Deception
Chapter 3
The Lord of the Eastern Lands looked out at the Northern and Southern lands. They were both without Lords, and had no other family to take control. Takumi knew that if he was able to take over both areas, he would almost double in army size. 'Their armies are large, but weak. It's a wonder why Sesshomaru never bothered to take over their land... Sesshomaru's army on the other hand...'
Takumi pounded his fist at the wall, knowing that he would never be able to take over Sesshomaru or his army. Although he didn't have nearly as many people as Takumi did, Sesshomaru's warriors were highly trained and a group of only 30 would have been able to take care of all the soldiers combined in the Northern and Southern lands...
'I must form an alliance with him, and then, when the time comes, I will make sure to have taken his army before he finds out who I am... Yes, that's what I'll do...' Takumi grinned in delight as he went to his study and started to create his plan.
Kagome had felt the area where masses of demons had gathered. It only appeared for a short moment, before it was immediately gone. It was somewhere in the east, exactly where, she didn't know. All she could count on was her instincts that led her there. Kagome could feel demons gather around her as she walked through the forest.
The demons just stayed hidden in the trees and watched as she walked by. Kagome wasn't worried about them, but rather something behind her. There was no demonic aura coming from the presence, but she could smell it. Kagome was tense, but tried not to show it as the demoness continued to head east.
Sesshomaru felt her tense, and knew that she had found out about him. He turned west, trying to make her think that it was just a coincidence that they were traveling on the same route. He knew that he couldn't hide from her forever, especially now that she was on Takumi's land, and if he didn't make his move soon, Takumi would.
Kagome relaxed as she felt the presence move west. 'I guess it was just a lost villager or something'. Suddenly, she sniffed the ground and groaned. 'I've already been here before! But how can that be? I've walking in a straight line...'. Frustrated, she jumped up onto the top of a tree and looked at her surroundings. She could see the sun peeping over some rolling hills.
'Looks like you could use some help...' A voice from behind her said. Kagome quickly jumped onto a different tree, both hands placed on her swords. 'Why didn't I sense him approach me?' Kagome thought angrily 'Well no duh, it because I was so frustrated, and let my guard down. Boy I sure need practice'.
She turned around to see the demon who had spoken to her. He was a tall, well formed demon with magnificent dark brown wings sprouting from his back. Unlike the other demons she had seen today, he had a gentle and kind face.
'I'm terribly sorry! I didn't mean to startle you. Let me introduce myself. My name is Takumi, and I am the Lord of the Eastern Lands. I was just patrolling the lands and I saw you. Is there anything I can do to make up for surprising you?'.
Kagome looked at him suspiciously. She wasn't sure if she could trust him, especially after her first impressions of the Lords. 'Aren't you supposed to battle me?'.
'Ah, you must mean how Lord Akio and Lord Ryo came after you. They had decided whoever was able to defeat you first, would take you as their mate, but I haven't seen them since, so I'm going to guess you defeated them both right?' Kagome gave a small nod, wondering how he knew.
'Ah well, here, demons find their mate by either defeating them in a battle, or by courting them. In their case, they decided to battle you. Now by repaying you, I don't mean to court you or anything, but to keep you on good terms with me'. Kagome looked into his eyes, and saw kindness, but could sense a slight air of mystery around him.
Kagome thought to herself 'Well, I might as well take advantage of this time'. She put on a smile, 'Well, when you put it like that, I guess I'll take up your offer. How about... A tour of your land?'. Takumi raised a slender eyebrow at the request, but agreed with smile.
~In the Western Lands~
Sesshomaru's demon side growled in frustration. 'Damn Takumi for taking what is MINE. I must get her back before he claims her...'. Sesshomaru fought his demon side. 'What the hell are you thinking? Who would want Inuyasha's wench? I just need to figure out why I'm so attracted to her... Then I will kill her...'. His demon side roared with disapproval. He knew that arguing was pointless. If his demon side wanted something, it would do anything and everything to get it.
