Chapter Two : Mail Order

Sango sat on Kagome’s bed as her friend buzzed around on the fan site they both went to, trying to find any kind of information on the live sized dolls. She sat, licking away at the Miroku lolly-pop she’d gotten extra that she could eat, saving the other for her collection; just as Kagome had done. Only Kagome wasn’t eating her lolly-pop, she was too busy looking for any chance to get her hands on an Inuyasha live sized doll. Kagome had always been more into the collecting of her favorite character’s things then Sango, but she would have liked the doll of Miroku herself.
“Find anything?”
“No… Only that thread you were telling me about. Just a bunch of guess work and wishf---…” Kagome suddenly stopped in the middle of her sentence, nearly screaming when she had stumbled onto a site that had a mail order list to get the limited edition Inuyasha live sized doll. Sango had jumped off the bed and came over to her friend when she hadn’t finished her sentence and grinned when she saw that they were also selling the Miroku dolls.
“Get them while they last!” Sango began to read what was written on the site. “These limited edition live size dolls are one of a kind, literally. There is only one of each and the stakes are high. To get your own Inuyasha or Miroku you need to send us your name, number, address, and get your money ready! We’re giving these good looking dolls away to one of the first 10 offers.” Before her friend had even really began, Kagome was already typing out her information down in the list given and clicked the ‘enter’ button once Sango had finished.
“I hope I get him!!” Kagome crossed her fingers and Sango glanced at her watch.
“Shit! I have to go!” Jumping slightly at her friend’s declaration, Kagome looked over at her as she began to gather her things. “I’ll talk to you tomorrow, Kag!” With that, Sango rushed out of the room, soundly shutting the door behind her. She turned her gaze back on her screen and sighed, she figured she’d never get the doll, but she could dream, couldn’t she? Kagome glanced at her clock with another sigh. It was dinner time and she made her way downstairs to the kitchen.

“Kagome, hunny… come here, please.” Came the voice of her mother from the base of the stairs, Kagome pushed herself away from her desk and walked to her door, poking her head out to look down at her mother.
“What is it, mom?” With a hasty gesture, her mother disappeared from sight toward the front door. Kagome sighed and marched down the stairs. She could see someone was at the door and she walked over to stand next to her mother, completely confused as to what was going on. The man at the door seemed to be a delivery boy, but she hadn’t ordered anything that would have needed to be dropped at the door. Except that live sized Inuyasha doll she so very much wanted, only she very much doubted she’d ever get.
“Are you Kagome Higurashi?”
“Yes…”
“Sign here, please.” He flipped out a clipboard and a pen toward her; she took the pen and eyes the man for a moment. Kagome turned her attention to the clipboard and read it over before jotting her name down on the dotted line.
“Thank you! Here’s your package.” He turned away from them to grab a dolly that had a huge box braced against it. He rolled it into the house, making Kagome and her mother back away, before quickly retreating back to his truck with dolly in hand.
“What in the world did you order, child?” Ms. Higurashi asked, looking over the box. Kagome had an idea, as her eyes roamed over the six foot or more tall box before her, but she dare not hope. Looking around, she placed her hands on the box and searched it for a way to open it. Her blood started to roam in her ears as her heart thundered in her chest when she saw the InuYasha logo on the size of the box.
“No way…” Kagome hoarsely whispered to herself before her hands caught a hold of a latch and jerked it. One side of the box fell away and little foamy balls flew across the floor in a mess. She looked over the foam for a moment, stunned that she could have actually gotten Inuyasha. Kagome turned her eyes toward the box and there, nestled in the foam balls, was nothing. It was empty. Her heart fell from her chest as her hopes were shattered, crushed and hurt; she rushed from the living room to the safety of her room. Her door slamming soundly behind her.

For days, Kagome locked herself in her room, refusing to see anyone or come out. Her mother was worried and had tired countless times to get her out. Even Sango had tried bringing her Inuyasha stuff to make her happy. Nothing worked. Kagome stared, red eyed, at the picture of the live sized Inuyasha doll that she was tricked into thinking she’d gotten. Who had gotten it? What were they doing with him? Were they treating him right? With a sigh, she forced herself to sleep for the first time in the last four days. Before she drifted into a fitful slumber, she thought heard someone or something, open her door and shut it. Only she was too far gone to care or stir from her advancing sleep.

