Quarrel
SUMMARY: “Don’t you ever, and I mean ever call me that again.” She hissed in a low furious tone. “I all have to say to you right now is that you better figure a way to get yourself out of this so called hole you dug yourself into.” Kikyou turned ever so calmly away from the doors but something stopped her. She extended both hands out to grasp hold of the handles that where now opened wide. Kikyou smiled sweetly at Inuyasha before responding to him. Inuyasha took a step back. Shit! She pissed now, he thought. A worried look crossed his face as he waited for the bomb to explode again.

CHAPTER 3: QUARREL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Five months later…
Her hands typed on the computer busily as she tried not to over hear the rather loud and heated conversation going on in the next room behind her. 'Conversation, ha! More like another lovers spat,' she mused slightly.
“How did this happen, Inuyasha?!”
“Damn, if I know!”
“Well, it’s your company. You should!”
A small well manicured hand waving in front of her face brought her back to reality. Kagome stared at the women wearing a light pink business dress suit with her long straight black-brown hair pulled neatly behind her head in a ponytail. Her bright magenta eyes looking friendly at her.
“Oh, hello Sango. Sorry, I was spacing out there.” Kagome smiled at her friend.
“Hey, Kags. These are the financial reports for the company that Inuyasha asked for…” Before Sango could finish with her statement a loud crash interrupted her. It sounded a lot like glass shattering as it made contact with the wall. Then came a furious voice that followed.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“Baka. How could you do something this irresponsible?”
……….
“Are they are it again?” Sango grimaced. She leaned closer to her friend to hand her the papers she held within her hand.
Kagome grinned. “Afraid so.” She reached out to get the papers.
“Could you give them to Inuyasha for me? I have a dinner date with Miroku in five minutes, and from the sounds of it, if I go in there I might not get out alive.” Sango asked in a pleading tone.
“So what, are you afraid that they will kill the messenger? Is that why you are asking me to do it?” Kagome teased. She brought her hand to her heart in a dramatic gesture.
Sango giggled. “No. I just can stand the thought of going in there with her being in there. Honestly, Kags I don’t know how you can put up with it?”
Kagome’s silver blue eyes lowered fleetingly before looking back up at her best friend. “He made the decision Sango.” The pain came through as she spoke, “I would rather have him in my life as a friend then nothing at all.” Her heart felt a twinge of grief as she spoke those words out loud.
Sango didn’t miss the look of sorrow that flashed through Kagome’s eyes. “I’m sorry Kagome I shouldn’t have brought it up.”
Kagome stood up from behind the desk to break the questioning stared Sango was giving her. “It’s alright Sango. Go on, I will give this to Inuyasha. Tell Miroku I said hello.” She said in her best cheerful tone for the moment.
Sango got the hint. She pulled back away from she friend. Kagome didn’t want to talk about it, she understood. She walked away from the secretary’s desk back to the elevator only ten feet away from Kags. “You sure you don’t want to come?” Sango yelled over to Kagome.
She smile and shook her head no. “Have a good time. Just try not to let that perv get his hands all over you in public to much.” Kagome said with a playful laugh.
Sango blushed and nodded as she walked onto the elevator leaving her friend behind.
Kagome thought she heard Sango mutter something about that "was highly unlike," and "when pigs fly." A grin came across her face but fell when the office doors leading to Inuyasha office flew violently open, and out stormed an angry but gorgeous woman dressed in a dark red silk Armani suit. With every step she made to the elevator her amply bosom bounce out of the low v-cut jacket that came neatly tapered to her waist. Her waist long ebony waist long hair whipped back and forth at the determined stride she made.
“Kikyou! Get back here wench! I’m not done talking to you!” Yelled Inuyasha angrily.
That did it. She turned quickly on her matching six inch spike high heels back to the threshold of Inuyasha’s office.
“Don’t you ever, and I mean ever call me that again.” She hissed in a low furious tone. “I all have to say to you right now is that you better figure a way to get yourself out of this so called hole you dug yourself into.” Kikyou turned ever so calmly away from the doors but something stopped her. She extended both hands out to grasp hold of the handles that where now opened wide. Kikyou smiled sweetly at Inuyasha before responding to him. Inuyasha took a step back. Shit! She pissed now, he thought. A worried look crossed his face as he waited for the bomb to explode again.
“Oh, by the way honey.” Kikyou drawed out in a honey toned voice. “You are sleeping on the couch!!!” She next pulled the two doors shut forcefully with a loud banging noise.
Kagome watched in amusement and sympathy at the predicament the two were in. They were causing quite a seen, and she couldn’t help but watch.
Kikyou caught Kagome staring and then sneered at her. “Don’t you have work to do? I, honestly don’t know why Inuyasha still has you work for him. He could get someone so much more.” Kikyou didn’t continue, however; she didn’t wait for Kagome’s answer either. Instead she walked off in a huff back to the elevator and waited for it to come to the top floor. Her left foot tapped in an impatient beat on the marble floor. She then crossed her arms across her chest and lightly drummed her finger on her arm indicating her frustrated demeanor.
Kagome saw a glint come off one of Kikyou’s fingers and wondered what it was? But, she sadly realized it was the engagement ring Inuyasha bought her. Kagome lowered her head. The ring is beautiful, she thought solemnly. A dinging noise from across the lobby made her realize that the elevator had finally come to the top floor. Kagome was never so happy to see Kikyou get on that elevator and leave. Her words stung as she thought back on them. This was the first encounter she had had with Kikyou in five months since the engagement party.
Kagome felt all the emotion rise up again as she remember that night five long months ago. Stop this! She chastised herself. Wallowing in self-pity isn’t going to do you no good. The pep talk she gave herself was working, but when her eyes fell to the papers in her hand her heart fell. Damn, I still have to give this to Inuyasha. She moaned mentally. Kagome walked quietly to the door and knocked on it. She heard Inuyasha mutter loudly to come in.