Sesshomaru could feel warmth gathering in his lower regions, and quickly thought of something else. Takumi. The Eastern Lord had been acting strangely as of late. Every time Sesshomaru saw him, he always seemed lost in thought, and sometimes he would see Takumi suddenly smirk for no apparent reason. Sesshomaru's mind soon found itself drifting off, and thinking about the demoness. Images he had imagined last night came back to haunt him.
Sesshomaru knew he needed to cool off, and quickly burst out the door and sat in a small pond. The small pond had only served as a decoration, but Sesshomaru found that it had calmed his arousal. Getting a feeling that he might need it again, Sesshomaru decided that he would have it sealed off, allowing only himself into it. 'Jaken' Sesshomaru called out. He had heard the toad demon gasp as he went into the pond. 'Yes Master!! Please forgive me! I saw nothing!...'.'Have this pond sealed off and connected to my hot springs.'
Sesshomaru calmly got out of the pond, and went to get changed. 'I can't take much more of this. I need to get rid of that temptress once and for all...'
~Back on the Eastern Lands~
So far, Takumi had shown her all around the castle, and Kagome hadn't sensed anything out of the ordinary. 'Well, I guess that concludes the tour' Takumi said, interrupting Kagome's train of thought. 'But...' 'What is it?'. Kagome shook her head, and said 'Never mind. Thank you very much for showing me around. I'll... see you around then!'. Within a blink of an eye, she was gone.
She headed west, in hopes of finding the village where the lost villager could have been from. She knew that it was just a wild guess that the presence was a villager, but she needed to find a calm place to recount her thoughts without any unexpected guests. As she sniffed the air, she could not find any trace of human settlement in the area. She retraced her steps and found the scent of the one who was following her. Kagome went on all fours, with her nose on the ground, she followed where the scent led her. 'This isn't very lady-like of me, but how else am I going to find where it leads? I just hope it wasn't a demon...'
~In Sesshomaru's Castle~
'She's coming. She has left Takumi and is coming to you! Take her! Don't let her slip through your hands again!' Sesshomaru's inner beast told him. 'Enough! I will not take my brother's remains. She has probably already been tainted by that worthless half-demon'. Sesshomaru said that to his inner beast, but they both knew very well that she had not been taken. She was completely innocent, and that's why his beast longed for her. His beast longed to feel her warm body next his, her tight, wet passages enveloping him.
He could feel something strain against his clothing, and before it got anymore painful, he walked briskly to the pond and sat in. Sesshomaru had a feeling that getting rid of the demoness was going to be much harder than he expected...
~In the Eastern Lands~
Takumi looked out at the setting sun. He hadn't expected that the demoness would ask for a tour around, but he was glad that she hadn't asked to see his palace. If she had, he would have had to make up some lame excuse that would probably make her suspicious.
'This is dangerous... If she continues to snoop around, it could ruin all my plans…’. He looked out the window and saw the masses of demons that were gathering. ‘Somehow, I have to move these demons into the Northern or Southern lands, but she’ll definitely feel the huge demonic aura…’. Takumi remembered his encounter with Kagome, ‘Well, she’s not exactly the most alert demon, but I need to make sure that she’s distracted…’.
Kagome sat down and sighed, the scent had suddenly ended, and was nowhere to be found. ‘I guess it really was a demon… And one that could fly for that matter…’. Immediately, she thought of Takumi. ‘Wait a second… why didn’t Takumi have a scent? And where was his demonic aura?’.
Kagome’s eyes widened as she realized these things. ‘Could… Takumi be Naraku?’… Kagome crawled over to a patch of grass and laid back on the ground. She closed her eyes as she felt sleep start to overtake her. ‘Well… If he is… Then I’ll have to find out more… about it tomorrow…’ Kagome put up a small barrier, and drifted off into a light sleep.
Sesshomaru could sense that she had stopped in front of the barrier. ‘She really is hopeless, as I thought. I don’t see why you could possibly want such a weakling’ he told his demon beast. His demon side took over his arm and caused a whip of light to lash out at the barrier, making it waver and pulse.
