Demon School

Chapter 3

Sesshomaru looked at the newly constructed hotel building that stood next to his office building. He had to admit, it looked quite stunning. The magnificent structure was 80 stories high, making it the tallest of its kind. The grand opening was going to be in a week, and Sesshomaru needed to find 2 people for the occasion. One, was a date, and the other was a pianist for the lounge.

The pianist would be very easy to find, but a date on the other hand… ‘I’ll worry about that later… I have to get to the damn school now’, he thought to himself. Giving the beautiful building one last glance, he walked to his car and drove off.


Kagome had heard Inuyasha calling for her in the hallway, but she ignored him anyways. ‘What kind of a girl does he think I am?’. Grumbling, Kagome shoved her books inside her locker and walked quickly to her next class. ‘Kagome! I’m sorry about yesterday! Can’t you just forgive me?’, Inuyasha said as he walked along side her.

‘Damnit Inuyasha! What don’t you understand? I know that you were tired, but was there really a need to yell at me?’, Kagome said furiously. ‘Look… I’m really sorry about yesterday. I know it was wrong for me to have done that, and I promise that I’ll never do it again… So… Do you think we can start over again? Please?’.

She looked into his sad puppy eyes, and sighed. ‘Okay, okay… But I’m warning you… If you do that again, I swear that it will be completely over, got it?’. Inuyasha smiled, ‘Got it, I’ll meet you after class, and we can talk more then’. ‘Okay!’, Kagome replied.


Sesshomaru sat back in his chair and rubbed his temples. Despite his warning to Kagome, she was still hanging out with Inuyasha. Sesshomaru knew that something bad was going to result from this, though he wasn’t exactly sure what would happen. His father would want to know about Inuyasha’s relationships, but somehow, Sesshomaru didn’t want to tell his father about Kagome. Not yet, at least…

‘So, Kagome, where do you wanna go now? Shopping? Go grab a bite maybe?’, Inuyasha asked. ‘Oh, I’m sorry, I have to run an errand for my mother first, so I might not be able to go. Maybe another day?’. Inuyasha grinned, ‘That’s okay, I’ll come with you, and once you’re done your errand, then we can go out. How does that sound?’.

‘Great! So, shall we go?’. ‘Okay! Off to my car we go!’, the half demon exclaimed. He let out a wild yell and ran towards the bright red sports car.

As they pulled out onto the busy streets, Inuyasha asked, ‘So, where exactly are we headed?’. ‘Oh, I have to go home and prepare dinner for my mom, then drop it off by her office’, Kagome replied. When they reached the apartment, Kagome ran up as quickly as she could and grabbed the meal she had prepared that morning.

‘Okay, so now we are going to my mother’s office. I’ve never been there before since she just started working there, but apparently its pretty well known. Goes by the name of ‘Takashiro’… Have you heard of it?’, Kagome asked curiously.

Inuyasha nearly choked as he heard the name mentioned. ‘Are you okay, Inuyasha?’. ‘Yeah… I’m fine… So… Your mom is working there now?’. Giving Inuyasha a weird look, Kagome replied, ‘Uh… Yeah. Do you know where it is?’. Inuyasha sighed, ‘I know all too well where it is… Come on, let’s get this over with quickly so we can go get some food’.

The black-haired girl gasped as she saw the beautiful glass structures standing side by side. There was an amazing fountain in the front, as well as a huge garden with different exotic flowers. ‘Wow… It’s so beautiful! Oh my… I wonder which building my mother’s in!’, Kagome said quietly.

‘The shorter one is the business building. The taller one is a hotel and the grand opening is in a week, so that’s why the place is all decorated for the occasion. Apparently, it’s already booked up by all the famous people in Japan, but you can never tell when they’re just saying that to make their company look good’, Inuyasha replied monotonously.

Kagome stared at him, ‘Wow… You know a lot about these buildings’. ‘I only know this because its all that’s been in the news… It’s not like I have anything to do with all this shit!’, he burst out. Kagome smiled, ‘Hey, do you mind going in with me? I’m sure my mother would like to meet you too’.

‘Sesshomaru should still be at school and father is at home… So what the hell’, Inuyasha thought to himself. ‘Okay, okay…’, he grumbled.

Inuyasha looked around cautiously as Kagome asked which floor her mother was working on. He didn’t understand why Kagome didn’t ask her mother in the first place, but he wasn’t going to get pissed off and yell at her again. ‘Come on, Inuyasha!’, Kagome called out to him. He growled, ‘Try and keep your voice down, it is an office building, remember?’.

‘Oh… Sorry’, she whispered. When they got to the 17th floor, Inuyasha saw Kagome rush towards a lady with short hair, and hand her the dinner box. ‘Kagome, guess what? I know that you haven’t played on the piano for a while, but I managed to find you somewhere to perform. You know that building next to this one?’, Kagome’s mother asked.