Something jolted Kagome from her as she jerked up right in her bed in a fevered sweat. What had she been dreaming? She shoved the blanket off her trembling legs and vaulted herself out of bed. With unsteady steps, she walked over to her full-body mirror. Kagome’s eyes widened at the sight there when she flipped on the lap on her desk.
“What the hell?” She stood before the mirror with nothing on, her tanned skin flushed, and her nipples slightly hardened. It was as if someone had been touching her, loving her body while she slept. With a shaky hand, she slipped it down her abdomen to the soft furred mount that hid her secret depths. Kagome took a deep breath before sinking the tip of her finger into her heated flesh with a soft gasp, finding it slick. What HAD she been dreaming? Kagome sighed, removing her hand from her heated flesh and returned to her bed. She slide between the covers and nestled down into the warmth she’d created earlier.

“Kag… gome… KAGOME!” She jerked and looked up at the face of her little brother, grinning like a little evil devil that had just done something grand.
“What, Souta!?” Kagome snapped out as she sung deeper into the covers, suddenly remembering she wore nothing as she felt the soft cloth of her sheets brush against bare flesh.
“There’s something here for you.” With that said, her Souta bounced out of his sister’s room to rush downstairs, closing the door with a loud ‘thud’. Kagome sighed, wonder what could have come to her this time. She pulled herself out of the bed, looking around for her rode.
“Another empty box, I bet. Another sick joke.” Spotting her rode laying over the back of her desk chair, she scooped it up and slipped it on before heading down the stairs in a slow, lazy walk. Kagome refused to get excited at the sight of the large box sitting in the middle of the living room.
“Kagome Higurashi?” Kagome nodded, approaching the delivery boy and signed her name off on the dotted line, feeling her heart sink a little more.
“Aren’t you going to open it?” Ms. Higurashi asked when Kagome shut the front door and headed for the stairs again.
“Nope.” She paused at the stairs, looking over at the box. “I suppose I could take it to my room though. Get it out of here and out of the way.” Souta tried to slink away into the kitchen, but Kagome grabbed him before he could.
“Oh no! You’re going to help me get this thing up the stairs.” He gave her a defiant look, but didn’t say anything as he rounded the other side. Kagome eyed the box for a moment, wondering how she was going to get it up stairs. She noticed that there were wheels on the bottom of the box, deciding to use that, she rounded the box and pushed it to the base of the stairs.
“Stand here and make sure it doesn’t fall.” Kagome squeezed between the box and the wall to get on the second step. She gripped the pull along bar on the side of the crate and began to pull it up the stairs, the wheels making it easier as they caught on the edge of each step and roll across its surface. Finally making it to the top ledge, she pulled it into her room. With a short ‘thank you’ to her brother, she shut the door and leaned against it as she stared at the box.
“Why do people have to be so cruel?” Kagome sighed, which she seemed to be doing a lot of this morning, as she found the latch to open the box and stepped aside as a side of it fell away. She glared at the piece of board, knowing she wouldn’t find anything in the box, pieces of foam ball scattered over her floor. Something caught her eye and tilted her head slightly to see an old looking katana on the floor amidst the balls of foam. Kagome blinked at the weapon, recognizing it, but not quite believing it could possibility be. Turning her gaze, slowly, to the box itself, she nearly squealed at the sight of Inuyasha nestled in the box. She’d won!! She’d gotten him! Kagome couldn’t wait to get her hands on the six foot or so live sized doll of Inuyasha himself as she drug him free from the stuffy box. With gentle hands, she cradled him into her arms when he fell from the box, surprised that he would weight so much.
“Wow, handsome! You weight a ton.” She drug him to her bed and pulled him into the down-feathered mattress. By the time she had him in the middle of her bed, she was panting from the effort. “Wow.” Turning away, she started to head for her adjoined bathroom.
“Aw hell!” She whipped back around, crawling onto the bed to stretch her body out next to him. Her body feeling hot as she pressed close to the cool unknown material, it felt like flesh und her touch. The thought that he felt so real made her shiver and she looked up into his motionless face.
“You’re so… oh god.” Rising up on her elbow, she leaned over him and pressed her lips against his in a kiss. After a moment, she lifted her head with desire in his eyes. She shook herself up and shoved herself from him, rushing into her bathroom. With the soft click of her closing the door, she missed the slight movement from the bed.
