Chapter Three
Kagome pulled the car into the parking lot of the local market. They had dinner last night at her uncle's house, which had been nice. She'd seen her cousin again, Shuuichi had grown alot since the last time she'd seen him. Shiori had been wonderful welcoming both girls with open arms. The only one that had been missing had been her son.She informed them that he had made prior arrangements for the evening and had waited as long as he could.
Her uncle had insisted on helping them unload but they had argued against it so he wouldn't have to take the day off work. They had managed to pack it all without any help, they'd unpack it the same way. The truck was now empty, everything being moved inside the apartment. It was already after three, neither girl had eaten since breakfast. Sango was home unpacking some of the boxes while Kagome ran to the store to pick up something quick for dinner.
The thought of a microwavable dinner left an odd taste in her mouth. Maybe something to bake that wouldn't taste like cardboard. 'Something easy but tasty, doesn't leave me much options.' Her eyes fell to the meat section, maybe it would be worth her time to cook. She walked over looking at what meat they had to offer. Sango seemed to love steak as much as she did.
She heard loud laughter to her right and turned to see who would be that loud. Three men were standing near the beer display talking. Two of them messing around, probably already drank one too many. Her blue eyes roamed over them taking in their appearance, early twenties tops. The one softly laughing at the two caught her attention, nice hair. It had to be a guy from the voice and the butt. His back was facing her so she couldn't see his face.
"Really you two need to behave before we get kicked out. Then I'll have to explain to my mother why I didn't finish her shopping. She's still slightly upset for me leaving early last night."
"So what was up last night?" Yusuke grinned as he released Kuwabara. He reached inside the cooler and pulled out a twelve pack.
"Family coming into town, I was suppose to meet them. Nothing of great importance, I will meet them eventually. Is that all you are getting? Shizuru will drink all that herself."
"Yeah well she can buy her own, I don't support her habits." Yusuke looked over Kurama's shoulder and paused. He took in the girl staring in their direction and wished he was single. She was wearing a blue tanktop and skimpy shorts showing off most of her legs. "Now that's hot."
Kuwabara and Kurama turned to follow his gaze to see the girl watching them. Kurama met her eyes and smiled, she blushed and turned away. He watched as she went about her shopping, ignoring them now. His eyes roamed her over, she was beautiful. And taken from the looks of it, she was buying for two people. "I'll be back." He left them there laughing as he made his way over to speak to the girl.
Kagome groaned when she sensed him walking over. Should she explain why she'd been staring at him and his friends? Would he want to know how she could tell that he wasn't human. Neither was his one friend with the black hair. Her hand reached out and grabbed a jar of pickles, Sango loved them as well. She turned and continued to walk pretending she didn't know he was coming.
"Hello," His voice was smooth and soft, like a caress.
"Good evening," She grabbed the dressing that she prefered and stuck it in her basket. She gave up and glanced over at him, very cute.
"Making dinner for two?"
"How did you guess?" She looked over at the selection looking for what Sango liked. The girl was pickier than her when it came to some foods. She felt his eyes on her when she bent down to grab the bottle of ranch. "Did you need something?" Large green eyes stared at her, taking in every line of her face.
"Your name would be nice." He smiled at her hoping to get atleast that small amount of information from her. Something about her intriqued him, he couldn't name it. He groaned when he heard Yusuke yelling behind him.
"Give it up Kurama, you aren't getting into them panties."
Kagome heard him loud and clear, she sighed. She should have known better, someone as good looking as him wouldn't be interested in her. Sango had told her to change before coming out but she didn't want to put on clean clothes when she was still sweatie. He must have taken one look at her and thought easy lay. "I think not." She turned on her heels and left him standing there with a red face. What a bunch of jerks!
She got in line and proceeded to pay for her items so she could get out. As she walked out the door the three men were still walking around inside. She placed the bags in the backseat and climbed in the car. The cellphone rang as she cranked up the car, "Hello."
"Kagome? Are you on your way back?" Sango's voice came through.
"Yes, I just left the store. Did you need something?"
"No, just wanted to let you know Shiori called to say that she and her son would be over tomorrow morning to take us out to breakfast. Did you pick up any pickles?"
Kagome laughed, "Yes, I did but you can't have any." Someone began tapping on her window, "Hold on a second."
Kurama waited for her to down the window then spoke, "I just wanted to apologize for my friend's behavior inside. I was merely wanting an introduction nothing more."
"Hold on," She put the phone back up to her face. "Hey, I'll see you when I get home okay. I will, don't worry. Whatever, bye."
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to interrupt your call. Mind if I ask your name?"
"Yes, I do. Look, as they say; no one knows you like your friends. I'm willing to bet you are use to girls fawning all over you. It's not going to happen here. I hope to never see you again so there'd be no point in giving you my name or vice versa. I accept your apology and I hope you have a nice night." She pushed the button to up her window. He walked away as she began to back up, shame he had such a cute butt.
Sango was waiting for her when she walked inside carrying the bags. She placed them down in the kitchen. "You go through it, I need to sit down for a minute."
Sango went for the pickles first placing the jar on the counter. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing really, I had some really cute guy trying to hit on me while I was shopping."
"Really? Thoughts of Inuyasha bothering you?" Sango placed the steaks on the counter also. She placed the milk and eggs into the fridge.
"No, remember when I told you that things are different in this era. Alot of females our age have already had sex with a man without marriage. It is a common practice these days I'm afraid. This guy mistook me for one of these girls."
"How do you know?"
"Well one of his friends made the comment about the guy getting into my panties. Why else would he come up and start hitting on me in the store? Let me tell you, he was extremely attractive. Someone like him is use to getting any girl he wants." Kagome remembered the stunning green eyes and sighed. "Should I cook or you?"
"You can, I'm going to finish unpacking some of these boxes."
"Alright," Kagome got up to make the food, her thoughts returning to the events in the store. It wasn't that she believed that she'd spend the rest of her life alone. She eventually wanted to fall in love again, be happy one day. Then again she wasn't going to be some notch on a guy's bedpost. She had some respect for herself.
"Are you sure this is the place?"
"Yes," Sango pulled Kagome behind her into the cafe. "This is the address she gave me and it's already after seven. I'm sure they are inside waiting for us."
"Okay, I believe you." She followed beside her friend to the cute guy waiting to greet them. "Hi, we are with.."
"Oh yes, this way." He waved them forward, eyeing both as he turned around. Figures that the two lovely women would be going to Shuichi's table. He'd went to school with the young man, he'd could have had his pick from any of the girls then too. He spotted the man's red hair and almost scowled. "Here you go."
Shiori spotted them and stood up, "There you two are, I hope the traffic wasn't bad. I want you two to meet my son, Shuichi. Shuichi this is your cousin Kagome and her friend Sango."
Kagome groaned when she looked over to find piercing green eyes staring at her. No freakin way, the cute guy from yesterday was her cousin.
