The Past To Hate

Chapter Three

Inuyasha woke up when he smelt smoke filling his nostrils. He jerked awake and looked around. Far away he could see the billows of smoke rising towards the village. They had stopped last night on the outskirts of the village when it had begun to rain. "Get up everyone."

Miroku jerked awake at the sound of his voice. Dawn had just started lighting up the sky. The houshi smelt the smoke and quickly woke up Sango and Kagome. Inuyasha was already heading towards the village at top speed. Several seconds later he stopped to see demons running everywhere killing whomever they could find. He unsheathed Tetsusaiga and charged forward. He cut down the first few demons.

He spotted the village elder fall on his face and a demon go for him. "No you don't." He used his claws to tear the demon in two. He glared down at the old man. Miroku and Sango could be heard in the distance jumping into the fray. "What are they after old man?"

"Stop him, he's after the ashes."

"What ashes?" Inuyasha asked.

"Lady Leiko's grave is being descimated as we speak you must stop him. Please," he fell to his knees begging the hanyou.

"Fine just get up." Inuyasha ran to the center of the village and stopped in his tracks. "Byakuya," he spotted the boy digging in the ground to pull a jar out.

He turned around to smile at the hanyou, "You are too late Inuyasha. I have what I came for." He held his prize in his hand. "Naraku will be very pleased. Farewell."

"Get back here you bastard," Several demons intercepted the hanyou. The boy was gone before he could stop him.

Miroku joined him, "Wheres the ashes? The old man said he sent you to get some ashes."

"Naraku is behind this, he has them."

The last of the demons was finished off. Sango landed on Kirara with Kagome and Shippo behind her. "Why was the village attacked?"

"Seems Naraku was after someone's ashes. But why, who was buried here?" Miroku turned to the elderly man walking towards them.
"Please tell us who was buried here. Who's ashes were just stolen?"

"Why don't you ask your friend there. Surely he can tell you."

"Hn. I have no idea nor do I care." He swung Tetsusaiga over his shoulder. They had saved who they could now it was time to leave.

"Blasphemy! How dare you deny knowing, when it was you who killed her."

"What! I didn't kill anyone but if you keep it up I might change that." He growled a warning at the old man.

Miroku decided this was getting them nowhere fast. "Please, can you tell me who my friend was suppose to have killed."

"Suppose to nothing, he did kill her. He might not have struck the blow but he is responsible for her death. She was none other than Lady Leiko, a very powerful miko in her time. Its his fault she died, everyone knows that." He sighed. "And now someone has stolen her ashes, while he did nothing."


Naraku took the ashes from Byakuya, "Excellent, now leave." The boy left and Naraku set off into the night. Several hours later he was at the old witch, Oki's cave. He didn't bother announcing himself merely walked in. The cave smelt of rotting meat and flesh. It almost made even him sick. "Oki."

"Ahhh, Naraku it is a pleasure to see you again. What can I do for you?" The old crone stepped forward revealing a scarred face and long grey hair.

"I wish to bring someone back, a miko."

"Ah, like the dead miko Kikyo."

"No, I don't want her body to be made of clay. I want her alive. Of flesh." Naraku place the jar on the table.

"How do you propose I do this?" She asked.

"Simple, I have to ability to create offspring from my own body, using the demons that are a part of me. You will use my parts and the ashes to bring her back with a new body."

"Very well, but you do know what you are risking. To bring a miko's soul back in the form of a demonic body. She could make a powerful enemy."

"Exactly, I have no worries of her becoming my enemy. You see she will already want to kill the one person, that I would have set her against. She will go after the hanyou on her own. And I will help her." Naraku grinned as the witch nodded at his plan. Soon he would have the means to kill that bothersome pest. Inuyasha would die and this time he had earned the enemy all on his own. If things went well he would have the means to kill Kikyo as well as Kagome.
