thoughts
Kikyo sat and watched Inumaru chase his little sister with poorly masked amusement. The child reminded her so much of Inuyasha. He was an exact replica of her beloved hanyou albeit for the indigo crescent on his forehead that was covered by a strip of cloth wrapped around his head to keep the silver hair out of his gold eyes. Inumaru’s dog ears on the top of his head twitched as Shinko shrieked with laughter. He grinned, revealing pearly fangs as he quickly swiped the ball from his sister’s small hands. She gave a small cry of protest and soon, the competition for the ball reversed postitions.
Kikyo gave a very un-Kikyo giggle and she got to her feet, her robes swaying in the wind. Her smile slipped off her face as she realized that today was the day she would have to break it to the little boy that he was leaving his family. Kikyo knew it was for the best. Isako’s master would kill them all if he found out about Inumaru, the cold lord being one cold hearted bastard that NEVER shared any of his possessions. Kikyo’s hand tightened on her bow, she now carried it with her always, Naraku being a constant threat and demons attracted to the scent of a young hanyou always came calling for blood.
The cold lord reminded Kikyo so much of Naraku that she longed to just fit an arrow to her bow and shoot him with it. But, Kikyo sighed and released her death grip on the bow, if she did, hordes of men would chase after Isako, Shinko and Inumaru and no matter what a bastard the lord was, he provided Isako and her family with what they needed to survive.
Kikyo spotted her loyal soul collectors and she silently slipped away from the laughing children, determined to give Inumaru his last day of enjoyment with his family and those he loved. She followed their pale slender bodies to a clearing, a puzzled frown on her porcelain face. Her soul collectors never usually came for her, she would summon them. They stopped then twined around her, linking their minds.
Kikyo gasped as she saw the lord in her soul collector’s minds. He wasn’t supposed to return for another month.
And he looked angry. Raven locks adorned a sharp featured face, his slate eyes cold and hard. The horde of men he had left with had been reduced by at least half and a majority of them were injured. It seemed that the war hadn’t fared well for them. Kikyo gave her soul collectors a swift stroke on their heads before she turned and ran swiftly back toward Isako’s hut.