‘Oh yes! It’s a hotel right?’. ‘Yes, and its grand opening is in a week. The boss, Takashiro-sama was looking for a pianist for that day, and so I asked if you could play, and he said yes!’, she exclaimed.

‘Mom, that’s great! I’ll go home and make sure to find some good pieces!’, Kagome replied. ‘Tomorrow, he has found someone to listen to the music you have prepared, to make sure its appropriate and all that… So, you won’t mind staying a bit longer will you?’. ‘No, that’s fine! Oh! And I almost forgot! Come meet Inuyasha!’.

The half-demon smiled as they approached him. ‘Higurashi-san, pleasure to meet you’, Inuyasha said as politely as he could. ‘Oh, Inuyasha-kun, the pleasure is all mine. Kagome has told me such great things about you. I personally would like to thank you for all the help you’ve given to Kagome. It’s been hard for her, adjusting to the new school and environment’.

‘Mom!’, Kagome said, embarrassed. ‘We have to go now… Have fun at work then!’, she said quickly as she hurried off with Inuyasha. As they stood in the elevator, there was an awkward silence, but was soon broken by Kagome. ‘I’m sorry about that. My mom really likes to talk…’, Kagome said nervously. ‘That’s okay… I understand what you mean’, Inuyasha said with a grin.

When Inuyasha looked up as the elevator doors opened, he immediately regretted going with Kagome. There, in front of them, stood Sesshomaru.

‘Inuyasha. What are you doing here?’, Sesshomaru asked. ‘Oh! He just came with me to drop off dinner for my mother. We were just leaving’, Kagome said quickly. ‘I guess we’ll see you at school then!’. ‘Yes… I will be seeing you at school, Kagome. Inuyasha on the other hand… I would like a word with you…’.


‘What the hell do you want, Sesshomaru-‘sama’?’, Inuyasha said mockingly. ‘Why are you always around Kagome? I know you’re up to something Inuyasha, but I’m warning you…’. ‘Dear brother, why can’t have some trust in me? I’m being a good citizen by showing Kagome around town… Is there something wrong with that?’, Inuyasha said with a smirk.

Sesshomaru gave him one more glare, and then walked into the elevator.

Inuyasha walked over back to a very puzzled Kagome and merely said, ‘Just some school stuff… I’m starving… So, where do you want to go eat?’, Inuyasha asked, trying to change the topic. ‘Oh, you can pick, I don’t know too many places around here’. ‘Okay then!’.

The next few days passed by quickly. The man who had listened to her play piano was more than impressed, and said that Sesshomaru had done a great job choosing his pianist. At the back of her mind, she knew that Sesshomaru was most likely the owner of the entire Takashiro Company, though she didn’t understand why he was working at the school.


The grand opening was finally here, and Kagome could barely contain her excitement. Although she would just be playing background music in the lounge, her mother had bought a beautiful new dress and had worked all morning on her hair.

‘Higurashi! The guests will be arriving soon, so begin playing now so that it will make a good impression!’, the coordinator of the party told her. ‘Okay!’.

Sesshomaru looked around, checking to make sure everything was okay. All the invited guests had turned up, as well as the media. Just as he had expected, he did not find a date for the event, and knew that his father would be upset because of that.

‘Sesshomaru’. The white haired man could feel his back muscles tense as he heard the voice call him. Slowly, he turned around, keeping his head down. ‘Father’, he simply stated. ‘Where is she? I do recall asking you to bring a date for this important event’.

‘She’s here… You don’t have to get up tight about it…’. Sesshomaru glared at the woman beside his father, who was seemed to be hiding from him. ‘Sesshomaru. If you can’t take some of the fire from your eyes, let me find a way to assist’, his father said coldly.

‘Hmph’. Sesshomaru stalked off, not wanting to say another word. Much to his dismay, his father followed him into the lounge, and was watching his every step. Sesshomaru looked towards the piano as he heard the beautiful music being played. He could see her fingers dancing on the keys, producing the enchanting melodies.

She was wearing a pale blue dress that was tied behind her neck, revealing her perfect skin. He continued to look at the woman, hoping to catch a glimpse of who it was. ‘So… Is that your date?’. Sesshomaru turned around, only to see his father smirking at him.

‘As a matter of fact… She is my date’, he said, smirking right back at his father. Inutaisho raised an eyebrow, ‘Well… Why don’t you invite her over? I would love to have a chat with this… ‘date’ of yours…’.

Remaining as calm as he could, Sesshomaru notified the coordinator, and silently hoped that the pianist would refuse. When he heard the response, Sesshomaru clenched his teeth together, ‘Well… There’s no going back now is there?’, he thought to himself.
