Dream of Acceptance

Breakfast


Rin got up bright and early the next morning, she was hungry. She walked into the kitchen to find Yukina already preparing to make some breakfast. She greeted the girl that was only an two inches shorter than herself. "Morning."

"Good morning, Rin. Hope you slept well."

"Yes, thank you. Need some help?"

"Sure, here can you stir this for me?" Yukina handed her a large bowel with some pancake mix. "Just try to get all the lumps out."

"Okay." Rin took the large spoon and began to stir. She'd never gotten to cook much. After taking a mate Sesshoumaru had went back to his estate. Unlike most people she hadn't changed much as she grew up. Centuries of life hadn't changed her much. She was still the same cheerful person that had caught the eye of the cold demon lord. Ayame once said she was a free spirit.

"So is Kuwabara your boyfriend?"

"Ummm, I spend a lot of time with Kuzuma. I really like him but I'm not all too sure what a boyfriend is." Yukina took the pan she needed out. "I'm not sure if I've ever had a boyfriend."

"I've never had one either. I think it's done." She handed the bowel over.

"I should be okay if you want to take your walk."

"Okay," Rin left the kitchen and made her way out the door. She always took a little walk in the morning right after waking. It helped clear her head. She opened the door and the cold air hit her face. It felt good, refreshing. The door was closed quietly behind her and she walked down the steps.

Within a minute she felt someone following her and it was the fire youkai, that was the same height as her. He followed her every morning she went out. Her lord had probably asked him to see to her safety. Deciding, if he was going to be joining her, he might as well walk with her. "Why don't you walk with me?"

"Hn." He was beside her before she could blink.

"See thats better." She smiled at him. He wore no expression as he gazed at her. "You have pretty eyes but you need to smile more." She had her arms behind her back as she looked at him.

"I'll smile when I have a reason."

"Of course you have a reason silly, you're alive." She stated. "Come on, lets go." They started walking in silence. It was promising to be a cold day but it wasn't going to rain. She took off running, "Race ya."

Was she serious? He lifted an eyebrow. Heh, yes she was. Fine he'd let her almost get there first. He waited until she was almost at the large tree she'd always sit under. Then moved.

Rin knew he'd beat her but atleast she'd gotten him to participate. "No fair you cheated." She removed the hair resting on her chin.

"How did I cheat?"

"You didn't run, you flew."

"I ran, you just didn't see me."

"Well, you run too fast." She crossed her arms and pretended to pout. He just stared at her, so she stuck her tongue out at him. "Race you back to the house." She took off running. This time he walked and let her win. Upon, reaching the steps, she twirled around. "I won."

"Hn." He smiled as he walked inside.


Yukina was setting up the plates as she walked back in. So she went to help. Everyone else was waking up now, making their way to the table. Rin was putting the plates down while Yukina fixed them. Kagome came out the same time as Shizuru, both girls had bed head.

"Don't you ever look ruffled?" Shizuru asked Rin.

"I don't know." She handed the half asleep woman a plate of pancakes. "Enjoy!"

"Christ, she really is happy all the time."

"I heard some strange noises last night, maybe she got laid." Yukina said. They had dropped the conversation last night but the ice apparition was ready to learn more.

"I did not that was Keiko." Rin stated.

"So much for restriction." Kagome took a sip of coffee Yukina handed her. "This is great Yukina."

"Thank you. I guess we should go ahead and eat since no one else has come out. Hiei do you wanna join us?" She smiled at the man sitting on the couch arm. "You can have Keiko's spot."

He came over to sit, putting him next to Rin. He accepted the food handed to him and began to eat.

Those present began to eat. Yukina finished half her food before her curiousity got the better of her. "Hiei, since the others don't wanna tell me. What does getting laid entail?"

He turned beat red at the question. "What makes you think I would know?" Everyone turned their eyes on him which he didn't like.

"Shizuru told Kagome last night that Kuzuma was weird because most men got laid before they turned eighteen. I figure you are a man and you are over eighteen. So you must have been laid before, will you tell me?"

"No, I will not. Ask someone else." There was no way he'd explain something like that to his own sister.

"Come now Hiei we all know you aren't a virgin." Shizuru watched the little youkai start to squirm.

"Course not," Rin made her own deduction. "He is a youkai and he's old. Plus he's cute."

The small man's blush became more apparent. "Don't discuss me like I'm not here. It's no one's business but my own."

"I'll just ask Botan when she shows up." Yukina decided. She went back to eating her breakfast.

Genkai was the next to get up, she grabbed a plate and walked off. Then Kouga decided to join them, he was in a pissy mood. He accepted the food Kagome offered him and went to sit on the couch. He grumbled the whole way.

"Now theres someone that needs to get laid," Shizuru stated. He'd been in a bad mood since he'd gotten here. Kagome had assured them that he wasn't usually like that. Though she found it hard to believe.

He turned to glare at her, "Don't say shit unless you are willing to help me out in that department."

"You couldn't handle it." She didn't bother to look at him as she spoke.

"Bitch, I'd have you begging on your hands and knees."

"Watch your mouth," Kagome yelled at him. "No need for name calling."

"Fine then, woman I'd have you begging on your hands and knees." He countered.

"That's better. Wait no its not." Kagome glared at him. "Don't talk like that."

"Why not? It's okay for you five to discuss it but I can't? Women." He turned his attention back to his food. For some reason he started imagining the tall woman on her hands and knees begging him. He sighed trying to clear the image.

Keiko and Yusuke walked out into the kitchen holding hands. He had a big smile on his face, as he grabbed some food and sat next to the wolf. Keiko grabbed her a cup of coffee and leaned against the counter.

Rin watched everyone having finished her breakfast. She noticed that Kagome seemed lost in thought. Shizuru looked agitated probably due to Kouga's comments. Keiko and Yusuke seemed happier than her, unbelievably. Her attention was caught when she noticed how Hiei kept sending little glances over to look at Yukina. The look on his face when he thought no one was paying attention told her a lot. He seemed to care for her, a lot. Did he like her in that way? She decided to pay close attention in the next couple of days. She'd played match maker with Sesshoumaru and Ayame. Maybe she'd try her luck again.
