
‘Inuyasha can’t help you now Kagome.’ A voice echoed inside her head over and over again. She looked through the darkness to see who could have possibly spoken to her in her mind, the voice somehow familiar. As she walked through the cold dark, the figure of a woman became more and more obvious, as well as whom it was. ‘What is Kikyo doing here? Has she come to see me finally die?’
‘No Kagome, I haven’t come to see you die. You are my reincarnation, which means you are stronger than this. The fates do not wish to see you die. This is not the end. All you need to do is wake up!’ the image commanded.
Kagome’s eyes snapped open, only to see Naraku still had her by the neck, but she could see Kikyo as well. She was hidden in the bushes but called out to Kagome anyway, giving away her presence. “Kagome, you can beat Naraku. You are my reincarnation, just as powerful as was I back in the day, even more. A soul not only gets wiser as it is reincarnated over and over again, it gets stronger as well. Just concentrate and feel your power running through your veins, it’s there! Trust me. There will be no doubt in your mind how to use it once you feel it.” With that she disappeared back into the forest.
Naraku glanced over at the direction of the dead miko’s voice but she had already disappeared. He shrugged his shoulders in indifference. “Humph, very clever, but not clever enough. Trying to use my own plot against me the whole time. Stupid wench. She should know by now it will never work, no one is as powerful as I!” Naraku stated as he again tightened his grip around her neck, making her gasp for air and scream in pain.
Just then Inuyasha jumped up and ran for Naraku, “Die Naraku, Die!”
But Naraku was expecting it and saw him coming. He lashed out another of his many tentacles and lunged it towards Inuyasha’s rampaging body aiming it for his head in a final attempt to finally get rid of the pest.
Inuyasha never saw it coming, thinking Naraku was too distracted with Kagome. But Kagome saw every second of what was happening before her in slow motion, and she just couldn’t watch Inuyasha die, and regardless the tentacle choking her she screamed out in pain, “Noooo Inuyasha!” ‘You can’t die! You won’t die!’
Just before Naraku tentacle was thrust into Inuyasha’s head, just as Kagome was about to burst, she felt it. At that moment she felt this warm almost painful sensation running through her blood and her body and she began to glow. She could no longer feel Naraku’s grip around her neck and ended the fight with a final scream, “No!!! I will not watch Inuyasha die for me!!” And with that Naraku’s tentacle stopped millimeters in front of Inuyasha’s face.
Inuyasha stopped dead in his tracks, too astonished at what was happening before him to move a muscle.
“Agh! What is this? What are is happening to me! How can you be capable of thi…” Naraku cried out as he was stopped dead in his tracks.
Kagome’s aura was glowing a radiant pink glow as Naraku’s flesh stiffened and grayed as Naraku was slowly turned to stone, releasing Kagome to the ground and saving Inuyasha’s life in the process.
