Chapter 3 Shocking Moments
Sango turned to Miroku with tears in her eyes as Inuyasha took off in flight. “What do we do now?” Miroku couldn’t help cradling her when she collapsed into sobs. “ My dear Sango, I wish that I could take this pain from you. Hush now we will see them again. I promise.” Slowly she looked up at him tears falling from her chin she realized that she needed to tell him how she felt. “Miroku I need to tell you something.”
“What is it Sango?” As he looked down at her in expectation she felt her heart give and brought her lips to his. Miroku gasped when he felt her lips on his, for a moment he was still then he wrapped her in his embrace crushing her to him as he deepened their kiss. Putting her hand on his chest she broke away from his kiss, gasping she looked into his eyes and spoke “ do you love me Miroku? I love you and I need you to know it. I can’t hold it in anymore.” He looked down into her questioning eyes and smiled. “ Baka! Of course I love you! Couldn’t you tell? I was afraid however that my love was unrequited!” Smiling through her tears she through her arms around his neck, she stayed like this for a moment before pulling back to speak. “We must tell Kaede what’s happened. She needs to know that Inuyasha no longer wears the prayer beads.” Miroku looked to where Inuyasha had disappeared through the trees. “You’re right Sango, and somehow I fear this does not bode well for us.”
Sesshomaru looked down at the miko’s sleeping form as they slowly made their way through his lands. The young fox had not moved from where he had perched on the girls’ shoulder. After flying for about an hour the young one had slowly cried him self to sleep. He had an admitted grudging respect for the young fox that had read into his motives where his brother could not. No he was not here to harm the Miko, he needed her to help Rin. At the thought of his young ward he began to fly on faster. He was not worried.. this Sesshomaru did not worry. He was simply annoyed that he needed his brothers human for help. Looking down his estate slowly came into view. With a wave of his hand a small opening appeared in the barrier surrounding it. After years of rebuilding he had it finally how it should be. Looking all around he knew it to be the imposing site that it had first been before the Panther Youkai had destroyed much of it. His attention snapped back to the human in his arm as she began to stir.
Kagome felt as if she were flying. Opening her eyes she realized she was in a very strong arm. Looking up to see the icy Demon Lord memories came flooding back. Emotions suddenly swarmed her as he slowly descended, hurt, suspicion, but the strongest was anger. Pure unadulterated anger burning up as if from her soul. Sesshomaru looked down towards the human as he slowly placed their feet on the ground letting her go. He felt her emotions rage through her. Trying to mask his shock when she looked at him not in fear but in anger.
Suddenly a loud slap resounded waking Shippo from his slumber with its force. “How dare you!” Brown eyes going black met even angrier golden ones, “Miko, do you not value your life?” The last was said so quietly Kagome was lucky she heard him. Realizing who it was she had just laid her hands on Kagome moved back a step. /Why am I not afraid? Now I’ve done it! With a smack like that he’s sure to kill me. / A sudden voice broke through her thoughts with; you know it wouldn’t be so bad if he did kill me. I wouldn’t have to face all this pain anymore!
Sesshomaru watched her face as confusion swept across it, when her shoulders sagged as if from a great weight he realized he still did not smell her fear. When he looked in her eyes he was surprised to see resolution and acceptance? / How can one such as her want death? / Not wanting to seem like she had an effect on his thoughts, he spun on his heel quietly stating for her to follow him. Surprise registered on Kagome’s face as it dawned on her he was not going to end her life and quickly tried to catch up to him.
Looking around she finally noticed her surroundings. Her eyes quickly darted around taking in all the Cherry trees she was now walking through. Inhaling the blossom’s sweet scent she watched as the trees gave way to a clearing, in the clearing she stifled a gasp of surprise as her eyes drank in the almost hundreds of blossoms. They had reached his inner courtyard; Seshomaru felt pride sweep through when he looked upon the beauty of his castle. He almost smiled when he heard the Miko’s shocked gasp from behind him. He knew she would never have pictured him as living in an environment that was surrounded by beauty and peace.