‘Why did you do that?!? Now she’ll find out about it!’. His inner beast laughed as began to take control over his body., ‘Isn’t that what we want, though?’. Sesshomaru fought to keep control, but soon, he knew that his body would be inhabited by his demonic side, and that he would then become the voice inside.
=Kagome's Flashback=
Kagome looked around herself. She was inside the counselors’ office. She looked to her left and saw her counselor. ‘I heard what happened… But I want you to tell me how you feel right now.’.
'I don't know... I just feel extremely sad, and... empty...' Kagome muttered. 'Well, that is to be expected. It will go away after a while, but what you need to do, is fill in that empty gap. Has you ever met someone who really grabbed your attention? Someone who could fill in that hole?'.
Kagome thought for a while, 'I think of only one person... but it would never happen. He's just way out of my league...'. 'Don't think like that! Have you tried talking to this person?'.
Kagome thought to herself, 'Well, I've only talked to him when he was going to kill Inuyasha, but I don't think that counts...'. 'No, but never mind, just forget I said anything.'.
'Kagome. You need to talk to this person, if you can't think of someone else to fill the void, it's the only way to help you get better! Now, what's his phone number? I'll call him up so you can talk to him'.
'Erm... He doesn't have... You know what? Suddenly, I feel all better now. I think I'll be going now.' Kagome quickly ran off, and left the counselor still by the phone.
=End of Flashback=
'I must've been crazy to think of him... Maybe it's because he looks like Inuyasha... No. It has nothing to do with Inuyasha.' Kagome could remember how jealous she was of him when she had first met him. He had a handsome face, gorgeous hair, and a well toned body. If that wasn't the body of a god, or at least a perfect body, Kagome didn't know what was.
Every night after the counselor had reminded her of Sesshomaru, she had dreamt of the silver haired demon. At first, she would just see him, standing in the moonlight, but lately, they had become rather intense, and left Kagome struggling for air when she woke up.
Kagome hated herself for falling in love with the one person she could never be with. Suddenly, she felt something move behind her. She looked as the air behind her seemed to ripple. Kagome knew at once that it was a barrier. Curious to know what was being hidden, she drew her swords and slashed them at the barrier.
As a small hole appeared, Kagome quickly dove into it before it closed. Kagome got up and brushed the dirt from her clothing, 'I guess I'm still not as skilled as Inuyasha was in breaking barriers'.
'Heh... So you came...'. Kagome eyes widened as she saw who was talking to her. 'Sesshomaru-sama...'. Quickly, Kagome bowed, 'I'm sorry! I didn't mean to intrude! I just thought that... well, that it might...''That it might be Naraku?'.
The voice she heard was too close for comfort, and as she looked up, Sesshomaru captured her lips in a passionate kiss. Kagome tried to get away, but found that she was up against a tree. Kagome screamed as Sesshomaru tore at her clothing. 'You will be mine! MINE!!!'.
Suddenly, he stopped. Kagome slowly looked up as she heard him growling. 'ARRGH! I... CAN'T... DO THIS... TO AN... INNOCENT.... BEING!!!'. 'MAKE HER YOURS!!!'. 'NOOOO!!!!'.
Kagome watched as Sesshomaru fought an invisible force inside him. 'So... he really does care... he's trying to hold his demon side back...'. Sesshomaru's eyes flashed from yellow to red, and then back to yellow. Without a warning, Sesshomaru fled back to his castle, still growling with rage.
'Wait!...' Kagome cried. She couldn't believe what had just happened. Kagome couldn't believe how she was feeling. She had almost been raped, but somehow, her heart told her to go back to him, to make sure that he was okay. Inside her, she knew that it wasn't his fault that his body was reacting that way. All the demons that she had fought so far had been the same, except that they had been completely consumed by the urges.
The demoness fixed her clothing, and stood up. Kagome could feel her heart, telling her to go see him, and for once in her life, she knew that she could trust it completely.
