Chapter One

Kagome Stevenson stood in the airport terminal watching everyone rush by, all in a hurry to get somewhere. Her feet dragged across the plush blush carpet. Memories were keeping her shoulders weighed down, her movements slow. At the age of thirty-three she carried the emotional baggage of someone twice her age. Years had passed since she'd been home, since she'd stepped in Tokyo. The wish had been made, a day new day had begun leaving her in her time and the well sealed. For the first month tears were her companion as she fell asleep. The nights seemed so wrong without a hanyou watching over her as she drifted off. Souta had been worried about his sister's health and had called her friends over. After much complaining and prying they dragged the sad teenager out her room, complaining how her two-timing boyfriend had broke her heart again. Thats the night her life changed and she had to put the past behind her.

His name had been Marcus, an american college student, visiting Tokyo with a few of his friends for the summer. The plan had been to go to a party hosted by one of the girls in her school. Just stop by dance a little, cheer Kagome up. The party was on a high-note, dozens of teenagers piled into one small room. Of course her friends had spotted the four americans standing in the corner, along with every other girl in the room. But only one caught Kagome's attention, he was leaning against the wall. His attitude was aloof, indifference, till he saw her scoping him out. Then he smiled, and the first thing that crossed her mind was Inuyasha. 'His smile, so much like his.' Introductions were made, courtesy of her friends of course. They had decided to stay in touch after that evening. He was very quiet but something about him reminded her so much of the love she'd lost. He told her of his family, his father had a shipping business which he was one day going to take over. She understood the pressure he felt by his life and gave him a friend to talk to. Two months went by, many emails and phone calls. Deep in her heart she yearned to hear a snide remark or just a "Heh." Her sixtenth birthday came along and he fly back to Tokyo to spend the weekend with her. He took her to a fancy resteraunt, showering her with gifts and flowers. Having drunk too much sake at dinner one thing lead to another and she found herself in the arms of a man that wasn't her hanyou. One night of trying to forget changed her life. Two months passed after that night, and the realization that she was pregnant from her one night left her distraught. Upon finding out Marcus had proposed and swore to take care her. So, she had become Mrs. Kagome Stevenson and moved to America to start her life again.

Her life became one of ease much different from shard hunting and running from demons. He had promised to take care of her and he did. Her twin daughters had been born filling a small part of her heart. Fraternal twins, one looking much like the mother the other like the father. She choice to name the girl resembling her, Kimi, meaning 'she who is without equal.' And as for the other she named, Michiko, child of beauty. Kimi, had her long dark hair, facial features except for the eyes, blue like her fathers.
Michiko was her little barbie doll, blonde, blue eyes, exactly like her father. Both girls were taller than her by atleast two inches but they knew their place. What worried the former Miko was the reappearance of the sacred jewel. She thought when the wish was made it was forever gone from this world. In the delivery room minutes after their birth the familiar sensation had assualted her. The jewel was no longer whole but torn in two, divided equally between her little girls. For years, she'd been afraid of being attacked in her own home. Twice, she'd been forced to protect them so when they turned the age of five she immediately enrolled them in martial arts and defense classes. They took to it like fish to water, loving the classes they attended every week.

Kagome was content for the last ten years of her life, they were no longer in danger and Marcus had cherished her. The family business had fallen into his hands, so they never wanted for anything. He spoiled the girls and herself. She had thought she'd finally be able to be happy until a month ago. Seventeen years after returning, once again her world came crashing down. He was gone, leaving her and her sixteen year old girls alone. She'd answered the door only to face two policemen, informing her that her husband had been killed in an automobile accident. Alone once again in the world the decision to sell the company and return home was made. Now, weeks after later she stood looking at the plane that would take her back home, back to the well.

"Come on, mom." Kimi grabbed her mother by the elbow. "Any slower and you'll be walking backwards. Don't wanna miss the plane do we?" She sighed picking up the pace as the last boarding call was announced.

"Yeah, I can't wait to get there. Are there any cute guys in Japan?" a chuckle followed Michiko's question.
